Column name in link on sql report?

Hey guys -
Is there some way to put the column name of a report in a link?
When you define a link on a column you have the ability to use a substition string for the VALUE of a particular column... but I want to somehow pass the string value of the column.... anyone know how to do this?
Thanks

Not the value of the column.. I want the actual column name...
i.e.
Items on page to set:
txtbox1
txtbox2
Query:
Channel          INS1     INS2     INS3     INS4
Retail          13     1     333     55
Wholesale     4234     23     1     44Okay, so I want to make a link on the values in the query (the #'s) to set the values of the txtboxes...
example would be if I click on 333 I want it to set txtbox1="Retail" and txtbox2="INS3"
The channel one is fine I just use the substition string of #COL1# in the link and it replaces the value... but nothing that I can find on how ot set txtbox2="INS3"

  • How to rename C00n generic column names in a Dynamic SQL report

    I have a an interface whereby the user can select 1 to 60 (upper limit) columns out of 90 possible columns (using a shuttle) from one table before running a report.
    To construct the SQL that will eventually execute, I'm using a "PLSQL function body returning SQL query" with dynamic SQL. The only problem is that I have to use "Generic Column Names" option to be able to compile the code and end up with c001 to c060 as the column names.
    How can I use the names of the selected columns as the report headings rather than c001, C002... etc?
    I do not know beforehand which columns, or how many columns or the order of the selected columns.
    I know Denes K has a demo called Pick Columns but I can't access his code. I have a hunch though that he may be just using conditions to hide/show the apropriate columns.
    thanks in advance
    PaulP

    Hi Paul
    I would change the Heading Type in the Report Details screen to PLSQL and use the shuttle item to return the column values. e.g.
    RETURN :p1_shuttle;
    I'm assuming the shuttle already has a colon separated list of the column headings in the correct order?
    I hope that helps

  • Can't select char type columns using ODBC link to SQL Server 2K

    I have set up a db link using hsodbc from 8.1.7 to SQL Server 2000. I can select numeric and date columns from the
    SQL Server table with no problem. But any character datatype (nchar or nvchar) column name included in the query
    returns an ORA-00904 ("invalid column name"). I know the column names are valid for SQL Server and can access
    these columns via EXCEL using the same user id and data source that is used for the link. I don't have a clue as to why ORACLE can't "see" the character type columns. Following is the hs trace file (HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = debug) generated for "select assay_name from bio_assay@sqlsrvl":

    Note, the query I entered doesn't appear and I never entered the query "select * from bio_assay" - it appears that this is
    automatically generated by the hsodbc process and raises other questions (like wouldn't this return a lot of unneeded
    data ?). It also appears that the "select * from bio_assay" gets translated somehow into a select statement listing each column - however, non of the columns listed are character type columns like assay_name.
    Does this make sense to anyone? Any ideas ? HELP !

    Remote view gives the same error. I think the problem has to do with nchar and nvchar fields. It seems that the hsodbc agent issues a "select * from bio_assay" at the beginning of the session (see above trace).

    Apparently, the list of fields that is returned from the "select *" does not include any of the nchar or nvchar type columns. After this initial "select *" the oracle server only looks at the initial list of columns and gives an "invalid column" error for any fields that are not in this initial list. So the question is: how do I make the hsodbc agent see the nchar/nvchar type fields and include them in the initial list ? I've tried setting the HS_NLS_LANGUAGE and HS_NLS_NCHAR parameters but these seem to have no effect.
    Any clue as to what's going on ?

  • Pass column-name as a parameter to reports

    Hello,
    the code below calls a report. But now I want to sort the rows in the report. For example I have a text-item in my form-modul. If I type a column-name and press the button then the rows should be sorted in the report. Is it possible tp pass column-names as parameter to reports?
    DECLARE
    repid REPORT_OBJECT;
    v_rep VARCHAR2(100);
    rep_status VARCHAR2(20);
    BEGIN
    repid := find_report_object('STATIONSTOPOLOGIE');
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid,REPORT_EXECUTION_MODE,RUNTIME);
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid,REPORT_COMM_MODE,SYNCHRONOUS);
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid,REPORT_DESTYPE,CACHE);
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid,REPORT_DESFORMAT,'html');
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid,REPORT_SERVER,'rep_oracle-dev');
    -- SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid,REPORT_OTHER,'paramform=no pdeptno='||:dept.deptno);
    v_rep := RUN_REPORT_OBJECT(repid);
    rep_status := REPORT_OBJECT_STATUS(v_rep);
    WHILE rep_status in ('RUNNING','OPENING_REPORT','ENQUEUED')
    LOOP
    rep_status := report_object_status(v_rep);
    END LOOP;
    IF rep_status = 'FINISHED' THEN
    WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT('http://oracle-dev:8888/reports/rwservlet/getjobid'||
    substr(v_rep,instr(v_rep,'_',-1)+1)||'?'||'server=rep_oracle-dev','_blank');
    ELSE
    message('Error when running report');
    END IF;
    END;

