Collect snmp traffic information realtime

Hi
I want to collect the snmp information about the traffic rate from the interface. I found in the show interface result that it only shows the 5 mins traffic rate. And I was wondering if we could do it in real time manner or approximately 1 - 10 sec. Could you suggest what way we can do this? Does it have a specific mib I can use?
Basically what I am trying to achieve is to find the maximun traffic rate in the 5 minutes period. I want to collect the rate in every 10 sec. And compare them to find the maximun during the 5mins period. Then the snmp poller will poll this information later on. This may require creating the custom mib to store this maximum value and wait for the poller to poll. I am not sure if we can do that in IOS. If we can, what IOS version should be able to do it.
Thanks a lot for your help.
S

There're a couple of IOS commands you can use, as described at http://kb.pert.geant.net/PERTKB/SnmpUpdateLag. They have the desired effects under normal circumstances. However, according to various user reports, IOS may defer on updating SNMP counter values when it gets busy dealing with its "day job" of moving packets.

    There is nothing in Java to do that. The Java language is independent of the os, and doesn't support (many) os-specific attributes.

  • ACL to allow SNMP traffic

    I created an ACL to allow SNMP traffic through.  Once I applied it traffic does not pass.  Should be pretty simple.  Below is what I used.  I am using SNMP v2.
    ip access-list extended ABC-ACL
    permit udp X.X.0.0 0.0.255.255 host SERVER_IP eq snmp
    permit udp X.X.0.0 0.0.255.255 host SERVER_IP eq snmptrap
    permit icmp X.X.0.0 0.0.255.255 host SERVER_IP
    Additional permit statements omited.

    Where it is applied it to a L3 switch vlan interface or a router interface, which direction etc.,.
    Is the SNMP traffic from a specific device, you could add a permit log for that specific device to see what ports it is using.
    Also, where is the SNMP coming from in your acl ? if it is the x.x.0.0 network the acl should be -
    permit udp x.x.0.0 0.0.255.255 eq snmp host SERVER_IP eq snmp
    etc..

  • Traffic information on Nokia Maps

    I just updated firmware and maps on my Nokia N95. When I started Maps there was a question if I wanted to buy Traffic Information for apprx 20e per year which I did. But now when I try to use the traffic info it just says that the Traffic Information is not supported by the "map data" i have. What does this mean, I have the latest maps.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    This error comes when the Map data on your phone is older than the traffic info service.
    to fix this connect your phone to Map Loader on your PC via "PC Suite" mode (download it if you dont have it already - well worth it as it will remove all costs from getting Map Data) and select "Delete Maps from Storage". Once deleted download the map data for the region you have traffic and update again.
    You should then get traffic info
    Hope this helps

  • Receiving and decoding TMC traffic information mes...

    Hi:
    I have a N79 and was wondering if the RDS receiver can actually receive the TMC traffic information packets? If yes is there a simple application that could just record and help sort through these TMC messages.
    Any idea? Any hint?
    Thanks

    N79 with ExtGPS for getting internal GPS position on Bluetooth and ViewRanger for topographic maps

    Hello
    I can totally relate to your post of the accuracy of RTTI data.
    It is not up to date the way RDS-TMC is. I live in Finland and traffic jams are not everyday happenings, but yesterday there were 2 car crash sites on my way home. My friend had RDS-TMC function in his tomtom and it showed the info of the car chrashes and rerouted the way accordingly, but my RTTI showed nothing. The RDS-TMC data seems to be light years ahead of Nokias RTTI data and the fact that I paid for this service it makes me weep.

