CommandButton with immediate / Passing Parameters

Hello everyone,
I have an issue that I was hoping someone might be able to help me with.
I have a navigation column on all of my pages which gives the users the ability to enter a "product id" in a text box and click the "submit" button to go directly to that product from any area of the web site.
My problem is, it tries to submit the current form before handling the action the button is mapped to. So, if they are on a page which does not pass validation, it'll prevent them from using the action successfully.
So, this is a perfect place for the immediate attribute so that the action is handled first.
My problem is, how can I pass the contents of the text box to the action with the immediate attribute set to true?
Thanks so much!
Matt

I guess I fixed my own problem, unless someone else knows a work around.
I set the immediate attribute of the inputText to true and then added a valueChangeListener to update the managed backing bean for the action to process.
Is the the correct way to do this?
Thanks!
Matt

  • Composing a view with JSPs passing parameters (JSF 1.2)

    hi,
    I want to include a JSP in another twice. The two includes should work on different backing bean instances. (Of cource the include contains JSF components)
    Business case: An insurance policy has one reference to a person in the role insured person and another in the role policy owner. I would like to use the same JSP to present the two persons.
    Here is the question
    - Is it possible to pass parameters to an included JSP?
    - I tried it out (see code below) and it did not work using the reference implementaion 1_02-b08. Is there a mistake in the code or is this not supported? I checked the spec, but chapter 9.2.9 does not provide any information about the topic.
    - If this is not supported, how is this solved using standard jsp/jsf?
    (I know I can use facelets, but I expect a a solution in the standard)
    Kind regards
    Jan
    view.jsp:
    <f:view>
        <!-- the 'policy' is a managed bean with session scope  -->
        <jsp:include page="person.jsp>
            <jsp:param name="person" value="#{policy.insuredPerson}" />
        </jsp:include>
        <jsp:include page="person.jsp>
            <jsp:param name="person" value="#{policy.policyOwner}" />
        </jsp:include>
    </f:view>
    person.jsp (example displays the person's name)
    <h:outputText value="#{param.person.name}"></h:outputText>

    This is definitely supported in Apache Trinidad or Oracles ADF look at documentaion associated with Regions. I implemented this, in insurance policy, where we have each risk as a separate region that can be selectively included on a page.
    I know of no way of doing this in reference implemenation

  • Pass parameters to MNU_eDATA_SELECTPACKAGE macro

    Hi!
    Is it possible to pass additional parameters to MNU_eDATA_SELECTPACKAGE (dimension members to fill promt automatically)?
    Thank you in advance for any help.

    Dear Andrei Loginovskiy,
    Unfortunately, it's impossible to run packages from VBA with automatic passing parameters to package (at least at the current moment).
    However, it's possble to solve your problem for running scripts.
    I have created workaround for running Script Logic with parameteres. So, the user just click the button, VBA determine parameters for the script.
    We created indepedent cube with dimensions which can be used as parameters for script. Also we created special dimension TASK which attributes describe script which has to be run and the cube (in which the script have to be run). Then we created BADI (ABAP) which catch saving records to this cube, load parameters from the records and run scripts which is saved in attributes of TASK.
    Some important points:
    - dimensions which are used for these cube contain special base members which describe aggregated members through attributes, so the badi can be run for "2010.TOTAL" or "ALL_ENTITIES"
    - To run scripts we are using RUNLOGIC technology which has been created in 7.5 SP4 but it doesn't mean that it is impossible to run ABAP functions which compile and run script logic in 7.0 or 7.5 SP3 version.
    This technology seems to be a little bit difficult however it is not difficult to realize. Practically, this technology is part of our custom developed workflow. if you want you can write me, I will provide your contacts of the freelancer who write me BADIs for this design.

  • JSF commandButton with Parameters

    Hello,
    How can I pass parameters to backing bean through commandButton?