    Hi,
    the work has been done in reports. You can use a lexical parameter in reports to add a condition for sorting to the query like:
    select .. from .. where ... &p_order.
    Then add another parameter to the report (for example p_param). Fill p_param via your interface in forms (SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid,REPORT_OTHER, ....) with the column name. Then build a report trigger like:
    if :p_param is null
    then
    :p_order:= null;
    else
    :p_order:= 'order by '||:p_param;
    end if;
    But have a look, that p_param can only get correct values.

  • Download column link to SQL report

    Hi ,
    I am using apex 4.1.
    I have a SQL report  with blob image column also . And along with the image i need to add download link as a column can some one please suggest me how to do it.

    This is very simple. Reference the image column twice in the report query projection, and apply a download format mask to one column and an image mask to the other.

  • Conditional links in sql report

    Hi all,
    i have created a report with 5 columns. First 2 columns are copy and edit links, rest 3 columns are the corresponding row value. If i click on copy then the primary key of the selected row is passed over to the next detail page and details are shown there. Similar is the case with edit link.
    But i want to show edit link with only those rows, which the user have access. The table shows all the detail, but the link should only come when the user has the privilege to edit it. Can i provide conditionality in SQL Report link column?
    Do reply. Thanks in advance
    With Regards,
    Sunil Bhatia

    Dear Sunil Bhatia!
    I'm not sure if it is possible to make a column link conditional so I would suggest you a little workaround. On the detail page where your edit link leads to create a validation (page processing). This should be a page level validation of type SQL or PL/SQL as you like. This validation could check the user rights with SQL and depending on the result of the validation show an error message like "Sorry, You don't have enough rights to edit this row!" or it could display the detail page to edit the row.
    I hope this will help you along.
    Yours sincerely
    Florian W.

  • Why do I get a class conflict between the Prepare SQL.vi and the Get Column Name.vi with the SQL Toolkit compatibility vis from the Database Connectivity Toolkit?

    I have done extensive programming with the SQL Toolkit with LabVIEW versions through 6.1. My customer now wants to upgrade to Windows 7, so I am trying to upgrade to LabVIEW 2009 (my latest purchased version) using the Database Connectivity Toolkit, and the SQL Toolkit Compatibility vis. Everything seemed to be going okay with the higher level SQL operations, but I ran into trouble with the Get Column Name.vi.
    The pictures below show the problem. The original SQL Toolkit connected the Prepare SQL.vi with the Get Column Name.vi with a cluster of two references, one for connection, and one for sql. The new compatibility vis have a class conflict in the wire because the Prepare SQL.vi contains a cluster with connection, and command references, but the Get Column Name.vi expects a cluster with connection and recordset references.
    How do I resolve this conflict?
    Thank You.
    Dan

    I've never worked with the old version of the toolkit, so I don't know how it did things, but looking inside the SQL prep VI, it only generates a command, and the the column name VI wants a recordset. I'm not super familiar with all the internals of ADO, but my understanding is that is standard - you only have the columns after you execute the command and get the recordset back. What you can apparently do here is insert the Execute Prepared SQL VI in the middle and that will return what you need.
    I'm not sure why it worked before. Maybe the execute was hidden inside the prep VI or maybe you can get the column names out of the command object before execution. In general, I would recommend considering switching to the newer VIs.
    Try to take over the world!

