Comment out some sections of Labview programs during debuging

In other programming such as VC or VB, we can always comment out some sections of our program so that the commented section are not executed during debuging. Is there any way to comment out some sections of Labview program during debugging?

YanWong wrote:
You can use a case structure to surround the section of the program you do not want to execute and then wire a false constant into the input so the case will never execute.
Also remember that doing this will only work if the code you "commenting" out must be executable. A broken run arrow will still be there after you put it in the Case Structure. If you are trying to comment out some broken code, you're out of luck, at least now.

Using the Abort button to stop your VI is like using a tree to stop your car. It works, but there may be consequences.

  • How to run labview program in debugging mode in windows 95 version

    Respected all,
    I am facing probelm while running probe.vi.
    I received this command "connection to acquisition board was not found" when i run labview program.
    I  am using labview 5.1, fieldpoint FP 1000, NI-DAQ 6.5, Field point explorer version 1.6, Measurement and Automation Explorer 1.0.1.
    I would kindly request you please help me how to run my program probe.vi in debugging mode in windows 95 version, so that i can locate where error occurs.
    Thanking You
    Yours faithfully
    M.Vijay

    Respected Norbert,
    Thank you very much to for your help.
    Norbert : Possible reasons are e.g. wrong IDs for measurement devices. If the error is connect to the FieldPoint, it is possible that it isn't configured correctly.
     I am using Field point explorer 1.6, The Field point instrument FP 1000 and RS-232 port is using. It is confirmed that the field point instrument is working properly by LED light indication test.
    Norbert: It sound like you are using DAQ devices (like PCI MIO 6952E) in the application. Are you sure that you select the correct device ID for this?
    I am asking you to know, If i using Labview and  Fieldpoint instrument FP 1000 to monitor my parameter interms of All, Channel 0, Channel 1, Channel 2, Channel 3, Channel 4, Channel 5, Channel 6, Channel 7 for my measurement.
    But now i need to solve the command connection to acquisition board was not found, The expert say this command is due to there was no AT-AO-10 Analog Output board was present in CPU.
    I do not find AT-AO-10 Analog Output board in my CPU, Previously the instrument was worked perfectly by other person who assembled everthing to measure temperature.
    The only aswer know send by previous person is if my task does not imply the use of a DAQ you probably have to locate where the DAQ driver is called and exclude it from the program. try to run the program in debugging mode so that you can locate where the error occurs.
    I do not know how to proceed his instruction. So i would kindly request you to please help me to solve my probelm.
    I also removed AT-AO-10 software from device manager >> Data Acquisition system >>  AT-AO-10 just now.
    I also find GPIB version 1.30, when i remove in add or remove program, it say that Error removing the GPIB.
    I am eagerly waiting for your help.
    Thanking You

  • Excel stays live as a process when terminating a program during debug

    Hi
    In my C# windows application I open an excel file with
    Excel.Application xlApp = new Excel.ApplicationClass();
    when in debug mode in VS I often stop the application mid process by clicking on "stop debugging" in the VS menu. I noticed that this seems to leave many opened
    EXCEL.EXE *32 processes (I see them in task manager)
    This eventually clogs my computer.
    I assume it is because the application never reached the
    xlApp.Quit();
    which I have when the application is in ordinary mode.
    What can I do about it so that I would not have all these processes staying alive after I stopped the program midway in debug?