    Could you pl tell me how to pass parameter thru CommandButton
    I have the following situation
    1) greetingList.faces which list the Ids & greeting Text
    Id Text
    1 Hello World
    2 Hello World
    2) Pl note Ids are h:commandLink. A click on the Id will render greetingForm.faces with data pertaining to that Id and with Update h:CommandButton
    3) When i click Update button it results in the following error
    javax.faces.FacesException: Error calling action method of component with id greetingForm:_id4
    Caused by: javax.faces.el.EvaluationException: Exception while invoking expression #{greetingForm.update}
    Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException
    So i verified with h:message that Id is passed as Null when click on Update button. I also checked greetingForm.faces has a not null value by printing <h:outputText value="#{greetingForm.message.id}"/>
    So i guess the Id value is overwriteen with null. Also i have defined Id as property in managed bean
    <managed-bean-name>greetingForm</managed-bean-name>
    <managed-bean-class>com.mycompany.GreetingForm</managed-bean-class>
    <managed-bean-scope>request</managed-bean-scope>
    <managed-property>
    <property-name>id</property-name>
    <value>#{param.id}</value>
    </managed-property>
    Any pointers/suggestions at the earliest on how to pass the value of Id on a click of update button from greetingForm.faces to greetingForm.java will be highly appreciated
    I am willing to upload my war file

  • Issue with passing parameters through Java-JSP in a report with cross tab

    Can anyone tell me, if there's a bug in Java SDK in passing the parameters to a report (rpt file) that has a cross tab in it ?
    I hava report that works perfectly fine
       with ODBC through IDE and also through browser (JSP page)
    (ii)    with JDBC in CR 2011 IDE
    the rpt file has a cross tab and accpts two parameters.
    When I run the JDBC report through JSP the parameters are never considered. The same report works fine when I remove the cross tab and make it a simple report.
    I have posted this to CR SDK forum and have not received any reply. This have become a blocker and because of this our delivery has been postponed. We are left with two choices,
       Re-Write the rpt files not to have cross-tabs - This would take significant effort
    OR
    (ii)  Abandon the crystal solution and try out any other java based solutions available.
    I have given the code here in this forum posting..
    CR 2011 - JDBC Report Issue in passing parameters

    TIA
    DRG

    Mr.James,
    Thank you for the reply.
    As I stated earlier, we have been using the latest service pack (12) when I generated the log file that is uploaded earlier.
    To confirm this further, I downloaded the complete eclipse bundle from sdn site and reran the rpt files. No change in the behaviour and the bug is reproducible.
    You are right about the parameters, we are using  {?@Direction} is: n(1.0)
    {?@BDate} is: dt(d(1973-01-01),t(00:00:00.453000000)) as parameters in JSP and we get 146 records when we directly execute the stored procedure. The date and the direction parameter values stored in design time are different. '1965-01-01' and Direction 1.
    When we run the JSP page, The parameter that is passed through the JSP page, is displayed correctly on the right top of the report view. But the data that is displayed in cross tab is not corresponding to the date and direction parameter. It corresponds to 1965-01-01 and direction 1 which are saved at design time.
    You can test this by modifying the parameter values in the JSP page that I sent earlier. You will see the displayed data will remain same irrespective of the parameter.
    Further to note, Before each trial run, I modify the parameters in JSP page, build them and redeploy so that caching does not affect the end result.
    This behaviour, we observe on all the reports that have cross-tabs. These reports work perfectly fine when rendered through ODBC-ActiveX viewer and the bug is observable only when ran through Java runtime library. We get this bug on view, export and print functionalities as well.
    Additionally we tested the same in
        With CR version 2008 instead of CR 2011.
    (ii)   Different browsers ranging from IE 7 through 9 and FF 7.
    The complete environment and various softwares that we used for this testing are,
    OS      : XP Latest updates as on Oct 2011.
    App Server: GlassFish Version 3 with Java version 1.6 and build 21
    Database server ; SQL Server 2005. SP 3 - Dev Ed.
    JTds JDBC type 4 driver version - 1.2.5  from source forge.
    Eclipse : Helios along with crystal libraries directly downloaded from SDN site.
    I am uploading the log file that is generated when rendering the rpt for view in IE 8

  • Help in passing parameters along with  URL

    Hi All,
    I have a small web application in which I am passing some details to a servlet along with url.

