Configure Report6i to use sql*net

Does anybody know how to configure Report6i server to use sql*net instead of Net8? Or how to use both? I really appreciate your help.

Hi bkt.engineer,
Yes, it is possible to override the default WCF DataContractSerializer behaviour when Serialize/DeSerialize entities and use JSON.NET instead. For more information, please try to refer to this similar thread:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3118504/how-to-set-json-net-as-the-default-serializer-for-wcf-rest-service .

  • How to connect to DB in repository assistant using SQL*net

    Hi all,
We are in RAC enviroment. When I try to connecting to oracle DB in repository assistant (the page that asks for SYS account), I check the SQL*net, and enter the net service name (absolutly also enter the SYS and SYS psw field), but the 'next' button is grey out.
according to installation guide, in a RAC environment, do not type the host name, port number and oracle service name. But in my case, I have to enter all these fields to enable the 'next' button.
any idea of how to fix it?
    thanks

I forget to say that I can connect to the repository browser using SQL*net. So I suppose that net service name is correct.
    thanks for any suggestion.

The tools netasst don't work with this version :( ...
I can use only the syntax sqlplus system/manager ... but i want simulate a C/S connection.

    Hi!
Starting from scratch, your users will not have a db account but do only exist in the OID. If you want to (or need to) create users in the database your problem does exist.
I believe that there are two possibilities:
    a) users exist in OID only, they authenticate against SSO/OID, the data is then extracted with an application user
    b) users do exist in the database, but you manage in the firewall that no direct connection from your users network is possible to the database server.

  • Can you setup Advanced queueing between 2 databases using SQL*net connection

    Hi experts,
Is it possible to setup AD between 2 databases without using DBlink? I know we can use Java program to do that. Unfortunately, I have no experience in Java.
    Our version databases is 10g
    Thanks in advance

I've got a new installation of Oracle 11.1.0.6.0 enterprise (Linux). It works fine with direct sqlplus connections but I'm having problems with SQL*net and JDBC thin client connections.
The database is built correctly and works fine:

but if I try to connect using SQL*net I get errors. I have my TNS listener configured and it starts without errors, reporting the database as a service, and tnsping is fine:

    Any suggestions?!

  • Sql*net V2 vs. Net 8

I need to connect Forms 4.5 with Oracle 8.
Since Forms 4.5 uses sql*net v2 and Oracle 8 supports Net 8 as TNS, how do i go about accomplishing this ?
    Need help ASAP.
    Thanks !

This forum is for Oracle Migration Workbench issues, i.e. migration using the workbench from a non Oracle database to an Oracle database.
Here are some pointers that may be useful, but you may need to get more information elsewhere, for example Oracle Customer Support.
a Oracle 7.1 client (including your example) will connect to an Oracle 8.1.5 server.
Is the server correctly configured (can a client connect from another machine)?
Tracing can be turned on in the client, server and/or listener to get further information.

  • Using SQL server instead of Olite in Oracle BPEL

I am now trying to use SQL 2000 server instead of Olite in Oracle BPEL. I couldn't find any instruction or admin config guide. Has anyone had any luck with this?
If anyone has any experience, please shed some light on this.
I am now able to get "domain_sqlserver" dll file populated into SQL server.
How di i configure BPEL to use SQL db instead of Olite? Do i need to set up database connections to work?
Thank you very much in advance.

    Edwin,
Thank you so much for the info.
I have emailed to [email protected] for the question.
Up to now, i have done the followings:
    1. I have successfully populated domain_sqlserver ito SQL 2000 with some modification.
    2. I have also configured data-sources.xml under ..\integration\orabel\system\services\install\config and unser ..\integration\orabel\system\appserver\oc4j\j2ee\home\config to use MSFT SQL 2000 instead of Olite.
    3. I have also commented out running kill_Olite.bat and start_olite.bat, and start SQL 2000 server.
    4. Installed Data Direct JDBC driver
Could you please kindly point me what are the rest of configuration required in order to make it work?

