Compiler cannot see my classes
I know this doesn't belong here, but my problem is here:
http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=664447&tstart=0
And I figure, if I can reinstall it, but with all of the default settings, it should work. So how do I go about that?

Cannot find symbol class Scanner
hi all
i'm defining a class within a project so i can use the class inside my program, but the line:
Scanner keyboard = new Scanner(System.in);generates an error with my compiler:
cannot find symbol class Scanner
please helpyou aren't using jdk 5 or higher then. that's when scanner was added to the jdk.
download a modern jdk and you'll be fine.

System account cannot see the ccm_program class within client WMI
We are not using OSD as such to deploy our images - we plan to change this in the coming months but for now we don't.
The reason is our image is a standalone Image that is created in MDT and the MDT task sequence builds the image and we then run a number of scripts to install the SCCM client and to launch Progress Windows to let users etc know how the build is progressing.
These progress windows have scripts running in the background to check on the status of software updates, Application and Packages - however the part of the script that checks for programs (it checks the ccm_program class in the ccm\clientsdk Namespace) always
returns 0 Programs even though I can see a number of programs listed in there when I check manually.
I've justed figured out that its because the system context doesn't see this class as populated - it can see apps and updates...
Anyone else see this before? I realise most will be using OSD and would not use scripts like we do to determine when the machine has received all the requried patches and apps.Hi Syed,

[Solved] error: C compiler cannot create executables; see 'config.log'
Trying to build avant-window-navigator from the aur using yaourt results in this error message. I recently upgraded my system and suspect this may be the cause, but I'm not sure how to proceed from here. My config.log follows.
This file contains any messages produced by compilers while
running configure, to aid debugging if configure makes a mistake.
It was created by avant-window-navigator configure 0.4.1, which was
generated by GNU Autoconf 2.68. Invocation command line was

If your system is fully updated, maybe you're using some custom packages, like glibc https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 51#p845851

Compiler cannot find method that is there (Oracle 9i JDeveloper)
Hi
In one of my OA Framework classes Im doing some XML validation.
In 1 class I do this:
import oracle.xml.parser.v2.SAXParser;
SAXParser parser = new SAXParser();
parser.setValidationMode(SAXParser.SCHEMA_STRICT_VALIDATION);
<or Alternatively>
parser.setFeature("http://apache.org/xml/features/validation/schema-full-checking", true);
The compiler complains that it cannot find these methods in SAXParser class.
However, in the editing window, if I hit CTRL+Space for autocompletion JDeveloper can 'see' both these methods (setFeature() is actually defined in SAXParser and setValidationMode is inherited from parent class XMLParser).
It seems the editor can access the resources but the compiler cannot.
Ive tried both the XSQL Runtime and Oracle XML Parser 2 libraries in my project configuration and have even tried them in different positions in the 'Selected Libraries' window.
Im using XDK 9.0.3.0.0 with JDeveloper 9i.
Any help appreciated
JonHave you checked the ApJServLogFile? You might find some clues there.
I'm curious as to why you are getting 'display' errors. Is your display environment set up properly?

Second application using EJB with CMP cannot see SQL Server Tables.
We are running Sun One Application Server 7 V2004Q2 . We are also running Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC Service Pack 3 Version 2.2.0040 and SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition Version 8.00.818(SP3).
(The 2 applications described below run perfectly fine when run one at a time. The second one fails only when it is started after the first one and it does not matter which one is strarted first..)
Using the above, we run 2 applications that open SQL Server Connection Pools via EJB with CMP. The first application opens the connection pool correctly and successfullly obtains a connection from that connection pool and get table information from SQL Server.
The second application opens a second connection pool to a second database in the same SQL Server. However, when the second application requests data over a connection from the second connection pool, we get an error message that it cannot find the requested table.
In addition, the second application cannot ever see the SQL data until we restart the instance of the Sun One Application Server AND start that application by itself.Yes, they are.

