Conditional display of h:column

I am trying to get a command link in a column of a data table to display conditionally on a row by row basis. I am using the JSF RI Beta.
item is the data table var.
<h:output_text value="#{item.parent}" /> will display true or false.
<c:if test="#{item.parent}"> does not appear to work. It behaves always false. Should I use a different syntax to reference this value in JSTL?
<h:column rendered="false"> has no effect.
<h:column rendered="#{item.parent}"> results in a null pointer error.
Ideas?
Thank you,
Ed

Try:
  <h:data_table value="#{SOME_LIST}"
                binding="#{helperBean.uidata}"
                var="item">
    <h:column>
      <h:SOME_COMPONENT rendered="#{helperBean.theCondition}"/>
    </h:column>
  </h:data_table>
  public class HelperBean {  // typically the bean which contains the data list
    public boolean theCondition() {
        int i = uidata.getRowIndex();
        if (i == -1) return true; // return value does not matter for index -1
        Item item = get_ith_item_of_your_sequence(i);
        return item.theCondition();
    private UIData uidata;
    public UIData getUidata() { return uidata; }
    public void setUidata(UIData uidata) { this.uidata = uidata; }

  • Master-Detail Form, Conditional Display of a Column Link

    Hey Guys,
    I've got a little question for you:
    I use a Master Report with a Column Link that i would like to hide when my Column in the Report named "NUMBER" is 0.
    I can't get it to work though. Using the "Conditional Display" stuff doesn't seem to work.
    I have looked at some CASE statements but i cant seem to make them fit!
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks alot,
    max

    sorry for the trouble, i am quite new to this.
    Yes, i took my Master Report and added a [column link]. I understand now how the sql has to look like but where do i put this?
    I cant find any space for a sql code, or does it belong in the conditional display section?
    I changed the Column Attributes to standard column, however, this seemed to have no effect.
    Do i have to chance my sql select query for the Report?
    It looks like this at the moment...
    SELECT
    "CONTENT_LOCALES"."CONTENT_LOCALE_ID" "CONTENT_LOCALE_ID",
    "CONTENT_LOCALES"."CONTENT_ID" "CONTENT_ID",
    "CONTENT_LOCALES"."LOCALE_ID" "LOCALE_ID",
    "CONTENT_LOCALES"."NAME" "NAME",
    "ORIGIN_TEXTS"."ORIGIN_NAME" "ORIGIN_NAME",
    "DESIGNS"."DESIGN_ID" "DESIGN_ID",
    "DESIGNS"."DESIGN_NAME" "DESIGN_NAME",
    "CONTENT_LOCALES"."SEQUENCE" "SEQUENCE"
    FROM
    "CONTENT",
    "DESIGNS",
    "CONTENT_LOCALES",
    "ORIGIN_TEXTS"
    WHERE (("ORIGIN_TEXTS"."GID" =:GID and "CONTENT"."CONTENT_ID" =CONTENT_LOCALES.CONTENT_ID and "CONTENT"."DESIGN_ID" =DESIGNS.DESIGN_ID and >"CONTENT_LOCALES"."CONTENT_LOCALE_ID" =ORIGIN_TEXTS.CONTENT_LOCALE_ID))

  • Conditional display of a column link in sql updateable report

    Hi There,
    I've attempted to look thru the Apex forum about using an Authorization Scheme in an SQL Query (Updateble Report) where I can conditionaly enable (display) a column link based upon a value in the report but alas I cannot find a solution.
    What I have is a SQL Query (updateable report). What I want to achieve is dependant on the value of one of the columns in the report query conditionaly display a column link for the row being displayed. For example if the report dispayed the data from emp, dept only display a column link for rows where the deptno = 100 otherwise don't display the column link. Is this possible to achieve?
    I've tried to define in the authorizatuon scheme in the where clause of an SQL Statement to reference the report column as #deptno# but this doesn't work.
    TIA

    Boketi,
    I was unsuccessful yesterday in demoing what I believe you want to achieve. It appears that an authorization scheme will not process row by row within a standard report so as to allow a conditional display of a link or any other column attribute. You can conditionally display a column by the use of a page item but this method appears to be all or nothing.
    I was successful when I coded the return of the empno via a Case statement but the Link still appeared even though there was no value (empno) to link with. So essence the link to you to a blank for with no PK to read the database by.
    SELECT CASE WHEN deptno = 10 THEN empno ELSE NULL END empno,
           ename,
           job,
           hiredate,
           sal,
           comm,
           deptno,
           phone_nbr
    FROM   empJeff