    Hello,
    The short answer is too keep Task Manager open to the process tab and kill Excel when you stop prior to a normal termination of the project in debug mode.
    The proper method to shut Excel down is shown below. Now if you are not doing it this way most likely Excel is being disposed of when closing the form which has the Excel code in it or when the initial form closes.
    Very simple example to dispose of objects ASAP
    using Excel = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel;
    private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
    OpenExcelExample("SomeExcelFile.xlsx", "Sheet1");
    public void OpenExcelExample(string FileName, string SheetName)
    if (System.IO.File.Exists(FileName))
    bool Proceed = false;
    Excel.Application xlApp = null;
    Excel.Workbooks xlWorkBooks = null;
    Excel.Workbook xlWorkBook = null;
    Excel.Worksheet xlWorkSheet = null;
    Excel.Sheets xlWorkSheets = null;
    Excel.Range xlCells = null;
    xlApp = new Excel.Application();
    xlApp.DisplayAlerts = false;
    xlWorkBooks = xlApp.Workbooks;
    xlWorkBook = xlWorkBooks.Open(FileName);
    xlApp.Visible = false;
    xlWorkSheets = xlWorkBook.Sheets;
    // For/Next finds our sheet
    for (int x = 1; x <= xlWorkSheets.Count; x++)
    xlWorkSheet = (Excel.Worksheet)xlWorkSheets.get_Item(x);
    if (xlWorkSheet.Name == SheetName)
    Proceed = true;
    break;
    System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.FinalReleaseComObject(xlWorkSheet);
    xlWorkSheet = null;
    if (Proceed)
    Excel.Range xlRange1 = null;
    xlRange1 = xlWorkSheet.get_Range("A1");
    xlRange1.Value = "Hello";
    Marshal.FinalReleaseComObject(xlRange1);
    xlRange1 = null;
    xlWorkSheet.SaveAs(FileName);
    else
    MessageBox.Show(SheetName + " not found.");
    xlWorkBook.Close();
    xlApp.UserControl = true;
    xlApp.Quit();
    ReleaseComObject(xlCells);
    ReleaseComObject(xlWorkSheets);
    ReleaseComObject(xlWorkSheet);
    ReleaseComObject(xlWorkBook);
    ReleaseComObject(xlWorkBooks);
    ReleaseComObject(xlApp);
    MessageBox.Show("Done");
    else
    MessageBox.Show("'" + FileName + "' not located. Try one of the write examples first.");
    private void ReleaseComObject(object obj)
    try
    if (obj != null)
    System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ReleaseComObject(obj);
    obj = null;
    catch
    obj = null;
    If you don't have other instances open outside of Visual Studio you could write a utility to shut down all instances of Excel but why when you can do this in Task Manager process tab.

  • Commenting out code in TrueCode mode deletes code

    We used RoboHelp X3 and was trying to comment out specific
    sections of a code by moving over to the True Code view and
    commenting them out following the usual HTML standards/conventions.
    However, we found that when we saved the project, generated the
    file, and opened the topic(s) from the source project next time,
    the sections that we had commented out had actually got deleted.
    Could you please help me with this? Is there a specific way to
    comment out code in RoboHelp?

    (I began the earlier reply before I knew what I wanted to
    say).
    Is it possible that when those particular lines are commented
    out, the result is a syntax error in the remaining html or js code?
    Also, consider that html and js code techniques have come a
    long way since X3. Maybe your code is technically correct now, but
    X3 doesn't know it.
    Good luck.

    I want to reinstall CS4 as it has been doing some strange things regarding printing, etc. However, when I did this before, it created a major problem and I ended up buying a new computer because no one could figure out why it kept hanging up during the installation. Hours on the phone, no results. I'm scared to do it on this computer. Should I try? Not even the Adobe support could get it resolved. I believe it was somehow reading a product number that could not be deleted or something, and nothing worked.

    Hello, as an addition:
    In your case I would download a really new trial version of your program(s) in question and change it/them into a "real" version later, BUT because you said, that you "re-installed" already, so it will become a little bit more complicated. It would be necessary that you have to use "Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool" as Keith wrote.
    Here an advice for that (The order varies depending on your individual needs. Please read all my proposals first, so you can better choose the first step:)
    1. Maybe you have to activate/deactivate, so please have a look there:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html
    2. Sometimes, we know in the meantime, the "opm.db file" is the culprit. In this case you should delete it.
    3. Be careful with (de)installing aso. by (de)installing by your own resources. As much as I regret it and as strange as it may seem I fear it's a challenge for Adobe's Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. Sometimes - for whatever reasons - CC doesn't "want" to work. In this case you should CC completely delete and reinstall by help of Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. (A try to uninstall by own resources is not enough!)
    I quote: Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool helps resolve installation problems for Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Creative Suite (CS3-CS6) applications. The tool removes installation records for prerelease installations of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications. It does not affect existing installations of previous versions of Creative Cloud or Creative Suite applications.
    Please use: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html   and follow the prescribed sequence of operations
    4. If necessary and for further questions click through http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html and if "open" please use the chat, I for may part - as it seems unlike you - had the best experiences. • I have some software problems of running matlab script node in the LabVIEW program.