Satellite M70-340: I cannot see the DVD schort cut menu after reinstallation
Hi,
I just recently bought Toshiba M70-340 2 weeks ago. Now I learn that there is better Toshiba comparing the my one.
My question is I cannot see on the screen the DVD schort cut menu. First time when I opened it it was on the rıght handside
of screen and my machine was Turkish Win XP Home edition. Than I reformat and change into English version of WinXP that comes with in Toshiba recovery CD. But I lost the screen menu for DVD I guess. Now ı don't know how to re-install that option.
Plus my machine is use the Intel Centrino 1.7 but I am not sure if this is a dual proccess. Secondly the ram is 512MB and I am trying to buy 2GB extened ram but seems still very very expensive (around $1100) Why is that 2GB ram so expensive?
I am using my laptop for software engineering as well as using Macromedia flash and Adobe Photoshop.
The both application and MS VS.NET 2005 as well as SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 application are very slow and sometime it takes more than 30
min. to compile or open it.
I have my home PC P4 3.2G with 1GB ram and it's faster than my Toshibe laptop.
Please be patien with me, after a 5 years later I bought my second laptop and first one was notebook from another manufacture.
I search in the internet and I find the M70-340 with Turkish Q type keyboard was the best option and it cost me $1450.
All I need how to overcome my problem and I need someone from Toshiba to explained to me carefully.
Can someone read my post and answer my question and worries?
I thank you very much and I looking forward to receive some help.
Kind Regards,
NTMS2006Hello
I dont want to disappoint you but please dont expect someone from Toshiba will write to you because this is user-to-user forum. I will try to write some comments because I have the same unit as you.
This DVD shortcut is really not understandable for me and I really dont know what you are writing about. If the DVD drive is recognized and installed properly it should be listed in device manager and also shown in Windows explorer. If you want to discus about it please describe exact status of DVD drive in device manager and Windows explorer.
You are right about memory. This notebook is delivered with 512 MB Ram. According the notebook specification it can handle max with 2GB of Ram and if you want to use max please use 2x1GB module. Compatible one is DDR2-400/533 1GB (PA3411U-1M1G).
2GB modules are the newest and everything new is very expensive. I dont know how much it can costs but definitely not around $1100. For this money you can buy the whole notebook.
The list of used software is impressive and I am not wondering if the notebook runs slow. Upgrade it to max Ram and it will be much faster. Please dont compare your desktop with this mobile unit.
Pick up info how much costs PA3411U-1M1G memory module and use two of them for max RAM. You will see that unit will run faster and I hope you will be satisfied with performance.
Have a nice day! -

Try find these files which package provides!
Edit: maybe package 'wine' provides this but as I see these libs are in /usr/lib/wine.

Cannot see PI receiver(Proxy) adapter - advanced adapter specific message
Hello Friends,
I cannot see adapter specific message attributes in receiver adapter XI (abap proxy) for enabling. I want to use these properties for getting a file name dynamically in a receiver structure.
I had seen a blog by Mr.Michal but that gives details for file to file. Here my target is abap proxy so I cannot see advance tab properties in XI adapter used communication channel.
Clearly my interface is file to ecc (using proxy), where i will have to read a file name which my interface picks and has to update in ecc.
I have enabled the sender side File adapter - ASMessage attributes but am not able to find the attributes in receiver side. Does it make any diffrence if am not enable the attributes at receiver adapter.
Thanks very much.Swarna,
in your scenario in order to have the file name updated on ecc, you must:
1. Set the ASMA properties on sender channel
2. Read the property in mapping and put the value in a custom field on the proxy structure. Create an UD like this:
UD
DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container.getTransformationParameters().get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File","FileName");
String onixdataset = conf.get(key);
--- END UD
3. Manage the filename in the proxy class with your requirements

Andrea -
[SOLVED]C compiler cannot create executables DUE TO MISSING DEV. PACKS
Hi there, I was trying to build "lib32-libpcap" from AUR using yaourt when the gcc(?) reported an error as following:
==> Starting build()...
checking build system type... x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu
checking host system type... x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu
checking target system type... x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu
checking for gcc... gcc -m32
checking for C compiler default output file name...
configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables
See `config.log' for more details.