  • Interactive report conditional display of link column - apex 4

    I create an interactive report
    select object_id,
           object_name,
           case
            when mod(rownum, 2) = 0
            then 'block'
            else 'none'
           end  display_link
    from user_objects
    where rownum <= 10in the Link Column for the report I selected one of the edit icons and put the following in the link attributes
    style="display:#DISPLAY_LINK#"I also edited the object_id and set the Column Link and selected an edit icon and put the same style in the link attributes.
    The link under the column displays correctly but the link for the report does not seem to substitute the #DISPLAY_LINK# from the report. Any Ideas?

    Here's how I've done this:
    SELECT ORG_ID,
           CLEARER_NAME,
           LEGAL_NAME,
           MARGINING_ACCOUNT,
           RULE_GROUP_DESCR,
           VIOLATION_COLOR,
           VIOLATION_LEVEL,
           CASE MARGIN_IND
            WHEN 'Y' THEN '&nbsp'
            ELSE '<a href="#" title="Ignore This Alert"><img src="/i/ice/images/hide.png" alt="Ignore"></a>'
           END AS IGNORE_LINK,
           ....This takes care of either showing (or not showing) the link.
    IN order to process when it is present, not that the address is "#" This will cause your cursor to change to a hand (or whatever your pointer is) when the mouse floats over the link. The actual transfer to the next page, I handle with jQuery/JavaScript.
    Create a Dynamic Action.
    Event: Click
    Selector Type: jQuery Selector
    jQuery Selector: 'aalt'
    Event Scope: Live
    (note that the jQuery Selector is finding the alt attribute that I set on my link in the SELECT above . Tweak as needed.
    This "Action" for this DA will be to "execute JavaScript code"
    Normally, I would set some values into Page Items and then create a branch to pass this values to the next page. I am doing the same thing in the following code. I am getting the values off of the row wherein the user clicked on the link. I am setting these values from the row into the page item values. Then, I am submitting the page. All the "htmldb_Get" business is just stuff that I have to do to get the page item values into the session (so that I can pass them to the next page).
    var clickedRow = this.triggeringElement.parentNode.parentNode.parentNode;
    var ruleGroupDescr = $(clickedRow).children('td[headers="RULE_GROUP_DESCR"]').html();
    var ajaxRequest = new htmldb_Get(null, $x('pFlowId').value, null, 0);
    gReturn = ajaxRequest.get();
    $s('P31_RULE_GROUP_DESCR', ruleGroupDescr );
    ajaxRequest = null;
    var clearerName = $(clickedRow).children('td[headers="CLEARER_NAME"]').html();
    var ajaxRequest = new htmldb_Get(null, $x('pFlowId').value, null, 0);
    gReturn = ajaxRequest.get();
    $s('P31_CLEARER_NAME', clearerName );
    ajaxRequest = null;
    apex.submit("IGNORE");Finally, just create a branch to the next page and set the items on the next page to the ones on this page that are being set in the above script. Note that in my example, I have set the request to "Ignore" when I submitted; so, I set the condition of my branch to be Request = IGNORE.
    Hope this helps,
    -Joe

  • Conditional Display of Report Columns

    I'm trying to hide a vertical list column, but it is either permanently off or permanently on. Any ideas!
    For example:-
    Display Department name if not null

    now i get why you're not liking the report templates approach to this issue. to be honest, my other suggestion on that "Referencing Report Columns" thread might probably be okay here. assuming you're looking up your one detail row with a primary key value, doing the extra query can't be too expensive. if you don't want to go that route (though i'm likin' it, the more i think about it) or the templates one, you might consider either of these two angles:
    1) code the detail page's region as a plsql anonymous block that selectively shows what it needs to show.
    2) code the appropriate nvl's or case statements into your detail page's report region and have that select statement select out most of your html formatting for you.
    i don't particularly like either of the two above suggestions, but now you at least have them. i think i'd run with the solution where you select the detail row twice, but please don't quote me on that.