    Hi there,
    I wrote a simple matlab code, like x= 1, y = x*2. Then I tried to put them into matlab script node in LabVIEW.
    However, when I ran the program, I couldn't run and Labiew show some error.
    Then I tried the method talked before on this forum. Please see the following link.
    http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=MathScript&thread.id=571
    I followed the instruction and open the "command prompt," type some commands then I could run the program, and simultaneously, the LabVIEW program open "Matlab command line window" and run my labview code. However, if I didn't use the command prompt, the  "matlab command window" will not be opened by running the labview program. It would just show some error. And even if I turn on the matlab program in advance, I still couldn't run the labview program.
    Is there any effecient way to deal with this problem without using "command prompt?" Because I try another PC with both matlab and labview installed on it, I "can" run my simple matlab script node on it, and it will open the matlab command line window automatically by running my code. Therefore, I thought there might be some software linking problems in the previous PC I used . Do you have any ideas?
    Thanks in advacne.

    This board is for Mathscript, but you seem to have a matlab problem. You should probably post in the LabVIEW forum instead.
    What is your LabVIEW version? What is you matlab version?

    so I've changed my hard drive for an ssd and now I've been told to enable trim  ?  now I've got the apple cover will they show me how to enable it with out some program of the internet ?

    Use an app called chameleon ssd optimizer.
    I enabled trim with it after almost a year of having installed a Samsung 840 pro SSD and my read/write speeds almost quadrupled.
    I would definite;y advise using it even though Samsung SSD's come with there own garbage disposal.
    Hope that helps.

    Tried out some apps, then deleted them. They still show in App Store/iPad Apps/Purchased section. How to delete from there?

    You can't currently permanently delete any items from your purchase history, all you can do is hide them so that they don't appear on the Purchased tab : hiding and unhiding. As your iPad is on iOS 6 then you will need to do the hiding via your computer's iTunes, it doesn't currently work directly on iOS 6 devices

  • Help, Ni-Daq channel names and labview program error 10001?

    Can anyone please help me, I have inherited a role that I know nothing about. I have managed to get an NT pc to now recognise the SC-2345 board, set up and configure two channels and test them in Measurement and Automation program, this I managed after getting error 10401 and looking within these message boards which are very good.
    I have then started a labview program, previously written by ex-employee, and now get error 10001, after trawling the FAQ and forums I think that I have a naming error in the virtual channels created, how do I find out what the channels should be named within the Labview program, do I need to load an editor etc and then open a config file?
    Sorry if this seams like a simple error, but I am trying to learn the software from a book that is a little tattered.
    Regards

    Hi,
      error 10001 can be caused by a few things including an incorrect scanning order.
    If you'd like to post your code back onto here (or if it's large, ftp it to ftp.ni.com/incoming and let use know the name of the zip file you've packaged it into), then we can see what the DAQ section is supposed to be doing and hopefully provide some clues as to where to look for the information / why the error is occuring.
    The first thing to do is go back to Measurement and Automation explorer and try setting up a global task that refers to the channels you're interested in.
    This removes the programming side of things, since you select from drop down lists, to verify that you can communicate correctly with the hardware at the rates and across the channels that you want.
    These links is going to be your best learning point for getting up an running with the program.

    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/4656
    In terms of LabVIEW, there's several I/O controls you can use which will list the hardware channels you have configured or the global tasks you have created in Measurement and Automation explorer. (see the last link above)
    Another option is to look at our Alliance Partners if you need things configured and up and running in a hurry.
    http://www.ni.com/alliance
    If you just need a little pointer on getting kicked off, then you could see if you local sales engineer is available to go through things with you for an hour if they're in your area at a convenient time (for the UK / Ireland, please call in on 01635 572410 and ask to go through to sales), or we do offer start-up assistance (but that's something you need to purchase) to get a day's onsite assistance with getting your hardware up and running and starting you off with advice / examples on your application (note this is an effort based thing rather than a results based guarantee)
    Finally you could consider coming on one of our courses on LabVIEW and / or Data Acquisition to learn more about the software / hardware and be better prepared to handle the implementation yourself.
    Hope that helps

  • Can multiple LabVIEW programs simultaneously access the same NI-DAQmx hardware?

