Combo-box format static

I tryed posting this question before with no success, so I
thought I would
re-explain.
i am using a combo box component (using flash mx 2004 pro)
and have been
able to customize the fonts, colour, etc. of the list once
the user clicks
on the combo box, but can not figure out how to make the
initial combox
box text use the embedded font. Any suggestions?

    I had came across another workaround as stated here.

    The popup's is having enough width to show all items. However, it is not perfect still, as the width is little too much. I still can see some extra space at the tailing of the list.

  • Determine the best width for ListCellRenderer - Multi-column combo box

    Currently, I am having a multi column combo box. In order for the column to align properly during show popup, I use box layout to do so. However, the short coming for box layout is that, the size for each column is fixed. This makes me have a difficulty, when I have a long string to be displayed. The problem is shown through the following screen shoot.

    This is because in 2nd column,
    1) All the 3 rows must be in same size so that they are aligned.
    2) But 1st row and 2nd row cell renderer, do not know 3rd row is holding such a long string.
    The code (2 files) to demo this problem is as follow. Is there any way the size of the cell will be adjusted automatically? Yet, all the row will be aligned properly.

    2) But 1st row and 2nd row cell renderer, do not know 3rd row is holding such a long string.There is only one cell renderer for all rows, so no need for the rows to know each other.
    To calculate the exact maximum width of column two, you have to check each entry.
    If you can do this BEFORE creating the combo, you could do this in a loop similar to this pseudo code
    FontMetrics fm= jComboBox1.getFontMetrics(jComboBox1.getFont());
    foreach (column2String) {
      int length= fm.stringWidth(column2String);
      if (length>max) max= length;
    }Now you have a max value to dimension jLabel2 in your renderer.
    If you don't fill your combo in one go, but rather at runtime, you have to check at each
    jComboBox1.addItem(...)
    whether the string for label2 is extending the current max, redefine max, and repaint the combo.
    This second approach I haven't done so far, but that's how I would try.

  • Enum au format Combo Box

    Bonjour à tous,
    J'utilise Labview 7.1.
    Dans mon VI, je câble un enum sur une structure condition, jusque là pas de soucis. Je peux ajouter à la structure autant de condition que d'enum définis.
    Par contre le fonctionnement séquentiel de l'enum ne me plait pas. Je voudrais qu'il ait le comportement d'une combo box, clairement affiché comme une combo box (flêche qui permet de déployer le menu déroulant, puis sélection de la valeur voulue). Je sais qu'on peut déjà le faire avec l'enum de base, mais sur une IHM on ne le voit pas directement.
    J'ai essayé de câbler une combo box (string) sur uns structure condition mais ça ne fonctionne pas, je n'ai que les conditions "true" et "false".
    Y a t'il une fonction Enum, mais avec le comportement exact au niveau IHM d'une combo box ?

    Une liste déroulante peut contenir n'importe quelle chaine de caractère, c'est pour cela que la structure condition ne s'auto-complète pas. Par contre, il n'y a pas de problème en terme de fonctionnement : il suffit de remplacer "true" et "false" par les valeurs attendues de la liste déroulante. Pour les autres valeurs, il faudra avoir un cas "Défaut".
    De façon intermédiaire, les menu déroulants (à coté des énum) sont des entiers potentiellement non séquencés auxquels on donne une représentation graphique sous forme de chaine. Inconvénient : on ne voit pas la chaine lorsqu'on cable un menu déroulant à une structure condition, on voit la valeur numérique.

  • Adding an event listener to combo box

    I am working on a mortgage calculator and I cannot figure out how to add an event listener to a combo box.
    I want to get the mortgage term and interest rate to calucate the mortgage using the combo cox. Here is my program.
    Modify the mortgage program to allow the user to input the amount of a mortgage
    and then select from a menu of mortgage loans: 7 year at 5.35%, 15 year at 5.50%, and
    30 year at 5.75%. Use an array for the different loans. Display the mortgage payment
    amount. Then, list the loan balance and interest paid for each payment over the term
    of the loan. Allow the user to loop back and enter a new amount and make a new
    selection, with resulting new values. Allow user to exit if running as an application
    (can't do that for an applet though).

    The OP already did this to both JComboBoxes.
    mochatay, here is a new actionPerformed method for you to use.
    I've improved a few things here and there...
    1) You can't just cast the ActionEvent's source into a JComboBox!
    What if it was a JButton that fired the event? Then you would get ClassCastExceptions (I'm sure you did)
    So check for all options, what the source of the ActionEvent actually was...
    2) You can't assume the user will always type in valid data.
    So enclose the Integer and Double parse methods in try-catch brakcets.
    Then you can do something when you know that the user has entered invalid input
    (like tell him/her what a clumsy idiot they are !)
    3) As soon as user presses an item in any JComboBox, just re-calculate.
    I did this here by programmatically clicking the 'Calculate' button.
    Alternatively, you could have a 'calculate' method, which does everything inside the
    if(command==calculateButton) if-block.
    This will be called when:
    a)calculateButton is pressed
    b)when either of the JComboBoxes are pressed.