  • Conditional display of list box in form (depends on other report column)

    Hello,
    i have one question regarding conditional display in forms.
    I have a tabular form where only one column ("flag") is updateable, all other columns are visible only.
    I changed the column "flag" from "standard report column" to "Select list (static lov)", which has the values "yes" and "no".
    This works fine. But in the running form i want to display the list box only if the column "status" = 'ERROR'.
    The column "status" can have the values 'ERROR' and 'OK'.
    When one record has "status" = 'OK', the column "flag" should not display the list box (only empty column row),
    when one record has "status" = 'ERROR" the column "flag" should display the list box.
    The idea behind is that if a record has "status" = 'ERROR' i have the possibility to confirm that "error" and update the column "flag" with "YES". This should only be possible for errors.
    This is my main problem.
    I tried with conditional display, but this hides or shows the column for the whole report/form, not on record level...
    The second problem then is, that if the column "flag" is changed to "YES" in case of column "status" = 'ERROR', then it should not be possible to change it again to 'NO". At the beginning it is 'NO', but once changed to 'YES' it should not be changeable any more.
    Is this possible?
    Thank you in advance,
    Matthias

    Hello Mike
    your solution sounds good, but unfortunately it is not working.
    None of my 2 columns are displayed, although i tried it as you wrote and the conditions should match...
    But i am no sure if this can work. If so, the 2 columns must fuse to 1 column:
    ID STATUS FLAG
    1 ERROR yes/no => comes from column1
    2 OK (null => comes from column2
    so "FLAG" must display column1 and column2 in one column. is that possible?
    regards,
    Matthias

  • Conditionally displayed columns of interactive report not displayed

    We have an interactive report in which few of the columns have been defined with conditions for display.
    But on the interactive report page, when the conditions are satisfied these columns do not display in the report by default.
    These columns are found in the 'Select Columns' -> 'do not display' pane. Everytime the report is run, these columns need to be selected using the select column.
    Is there anyway to make the columns appear in the report by default, when conditions are true.

    Thanks Jari for your help.
    For this issue, we finally came up with a work around.
    we removed the conditions from all the columns then ran the application report page.
    Clicked on Select Columns and moved the columns from the do not display pane to the right pane.
    Ordered them as needed. Then saved the report as primary.
    Then again went to the edit page-> interactive report and applied the conditions to the necessary columns.
    and it worked.
    When I went to the report these columns are displayed by default.

  • Conditional display column in report

    Hi,
    If we have a single row report of 30 columns, and I want to display only the one with any values but null and hide the null ones, Is there a way to do it?
    It's the same issue discussed in this thread conditional display column in report
    thanks,
    Fadi.

    Samara - I suspect there are a few ways to do this, but none obvious or very easy as far as I can see.
    You can create dynamic SQL (as Arie and others have suggested) to only include the columns that are not null.
    You can build and output the HTML directly to the page, choosing only to include the values that are not null.
    You can create a set of conditions that you can apply to the report columns. A very crude example might be 30 hidden page items like 'SHOW_COL1' etc. (not great, I know), or perhaps you could set a hidden page item to a value like '01:02:03:'etc., with the number only being included if the value is not null (so that col3 being null gives you '01:02::04'etc.), so that the condition for each column is 'Text in expr 1 in contained in Item in expr 2', where expr 1 is '01' for column 1 etc.
    Sorry, that is a very contrived example, but it's just to illustrate that there's generally a way of doing pretty much anything in APEX. You might create your item containing the comparison expression by requerying the data in this kind of way:
    SELECT NVL2(column1, '01', '') || ':' || NVL2(column2, '02', '') || ':' etc.
    FROM table
    WHERE condition
    However, wanting to create a single-row report with nulls hidden makes we wonder what you're actually trying to achieve and whether there's a better way? Could you use a series of page items, for example?
    John.

  • Interactive report, conditional display of column link

    Hello,
    We have requirement to disable editing in case that status of field is 1 (1=Closed).

    Just by looking at this I would say you need to remove the "/" in front of the f?p
    Keep in mind this way could cause problems if you start to use checksum, then you might want to look into using APEX_UTIL.PREPARE_URL to create your URL.