Am running a up-to-date x64 Arch with [multilib] enabled; perhaps it's a silly mistake I made somewhere but I'm no dev and so cannot figure out what went wrong in the config.log....please help with your kindness and thanks in advance!

Allan wrote:Are you really up-to-date? gcc-4.6.3 was put in [core] four days ago but you still seem to have 4.6.2.
Well...at least as up-to-date as on March 2nd(when I did last system-wide upgrade); trying to update system tonight to see whether this works.
stronnag wrote:If you have multilib and testing enabled, you also need multilib-testing, otherwise (as I know from bitter experience), you get these hard to track down errors.
Nope I didn't enable [testing]; I've discovered some packages in [multilib], namely gcc-multilib or something similar(with the -multilib subfix) and some of these packages belong to the group "multilib-devel". Is installing these packages a must for compiling 32-bit packages? -

Another suggestion I received was to use the following command...
"rvm install 1.9.3 --with-gcc=clang"
but I get the same results.
At this point I've exhausted my options and I am not sure what to try next, other than starting from scratch and reloading the entire OS.
Any help would be greatly appreaciated.
Thanks,
RichPhew! That was harrowing.
Found this, and it solved the problem. Refreshingly, it was written in English and done well at that!
http://pragmaticstudio.com/blog/2010/9/23/install-rails-ruby-mac
Follow all the instructions. The main missing ingredient for me was downloading the developer tools for the command line from Apple. I had to register there, but it was free. These tools seemed to install the compiler where it was needed. You might need a github something or other, I don't know. I think I downloaded it as some point. Anyway, I did everything this author told me, and now I have my first rails app! Good luck - Joel -
I am having a "Cannot find symbol" problem. My Java is a bit rusty so I'm not exactly sure what it could be. I have two classes, City and SisterCities. The SisterCities references the City class. The City class compiles fine. Both classes are part of the same package. However, when I compile SisterCities, I get the error. Could you please tell me how to get the second class to recognize the first (import, extends, not really sure. I've tried alot) Here are those two classes so far...
****** City ********
package hw01;
public class City
public final String name;
public final String country;
public final City [] sisters;
public City (String name, String country)
// throw new RuntimeException ("Not implemented yet.");
this.name = name;
this.country = country;
this.sisters = new City [0];
public City (String name, String country, City [] sisters)
// throw new RuntimeException ("Not implemented yet.");
this.name = name;
this.country = country;
this.sisters = new City [sisters.length];
for (int i = 0; i < sisters.length; i++) {
this.sisters[i] = sisters;
public void setSisters (City [] sisters)
// throw new RuntimeException ("Not implemented yet.");
for (int i = 0; i < sisters.length; i++) {
this.sisters[i] = sisters[i];
public String getName ()
// throw new RuntimeException ("Not implemented yet.");
return this.name;
public String getCountry ()
// throw new RuntimeException ("Not implemented yet.");
return this.country;
public City [] getSisters ()
// throw new RuntimeException ("Not implemented yet.");
return this.sisters;
******** SisterCities *********
package hw01;
import java.util.LinkedList;
public class SisterCities
public final LinkedList cityList;
public SisterCities ()
// throw new RuntimeException ("Not implemented yet.");
public void addCity (City city)
// throw new RuntimeException ("Not implemented yet.");
this.cityList.add(city);
public int getNumCities ()
// throw new RuntimeException ("Not implemented yet.");
public City getCity (int i)
// throw new RuntimeException ("Not implemented yet.");final attribute members like "cityList" must be initialised when they're declared or inside the constructors
if you want to compile, you'll also have to uncomment the "throws" in your methods (or return a value)
(pay attention to the error messages the compiler gives you and paste them all when posting questions) -

1) Please in future use the code tags to format code you post so that it doesn't think you have italics in your code and render it largely1 unreadable. Read this
http://forum.java.sun.com/help.jspa?sec=formatting
2) You commented out the import of java.util which is the problem you are complaining about.
3) Are you planning to stick all the code you ever write into the one source file? Why is all this stuff rammed together. Yoinks.
