Concerns Regarding Adobe LifeCycle Licensing

There is starting to be a growing buzz over at Javaranch.com about FLEX and Lifecycle in particular. It would be nice if someone for Adobe could post a few responses at Javaranch.com regarding the LifeCycle Product:
Developers Responses:
D1: "RemoteObjects are part of Flex and therefore free to use. Flex Data Management Services were a part of Flex Data Services in Flex 2 and have long since been rebranded and packaged in Lifecycle ES which is licencable product. Last time I heard a price it was listed at $30,000."
D2: "Let's hope that price is going to come down in the near future. As a back-end Oracle Database Developer, this is going to be the bread and butter for me (FYI - Google the Cairngorm Architecture.) The LiveCycle Product is a much perferred option than build the web services in JDeveloper manually."
D3: "I went through the same motions and abandoned LifeCycle because of the ridiculous pricing compared to free, simpler solutions."
D2:"Okay, since there is interest in the Adobe LifeCycle, I think I am going to try and knock on doors (virtually) at Adobe get some help in this area for this product--license wise. Hopeful I can get a hold of James Ward, the Adobe Evangelist and have him to briefly post some words on this. Because I am with an educational institution, we have some grace with licensing for development, but never inquired about the LifeCycle license. Adobe have been pushing the BlazeDS, the open source option. I haven't used it yet, but if you search for BlazeDS at Adobe, you will find and pre-configured Tomcat download bundled with BlazeDS. This should provided a MVC ready environment for FLEX development accessing a database back-end."
D3: "Great for you, but those in the software development world have no options other than to abandon LiveCycle. It's unfortunate given the obvious value in these tools."
D2: "Of course you right, but the first step in getting Adobe to change this matter is to ask, or more so let them know that there is a growing interest with the product. If a number of Flex developers positively express (in writing, emails, blogs, post, etc) interest directly to Adobe, with the complaint the Lifecycle product has locked a lot of the developer community out from using the product, then I think they will happily change the licensing practice for this product over time. For Adobe is all about dollars and sense (as in what makes sense in business). If they can get more developers to positively endorse (FOR FREE) there products--they will start giving away things for free to get them to continue. So stay positive! Things will change."
There is a growing interest in the Lifecycle product, but most developers are hitting the wall when trying to utilize the product for self training, and education of the product.  Adobe Representatives please chime in and help the developer community regarding the licensing issue.  Also, please post as well to Javaranch.com under the FLEX forum branch.

  • A concern regarding JSP lifecycle

    Hello Developers,
I am totally new to JSP stuff and I seek some help. I am trying to make an application such that the user will load an HTML page and fill in the data, then a jsp file will process it and mail the result back to the address that the user specified in the initial HTML file. So, within JSP page, I have embedded java code to create object of appropriate class, loading the appropriate method etc.
My main concern is that it takes almost an hour to process the request. So is there anyway in which the user can close the browser soon after he submits the data and the corresponding jsp will run in 'background' at the serverend? And eventually, once the result is ready after an hour, the server sends email?
    Thanx!
    Jatan

Yes, make the request asynchronous. The proper way to do this is with message-driven beans sent to a JMS queue. If you have a more lightweight environment, spin off a separate thread to do the work. Though be sure you can manage it properly. :^)

  • BPM 7.3 - Adobe Lifecycle Designer 9.0

    Hi guys,
I`m a PI developer and quite new to SAP BPM, only took part in the SAP training several months ago.
Now my colleague installed a BPM 7.3 system and I`m trying to implement some processes starting with
    the sample of the training.
At the moment I try to connect Adobe Lifecycle Designer with the NWDS to use Adobe Forms.
Following note 1522483 I choose Adobe Lifecycle Designer 9.0 and installed it.
During the installation my old version 8.2 was recognized and as described in the note it should be updated.
At the end of the installation there was an error report indicating that there was some trouble during update
    of the installation
    Error description: Not Available
    ErrorCode: -2147467259
    State: Install on Update
    Type: File
    Dest: C:\Programme\Adobe\Designer 9.0\FormDesigner.exe
    Source: C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\jogugel\Desktop\TEMP\BPM\Adobelifecycledesigner9\Adobe\Designer 9.0\FormDesigner.exe
when I edit the created xdp file in NWDS I could for example create a new data connection specifying the created xsd file, but I am not able to save any changes.
In the Error log following errors are visible:
openDocumentWithBaseUrl() NOT successfully called (maybe too old version of WDAdobeControl.dll?).
    File: <C:\Knowledge_local\BPM_BRM\NWDS 7.3 workspace.jdi\LocalDevelopment\PO_DEMO_SC\exsignodeloitte.ch\po_product_demo\pr\pm\_comp\src\PurchaseRequestForm.xdp>
    Path: <C:\Knowledge_local\BPM_BRM\NWDS 7.3 workspace.jdi\LocalDevelopment\PO_DEMO_SC\exsignodeloitte.ch\po_product_demo\pr\pm\_comp\src\> ...
Trying to call openDocument() instead ...      [Error: com.sap.fp.is.ide.adobetemplatedesigner.AdobeDesignerEditorPart  Thread[main,6,main]]
    and a second error:
NativeWrapper.openDocumentWithBaseUrl() returns false because rgdispid is null
    [Error: com.sap.fp.is.ide.adobetemplatedesigner.NativeWrapper  Thread[main,6,main]]
I already searched for this error in SDN and the web, but without result.
The NWDS version I am using is 7.3 SP02 PAT0001
Does anybody has an idea what the reason for this error could be and how to solve it,
maybe I am using two incompatible versions? Is there a way to check or guide describing this?
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Kind regards,
    Jochen
Beforehand I already tried Designer 8.2

