Connect to Visual Admin - xmla connector - java - mdx

I'm trying to code (Java) a direct execution of an MDX statement using the BI XMLA Connector.  I've set-up visual adminstrator with the connector information and followed the instructions from the link below.  I am still unable to establish a connection.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi
Can anyone help me in configuring JDBC Connector -> Data source for Oracle.
    Regards,
    Murali.

    Hi,
    Here are the steps,
    1. Create a driver (say, refer to it as "ORACLE"), and include the classes12.zip file in it.
    2. Create a DataSource ("ORACLEDS") and configure it like this:
    a. Add an alias ("ALIAS")
    b. Driver Name = ORACLE
    c. JDBC Version = 2.0 (with XA support)
    d. Object Factory =
    e. DataSource Type = XADataSource
    f. XADS Classname = oracle.jdbc.xa.client.OracleXADataSource
    g. In the additional properties pane, add 3 properties:
    i. Password = ~PWD to your Oracle server~
ii. User = ~Username to your Oracle server~
    iii. URL = jdbc:oracle:thin:@~IP:PORT:ALIAS~
    h. SQL Engine = Vendor SQL

  • Visual Admin Login

    Hello,
    We have Netweaver 7.0 ABAP+Java.
I copied used J2EE_ADMIN to J2EE_ADMIN1 in the UME data source client - 400.
    User type - Service User
I created a new connection in Visual Admin using Message Server
    Entries -
    User name : J2EE_ADMIN1
    Host: ASMVTOL14 (hostname of server)
HTTP Port: 8101 (message server is on instance 01)
    Load Balancing Method: Random
    Transport Layer: Default
But when I try to connect using the new connection and user J2E_ADMIN1. It gives me error - User Authentication failed.
However, the password is correct. I am able to log into Client 400 of ABAP using the same credentials.
I checked the Logs(defaulttrace) and there is no error in that.
    kindly help.

    Hi Gautam,
If the UME database is ABAP System, you cannot modify in the portal as if some restrictions are placed for the same.
You can modify the J2EE_ADMIN1 in the backend system SU01...
As per details for connecting visual admin
    User name : J2EE_ADMIN1
    Host: ASMVTOL14 (hostname of server)
HTTP Port: 8101 (message server is on instance 01)
    Load Balancing Method: Random
    Transport Layer: Default
Please re-check the message server port. and try again
    Hope it helps
    Regards
    Arun

  • Dispatcher service is yellow and unable to start visual admin.

    Hello all:
    Here is my new problem.
Everything was going fine untill I finished the post installation activites on PI7.0. I am not sure if I missed any step or not.
After the changes I stopped the instance and restarted it and the "Disp+word.exe" is yellow with the message <b>"Running, Message Server connection ok, Dialog Queue time: J2EE:Some Processes running".</b>
I can't connect to Visual admin. Getting an error when hit connect "<b>unable to loockup connection default, http:
sapinst001:8010/msgserver/text/logon returned empty list of conneciton parameters"</b>
Check the log files and here are some info from them:
    Dev_Server0:
    Thr 1644] *** WARNING => INFO: Unknown property [instance.box.number=PI7DVEBMGS00sapinst001] [jstartxx.c   841]

    [Thr 1644] *** WARNING => INFO: Unknown property [instance.system.id=0] [jstartxx.c   841]
Can you please help me with this? I need to finish this install by Monday.
    Regards,
    N.S

It's important to understand if the dispatcher is not running or just the server is not running: try to look to the log files
    /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS<nr>/work/dispatcher
    /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS<nr>/work/server0
    and
    /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS<nr>/j2ee/cluster/server0/log/defaultTrace.trc
You should find the error that prevent the java application to start.
The more common reason are the inability to detect the path of JRE or some parameter wrong in the configtool

  • Locked out of J2EE Visual Admin and other  problems

I recently tried to install some Java PDK components using the SDM tool. However it failed when trying to deploy the javadoc component. Since then the following has occurred:
    1. My enterprise portal website is unavailable (ERROR: 'Details: Web container not available!').
    2. I can't login into the J2EE admin tool (ERROR: 'the object does not exist') using either the initially reset Admin password (as part of the original install) or 'admin'.
    3. In the SAP MMC, the Server 0 instance displays yellow, with the jcontrol.exe status (under Process List) as 'some processes running' and server0 (under Process Table) status as 'starting applications'.
    4. The log file on the J2EE database is 100% (not sure if this is relevant or not).
I've tried to undeploy the java components in case they are the cause of the above issues but get the following error in SDM:
Info: ***** Begin of SAP J2EE Engine Online Undeployment (J2EE) *****
No information about the J2EE engine cluster is available. The online undeployment process is continuing.
Info: ***** End of SAP J2EE Engine Online Undeployment (J2EE) *****
Error: Undeployment of SDA executed with errors.
    Error:  See below for details:

    (message ID: com.sap.sdm.serverext.servertype.inqmy.extern.EngineAppOnlineUndeployerImpl.checkLoginCredentials.DMEXC)
    Error: Result: error
In summary, assuming the new java components broke the EP and J2EE I can't undeploy them (because J2EE is broken) in order to fix J2EE. Damned if I do and damned if I don't.
Does anyone know why I can't login to J2EE VA, why the J2EE server only partials starts up, why the EP is not working, or how I can truncate the database log file?
    I'm running EP 6.4 SP9 on W2K3.
    Mike D.