  • How to use the column names generated from Dynamic SQL

    Hi,
    I have a problem with Dynamic SQL.
    I have written an SQL which will dynamically generate the Select statement with from and where clause in it.
    But that select statement when executed will get me hundreds of rows and i want to insert each row separately into one more table.
    For that i have used a ref cursor to open and insert the table.
    In the select list the column names will also be as follows: COLUMN1, COLUMN2, COLUMN3,....COLUMNn
    Please find below the sample code:
    TYPE ref_csr IS REF CURSOR;
    insert_csr ref_csr;
    v_select VARCHAR2 (4000) := NULL;
    v_table VARCHAR2 (4000) := NULL;

    v_ins_tab VARCHAR2 (4000) := NULL;
    v_insert VARCHAR2 (4000) := NULL;

    OPEN insert_csr FOR CASE

    Please help me out with the above problem.

  • How to validate column name in dynamic made sql?

    Oracle db, jdbc, web app with struts2/spring.
    Example table could be this:
    CREATE TABLE album
    album_id number(10)  not null,
      artist  varchar2(50) not null,
    title  varchar2(50) not null,
      released  DATE,
      CONSTRAINT album_pk PRIMARY KEY (album_id)
    );In may app the user MAY search, MAY sort, and the result from an select might return 10.000 rows.
    The basic sql usually look like this.
    String sql = "select album_id, artist, title, released from album";Then in the html page the user can add search criteria for each column. Like type "iron maiden" in artist field, put "1982" in released field. And you all know what the exceptionally result should be from that :)
    Now I need to modify the sql a bit:
    if( artist search field contains stuff )
       sql = sql + " where nvl( artist,' ') like ?"
    }we try use prepared statements right? So we use ? as placeholders, and then add "iron maiden" into this statement later on.
    Nice, no big fuzz right, and pretty safe from sql injections i guess.
    But now I have to have an if/else for every single field in the table. Boring. In my app I got like 25 tables like this, with 20 columns minimum. Copy/Paste have never been so boring.
    I also might have to add "order by" with user selected columns and their order. I have to count the query to get total result in case i got to split it up in pages. So there is alot of if/else and sql = sql + "more stuff", and sticking to ? and pure prepared statements is impossible.
    But doing this is not good either:
    for( each element in a map)
      sql = sql + " and nvl( " + key + ",' ') like ?"
    }Where key is "artist".
    In struts and other tag libs its easy to make kode like:
    <s:textfield name="model.addSearch( 'artist' )" value="%{model.getSearch( 'artist' )}" size="30" />
    Silly example maybe, but just to make a point.
    Inputed values in an html form, can very easily be a part of a dynamic created sql - which becomes a security problem later on.
    Artist is an column name. Key should be validated if it contained an valid column name.
    I could make a list of strings, containing valid column names to check against.
    My question is if there is possible to get this type of information from the database, so I don't have to hand-make these lists?
    But I also want to keep the number of heavy and slowing queries down.
    My app have like 25 tables now, and I could easily get away with hand-make everything, copy/paste around etc. But I have more projects and this question will be here next time too. And after there again...

    Etharo wrote:
    Metadata. Then I have to query the database, take the result and use it for validating of input. If my sql only query 1 table, then this is ok. In this case I could do with that. But if the sql query mutliple tables, with sub-selects, unions etc. Then I might have to query all tables first, and even then I might not have what I want.
    The best way is of course to run the query, then get the metadata from that query - cause then im 100% sure what columns will be returned, and then I can validate with that.... 1 query is often not that slow. But I might query once to find total number of rows the query return in order to decide if we need to page the result. then query to get the metadata for validating input, then query to get the result... Maybe this is ok -but my head don't like it as an general ok thing to do, but I can't really say why...If you have a gui screen then it needs to correspond to some specific query. It can't be all possible combinations.
    So once you know the query you can obtain the meta data using a query that returns no results. Like the following.
    select * from mytable wheren 1 = 0
    >
    Jschell:
    I agree to what you say. I don't understood everything you said tho.
    Im not sure if you talk about having 1 search field (like google), and you input stuff there that might be in any columns.
    I have several search fields in one-to-one relasionship with view column/sql query column.
    Then you already know what the field represents. So validate it in the gui and not via the database.
    The first is way more advanced since you have to cover any input, any column, any case etc. Pluss add ranking. Lots of work for someone who have done little searchengines.
    Latter is simpler, but might also be limiting.Huh?
    As an example if you have a call center then the operators are not going to be doing unrestricted searches to find customers. They are going to look using a very limited set of data like the customer name and telephone number.