  • Help with linking combo boxes so that some options are made unavailable

    Hello!
    I'm having trouble setting up an interactive PDF form with multiple combo boxes.
    I have designed an interactive PDF form in InDesign CS6 but am doing the final preparation and formatting in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro.
    First of all, I am not sure if I should be using combo boxes or list boxes, but the combo box seemd to look better after I export the PDF and also left the field blank, ready for selection from the drop-down menu.
    Basically I have a list of drop-down lists, but not all combinations are compatible. For example, after maing "Selection 1" in "Combo box 1", I need only "Selection 1", "2", and "3" [out of the total 5] to be available in "Combo box 2".
    I need to be able to apply this algorhythm to the next few combo boxes as well.
    Moreover, I would need some of the checkboxes disabled [the user won't be able to check them at all]when I make a certain selection in some of the combo boxes.
    Needless to say, I don't know any Java, coding or making calculations in LiveCycle Designer, so I don't even know where to begin.
    I have attached a screen grab of my form and what I want to achieve.

    If it is static data, I would suggest you to cache it rather than having it in each of the user session. You can have configuration/code to refresh when needed. Please look at any available caching frameworks (EhCache, OSCache etc...)

  • How can I make the combo box turn to the value of black.

    When the show button is pressed (and not before), a filled black square should be
    displayed in the display area. The combo box (or drop down list) that enables the user to choose the colour of
    the displayed shape and the altering should take effect immediately.When the show button is pressed,
    the image should immediately revert to the black square, the combo box should show the value that
    correspond to the black.
    Now ,the problem is: after I pressed show button, the image is reverted to the black square,but I don't know
    how can I make the combo box turn to the value of black.

  • Problem in refreshing the combo box on selection of an item in another comb

    I have a situation where values to be displayed in 2nd combo box depends on the selection of an item from the 1st combo box.
    Problem observed:
    The 2nd combo box is not getting refreshed if the selected item from the 1st combo box has mapping to more than 10 items.

    the very simple strategy to do is to call removeAllItems() method for the 2nd combox box and then insert the contents. this is because the validate() method is not repeatedly called and so the contents are not updated immediately.

  • How to populate the second combo box by depending on the selection in 1st?

    I have two combo boxes, both of data in the lists come from the database. The list in the second will be changed when the selection is changed in the first one. I am trying to do query again in the ActionPerform function, unfortunately the list in second one doesn't change.

  • Simple combo box question

    I have Flash MX 2004 Pro. I want to create a
    movie/graphic/button ( not sure which one yet) of a county
    (obviously from a state map) and I want to have all of the counties
    (over 40) listed in a Combo Box. I would like the Combo box to
    automatically be updated/populated every time I create a
    movie/graphic/button of a county. I would like to be able to click
    on a county name in the combo box and have the county highlighted.
    While the graphic part is doable, I am asking for help with the
    scripts.
    One more thing: I have a text box that I want to have data
    displayed only for the specific county. So I am thinking of
    creating a text box that is invisible in the State swf but will be
    viewable when the county is selected (mouse over or thru the combo
    box). Do I have to use the scripts to make it viewable when the
    movie is selected?
    Is this even possible with my version of Flash and if so,
    does anyone have some codes I can look at?

    As far as the text goes, there are several ways to do that.
    Simplest way is to make the text visible when rolled over and
    invisible when rolled out. That way you get the text positioned and
    formated the way you want. It isn't the best method in terms of
    maintenance. A better method is have one text clip that you can
    position in relation to the (x,y) coordinates of the highlighted
    county and pull the text for the county from an array. The latter
    requires more script but is easier to go back and change since all
    you do is update an array.
    I just noticed a line in the onRollOut
    this[this._parent._name + "menu"].selectedIndex = 0;
    that will serve you no purpose whatsoever. I missed deleting
    that from the script I modified to post to you. It doesn't hurt
    anything since it targets nothing you have

    can someone help me out on a issue as it follows:-
    iam developing an application where Iam using xsl,html,javascript and xml.
    There is no existense of Database at all. data is read from xml.
    now,
    In a window there are 3 frames. In the 1st frame combo box is there.
    Based on the selection in the combo box data will be displayed in the 2nd frame.
    now onchange or onselect methods not giving the expected result.
    actually,in the the xsl which is having 3 frames,the 1st and 3rd frame
    calling src="abc.xml" and src="abc.xml"which are static.
    but in the 2nd frame the data need to be changed dynamically.
    I have given frame name="frame_ExchangeDetails2" rows="3%" src="cc_marketWatch_02.xml"/>
    usually data dynamically comes from database.but here i have to refer xml file
    something like [window.href.location="abc.xml"]
    but the problem is when you refer supose:-

    the frame is having static page,though there are functions in javascript which are called in onload and onchange.which are not working.

  • Elements 9 only shows 3gb ram, 12 on computer?

    I have 12gb of ram installed on my computer running windows 7 64 bit. does anyone know how to use more than the 3255 it shows?
