Compile from the console

Can anyone explain why i cant compile a java program from the console? The message i got when i type in the command was' javac is not recognizable as an internal or external command and so on' . I surfed the Internet and learned that some settings need to bo done before the compiling can be done but so far the websites i surfed only teach about Window 95, 98, 2000 and NT. I am using window XP. Can anyone help?

Go to Control Panel > System Properties > Advanced...
Look for a button called Environment variables. When you click it, look for PATH under System variables and edit it. Add your SDK's bin directory separated by a semicolon.

Unable to start WebLogic 5.1 sp4 from the Console

I installed WebLogic Server 5.1 Service Pack 4, as described by the
release_notes_sp4.html document. I can successfully do the following using
NT Workstation 4.0:
1. Start weblogic from the command line using startWebLogic.cmd

Reading a String from the Console.

Hello,
I am new to Java... I have to write a program which will read a long value from the console. Can somebody help me in this? or can i read it as a string and then convert to Long ? I prefer the second one as I am planning to convert this code to read a SOAP message... Can somebody help me or pint me to the right direction?

Reading it as a string and then parsing it (Long.parseLong(...)) is the way to do this.
As far as converting to SOAP - slow down. If you're just getting started with java, you're going to be biting off a lot trying to tackle SOAP

Getting a 1809 error when trying to remote control PC from the Console.

This is message i get when trying to remote view or remote control PC.....
1809: An error has occurred while generating a session key for
encryption.The remote session cannot be initiated. Contact Novell
Techical Services and specify this code.

This is for a 1807 error. My error is and 1809 error. Is there somewhere
else to research on a 1809 error when trying to remote control PC from
the Console?

Installed DS5.2 patch2 (patchzip) fr
Installed MD5.1.1
Everything goes fine except :
I can't start the join-engine or the utc from the console.
When I start any of them the process starts but seems to hang in an unknown state.
No log anywhere.
The console still sees the processes as down.
Any idea ?
It seemed to work fine before applying DS52 patch2.

Administring Top Orgnaizations from the Console

Our LDAP structure consists of different Organizations under the LDAP root.
From the console We are not able to see these Organizations and administer them.
Do anyone know how we change the Console to read these organizations and treat them as realms as it used to do in previous versions of SAM

Thanks for the reply, we were using AM 6.3 AND CONVERTED TO 7.1 into Realm mode which doesn't store realm data in an organization which is what we needed.
We will re-install in Legacy mode which should give us our organizations again

Is the any way to create a new domain from the console? Any on-line

Problem with printing only 1 copy from the console on an HP photosmart 7760.

When printing 4X6 borderless copies from a memory stick at the console the first picture correctly prints 1 copy but subsequent pictures show they are printing 1 of 2 copies. No matter how I set the number of copies this problem persists.
I have tried to set the number of copies directly and also to the default setting. Neither works after the first picture.
Any suggestions?

I read about the printer issue you're having with it randomly printing out pages.
I am really unsure of what could be causing the problem for sure, however, I have an idea that it could be related to the alignment of the unit itself. The steps I have are below and I'd suggest giving them a try to see if it helps!

Press the Power button to turn on the product.

Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.

Adminserver does not start after deleting oim_server1 from the console

Have deleted oim_server1 from weblogic console and. I wanted to reconfig oim but can't extend the domain anymore as OIM is greyed out.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Unable to connect to WSUS server from the console

I am not able to connect to WSUS server from WSUS console any more suddenly! "please verify that IIS on the server is correctly configured and is running'. I find out that Windows Process Activation Service is stuck in starting.
I killed it with taskkill command but I am not able to restart it. It gives 'Error 1053: the service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion'.
There are some suggestion online but I am not comfortable with those solutions, I prefer to be guided by Microsoft TechNet, thanks.

Starting WLS from the console...

Hello,
when trying to start the WL server from within the WL console on
my NT4, it seems like the console is trying to build a new classpath
rather than using the one it was started with.
This would be fine apart from the fact that it doesn't seem to
be doing this correctly. I have built my environment using wlconfig.exe
and the properties page in the console looks fine (i.e. all the
jars and other bits and bobs are in place). The registry also (obviously)
looks fine. However, the classpath used to start the server SHOULD
be prepended by the value of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/BEA/WL5.1/CLASSPATH
but it isn't?? (As an aside, why call it classpath when it really
only the classpath_prefix?)
It also took me a while to find that there are two binaries used
for starting the console: wlconsolew.exe and wlconsole.exe. wlconsolew.exe
is what is run when you use the Start Menu and it blatantly ignores
any settings in the registry. wlconsole.exe does this right but
still manages to stuff up the building of the classpath for starting
the server. Any VM settings in the registry are also ignored.
Any comments? Has anyone managed to find a way around this (apart
from the obvious, i.e. using scripts instead?)

A partial solution might be the following. Make shortcuts in your programs folder to target the batch files in %TOMCAT_HOME%\bin.
Then, all you need to do is select the shortcuts whenever you need to access the server.
The command prompt window will still be visible, but this method saves some typing time.
The next step is figuring out how to make Tomcat a Windows service so it runs in the background. I don't know how to do this.

How do I remove an unwanted server from the console window?

Hi all, hope someone can help, as I'm rapidly running out of hair to pull out :-(
I have one upstream server, set up perfectly on Windows Server 2012, and six downstream servers all running Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise. Five of my downstreams are set up and working as expected, but one is behaving a little strangely.
Here is an example of one of my downstream servers which is configured correctly:

Now here's my problem downstream server:
As you can see, not only does it list the upstream server, as expected, it also shows itself as a server. I have tried right-clicking it and choosing 'Remove from Console', but it just comes back after closing and reopening the console.

On all downstream servers, except ServerDOWN4 only the ServerUP01 is seen in the WSUS console. On ServerDOWN4, you can see ServerUP01 and ServerDOWN04 in the WSUS console.
Is this normal?
No, and the short answer here is that apparently the consoles were configured to connect to the wrong server, and on 'DOWN4', TWO servers were configured in the console.
But here's a more significant question....
Why, on WS2012 and WS2008R2 servers are you using the standalone console anyway? If you use
SERVER MANAGER, which is the expected behavior, the *LOCAL* server will be automatically displayed.

Unable to update descriptor from the console

I have created some preference variables in my BPEL code and want to update them from the BPEL console but when I change the descriptor and click update descriptor button it changes to its default value. Can anybody help me on this, this is really urgent.

I come across this time and time again. With no obvious pattern why this problem occurs.
Now, for example, I have a process with about 20 preferences, I can update 15 of them, 5 of them remain stubbornly at their default values.
Imagine wanting to test the process with different combinations of preference values... lots of joyful deployment ahead!
Any ideas appreciated,
