Complex parameters in procedures

Hi,
I want to hide the implementation details of a complex table structure (at least different header-line constructs) with a stored procedure. My question is:
it's possible to define complex parameters for procedures, it's possible from jdbc call (as an example i want to pass java object structures to such procedures).
many thanks

  • In SQLScript, how to use EXEC to call another procedure with parameters in procedure?

    Hi experts,
    In SQLScript, How to use EXEC to call another procedure with input and output parameters in procedure?thanks very much

    Hi Sagar,
    thank you! I generate another procedure with an input parameter and an output parameter in a procedure. Then i need to call the generated procedure using EXEC. Here is my code:
    create procedure ftest1(out sum_num bigint)
    as
    begin
    declare fa_output bigint;
    declare v_sql_drop varchar(200);
    declare v_sql varchar(500);
    declare cursor c_cursor1 for select num from TABLE1;
    --v_sql_drop := 'drop procedure fe';
    --exec v_sql_drop;
    v_sql := 'create procedure fe(in i_num bigint,out o_num bigint) as begin';
    v_sql := :v_sql || ' o_num := :i_num * 2 + :i_num * :i_num;';
    v_sql := :v_sql || ' end';
    exec v_sql;
    open c_cursor1;
    for c_item as c_cursor1 do
    exec 'call fe(c_item.num,o_num=>fa_output)';
    if sum_num is null then
    sum_num := fa_output;
    else
    sum_num := :sum_num + fa_output;
    end if;
    end for;
    close c_cursor1;
    end;
    The underline code is using exec to call the generated procedure. But this method cannot work. Any suggestion? thanks again!

  • How to pass more number of parameters in procedure

    How can we send 1000 parametrs in a procedure?
    is there any other method to pass parameters without defning 1000 parametrs
    Any example really helpful

    I know it's a hint, but have you ever known it to be ignored? Can you provide a working example showing it being ignored?Well it is not hard to demonstrate it being ignored, but these restrictions, while not obvious, are relatively well documented.
    What does not appear to be documented is the behaviour when calling from 3GLs (or does this qualify as an external procedure call?) where I believe the hint is also ignored.
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14261/tuning.htm#sthref2261
    "The use of NOCOPY increases the likelihood of parameter aliasing. For more information, see "Understanding Subprogram Parameter Aliasing".
    Remember, NOCOPY is a hint, not a directive. In the following cases, the PL/SQL compiler ignores the NOCOPY hint and uses the by-value parameter-passing method; no error is generated:
    1. The actual parameter is an element of an associative array. This restriction does not apply if the parameter is an entire associative array.
    2. The actual parameter is constrained, such as by scale or NOT NULL. This restriction does not apply to size-constrained character strings. This restriction does not extend to constrained elements or attributes of composite types.
    3. The actual and formal parameters are records, one or both records were declared using %ROWTYPE or %TYPE, and constraints on corresponding fields in the records differ.
    4. The actual and formal parameters are records, the actual parameter was declared (implicitly) as the index of a cursor FOR loop, and constraints on corresponding fields in the records differ.
    5. Passing the actual parameter requires an implicit datatype conversion.
    6. The subprogram is called through a database link or as an external procedure."
    For example, consider rule #2 above and compare output of first block (with unconstrained NUMBER datatype) with second (with constrained NUMBER datatype).

  • Variable number of parameters to procedure

    I have a requirement to pass variable number of parameters for an attribute, to a stored procedure.
    example:
    procedure getSum(country_code IN varchar2, sum OUT number)
    Inside the procedure, I am currently
    writing SQL as
    where eligible_code in (country_code).
    This is ok when I pass just one code.
    However I need to deal with n number of
    country codes at a given time.
    i.e. if I want to pass 3 country codes
    as a concatinated string say "A-B-C"
    where A, B, C are 3 different codes,
    how do I decode them into a
    meaning full
    where eligible_code in ('A', 'B', 'C')
    Or is there any other way of dealing
    with this kind of situation.
    The bottom line is I must have a stored
    procedure, that takes parameter(s).
    Any input/suggestion is highly appreciated.

