Compression taking to long...?

Hello...Ok I am exporting a 45 min project out of FCP using compressor, for some reason its giving me these crazy times like 6 hours to complete...I've done other projects this long if not longer and have not had this problem...Any ideas? Ooo..also last night I was trying to export a short 30 second clip that had motion in it and it told me an hour to complete, then it froze..Then I turned off the apple and turned it back on went back to FCP hit export again and it did it in less than 20 minites...Any ideas as to what is going on with my machine???
Thanks
P.S. I have compressor set to "Best quality 90 minutes 4:3"

DONE!

  • Quicktime conversion taking too long

this is my first time using final cut pro.
for my class, i've created a video that is 7 minutes long using mpeg-4 clips with AAC audio. they're pretty small clips, 320X240, and fully rendered.
we're supposed to present our projects next week to the class and so today i tried exporting the video i created using Quicktime conversion, but the status bar told me it would take 40 minutes to fully convert, and it only kept going up from there.
what am i doing wrong? under movie settings window that pops up, i clicked on default settings, but changed compression to h.264 (cus everywhere i've read has said it's faster), changed the dimensions to match 320X340, and changed the audio format to AAC with a 128 bit rate.
is this correct? i know i probably shouldn't have used mpeg-4 files to edit, but i hadn't known that until i read it here, today. i've also read that since i'm using mpeg-4 files, i shouldn't have tried exporting it as a h.264 file. is that true? could that have been the reason why the conversion was taking so long?
your help/advice is very much appreciated.

let's put it this way. if you do File>Export>Quicktime you'll make a quicktime file with the same compressor as your sequence and it'll render faster. If you select File>Export>Quicktime Conversion you can make a quicktime file with a compression of your choice. (although the conversion process takes time). so you could compress it into a DVCPRO 50 quicktime, or an uncompressed quickime or H.264 quicktime. any of these settings will play in quicktime. These you can select through the options button in the converter window. we just suggest you use Export>Quicktime because it's faster easier and it's useless in your situation to convert.

  • Rollup in cube is taking very long time (BW 3.5)

    Hi,
Rollup in one of our cube is taking a long time from what it is expected.
Previously this rollup was taking 2-3 hrs but now it is taking more than 8 hrs.
To solve this I even tried compressing the cube till last month but of no use. (this worked last year when we faced a similar issue but not sure why it wont help this time)
Through this rollup 2-3 active aggregates are filled up.
Is there any way to solve this issue.
I am using BW 3.5 version.
(PS - Can't use compress after rollup option.)

    Dear,
When ever you do a rollup of data to its aggregates, the system automatically deletes and rebuilds the indexes of the aggregates.
Now when you run the program SAP_RSADMIN_MAINTAIN with the above mentioned parameters the system skips this process of deleting and rebuilding the index of aggregates .
Hence you dont have to do anything manually except to rebuild the indexes of the aggregates(on the "Performance" tab when you "Administrate data targets" in the Admininistrator Workbench) once your process chain has run successfully .
So the steps should be as follows :
    1) Run the program SAP_RSADMIN_MAINTAIN (One time activity)
    2) Delete index (for infocube in process chain)
    3) Load data into infocube (in process chain)
    4) Create index (for infocube in process chain) .
    5)Rollup (in process chain )
6)Rebuild the indexes of the aggregates(on the "Performance" tab when you "Administrate data targets" in the Admininistrator Workbench . (Manually) .
Note : You can always revert back the setting what you are maintaining through program SAP_RSADMIN_MAINTAIN by just filling the same parameters and slecting the Delete radio button.
    Hope this helps .
    Regards .

  • Browser times out when trying to view my website - says the server is taking too long. And no, I don't have a firewall.

I can't view my website at www.artisancandies.com, even though it's working and everyone else seems to see it. No, I don't have a firewall, and it's not because of my internet provider - I have AT&T at work, and Comcast at home. My husband can see the site on his laptop. I tried dumping my cache in both Firefox and Safari, but it didn't work. I looked at it through proxify.com, and can see it that way, so I know it works. This is so frustrating, because I used to only see it when I typed in artisancandies.com - it would never work for me if I typed in www.artisancandies.com. Now it doesn't work at all. This is the message I get in Firefox:
"The connection has timed out. The server at www.artisancandies.com is taking too long to respond."