    I am developing a test station system that, in essence, runs several
    seperate LabVIEW programs simultaneously on the same computer, each
    controlling a different set of I/O channels on one shared set of NI
    DAQ hardware (analog and digital I/O PCI boards with external signal
    conditioning).
    I have already gotten a system like this running almost flawlessly
    using LabVIEW 6.1, NI-DAQmx 7.1 with traditional channels, and older
    E-series DAQ hardware. So long as two programs do not try to write to
    the same output channel simultaneously, everything works exactly as
    expected--I can even read from the same (named) channel simultaneously
    from more than one program. The only issue I have had is that if
    one
    of the compiled applications is closed (not just stopped, but closed)
    while others are still running, Windows XP (SP1) will bluescreen on a
    driver error. This is undesireable, but acceptable (though if there's
    a fix/workaround, I'd love to hear it).
    I am now building a similar system using mostly the same software
    (with an upgrade to LabVIEW 7.1), and I've noticed that the new
    M-series DAQ hardware seems to offer much more bang for the buck than
    old E-series hardware and its kin.
    My question is this: It appears that I/O on M-series hardware must be
    performed with new mx channels, with traditional channels not being an
    option. I am therefore wondering if I will be able to do this kind of
    multiple simultaneous access with mx channels, or if I must purchase
    the classic hardware and use traditional channels for this somewhat
    unorthodox application.
    (Incidentally, the multiple simultaneous program thing is a
    requirement for this system, as it is the only clean way to run
    multiple
    identical copies of the same complete program that only
    operate on different I/O channels, and re-doing the program from
    scratch is not an option.)

    Dear Anonymous,
    Thank you for contacting National Instruments.
    To address your question, I don't know if multiple simultaneous access with mx channels is possible, but I do not see why it wouldn't be. The best way to find out would be to test it. I don't have your program or hardware, so I'm pointing you to some Compatibility VIs. These are VIs that look exactly like Traditional DAQ VIs except that underneath they call the DAQmx driver instead of the Traditional DAQ driver. If your device works when you substitute these Compatibility VIs in for the Traditional DAQ VIs, then you'll know the M Series boards will work for you.
    Here is the link for information about the Compatibility VIs:

  • Using APT ActiveX methods to create a labview program for BPC 203 3 channel Benchtop Piezo controller

    Hi Everyone,
                      I am really very new to Labview and i am in great need for some help.I am assigned a task where i am supposed to create a labview program to control or moniter a BPC203 3 channel benchtop  Piezo controller. I created a program with the help of the instructions provided in the APT-Labview guide provided by Thorlabs.But th program doesnt run . Whenever i try to run it i get the same error which says that "Control HW Communications disabled".I have attached a snapshot of the error message.So i tried to create a small program in labview which would read the volage output.Even there i got the same error message.I suppose there is some mistake on my part which i am not able to correct due to the lack of proper knowledge.Could anyone please help me to solve this problem.A slight elaboration would be highly appreciated.Also i think the error lies in the use of invoke node with the get Voltage output method. I am not sure whether the parameters i have provided to the invoke node are correct.Any help of any sort would be highly appreciated.

    Hi
    I had the same problem today. However, I noticed that the piezo controller has 3 channels with separate slots and they are packaged in the same box. Therefore the whole box has a serial number, probably something like 71822280, and this is written with large letter. Now, in order to communicate with any of the channels, this does not help, but one needs to communicate directly with the interested channel and they have thier OWN SERIAL NUMBERS.
    For example channel 1 (my X direction in the nanoMax stage) has serial 91822281, Y has 91822282 and Z has 91822283. So try looking if you have the right serial number Hopefully you found out this yourself but this might help others, I took me3 hours to get this thing working when I started to plug-in the cables and everything.

  • Labview Program will hang between 33% and 50% of the time.

    I have a problem with a Labview program I made. I have two programs that do the same thing. One is in flat sequence form and the other is in state machine form.
    As explained in the link below, I would like to make use of a microcontroller to make wiring connections for automating a measurement process. A separate current source and volt meter will be used.
    https://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Sequence-a-good-idea/td-p/2601333
    I have since made some simple test programs which I have attached. The problem is when executing, the labview program will hang, but not every time the program is execute.
    For example: Hall 1.2.vi will work properly twice with the third time it is executed it will hang. If you abort and try again, it will again run twice with no problems with the third hanging. This one is in flat sequence format (was in a flat sequence, but merged the windows because I thought that was the cause). From what I can tell, the program will hang when calling Keithley 6517 Single Read.vi. Both connected Keithley devices are connected to the computer via GPIB at 16 and 27. The way I verified if it was this vi causing it or contributing to it was that I removed it and the program never hung. I find it very strange that it will hang exactly on the third attempt every time.
    Hall 1.3 simple.vi will work the first time and hang the second time. So it works 50% of the time. This one is in State Machine format. This one will hang at the case titled "Measure 1" which contains the Keithley 6517 Single Read.vi.
    I've used the highlight execution button and watched the program run. Oddly, it doesn't hang when using this button. So I tried adding delays/wait in different places to no avail.
    What could be causing this? As a side note, I say the program hangs for two reason. The main one is the program doesn't finish running so the run arrow is still black. The second thing is that if you notice at the end of the labview program, I have a block there that turns the current source off which doesn't happen when it hangs. I have to manually turn it off and then hit the abort program button to stop labview.
    Solved!