    Please try the following, substituting the appropriate table name for your_table and the appropriate column name for eligible_code, then see if you can incorporate some of it into your procedure. Please let me know if it works for you or not.

  • How to use Parameterized Stored Procedure in OBIEE 10 g..?

    Hi All,
    In my rpd, to load the data in the Physical layer, I'm using a Stored Procedure (*SQL Server Stored Procedure*).
    This stored procedure is using some parameters, so my intention is
    1) Provide prompts for each parameter
    2) Allow the user to select parameter value from the prompt
    Can some one let me know if this is possible and if so how to do this.
    Thanks in Advance

    Dear,
    In report triggers you can write your procedure/functions or call it like

    end;

  • Web Service - Complex Parameters

    Hi, I'm trying to get a specific Web Service working by
    calling the appropriate parameters and I can't seem to get it
    working properly in Flex.. I have this Web Service working just
    fine in Microsoft's InfoPath product. When I call the Web Service
    and trace I notice the parameters returned are in the wrong order
    and the complex parameter doesn't show the sub tags (MS Infopath
    does). Also, the parameters I leave empty return with "[Object
    Object]" (MS Infopath doesn't do this). So it looks like flex isn't
    doing something right with my Webservice. Here's what I am
    passing.. If I'm doing something wrong please let me know.. Any
    ideas or opinions are greatly appreciated!
    <mx:request>
    <Infoprovider></Infoprovider>
    <Parameter>
    <item>

    <Value></Value>
    </item>
    </Parameter>
    <Query>ZG_PUR_104E</Query>
    <ViewId></ViewId>
    </mx:request>

    Me to, and i use Axis for web services (and WebSphere
    WebServices).
    And, if you use bind from text input you get [object Object]
    in general case
    <mx:request>
    <value>{entry1.text}</value>
    </mx:request>
    <mx:TextInput x="23" y="101" text="" id="entry1"/>
    if you enter any text at textinput and delete it you DONT get
    "[object Object]" at web service....
    if you dont enter text you get "[object Object]" at web
    service...
    if you use variable or other elements its the same.
    Any help?

  • Passing table name and columns name as parameters to procedure

    i need a procedure that take table name and column names as parameters .
    it should display all values in those columns
    like
    if i execute procedure p ( t1,c1,c2)
    it should display c1,c2 values in t1 table
    if i execute procedure p ( t1, c1,c2,c3)
    it should display c1,c2,c3 values in t1 tables
    no of column parameters changes

    See if this helps...
    First, read the manual on collections.
    Second, define your expected results. You want to output the results to the screen? You cannot perform a 'select' in PL/SQL. You will have to select your output into another collection, then loop through that.
    Finally, I am curious why this is necessary versus performing a regular query.
    Take a look at this incomplete code.
    create or replace
    package dave_pac
    IS
    TYPE col_name_list IS VARRAY(20) OF VARCHAR2(30);
    PROCEDURE SFA_TAB_COL1
    (p_tname  IN    VARCHAR2
    ,p_cnames IN    col_name_list);
    END;
    create or replace
    package  body dave_pac
    IS
    PROCEDURE SFA_TAB_COL1
    (P_tname  IN varchar2
    ,p_cnames in col_name_list)
    IS
    l_stmt long;
    l_rc number;
    begin
    l_stmt :='select '||p_cnames(1);
    for i in 2..p_cnames.count
    loop
    l_stmt :=l_stmt||' , '||p_cnames(i);
    end loop;
    l_stmt:= l_stmt||' from '|| p_tname ;
    execute immediate l_stmt;
    end ;
    END dave_pac;