    When I am checking req.getParameterNames(),I am able to see paramname 'OID-67856'

    Do we strictly need to follow paramName=paramValue pattern in order to work this on all application servers?
    It will be great if someone share me any specification documents regarding this .
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks in advance.Well, try turning it into ?OID-67856= (so an empty value) and see if it starts to work on WAS. Would have been a test of a few seconds, posting this question took you at least a minute.
    If even after trying it out you want hard proof, you should check the HTTP specifications (google for 'rfc http').

  • Issue with passing parameters to an applet?

    Hi,
    I have an apex page which is a popup page. I am passing parameters to the applet and then reading them in from my java code.
    Here is my applet code
    <SCRIPT>
      function getStatus(retStatus) {
        $s("P3_MESSAGE", ''||retStatus||'')
    </SCRIPT>
    <APPLET ARCHIVE="/i/bin/offline_load.zip" CODE="offline_load.class"  STATUSMSG WIDTH=0 HEIGHT=0>
    <PARAM name="username" value="&APP_USER.">
    <PARAM name="dbuser" value="&P3_DBUSER.">
    <PARAM name="dbpassword" value="&P3_DBPASSWORD.">
    <PARAM name="dbserver" value="&P0_DBSERVER.">
    <PARAM name="dbport" value="&P3_DBPORT.">
    <PARAM name="dbsid" value="&P3_DBSID.">
    </APPLET>P3_DBUSER, P3_DBPASSWORD, etc are all defined on page zero as hidden and protected items
    My applet code
    public void init() {
        CallableStatement load_stmt = null;
        String userName = this.getParameter("username");
        String dbUser = this.getParameter("dbuser");
        String dbPass = this.getParameter("dbpassword");
        String dbServer = this.getParameter("dbserver");
        String dbPort = this.getParameter("dbport");
        String dbSid = this.getParameter("dbsid");
        try {
          System.out.println("init(): loading OracleDriver for applet created at " + created.toString());
          Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
          System.out.println("init(): getting connection");
          conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@" + dbServer + ":" + dbPort + ":" + dbSid, dbUser, dbPass);
        } // end tryThe odd thing is I have gotten this working twice then unexpectedly it just stops working when I make a change to the java applet code.
    And the changes have absolutely nothing to do with the above code it can be anything the first time was error handling I added
    to another section and the second I modified a stored procedure call.
    Anyone have any idea why this might be occurring as this is driving me completely insane :(
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    In your init() code, you have a "try" block - do you have a "finally" block to close the connection? Something like:
    finally {
      try {
        conn.close();
      catch (Exception ignore) {
    }Could it be that you have reached the limit of the number of available open connections?
    Your code looks ok as far as I can see (based on examples at: http://www.orafaq.com/wiki/JDBC )
    Also, in your new bits of code, have you added try/catch/finally blocks? Does the code compile fully (ie, no warnings)? Have you added new imports that may conflict with existing code such that you have to fully qualify existing objects/classes (eg, you may now have two DriverManager classes or CallableStatement objects)?