  • AirPlay Screen Mirroring (Mavericks) disconnects frequently with "Feedback taking too long to send" message

My company has several TVs with AppleTVs (3rd generation units) connected in our conference rooms so we can "Screen Mirror" our Mac laptops via AirPlay during meetings. Many employees have complained that AirPlay Screen Mirroring drops frequently during meetings for no apparent reason.
In attempts to determine the cause of the issue, I removed the AppleTV units from Wi-Fi and hard-wired them all to the LAN (100Mbps/Full duplex, no switchport errors seen on the Cisco switch). I upgraded the AppleTVs to the latest firmware. I had our AppleTV users ensure they were running MacOS Mavericks with the latest software updates installed. I had the Mac laptops hard-wired into the LAN during meetings in the conference rooms. None of these changes resolved the AirPlay issue.
I reviewed the MacOS "/var/log/system.log" file from the laptops of several users that reported issues. I found a pattern that seemed to indicate that the "coreaudiod" process reported "Feedback taking too long to send" several times before the AppleTV connection was terminated. Also, from a network trace (using "tcpdump") taken during an unexpected AirPlay Screen Mirroring disconnection, I could see that the Mac laptop sent a TCP FIN packet to the AppleTV unit (this would indicate that the MacOS laptop initiated the closing of the AirPlay connection).
I have included the relevant log file entries below. Please note that the LAN internal to our company is "solid" and there have been no connectivity issues detected or reported during the times the AirPlay sessions were disconnected.
I believe I have found a workaround to this issue. By going into "System Preferences", "Sound" and then changing the "Output" device BACK to the "Internal Speakers" (rather than the AirPlay destination), the AirPlay Screen Monitoring connection seems to remain stable.
    My questions are:
    - is anyone else experiencing this type of problem? any other solutions recommended?
    - is there a way to change the AirPlay defaults so that Screen Mirroring only sends the video (not audio)?
    - does anyone know what the log file entries indicate (like, what does "Feedback taking too long to send...." mean)?
    - any fix planned for this issue?

I'm currently still experiencing this as well. I've confirmed it occurs on 10.9.1, 10.9.2, and 10.9.3 on MacBook Pro Retina's, Mid-2012 and 2013 MacBooks. It happens on multiple ATV's not just one, all are updated to 6.1.1 and a simple reboot seems to fix it temporarily but it does come back. All the ATV's are connecting to the network via Wireless not Ethernet. These are 3rd Gen ATV's but I checked the serial number and these do not match the bad batch of Apple TV's from 2013 that were offered up for Replacement for Apple due to the bad firmware update. None of the computers have the Firewall turned on. Here's the two logs that we always find after the issue occurs (logs are recent, happened this morning):
    5/30/14 8:57:36.017 AM coreaudiod[183]: 2014-05-30 08:57:36.016946 AM [AirPlay] ### Feedback taking too long to send (30 seconds, 17 total)
    5/30/14 8:57:36.332 AM coreaudiod[183]: 2014-05-30 08:57:36.331492 AM [AirPlay] ### Feedback failed: -6723/0xFFFFE5BD kCanceledErr
The user will get disconnected from Airplay anywhere between 30 seconds to 3 minutes after logging on and can reconnect but then once again get disconnected after the same time period. One interesting thing to note is that when the Feedback Taking Too Long to send error starts occuring and the countdown to disconnect start ticking down to 30, its solely referring to Audio not being sent over the network and Video is working just fine. If I try to play sound I get another log and the sound doesn't play through the speakers. After a reboot, sound works fine and the Feedback Error's do not show up. I've also tried switching to Internal Speakers (since it defaultly switches to Airplay Speakers) after connecting to Airplay and seeing the Feedback timer start in the Console Logs but even after that the log continues to saw its taking too long to send and disconnects in 30 seconds.
This issue has been ongoing for months, I've got a ticket logged as far back as January with this occuring but its infrequent enough that we've just restarted and moved on. I'd say its an issue that occurs to about 5%-10% of meetings but that's an entire meeting that doesn't have the ability to Airplay until someone comes down and reboots it.
I don't often post in this forum but its still an active issue with no resolution, proof that its occuring on other people's systems, and no firmware updates having been released to correct it. It'd be nice to know of any workarounds other than having to buy some lamp timers for each conference room just to get a functional ATV or putting up a sign that says hey if you get disconnected every 3 minutes, reboot the ATV. The whole reason we're using Apple products is for ease of use otherwise I'd put together a much cheaper solution myself. Any help or recommended troubleshooting steps would be fantastic at this point.

  • Taking too long time to get LOV

    HI,
I have created a customer folder in which the query retuns 0.5 million records.
I have created a item class in airline_name column which is being used in the worksheet as parameter.
The problem is it is taking too long time near about 2 min to get LOV when the user wants to search the exact name.
    Thanks,
    Himanshu Tiwari

    Hi,
Usually, you should not use the folder that the report is based on to define the LOV. You should use a separate folder to define the LOV that is optimised to return the content of the LOV.

I suggest that you start with SMC and PRAM resets.
    Then  a Safe Boot.
    Ciao.

  • Discoverer reports taking a long time!!!