Wierd error. You might try running an strace on the sqlplus to

  • SQL*Net over IPC fails for normal users

When normal users try to use SQL*Net to log on to a local
database on a Linux box, they get the message "ORA-12546:
TNS:permission denied". An example of this would be the command:
    sqlplus scott/tiger@MG8
The oracle unix account can execute the above without problems
and when a normal user sets ORACLE_SID and omits the SQL*Net
    connect string it works fine.
Oddly, this is only a problem for connections using the IPC
protocol. If I omit the IPC section from my listener.ora
(leaving only the TCP section), non-privileged users can log on
to local databases through SQL*Net without problems.
I suppose it's not a big deal (there's not that much overhead
going through the TCP loopback port on Linux), but I'm wondering
what's wrong. SQL*Net over IPC certainly works on Solaris.
This is on a S.u.S.E 5.3 distribution of Linux.

  • SQL net easy configuration

I can't connect Developer 2000 at a client site with the Database on th Server:
AFTER INSTALLING THE DEVELOPER 2000 R2.1 ON THE CLIENT MACHINE(WIN 98),
I NEED TO CONNECT HIM TO THE ORACLE DATABASE(ORACLE 8 ENTERPRISE EDITION)
    ON THE SERVER(WINNT),
I DEFINED THE FOLLOWING SERVICE (DB ALIAS) ON THE ORACLE SERVER(TNSNAMES.ORA):
    XXX.WORLD =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS =
    (PROTOCOL = TCP)
    (HOST = 3.1.1.1)
    (PORT = 1521)
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = ORCL)
WHAT I DID WAS THAT I WENT TO SQL NET EASY CONFIGURATION, AT CLIENT MACHINE
AND SELECT TO ADD DATABASE ALIAS,
THEN I ENTERED THE DB ALIAS NAME: KOKO (FOR EXAMPLE)
THEN I ENTERED THE TCP\IP ADDRESS OF THE SERVER: 3.1.1.1,
THEN I ENTERED THE DATA BASE INSTANCE : ORCL,
THEN I CONFIRMED THE OPERATION AND EXIT THE SQL NET EASY CONFIGURATION.
THEN I WENT TO THE TNSNAMES.ORA FILE, AND CHECK FOR THE DEFININTION, AND IT
    WAS OK. AND AS FOLLOWS:
    KOKO.WORLD =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS =
    (COMMUNITY = TCP.WORLD)
    (PROTOCOL = TCP)
    (HOST = 3.1.1.1)

    (ADDRESS =
    (COMMUNITY = TCP.WORLD)
    (PROTOCOL = TCP)
    (HOST = 3.1.1.1)
    (PORT = 1526)
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = ORCL)
THEN I TRYED TO CONNECT TO THE DATABASE USING SQLPLUS8 FROM THE USER MACHINE,
    BUT I GET THIS ERR MSG;
    ERROR:
ORA-12154: TNS:COULD NOT RESOLVE SERVICE NAME
I TRYED TO GO TO ORACLE REGISTRY FILE AND ADD A STRING LOCAL: XXX
THIS XXX IS THE NAME OF THE DATABASE ALIAS ON THE SERVER.
AFTER THAT I TRYED TO CONNECT TO THE DATABSE, AND I GOT THE SAME ERR MSG:
    ERROR MSG:
    ERROR:
ORA-12154: TNS:COULD NOT RESOLVE SERVICE NAME
IF YOU HAVE AN IDEA, I WILL APPRECIATE SHARING IT.

    hi,
If you are installing D2K on '98 please insure the following:
    1. does the cient machine have orawin95/98 folder?
    2. In orawin95/net80/admin you said you have TNSNAMES.ORA but do you also have SQLNET.ORA with a proper configuration pointing to TNSNAMES.ORA?

We are evaluting Developer 6.0 Beta version.

  • Using blobs with SQL*Net 8

    Hello,
Can someone please help me get oriented in the following:
Clients have Oracle Forms Developer 6i installed on 100 machines. This is from 1996 I think. It comes with SQL*Net 8.
They want a simple utility that uploads a file into a blob field on the remote database.
I already developed the utility thinking that they have Oracle 9i2 installed - so I used OCCI. This is not a possibility with the old technology they are actually using..
So what is the place to start?
    Thank you!!

I have seen that on my laptop as well and it was due to display /resolution setting. Please see if that helps you. BTW, as already answered, services.msc is another way of changing it.