  • Call complex type oracle procedures

    Hello!
    My task is to call some stored procedures from Oracle. These procs developed by other guy.
    The trouble is that some of the OUT parameters are TABLE or VARRAY of OBJECT types.
    Here is example of procedure:<br>
    <br>
    <br>
    type tag_event_varray as varray(100) of tag_event_object
    ...<br><br>
    TYPE tag_event_object AS object(
    tag_event_id NUMBER,
    tag_id number......
    ......<br>
    <br>
    PROCEDURE get_tag_events(p_customer_id in number, <br>
    p_site_id in number,
    p_tag_event_varray out tag_event_varray,
    p_feedback_varray out feedback_varray); <br><br>
    ------------------------------------------------------------------<br><br>
    All documentation I found on the web is about fetching either REF CURSOR or VARRAY of simple elements like number...<br><br>
    I have tried this:<br><br>
    // connection do DB <br>
    <br>
    $s = OCIParse($c, "begin get_tag_events(:bind1, :bind2,:bind3, :bind4); end;");<br>
    $coll = OCINewCollection($c, "TAG_EVENT_VARRAY");<br>
    .........<br>
    OCIBindByName($s, ":bind3", $coll, -1, OCI_B_SQLT_NTY); <br>
    OCIExecute($s, OCI_DEFAULT);<br>
    for ($i = 0; $i < $coll->size(); $i++) {<br>
    $id = $coll->getElem($i);<br>
    echo "Id: $id<br>";<br>
    } <br>
    ----------------------------------------------------------<br>
    $coll->size() gives the right size of collection, but getElem() is empty.<br>
    Any suggestions?<br>
    Help is very appreciated

    It appears that you're trying to manage a VARRAY collection of a user-defined object type. If that's true, then my understanding is that it shouldn't work with the current OCI8 libraries. OCI8 only supports collections of scalar data types, like NUMBER, DATE, et cetera.
    You can change the PL/SQL code to return a parallel set of scalar collections and then the PHP logic flow you're using will work.
    Hope this helps, Michael.

  • Knowing parameters of procedures (dynamically)

    Hi!
    I have the following problem:
    There is a situation where a programA (user) has to make a requests by sending stored procedures. The procedures have variable parameters (like param1 in, param2 inout, param3 out,...etc.). For e.g. procA(param1, in out, param2, in), procB(param1 out), procC(param1 out, param2 in, param3 in out, param4 out). So each procedure has a different number and types of parameters. I shoul be accessing these procedures. How can I find out if the procedure is having any parameter, and what type of parameters and how many of them? I should know this, so as to be able to send the required results back to programA or the user initiating it.
    I do use oracle9i, c++, odbc.
    Thanks for your comments in advance!

  • Passing Parameters to Procedure based sub report thru JRC

    Hi
    I am using storedprocedure based main report with a subreport and i am trying to invoke these reports with JRC.
    I am passing parameters to main report then it is asking parameters for subreport then i placed following statement by placing subreport name
    param2.setReportName("detailed_aging_report_wk.rpt");
    but after using this statement it is prompting for main report parameters.
    How i can pass the same parameter values to both main and sub reports?
    Thankyou.

    Here is a snippet code that demonstrates how to pass a parameter to a subreport, you can accommodate it and test it and see if you still have the same behaviour. What you need to do is to add the code to set the parameter of the main report.

  • How to call and run parameters in Procedures with Sap Data Services?

    Hello Guys,
    Migrating'm all SSIS2008 packages for Sap Data Services.
    During this process I found a difficulty about running Stored Procedures (Sql Server 2008 R2) within the Sap Data Services.
    I need help to convert this code sample:
    EXEC dbo.prcInserirLogExecucaoSSIS
    @FEED = ?,
    @TIPO_ENTRADA = 'NOVA_CARGA',
    @ARQUIVO = ?
    to Sql ('datastore', 'example') with parameter passing ...

    Import the stored procedure as a function in a datastore.
    Drag the stored procedure to your query browser and you will be set.

  • Webservices complex parameters

    Hi again,
    I try to use a complex object as a parameter in a webservice. This object is serializable and contains only some Strings and lists. I created a deployable proxy with this parameter Object successfully and the lookup to the proxy via jndi name is also possible.
    But how can I map my version of the parameter object with the generated stub object?
    Thanks for help!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Alex

    Hi Jain,
    I found the method, but this method expects the generated stub class. When I look into the stub class, der is no possibility to set some attributes.
    Do you know some examples or documentation for this problem?
    Thanks!!!!!
    Alex