    Also, I've tried placing wait/delays at various places with no improvement of the problem. My next thought is to just remove all the vi calls and have everything in one program.
    How did you place the waits?
    Why would placing everything in one program fix the problem. That makes no sense! What is your reasoning?
    In the case of hall1.3, I placed a wait in the Measurement cases and CS On cases and there was no affect. In the hall 1.2 when the blocks were broken up similar to the state machine cases where each sequence window was identical to the cases, I placed a wait or delay in each window with no effect on the hanging.
    My reasoning for placing everything in one program is the same as my reasoning for figuring delays would help, since the time of execution would be altered. If the execution time is faster and if the timing is the problem then I figured that the problem would happen more frequently or even every time.
    Somehow I get the feeling this is not the case. The reason being the interval in which it succeeds or hangs is constant. I believe somewhere, a value is getting set. The 6517 Read vi runs fine if I run this vi by itself no matter how many or how fast I run it. Also, the same goes for both 1.2 and 1.3 if I remove the 6517 read vi they run fine no matter how fast or how many times I run them.
    Somehow after the current source is set to operate and triggers labview will hang on a set interval when calling 6517 read vi.
    Separately they work, together there is a problem. I tried placing a delay between these two by connecting the error out of the trigger vi to the error in of the delay block and the error out of the delay block to the error in terminal of the 6517 config block. I've also tried delays between other blocks connected the same way. From what I understand, a called vi can't execute until all inputs are present. Is this the correct way to wire the delays?

  • LabVIEW program crashes after running for few hours

    Hello,
    I am doing some experiments at the moment which are supposed to last for 18 hours.
    Basically, I use a LabVIEW program to control a power supply through a LabJack U6 DAQ. I am currently using LabVIEW 8.5 on Windows 7.
    In order to do that, I use a laptop where everything has been disabled such as power management settings, network access is off, windows updates are also off...
    As far as I know, the computer can't turn into sleep mode or just shut down (I'm a 100% sure of that actually).
    But last night, I started an 18 hours experiment at 5 pm, and when I came in this morning, the program shutted down by itself. Fortunately, the power supply is still providing the voltage I want, but I can't figure out why the program crashes.
    When I start the experiment, it also automatically starting saving data in a spreadsheet file (I guess the size of the file should be 36 MB), so it might be a problem of memory access or something.
    I really don't know what could have cause this crash, does someone have an idea?
    I saw some other threads similar to my problem but I am not running an executable, I am running the front panel directly from the editing mode.

    Hi,
    thank all of you for your quick answers!
    @Josborne : I do not have an error handling in my program. Actually you can look at my program in the attachment file. This is my first LabVIEW program so I've never dealt with error in and error out function... Moreover, what is a log file exactly?
    @Johnsold : Yes, I am building an array continously growing over time. Actually, my program stops saving data when you hit the "STOP" button, it doesn't write into a spreadsheet file through a period of time, that is something I eventually need to correct.
    @LabJackSupport : I can try to reduce my time step, so far it's 100 ms. I have a problem with disconnecting the USB cable from the computer though : for no reason, if I just unplug the connection between the LabJack U6 and the computer, my power supply will just go providing 157 Volts! And for my experiment, this is something we don't want to have so we just leave it as it is now. Disabling some part of the program is a good idea, I can try it
    Thank you for your answers

    by the day.)
    Things I
    will discuss are:
    Case 1: Memory usage using a plugin
    architecture
    CASE 2: memory usage using VITs (!)
    CASE 3: updating datastructures:
    CASE 4: shutdown of the whole system
    CASE 5: stability & heath monitoring
    CASE 6: Inifiles
    CASE 7: When the hardware is getting crappy
    Total
    application overview:
    We have a
    main application. This main application is mainly empty as hell, and only holds
    a plugin functionality (to register and administer plugins) and holds an
    architecture that holds the following items:
    Queue state
    machine for main application error handling
    Queue state
    machine for status messages
    Queue state
    machine for updating virtual variables
    Event state
    machine for GUI
    Some other
    stuff
    Other
    global functionality is:
    User
    logins, user configurations and unique access levels
    Different
    nice tools like the good old BootP and other juicy stuff
    Supervision
    of variables (like the NI tag engine, but here we have our own datastructures)
    Generation
    of virtual variables (so that the user can configure easy mathematical
    functions and combining existing tags)
    Licensing
    of plugins (hell we free-lance programmers need some money to don't we?)
    Handles
    all communication between plugins themselves, or directly to a plugin or vice
    versus.
    And now we don't
    talk about that (or marketing) the main application .