  • Script or tool to collect/discover/explore informations about a database

    Hi there!
    We have a new customer who already has Oracle databases running. In this project we have to take over the servers and databases. So in future we are responsible for the databases. To operate these foreign databases we have to know and document them an their configuration in a first inventory-step.
    My question now is are there any scripts or tools that do this discovery of fundamental information, for example like tablespaces, users, datafiles, usage statistics, performance parameters.
    I know there's a tool called "remote diagnostic agent" (rda) but I don't know if this fits my needs.
    Thanks for helping,
    Markus

    Hi @all
    Thanks for all the quick responses.
    OK, maybe it's the best to use RDA for that matter. I already thought about it but that solution dosn't have that charme as a nice small script which gives me the information i need to get a quick overview.
    @ ji li
    Well, it's not a problem to write a script which collects all these data by getting them out of the database repository. But I think you would agree with me that it's verry senseless to put some effort in developing something if someone has already done that. And as I'm not shure if I have all information I need it's a good help to orientate at a work of experienced dbas.
    Would it be to cheeky to ask you if you want to share your script solution?

  • Collect Software File Information

    Hello!
    I want to collect information from all files and folders inside c:\program files and c:\program files (x86).
    Is there a way to do that without typing the complete path ? (C:\Program Files (x86)\Bizagi\Bizagi Xpress\Studio)
    i tried adding c:\program files and c:\program files (x86) on Configuration --> Inventory --> Software Files --> Files and paths to include in collection but the files aren't scanned. Only if I put the complete path of each program I want to find.
    Am I doing something wrong ?

    From the help:
    If you specify a file or path in the Files and paths to include in collection field, the scan is limited to just that file or path. If a file or path is specified in the Files and paths to exclude from collection field, all files and paths are searched except the specified file or path. Paths specified in the Software Applications panel are also skipped.
    So if you do it the other way around then it should work, like excluding all folders except c:\program files and c:\program files (x86)

  • SNMP v3 informs not working

    Thanks,

    That is correct.  The switch will send the inform with the NMS's engineID.  Therefore the switch needs to know the proper remote engineID.  See http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_0t/12_0t3/feature/guide/Snmp3.html#wp21645 and http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_2/configfun/configuration/guide/fcf014.html#wp1001347 .

  • Is it safe to collect credit card information from donors using a fillable emailable form?

    I work for a nonprofit and would like to create a fillable pledge form that we would email to current donors.  Our pledge form (which is currently sent and recieved by mail) gives them the opportunity to say how much they'd like to donate and exactly how it should be done (check, credit card, installments, payroll deduction etc).   I know how to create the form and how to put an email / print button on the form.  What I can't seem to find on any threads is an answer regarding how safe the collected information that is EMAILED back to us would be.   Would we be putting our donors at risk by collecting that kind of data via email?  If so is there a way to make it safe - and that doesn't make it complicated for our less tech-savvy friends? Would there be any safety difference between creating the form using LiveCycle vs using the pdf form wizard?
    Any advice would be much appreciated.

    As you are using email as the vehichle for delivery the question isn't how safe is the form ...it is how safe is the email system that is being used.
    The form itself will be a PDF so by virtue of that anyone can open it (unless you employ an encryption strategy but that woudl be a nuisance to your clients). You coudl employ a password to open the PDF but again that is a nuisance for your clients. So secure email might be the easiest way.
    Normally this is done by posting the form to a web server using https protocols (secure and encypted) and not through email.

  • Nexus 5548UP snmp gathering information from FC is not working

    Hi all,
    We have a couple of Nexus 5548UP.
    Nx-OS = n5000-uk9.7.0.5.N1.1.bin
    monitoring traffic of FC interfaces was working fine until we upgraded to 7.0.5.N1.1 from 6.0.2.N2.1.
    We didn't change anything on our Nexus config and on our Centreon monitoring engine.
    I also can't see Fc interface while browsing MIBs from the Nexus.
    Is there any issue or something to do to recover the monitoring of The FC interface of the Nexus ?
    Best Regards
    Cyril

    Hi,
    It might be this bug.
    FC interfaces are not listed in IF-MIB snmp walk

  • Is there any way to log web traffic information of the users with RV082 router ?