  • Passing parameters with spaces to SCCM Run PowerShell Script task

    I am working on an OS deployment task sequence in SCCM 2012 R2 with several Run PowerShell Script tasks.  Most of them run fine, but I am having trouble with the one I need to pass parameters to.
    The parameters I need to pass are:
    -ComputerOU "ou=All Workstations,dc=contoso,dc=com" -GroupDN "cn=Group1,ou=All Groups,dc=contoso,dc=com"
    I have that line (with actual DNs) entered in Parameters of the task.
    But when the script runs on the target machine, the values of the parameters in the script are truncated at the spaces.  $ComputerOU is set to "ou=All" and $GroupDN is set to "cn=Group1,ou=all"
    What syntax should I be using the Parameters field of the Task in order to properly pass PowerShell parameter string values that include spaces?
    Tim Curwick
    MadWithPowerShell.com

    Thank you, TC, but I am not calling the parameters from within PowerShell.
    The parameters are in the settings of a task sequence task to be used by the task to launch a script.  The syntax I am using would be correct for use within PowerShell or from a command line or batch script, but SCCM appears to be doing some parsing
    before or while it is passing them to the script, possibly dropping the quotes which causes mishandling of the spaces in the string values.
    Historically, it is always challenging to give one application parameters to pass to another application, and the required syntax can get quite tricky when the two application handle quotes or spaces differently, or when the parent application wants to parse
    something intended to be passed on as is to the child application.
    I'm sure someone has already figured out what the syntax needs to be for doing this with an SCCM 'Run PowerShell Script" task, it's just one of those issues that is hard to Google effectively.
    Any other ideas?

  • Passing Parameters from JSP with Drill Down Graphs

    Hello,
    I have 2 JSP's where when user clicks on the bar graph it drill down and goes to next JSP, it is hyperlink. How can I pass parameters using HttpPortletRendererUtil.portletParameter
    My JSP code is something like this which is pasted below.
    StandardCategoryURLGenerator("xy_chart.jsp","series","section")) is the function, I need to use for drill down.
    Kindly help me with this and any help is highly appreciable.
    Thanks
    ************ JSP**************
    CategoryAxis categoryAxis = new CategoryAxis("Site");
    ValueAxis valueAxis = new NumberAxis("Value");
    StackedBarRenderer3D rend = new StackedBarRenderer3D();
    StandardCategoryToolTipGenerator tt = new StandardCategoryToolTipGenerator();
    rend.setItemURLGenerator(new StandardCategoryURLGenerator("xy_chart.jsp","series","section"));

    Trenton,
    One way to pass parameters to other portlets on the page while using a form is to create a hidden form field and assign it the value that you need to pass to it. If the hidden field has an unqualified name (i.e. not created by using the portletParameter method) then it will be seen by all portlets on the page.
    Since all the form fields are passed on to the query string as part of the URL, you can then use request.getParameter(paramName) to take different actions in your portlets.
    You could use different techniques where based on the values you pass on to parameters of the portlets, some portlets make specific updates to themselves. Though the whole page would be refreshed, you could allow portlets to decide based on the incoming parameter value whether they need to change or not.
    So given the functionality you desire - here's something you might try.
    1) Create hidden form field that gets populated when you select values from the drop-down lookup.
    One way to do this would be to add a onChange ="populateMyHiddenParam(this.form)" to your form item that changes.
    And you could add a small JavaScript function that populates the parameter.
    e.g.
    function populateMyHiddenParam(thisForm){
    thisForm.myHiddenParam.value=thisForm.elements[4].value;
    2)In the other JSP portlet (on the same page) where you need to populate a table based on the value selected, just get the parameter value passed by using request.getParameter("myHiddenParam").
    Since you want this parameter to be read by other portlets, you need to create it as an unqualified parameter. So dont call the HTTPPortletRendererUtil.portletParameter while assigning the name to the form component for the hidden field.
    Hope this helps.

  • Passing parameters from mapping to mapping with in process flows

    I am new to OWB and i would appreciate if any one can suggest me on how to solve the issue i have.
    I am trying to pass a parameter from one mapping to another mapping.
    ex: key need to be passed
    start ----->A--->B--->C----->END
    B needs to pass the key to mapping C
    In B i have mapping Out put parameter and in C i have a mapping input parameter.
    In process flow palatte i could see Key as OUT and in C properties i could bind it to Key .
    but i try to deploy this mapping i am getting error below
    PF_PKG Create Error
    RPE-02040: Internal error: KEY cannot be converted to a constant value. Please correct the value. If the problem persists then please contact Oracle Support with the stack trace and details on how to reproduce it.
    TEST_PFCreate INFORMATIONAL
    RPE-02071: Deployment has been aborted due to a previously reported critial error.
    please suggest me how to pass parameters between mappings with in a process flow.