    CASE 3: updating datastructures:
     As we do NOT use clusters here (that would
    just be consuming) we only use an 1D array of data that needs to be updated in
    different functional globals. If the the number of VITS exceeds so that the
    updating of this datastructures becomes the bottleneck, this would cause
    delays. And since in this example we use 250 serial interfaces (lol) we do not
    want to disrupt that by any delays. When this happends, does anyone know a good
    solution to transfer data?
    A thought:
    perhaps sending it down to the plugin and let the plugin handle it, this should
    save some time, but then again if more VITs are added again this would become a
    bottleneck and the queue would fill up after a while unable to process it fast
    enough. Any opinions?
    CASE 4: shutdown of the whole system
    Lets say we
    want to close it all down, but the VITs need perhaps to do some shutdown
    procedure towards the hardware, that can be heavy.
    If we ask
    them to shutdown all together we can use an natofier or userevent to do this
    job. Well, what happends next is that the CPU will jump to the roof, and well
    that can only cause dataloss and trouble. The solution here was to let the
    plugin shut them all down one by one, when one has been shutdown, begin at the
    next. Pro; CPU will not jump to the moon. Con's: shutdown is going to take a
    while. Be ready with a cup of coffee.
    Also we
    want the main application not to exit before we exit. The solution above solved
    this as the plugin knows when all have been shut down, and can then shut itself
    down. When all plugins are shutdown - the application ends.
    Another
    solution is to use rendovous (arg cant spell it) and only shut the system down
    when all rendezvous have met.
    CASE 5: stability & heath monitoring
    This IS
    using a lot of memory. How to get it down. And has anyone experienced any
    difficulties with labview using A LOT of memory? I want to know if something
    gets corrupt. The VITs send out error information in case, but what if
    something weird happens, how can I surveillance all the VIT's in memory to know
    one is malfunctioning in an effective way/code (as backup
    solution  so the application knows
    something is wrong?
    CASE 6: Inifiles
    Well, we
    all like them. Even if XML is perhaps more fahionally. Now Ive runned some
    tests on large inifiles. And the labview Inifile functions use ages to parsing
    all this information. Perhaps an own file structure in binary format or
    something would be better? (and rather create an configuration program)?
    CASE 7: When the hardware is getting crappy:
    Now what if
    the system is hitting the limit and gradually exceeds the hardware req. of the
    software. What to do then (thinking mostly of memory usage)? Needing to install
    it on more servers or something and splitting configurations? Is that the best
    way to solve this? Any opinions?
    Wow.  Time for a coffee cup. Impressive if someone
    actually read all of this. My goal is to reach the 1000 VIT mark.. someday.. so
    any opinions, and just ask if something unclear or other stuff, Im open for all
    stuff, since I see the software will hit a memory barrier someday if I want to
    reach that 1000 mark hehe

  • Connecting hardware(connected to myDAQ) to my labview program

    Hi,
    I have a labview program that will send an email (Gmail) when you click the " Button " in the program but
    i need to modify it so that when i press a switch button at my hardware(connected to myDAQ)  the email will be sent ; meaning to replace the " Button " with my hardware 's switch button.
    Consulted with my lecturer and she says something like inputing logic 1 into the mydaq/labview to run the process.
    I have attached my program below.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    *I'm using NI LabVIEW 2013 SP1 (32-bit)
    P.S : i know this is the 2nd thread i created but i'm not sure how to close that one(i have already selected a solution)

    In order to use your signal input instead of your button, you need to read in the signal as a boolean. Digital inputs are already in the form of booleans (just like how your digital outs are set up), but if you are pulling in the trigger through your analog inputs, you'll just have to add some threshold logic to convert from an analog value to a boolean.
    If you have digital inputs, just set it up the same way you have that DAQ Assistant in there already reading in analog inputs and wire the boolean trigger to the same case structure as your button.
    Your teacher probably means channel 1 is your trigger input when she says "logic 1". This just means if you're pulling in multiple channels, that you use channel 1 as your trigger (which is actually the second channel becauce indices in LabVIEW are base zero).
    Actually, after thinking about it, maybe your teacher is pointing out that you need to add logic to read in a value of 1 as True? This makes me think you're reading an analog input as your trigger and you need to use logic so that a value of 1 is True.