    My job is very much like an consulent. They got an app, I shall add a new feature. The app is old and ugly coded. My boss ask how long it takes to make this, I say 2months, he decide 1 month. My dev time for features is rarely above 1 month, and I don't make much new apps.
    So I don't have the time to make advanced codegenerator, or spend time to evaluate various frameworks. Bringing an framework into the existing code is actually difficult. But I do want to improve the code, and add good code into the existing app that can be extended without evil pain.
    That doesn't jive with your OP. You made the following statement "My app have like 25 tables now, and I could easily get away with hand-make everything,...".
    That suggests that you are doing much more than simply updating an existing application.
    If you only need to add one new field then you should do only that. You shouldn't be attempting to add a system spanning validation system.
    On the other hand if you are in fact adding a validation system, then code generation makes it likely that it would take less time or no more than the same. And it is less likely to introduce bugs.
    Learn how to make an code generator? Well I guess thats what I asked help for - point me in the right direction if you could pls. Putting strings together to become code in an logic way is usually manageable, at least for simple querys. Evaluating that the generated code is good/safe - got no good clues...
    Learn about frameworks? Got no time. Hope I will get the time, but I won't. The customer must want to spend the money so I can get the time, that won't happen cause an framework does not add features, its only cost saving in terms of dev time, and maintenance time. The customer have no such focus/interest. They got a bit money to spend now and then regularily. i.e. government.
    I just want to try code as good as possible so I save myself from errors, painfull rewrites, and dev-time that gets out of proportions because of stupid code. So the question is actually about me trying to improve myself, its just that i don't know how right now.There are two goals.
    1. Implement a specific feature in an existing application.
    2. Learn a new way to solve problems.
    Nothing says that the second will help with the first. They should be addressed separately and your post doesn't make it clear what the first is so it is hard to say how it should be down.
    As for the second I already made a suggestion which provides two new ways to solve problems.

  • Control break on column displayed as link in Interactive Report

    Hi,
    If someone can help me, i'd greatly appreciate it!
    I created an interactive report - one of the columns has a link attached to url specified in the Report Attributes/ link section.
    When I use the control break feature in the gear icon, the report seems to be grouped by the url/link and not by the actual column value.
    When I remove the link from the column - all is fine and the break does work.
    This column must get displayed as a link. Is there any workaround for this problem?
    Thanks,
    Hindy

    Hi,
    I don't know the details of the procedure, but you would have something like:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE "print_model_change"
      v_acctnum NUMBER,
      v_model VARCHAR2,
      v_rrcode NUMBER
    AS
    BEGIN
      .. DO SOMETHING WITH v_acctnum, v_model, v_rrcode
    END;This needs to be updated to something like:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE "print_model_change"
      v_manager_model NUMBER
    AS
    BEGIN
      DECLARE
        v_acctnum NUMBER;
        v_model VARCHAR2;
        v_rrcode NUMBER;
      BEGIN
        SELECT ACCTNUM, MODEL, RRCODE
        INTO v_acctnum, v_model, v_rrcode
        FROM .. your report's FROM statement plus ..
        WHERE MANAGER_MODEL = v_manager_model;
        .. DO SOMETHING WITH v_acctnum, v_model, v_rrcode
      END;
    END;and followed by:
    GRANT EXECUTE ON "print_model_change" TO PUBLICto make it available
    The existing code receives all the data it would need (presumably). The updated code receives the manager_model value and, using the same FROM clause that you have for your report PLUS a WHERE clause (or, if you are using a WHERE clause in your report, change this to AND), finds the data that it needs for v_acctnum etc. After it has that data, the rest of the existing code can be used unchanged.

  • Column names dynamically in Dynamic SQL

    Hi All,
    We can use Table Name dynamically in Dynamic SQL.
    Can we use column names dynamically?
    Thanks,
    Umasankar

    Hi Todd Barry,
    Thanks lot for your immediate response.
    Could you please tell me, how can we use column name dynamically?
    I tried but, I didnt get the correct result.
    Here is my coding.
    Declare
    SQL_String Varchar2(2000);
    Category varchar2(50):= 'ELECTRO_PLATING_413';
    Type ConstCurTyp is REF CURSOR;
    Const_Cv ConstCurTyp;
    vLab_name varchar2(80);
    Begin
    Execute Immediate 'Truncate table tto_lab_names';
    dbms_output.put_line(category);
    dbms_output.put_line(' ');
    SQL_String := 'Select lab_name from tto_constituents where :category is not null';
    Open Const_cv for SQL_String using category;
    Loop
    Fetch Const_Cv into vLab_Name;
    Exit When Const_Cv%NotFound;
    Insert into lab_names values(vLab_name);
    End Loop;
    Commit;
    Close Const_Cv;
    End;
    I am getting all the lab_names as result.
    Thanks,

  • Presentation Layer column name change effects on existing reports ?