  • Conditional display in a SQL-Report/Report Region

    Hi,
    here I have an example for "Conditional display in a SQL-Report/Report Region". I figured it out in Firefox 3.6.2 using Firebug as development tool on Apex 3.2.1.00.12.
    First you have to put the following javascript code in the Page HTML-Header:
    <script type="text/javascript">

    Maybe you have to modify the "vd_getBody" function. I'm searching the table cell with having the class "t10data". When you use another theme, there's maybe another class used.
    Second is, that you set an static id for your report region. I prefer this structure:
    R<app-id><page-id><seq> (Raaaaappppsss) e.g. R094260001010.
    First example is to turn off the onMouse-Effect. Maybe on the first or last column definition you put this code in the "HTML-Expression" area:
    <script>ex_conditional_tr('R094260001010', #ROWNUM#);</script>#ID#This will call the example function ex_conditional_tr with the parameter
    a) the region id
    b) the rownum (as oracle always starts with 1 this is the first data row [rownum=0 is the table header row])
    Second example is the conditional formatting of a table cell. Put this in the HML-Expression area:
    <script>ex_conditional_td('R094260001010', #ROWNUM#, #COLNUM#-1);</script>#ENAME#This will call the example function ex_conditional_tr with the parameter
    a) the region id
    b) the rownum
    c) the cellnum (here we have to subtract 1 to get the "real" cell index)
    The "ex_conditional" functions are just a representation of how to get the row or cell node.
    Hope this help a bit.

    I would use a CASE statement in the select....
    each CASE would be an img src tag for a different button if the button is an image.
    does that make sense? I can include an example if you would like...

  • Data not submitting when I have a conditional display on a date field

    Hello all,
    Could someone please help me with the following issue?
    I have created an updateable report region with four updateable fields. 3 of the fields store a number values and the fourth stores a date value.
    Each updateable report item has a conditional display, and whether they are displayed or not is controlled by the end user using a radio group (with submit). This provides the user with three options.
    If I remove all conditional displays all data will commit to the database without any problems. If I apply the conditional display to the number fields only, again the data will commit as normal. However, as soon as I add a conditional display to the date field it all goes pair shaped. The data will then cease to commit, with no error message at all. Once I remove the conditional display normal service is resumed.
    I'm certainly an APEX novice at the moment, so I wondered if anyone could shed some light on this.
    Thanks in advance for your help
    Steve

    Stew,
    Basically, I have edited each applicable report field column attributes, via the report attributes tab, and selected a conditional display 'Value of item in Expression 1 = Expression 2' for all of them.
    In the same report region I have created a radiogoup with submit called p51_update_type, specifying three static return values; R, F and S
    Condition e.g.
    *"Expression 1"*
    p51_update_type
    *"Expression 2"*
    S
    All columns display as expected, and commits to the database are normal, that is until I apply a conditional display to the date field (which relates to a table column of type DATE in the database).
    Thanks
    Steve

  • Is it possible to apply a condition on a single column?

    Morning All,
    Is it possible to apply a condition on a single column? My aim is to create a report that has multiple PTD columns, each based on a different Version ID.
    I've tried creating a calculation using the case statement shown below, however I get a blank column with nothing in: CASE WHEN VERSION_ID = ‘10’ THEN BALANCES.PTD END
    I know this can be done through a DB view/custom folder, however I’m looking for a solution that can be created in Desktop / Plus.
    Cheers,
    Lance

    OK. Hope this explains the problem well.
    This is the Crosstab Report without Annual Budget Column which looks great, all figures correct.
    http://vodashare.com/show.php/2929_Pic1.jpg
    After Adding Annual Budget column,
    http://vodashare.com/show.php/2930_Pic2.jpg
    This is the Table version of the above report with Annual Budget column
    http://vodashare.com/show.php/2931_Pic3.jpg
    Calculation Used for Annual Budget is
    SUM(( CASE WHEN ( ( Actual Flag = 'B' ) AND ( Status <> 'C' ) )
    THEN ( NVL(Period To Date Cr,0)-NVL(Period To Date Dr,0) )
    ELSE 0 END ))
    OVER(PARTITION BY Account,"Period Year" )
    According to the conditions ( Actual Flag = 'B' ) AND ( Status <> 'C' ), amount is calculated adding the (Cr – Dr) amount when these conditions are satisfied. But, How can I make sure the value is displayed only for rows that these conditions are satisfied?
    As you can see, it also displays the columns where Actual Flag != 'B' and Status = ‘C’
    Also, I wonder why the Crosstab worksheet with Annual Budget doesn’t display some of the amounts (Ex: for Account 301010, no Annual Budget is displayed where as in Tabular worksheet it is $5721017.50) and for the amounts displayed, why are they displayed at different levels of Sub Accounts?
    Note: I do get a warning when I Add the Annual Budget to worksheet.
    'You are combining a detail data point with an aggregate data point This may give you unexpected results'. But I am not using any detail items as data points.(not considering Status and Actual Flag, got same message even after removing those)
    Please let me know if you find a solution for your requirement Lance, that would help me.