    Hi
    You have to use process flow variables. So the output of map A, say parameter P would bind to variable V and then the input of map B, say Q would bind to variable V. In this way you can push parameters from one activity to the other. Although the UI lets you bind B.Q to A.P, it should not, I think there is a bug reported on this.

  • Passing Parameters to RDF Reports with Parameter_list in Forms9i

    Hi,
    I am trying the Oracle 9iDS, and I encounter a problem.
    When passing parameters to my reports, if my parameter contains the space or other special char, I cannot run the report. It give me the REP-56033.
    For example, it's my code:
    add_parameter(pl_id,TEXT_PARAMETER,' and deptno=56');
    Then, when I run the form. It cannot run the reports. In rwservlet/showjobs, I cannot see this job.
    And If I change the code to
    add_parameter(pl_id,TEXT_PARAMETER,'anddeptno=56');
    Of course I cannot get a correct output, but I use the rwservlet/showjobs to get this failed job.
    Any one can give me a hand. Thanks!

    Of course I use run_report_object. I can run my other report successfully.
    Just these report with special char parameter. I can not call them.
    And I can search out there are some questions about this problem in the forum. But they all arenot get the answer.
    Please help me.
    Anyone can try to run your report, or run the test.rdf, which is the demo given by oracle, with a paramters containing a space, such as ' aaa bbb'. You will find that the report cannot run. Even in the showjobs, u cannot find it!!!!
    Please!!!

  • Passing parameters from report to new page with portlets.

    Hello everyone:
    I have a plsql report portlet on a page that has a column that I would like to pass as a parameter to a new page to populate more portlets. I tried setting up a link but I can't seem to get the value in the column to pass as the parameter. I am a novice when it comes to developing portlets.
    Thanks in advance!

    The link is the way to go (at first). You have to create the link first. Then assign this link to the column that you want to the hyperlink to appear on - this assignment happens on the 2nd tab of the report (Column formatting) by choosing the newly created link in the link dropdown. After you have assigned the link to the column you must edit the assigned link where you can then choose the value that must be passed across.
    The link approach works fine, but there are limitations. I just do all the links in code these days - so in the report select statement I have <a href....>. This gives more flexibility. Ultimately there is the issue of passing parameters to forms: using links (or hand coded) you can pass parameters to reports (if param is also defined as input param with ":") and also forms, but all you can do with a form is to pass param that can be used to uniqeuly identify one record which is the one that will show in the form. Anything else (e.g. pass a param to prepopulate a field on the form) needs an even more complicated solution (:).
    Cheers.
    Anton.

  • Help with passing parameters to Aspell from C [SOLVED ENOUGH]

    I found this really cool utility called aspellstdout that will allow for rudimentary spell check in Scite:
    http://www.distasis.com/cpp/scitetip.htm#spell
    What I can't figure out (and the author didn't either) is how to pass parameters beyond language to Aspell. What I want to be able to do is pass mode switches. For instance, if I have a LaTeX document I want to be able to pass the -t switch (--mode=tex). I looked through aspell.h and couldn't see what I'm looking for.
    --EDIT--
    The output to xterm option is far easier and it makes quite a bit more sense now that I'm use to it. From my .SciTEUser.properties:
    # Rudimentary LaTeX Spell Checker
    command.name.2.$(file.patterns.tex)=Spell Check
    command.2.$(file.patterns.tex)=xterm -e aspell -t -c $(FileNameExt)
    command.subsystem.2.$(file.patterns.tex)=0
