I am executing an ALV report in background , in front end i am getting data properly, in back end for some columns some of the digits are missing.For example if PO no is of 10 digits it will display only 8 becos column size is like that , how to extract coulmns in back ground.

If not use Docking container instead of custom container, For ALV in back ground jobs, its suggest to use docking container instead of custom container , below you can find the declaration for docking container and code to use docking and custom container in your program for fore and back ground.

Visual Composer 7.2 SP3 - Adjust column widths of ALV tables by end user

Hello,
we're using ALV tables with values coming out of function modules and queries.
Unfortunately I can't see an opportunity to adjust column widths at runtime by the end user. This is in contrast to VC 7.0 using flex.
Is there a way to archieve this?

Hello Stefan,
This is a feature of Webdynpro Flex runtime. You can adjust column widths at Flex runtime in 720 SP3 also.
This is not supported by Webdynpro HTML runtime.

ALV GRID Display Column Width problem when filtering

   When i displaying ALV Grid Display ,i selected one column and set filter for that.
the problem is column width at display is 12 charecters but in filter it is allowing only 10 charecters to enter which is wrong. i am unable to set filter.please give solution.

Setting ALV Column width

Hi experts,
I'm trying to set fixed width in my ALV report.
I using set_width to set the fixed width.
But I could not get the fixed width.
data salv_column type ref to cl_salv_wd_column.
salv_column->set_width( '4' ).
When I try this i'm getting like belwo.
if my Header text is 'Test Column', and width = 4.
I could able to see the header text fully (Test column).
But I should see only Test and in the 2nd row it should show Column
Any idea of doing it???

ALV Cannot change Column Width in Field Catalog

Hi,
I have an ALV report where I want to specifically set the field widths of the columns because some of the standard domain lengths are very large (e.g. 255 chars).
I am building the field catalog like this:
CLEAR gs_fieldcat.
gs_fieldcat-col_pos      = 1.
gs_fieldcat-fieldname    = 'NAME_ORG1'.
gs_fieldcat-scrtext_m    = 'Employer Name'.
gs_fieldcat-dd_outlen = 40.
APPEND gs_fieldcat TO gt_fieldcat.
then calling the ALV like this:
CALL METHOD go_alv->set_table_for_first_display
    CHANGING
      it_outtab                     = gt_evm_pm_data
      it_fieldcatalog               = gt_fieldcat .
gt_fieldcat is based on structure LVC_S_FCAT.
However, this has no effect on the column widths.
What am I doing wrong?

ALV grid - column width doesn't get optimized

My program displays ALV grid in PBO:

I have a custom button in the standard toolbar which I use to repopulate the grid if a certain criteria is met. To repopulate the grid I am using method:
   CALL METHOD grid1->refresh_table_display.
So on initial display the grid has column width optimized.
But when I do refresh - the columns don't get optimized.
What is wrong?

It seems that you have to call method go_grid->set_frontend_layout a second time but please do not ask me when and where (PBO vs. PAI, before/after REFRESH_TABLE_DISPLAY).
However, you are definitely on the safe side if you simply call the entire
CALL METHOD grid1->set_table_for_first_display
    EXPORTING
    i_structure_name      = 'IT_REPORT_X'
      is_layout            = gs_layout
      is_print             = gs_print
      it_toolbar_excluding = it_exclude
    CHANGING
      it_outtab        = it_report_x
      it_fieldcatalog = gt_fcat.
again at PBO. Disadvantage: scroll positions get lost.

Fix ALV column width independent of content

Hi All,
I need to fix ALV column width independent of content. If I set the width of column as 10 and when the content is 20 characters long, the column expands to 20. I want the width of column to be fixed irrespective of content. I tried all properties available for ALV column and table but couldn't figure it out. We are on ECC 6.0 ENHP4. Any ideas how to achieve this.

I believe that I have done this setting fixed layout to true, and then manually setting the column widths in the code.
lo_model->if_salv_wd_table_settings~set_fixed_table_layout( abap_true )

How to fix the width of the column when using alv table

I am displaying the contents in a table. Of course using alv component i displayed the content. Now the problem is the column width is not fixed with value of the table entries( based on the domain length level). As length of field increases or decreses as the length of the content increases or decreases. I wanted to fix the column width whatever be the length of the contents.

REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY (column headings from ALV to EXCEL) Max please help

I am using

It is working well. In ALV display the column heading is changed to what I wanted. But the question is when I export the displayed ALV to Excel using ALV functionality, Export->Spreadsheet... I see that <b>I dont get the Column Heading into Excel as it was in the ALV display.</b>
I get in the Excel as 'Material u' or 'Mat. Used'. But when I add this line in the code.....
when 'Material'.
     field_wa-seltext_l = 'Material used'.
     field_wa-seltext_m = 'Material used'.
     field_wa-seltext_s = 'Material used'.
    <b> field_wa-outputlen = 20.</b>
Then I see that I get the complete heading in the Excel. But this way the columns with outputlen 20 are taking much space in ALV display.
Is there any fix for this. May be not mentioning the outputlen but still get the column headings into Excel as it was in ALV display.

The labels have a fixed size:
seltext_l is long   text: 20 char
seltext_m is medium text: 15 char
seltext_s is short text: 10 char
The text 'Material used' is long 13 char so you should write:
field_wa-seltext_l = 'Material used'.
field_wa-seltext_m = 'Material used'.
field_wa-seltext_s = 'Mat. used'.
You can try to set the field colwidth_optimize of parameter IT_LAYOUT.
This field should optimize the width of the colunm
So
data layout type SLIS_LAYOUT_ALV.
layout-colwidth_optimize = 'X'.

Column-width in SALV with web-dynpro ABAP

can anyone help me? I want to set the column width to a fix value e.g. 50px.
How can i do this in SAP List Viewer for ABAP Web Dynpro? At the moment i use this code:

lo_value->if_salv_wd_table_settings~set_width( '100%' ).
lo_value->if_salv_wd_table_settings~set_fixed_table_layout( 'X' ).
The effect is that there are 6 columns all the same width. Is it possible to fix width for one specific column??

You need to set OUTPUTLEN field from field catalog table for every column.
DATA lt_fieldcat TYPE lvc_t_fcat
DATA lw_fcat type lvc_s_fcat .
lw_fcat-fieldname = 'BNAME' .
lw_fcat-inttype = 'C' .
lw_fcat-outputlen = '12' . -----> for e.g. set width of column BNAME
lw_fcat-coltext = 'User Name' .
lw_fcat-seltext = 'User Name' .
APPEND lw_fcat to lt_fieldcat .