  • Problems with Conditional Display and Read Only

    Hi Everybody,
    I have a form to Add/ Modify Table Info.
    I have column which stores numeric value (like no. of purchases, no.of returns etc.,) and I have a text field with this Database column as Source.
    In some cases the value is a foreign key (Id of the Owner, Buyer etc.,) to another table. In such cases, I want to display a select list containing people information. Is that possible?
    This is what I did to achieve that
    I added a select list with info from second Table. Made both the text field and the select list to conditional display and conditional read only.
    My understanding is that When an item is made read only it should not be saved to the Database.
    But while Updating I am getting the following Error
    ORA-06550: line 1, column 130: PL/SQL: ORA-00957: duplicate column name ORA-06550: line 1, column 7: PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored.
    Any can anybody help me out on this?
    Thanks
    Nimmi

    My understanding is that When an item is made read only it should not be saved to the Database
    No, all page items with a Source Type of "Database Column" will be used by the Automatic DML process to insert/update the database. Form inputs with the "disabled" HTML attribute set are not POSTed to the server.
    Try to create 2 items, one Select List and other Text Field but setup their conditions such that only one of them is rendered on the page at any given time. That might work.

  • Need help with conditional display

    I found a older thread (704012) that explains how to conditionally display a link using style.  Which is what I want to do.  The part I'm having trouble with is that part of the instructions say to put
    class="row_has_values_#HAS_VALUES#"
    in the Link Attributes which I have done.  I also have a column in the report called HAS_VALUES and I'm properly populating it in my select.  I know because I left it displayed while I'm testing.  I can run the report and I have Y's and N's showing up in that column but the conditional part does not work.  When I look at the page source (below) I see that in the html the #HAS_VALUES# has not been replaced by the actual Y or N.  I think that's where I'm having trouble?  I think it might work if there was a Y or N in that but I don't understand why that didn't happen.
    <tr class="odd"><td headers="LINK"><a href="f?p=125:3:12628966088981::NO::P3_PROGRAM_KEY:2" class="row_has_values_#HAS_VALUES#"><img src="/i/e2.gif"  border="0"></a></td><td  align="left"

    I've continued to snoop around and see lots of posts on conditional display in reports.  Common desire I guess.  I saw some stuff that I interpreted to suggest that what I'm trying to do may not work in interactive reports, only in classic reports.  Does that sound familiar?
    That would certainly apply to anything template-related. However there have been enhancements to IRs (like adding HTML Expressions) that might supersede information in older posts. If you provide a link to the sources you've found and the APEX version you're using someone will be able to confirm whether that information is relevant.
    Many other posts on doing things conditionally in reports seemed to lean towards "selecting" the html based on data values and then just letting that get put in the report column.  That looks promising but sure is a bit ugly.  I've very little apex experience but lots of mod pl/sql and that sort of solution was pretty common when I did stuff with it.  I saw a little suggesting using templates as a solution but I'll confess to not understanding it at all.
    As I pointed out in the original thread, if the conditional display of the link is in any way security related then CSS or JS/jQuery methods are not acceptable. If the user is not supposed to be able to click the link or see any data contained in it, then you have to use a method that ensures that the link element never reaches the browser.
    Hard-coding the link HTML in the report query is the common approach, but is as you say a bit ugly. Using a custom report template (my favourite APEX subject) enables clean separation of the report query, conditional logic and HTML structure. If you know HTML then you're advised to get familiar with using templates in APEX. You'll find this a major advance on the PL/SQL web toolkit. What is it that you're not understanding about using templates?