    Hi John,
    thanks for your answer.
I deinstalled and installed the Lifecycle Designer from sratch again.
    Unfortunately the same error arises.
openDocumentWithBaseUrl() NOT successfully called (maybe too old version of WDAdobeControl.dll?).
    Any suggestions?
    Kind regards,
    Jochen

  • Error during installing Adobe LifeCycle Designer

    Hi all,
I am trying to install Adobe LifeCycle Designer 8.1 , already downloaded all files from service marketplace.
But while running set up,getting below error message:
The SAP Front-End Installer executable is unable to process the XML files.Restart the uninstallation  with the
NwSapSetup executable installed  on the workstation.
Do anyone knows about this error message.
    Thanks in advance.
    Kiran

It seems that I solved the problem by myself by deleting the 11.0 subdirectory in <AppData>\Roaming\Adobe\Designer.
Afterwards, the application started normally and the settings were created from scratch.
    Best regards

  • Why does Acrobat XI installed via CC ask me for Adobe Software License Agreement?

When I try to open a pdf with Acrobat XI Pro installed via Creative Cloud, after few second it starts Adobe Application Manager, it opens a completely blank window titled Adobe Software License Agreement asking to Accept. It's pointless to clic the Accept button: it doesn't do anything and Acrobat is unusable.

  • Integrating adobe lifecycle designer 8.0 with SAPGUI

    hello,
I have installed adobe lifecycle desginer 8.0 (which comes with adobe acrobat 8.0 . Now how can i integrate this within the SAPGUI and work on interactive forms. Anybody ?
    Thanks,
    Shehryar Dahar

    hi,
Adobe Lifecycle designer for interactive forms comes as a bundle with the Netweaver installation.
    its integrated with Netweaver itself.
my netweaver version # is 2.0.16
then you put a UI element called "interactive form" on your dynpro layout.
    when you goto...
    Interactive form -> Edit...
it takes you to the Adobe Lifecycle designer... where you can design your interactive form.
    i hope this helps,
    regards,
    -Ag.

  • Integrate Adobe LIfeCycle Designer 8.0 into NetWeaver Development Studio 7

    Hi everyone,
I need to integrate Adobe LIfeCycle Designer 8.0 into NetWeaver Development Studio, the issue is that I have installed Adobe LifeCycle but I wanted to know how in integrated into Netweaver Development Studio 7.0
    Thanks very much in advance,
    Armando

    Hello Armando,
If u have installed NWDS, during the NWDS there is a checkbox to include Adobe LiveCycle Designer. However , NWDS 7 setup includes designer 6.0.
Case 1 : If u have not checked the above checkbox during NWDS installation. You can directly install any Designer version.
Case 2 : If u have checked the checkbox during NWDS installation , when u install designer 7 or 8 it will give a message saying A version of designer already exists,In the above scenario, you will have to either uninstall desginer 6(if possible) or reinstall NWDS without checking the Desinger Checkbox. After that you can install any designer version u want.
    Hope it helps,
    Regards,

  • Adobe Indesign License

    Dear Customer Service,
We have Adobe Indesign 3.0 CS installed in one laptop, but the hard drive crashed. We are unable to deactivate InDesign in the laptop that crashed. We would like to reinstall InDesign in a new laptop and use the same serial number. Is there any way to recover the license?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Albert

This is NOT Adobe Customer Support. You need to call them. This is a forum of volunteers who attempt to answer questions using their InDesign experience. We can't answer questions regarding your InDesign license.

  • Issues with Adobe LifeCycle Designer

    Hi,
I m using Adobe LifeCycle Designer 7.0 with SAP NetWeaver 7.0.11 on windows XP.I m facing these 2 problems :
    1. In my form i have few subforms. For those i have set Auto fit property as true,Expand to fit property is true ,Allow multiple lines property is true ,Allow Page breaks within content property is true & the layout is flow content.
If the complete data for 1 subform is shown in same page,it shows the complete data but if the data is split into more than 1 pages, its showing the data in both pages but it truncates some data.
e.g. Suppose 1 have a subform & in that 20 rows are available. If that subform split in 2 pages,it shows 10 rows in 1st page but in 2nd page it shows only 6-7 rows & truncates 2-3 rows from the last.I m not sure what can be the problem.
    2. I m not able to put some extra space between 2 subforms while using Flow Content Layout.
    regards
    Sumit

To create a form in the AcroForm format or LiveCycle Designer you will need Acrobat Professional as Standard does not have the form tools. Although LiveCycle Designer will export in the XML format. It is also possible to export form data from Acrobat in the XML format by using the XFDF format.

  • Issues with Adobe LifeCycle Designer & SAP Netweaver

    Hi,
I m using Adobe Lifecycle Designer 7.0 with SAP NetWeaver 7.0.11 on Windows XP.I m facing these 2 problems in that.

    2. While using Flow content ,i m not able to put some blank spaces between 2 subforms.
    regards
    Sumit

    Hi Sumit,
You have probably worked this out by now but just in case anyone else has this problem (I remember how frustrating it was):
Just to point out this has nothing to do with NetWeaver (apart from the LiveCycle version it is using) only with LiveCycle.
Page flow will only occur within the parent subform so if you have an subform that is flowed it can only flow within the parent and if the parent is static (or positioned) then the child subform will appear to be cut off as it flows within its parent.
To be able to flow over pages you need to have all the parent objects right up the chain to the sub form that represents your page to be flowed as well.
The next challenge is to be able to position things the way you want them and flow your content. This is where you need to get a creative mix of positioned and flowed elements within your layout to achieve your goals.
Relating to the second question you can use the margin attributes to create space between two flowed objects.
    Hope this helps (someone...)
    Ben.