    Dear all,
    I just bought a RV082 router. I can't find any way for logging the web traffic of the users.
    Can it be done with the router ?
    Thanks
    Fabio

    Hello,
    If I am not mistaking the best you can do is to send syslog traffic to a server or locally (to a server being preferred) .
    But you are going to see stuff like this:
    30>Aug 3 22:12:40 2005 gw RGFW-OUT: ACCEPT (TCP 192.168.1.111:2101->212.5.219.46:80 on ppp0) [0,0]
    <30>Aug 3 22:12:40 2005 gw RGFW-OUT: ACCEPT (TCP 192.168.1.111:2102->81.0.235.240:80 on ppp0) [0,0]
    <30>Aug 3 22:12:40 2005 gw RGFW-OUT: ACCEPT (TCP 192.168.1.111:2103->81.0.235.251:80 on ppp0) [0,0]
    <30>Aug 3 22:12:41 2005 gw RGFW-OUT: ACCEPT (TCP 192.168.1.111:2104->212.5.219.46:80 on ppp0) [0,0]
    <30>Aug 3 22:12:41 2005 gw RGFW-OUT: ACCEPT (TCP 192.168.1.111:2105->81.0.235.250:80 on ppp0) [0,0]
    <30>Aug 3 22:12:41 2005 gw RGFW-OUT: ACCEPT (TCP 192.168.1.111:2106->212.5.219.46:80 on ppp0) [0,0]
    You will need an external device to make this happen, Having a proxy server such as Squid would do it for you and not just that but will optimize the newtork :)

  • Traffic information in Nokia Maps

    <body><p>Is it possible to include this option in Nokia Maps in future? I am asking, because in PC version this option exists. So, doesn't it will be great to enjoy it in mobile version?

    I have a Nokia E7 and I am using my N9 as my primary phone right now, but I can say, I miss the Navigation on the E7, it was simpler, faster, had more optoions and features, and the live traffic on the E7 is excellent, very good Navigation App.  I Love the facebook check in via Nokia Maps on my E7, where as with the N9 there is no functional check in at all unless via 3rd party apps (Fmobi) so yes, I would like to see the same Symbian Nokia Maps brought to the N9 as well as upcoming Windows PHone devices, it is a setp backwards in its current form.

  • Can someone use my macs serial nos to collect my personal information and use it in a wrong way.

    i recently purchased an ipod 4th generation...got it without ios 5 (black color).....the quality and the sound of music played is poorer then compared to the iphone 3gs i am using....i tested both the devices for the same song and was astonished to know that ipod, being a music device played inferior quality of music.... ... what could the problem be.....please suggest what should i do.....

    Umm, no, not really.
    AFAIK, the only people who have the information that ties to you and your computer hardware would be Apple, and that is limited to what you give when you register the computer and Apple's not telling.
    I'd be more worried about losing my wallet or having items snitched out of my mailbox - you know, the normal everyday stuff.

    Is there any script/commands availble to collect all the informaion about oracle dababase and oracle RAC 10g.
    Edited by: user3234 on Jan 12, 2009 6:43 PM

    Hello,
    RAC cloning, you can use OUI to clone RAC nodes and clusterware. The R2 Oracle Universal Installer comes with a perl script, *$ORACLE_HOME/clone/bin/clone.pl*, which automates the cloning process. A companion script, prepare_clone.pl, prepares the source ORACLE_HOME for cloning by archiving and compressing it; you copy the files over yourself, unarchive, and run clone.pl. See if this helps you.

  • Difference between MIB retrieval and SNMP server hosts

    Hi all,
    can anybody explain difference between MIB retrieval systems and SNMP server hosts?

    The two of these can both be different systems or the same system
    A MIB retrieval system usually is an NMS system that actively polls the device to collect SNMP/MIB information (counters, stats, etc)
    Whereas a host is typically where traps are sent to from the network devices.
    Most NMS systems act as both a retrieval (poller) and host (trap receiver).