    Hello Gurus,
    I have one requirement where user are not sure about the column names in Presentation Layer.
    so they want us to create the reports and once the reports are delivered they will give us the column name as per their requirement.
    now i read couple of blogs related to this, that does it affects the exiting reports?
    in couple of blogs they says that i won't. becaus BI server creates the alias for the old name and will reflects it wherever it's used in reports..
    So can anyone tell me where this alias name has been stored in OBIEE?
    and is there any precaution that needs to be done while doing this beacuse we are expecting to create around 40-50 reports and changing the column name after changing the presentation layer name change will increase lots of work..
    Thanking You..

    I've confirmed it on a 10g environment that when you rename the column in the RPD the existing reports reflect the change.
    What I was referring to in the statement you highlight is that a column name can be changed when being used as the definition of a report. If somebody specifies an abbreviation of the current name to fit it in a table or chart then it will not be updated from a name change in the RPD.
    So long as you build reports using the name provided by the RPD and none of the developers take the liberty of renaming it in the column properties of the request/analyses the single rename should take effect through all the reports you build.
    You can also manage the column name by renaming it in a report and using the save as system wide default. But the way you intend to do it would be the best method.

  • How to know a table column name in HTML (Hyperion Interactive Reporting).

    Hello,
    I have a Hyperion Interactive Reporting dashboard section with an embembed table section on it.
    The dashboard it will be open only in HTML.
    I put the table as Active, so i can interact with her.
    So, what I need to know now is how can I know the column name or number when I double click in one cell of the table.
    Can anyone help me with this?
    Thank you in advance,
    Carlos

    Views don't have primary keys though their underlying tables might. You'd need to pick apart the view to determine where it's columns are coming from.
    You can select the text of the view in question from user_views.

  • SQL report link to another report

    Hello,
    I am using Apex 4 and trying to link an sql report with another report. If I were able to use an interactive report I could easily link that to another page, but that would require me to have a primary key. The problem is that I need to link a few tables. So two questions:
    1.) Can I link these via an HTML link to my other page? I would have a HTML link in my report that would link via URL parameter passing. So can I use HTML in a report?
    2.) What is the syntax for a parameter passing via URL? Here is my link that would be:
    a href= f?p=107:40:&APP_SESSION::::P40_NAME:MARK: Are there any other ways to accomplish this?
    Thanks,
    Mark

    I am using Apex 4 and trying to link an sql report with another report. If I were able to use an interactive report I could easily link that to another page
    It's easy in standard reports< /a>. (Ignore the "Interactive Report" typo in step 1.)
    1.) Can I link these via an HTML link to my other page? I would have a HTML link in my report that would link via URL parameter passing. So can I use HTML in a report?You can, but it's better practice to keep data retrieval and HTML structure separate when possible&mdash;in this case by using declarative Column Links.
    2.) What is the syntax for a parameter passing via URL?This is also covered in the documentation.
    Here is my link that would be: a href= f?p=107:40:&APP_SESSION::::P40_NAME:MARK:
    {quote}
    That looks to have the order of the parameters correct, but it's missing some syntax:<a href="f?p=107:40:&APP_SESSION.::::P40_NAME:MARK">...</a>
    The static text exact substitution method of referencing the value of an APEX item requires a terminating dot ("."): <tt>&APP_SESSION.</tt>

  • Lowercase first letter in column name of non-interactive report..Again

    A couple of days ago a posted a question on how to make the column name in a non-interactive report
    come out as lowercase. (original post: Lowercase first letter in column name of non-interactive report
    I am using Theme13, which is probably the only theme that forces the first letter
    of a column name in a report to uppercase.
    Anyway, I received several responses including the answer which I applied to my page.
    Then I went back to make the column sortable and that negates the CSS override and
    the first letter in the column name is back to uppercase...arrrggghhh!
    Are there any further suggestions on how to force this to lowercase with theme 13 and a sortable column?
    Thanks