    Hi all,
One of our clients is complaining that the discoverer reports are taking a long time to run for the last few days, the report used to take 30 minutes before but now is running for hours!!
I have checked the SGA and I have killed the idle sessions but still there was no improvement in the performance.
The version of BI discoverer is 10 and database also is 10g and the platform is win server 2003.
I have checked the forums and they talk about explain plan and tkprof and other commands, but my problem is that i am unable to find the query that discoverer is running i mean once the report is clicked the query runs and gives the estimate time it would take. can some one tell me where this query is stored so that i can check this query,
Also there were no changes made in the query or to the database.
The temp space fills up 100%, i increased the size of temp space but still it goes to 100% also i noticed that the CPU utilisation goes to 100%
i also increased the SGA but still no go.
can someone kindly help me as to what could be causing this problem
also kindly guide me to some good documents for tuning the discoverer.
    thanks in advance,
    regards,

    Hi,
The fact that the report used to work fast and now not can be related to many things but my guess is that the database statistics were changed and so the explain plan has changed.
This can be done due to change in the volume of the data that crossed a level were oracle optimizer change the behavior but it can be other things as well.
Anyway it is not relevant since it will be easier to tune the SQL than to find what have changed.
In order to find whether the problem is with the discoverer or in the SQL extract the SQL as described above and run it in SQL tool (SQL Plus, TOAD, SQL Developer and so on).
The best way to get to the problem is run a trace on your session and then use the TKPROF command to translate it to a text file you can analyze - you can assist your DBA team they should have no problem doing that.
By doing that you will get the problematic statements/ functions/ procedures that the report uses.
From there you can start working on improving the performance.
Performance is expertise for itself so i'm sorry i don't know to tell you where to start from, I guess the start will be from understanding the meaning of the explain plan.
Hope I helped a little although I wish Ii had a magic answer for you
BTW, until you resolve that problem you can use the discoverer scheduler to run the reports in the background and so the users will get the data.

  • Time Machine Taking a Long Time to Index / Back Up

    Hi everyone.
I noticed this on the latest backup to my Time Capsule device.  I'm backing up over a WiFi connection to a time capsule device.  It is taking a long time to index the backup.  Here's the code from the latest backup.

I am just curious as to why this is, and what I might do to fix it.  I did see one suggestion in another website suggesting diabling spolight indexing of the backup image with sudo mdutil -i off /Volumes/Time Machine Backups, but don't know where to type that in.  It then states to reenable it, but don't know where to type that in, either.  Any advice would be helpful.  I did run a verification not too long ago, and here's that code.
10/14/12 3:44:14.289 PM com.apple.backupd: Backup verification requested by user.
    10/14/12 3:44:41.503 PM com.apple.backupd: Running backup verification
    10/14/12 4:04:31.602 PM com.apple.backupd: Backup verification passed!
If any of you have or had a similar problem, I'd appreciate your help.  For the time being, I may just disable time machine during the evening, and only have it run during the day when I'm at work.

Is your sig still current (10.7.3)? Or did you update to 10.7.5? Because 10.7.5 had a Spotlight/Time Machine bug that slowed down a lot of backups. If that's what it is, there's now a 10.7.5 Supplemental Update that fixes the slow Time Machine problem.
If it isn't 10.7.5, I don't know what the problem might be.

  • Report script taking very long time to export in ASO

    Hi All,
My report script is taking very long time to execute and finally a message appears as timed out.
I'm working on ASO Cubes and there are 14 dimensions for which i need to export all data for all the dimensions for only one version.
The data is very huge and the member count in each dimension is also huge, so which is making me difficult to export the data.
    Any suggestions??
    Thanks

Here is a link that addresses several ways to optimize your report script. I utilize report scripts for Level 0 exports in an ASO environment as well, however the majority of our dimemsions are attribute dimensions.
These are the most effective solutions we have implemented to improve our exports via report scripts:
    1. Make sure your report script is written in the order of how the Report Extractor retrieves data.
    2. Supressing Zero and Missing Data
    3. We use the LINK command within reports for some dimensions that are really big and pull at Level 0
    4. Using Symmetric reports.
    5. Breakout the exports in multiple reports.
However, you may also consider some additional solutions outlined in this link:
    1. The MDX optimizing commands
    2. Back end system settings
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/esb_dbag/drpoptim.htm
I hope this helps. Maybe posting your report script would also help users to provide feedback.
    Thanks

  • My external library 100 GB on a 2TB drive is taking a long time to open.

    Hey there,
I recently moved my library to an external drive.  When I tried to load the external drive, it said it needed to repair and I let it happen overnight because it was taking a long time.
Now it seems to just freeze when I try to load the external library.  Can someone let me know if there is something I can do to make this process speed up?  Should I move some of my projects to another library and keep it off-line?
    Thanks,
    Austin

Could it possibly be due to videos stored in the aperture library?  I think one of the folders has multiple GB of video...  Just a thought.
If Aperture is freezing on opening, this can be caused by corrupted or incompatible media, but it would not explain the original error message your reported - "permissions".
When the repair finishes, try to launch Aperture with the Shift-key held down. This will defer the generation of previews. If media cannot beprocessed, Aperture will hang, when it tries to generate the previews for those images or videos. If you can get Aperture to launch after deferring the preview generation, you could open the Activity window (Window > Show Activity) and then selectively try to generate previews for your last imported images and videos  (Photos > update preview). The Activity window will show, what is currently processed, and perhaps you can spot, which of the files is causing the hang.