    Hi Mike,
May be the following link will help you.
J2EE Engine start error: Database initialization failed!
Moreover, make sure that your port no to which connecting through visual admin is around 50000.

  • BI Xmla Connector

    Hi All,
I have an installation of BW & wants to configure SAP BI XMLA Connector. I am using the BW XMLA provider. What should i give for my DATASOURCE property. Is it my server itself or ?. Similarly wht username too.. is it the j2ee_admin or a user name in the BW sapce like SAP*.
    Thanks in Advance
    Christian

    Hi,
The BI XMLA Connector allows you to connect applications built with the BI Java SDK to data sources such as Microsoft Analysis Services, Hyperion, MicroStrategy, MIS, and BW 3.x. This connector is fully compliant with the J2EE Connector Architecture (JCA) and may be deployed into SAP's J2EE Server.
You can also use the BI XMLA Connector to make these data sources available in BW, via BW's UD Connect.
The BI XMLA Connector implements the BI Java SDK's IBIOlap interface.

  • J2EE Visual Admin Tool stops at 99%

    Hello everyone,
I have  a problem with the Visual Admintool for the J2EE of an EP 6.0 SPS12 Installation on W2k. The tool worked properly before I installed TREX 6.1.
After I connect sucessfully with the admin tool it runs slowly up to 99% and stops here. The Tree of dispatcher and his services are viewable but I cannot expand the server node.
The TREX is running fine, all services are green. The Portal is available and the MMC of Portal shows all green (all services/intances started successfully). I can login and administrate the portal. But I can't configure the TREX for the portal because I can't access the Servernode in Visual Admin.
I checked the logs for the admin tool but there are no errors. The info in admin tool shows no error too. Maybe some additional traces and logs must be first activated.
On the system is a second EP and TREX running but I stopped all other applications, restarted the portal and tried to connect with visual Admin. It stops again at 99%.
Saw some threads with a solution to modify the hosts file or change the heap size of J2EE but no one confirmed that this has helped.
Does someone has an idea what I could check next?
    Regards
    Alex

    Hello Praveen,
thanks for your hint. I checked the note which is very old and only for release 6.20 (I'm on 6.40). I found a similar error in my logs but this error was produced by a failed login and was not releted to my problem. I checked again my logs after but could not find any helpful entry here.
Some more ideas? Looks like a candidate for a OSS message to SAP again.

  • Error in connecting Visual Admin.

Hi all , postong a new therad.
after appying some of the patches we are unable to connect into Visual administrator. The Pop up says:
    com.sap.engine.services.security.except
    ions.BaseLoginException: Can not
    create new Remote LoginCOntext.
    Any clue on this :
    Thanks.

    Hi,
If you no longer connect to the Visual admin it is better change the password of the user j2ee_admin as mentioned bellow
You have to change the J2EE Engine administrator password in the secure store as follows:
    1. Start the Config Tool by executing the /usr/sap/<SID>/<Instance name>/j2ee/configtool/configtool script file.
    2. Select secure store.
    3. Select the admin/password/<SID> entry.
    4. Enter the J2EE Engine administrator user new password in the Value field and choose Add.
    5. Choose File -> Apply to save the data.
    6. Restart the J2EE Engine
Also check this PAG for java Problems.

And, according to this release note:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/swing/SwingChanges.html#4668963
...sounds like exactly what you are seeing.
Metal Can Now Pick up Font Sizes from the Desktop on Microsoft Windows
The bugtraq reports that correspond to this change are: 4419964 and 4668963.
Prior to this release, the DefaultMetalTheme ignored the font size information from the Windows desktop. As of release 1.4.1, DefaultMetalTheme can use the font sizes specified in the Windows desktop. This can be disabled using the system property swing.useSystemFontSettings. An additional part of this bug is that our Windows look and feel was picking up the wrong fonts for a handful of components; this has been fixed.

  • Installing SAP Java License without Visual Admin

    Hi All,
I installed a stand alone SAP Java instance a couple of months ago and the temp license key has expired.
I have applied for a perm license key, which I now have.
    Here is my main issue:
    1. The JControl service will not start because it "failed license check"
    2. The Java VM won't start because of issue "1".
    3. I can't start the Visual Admin tool because of issue "2".
Hope that all makes sense :-s
    Main Question:
Does anyone know how to install my new license WITHOUT using the Visual Admin tool?
    Thanks to anyone who responds.
PS: I do credit responses if they are helpful
Edited by: Paul Baverey on Jan 23, 2009 12:44 PM

    Hi Tobias,
Incase if we miss that 30 mins to update the license, how can we install the new license. Is there any possible way to update from configtool?
    Thank you,
    Kasi

Multiple causes can generate this error. Some possibilities:
    a) the ciphers between your client and server don't match; validate the Ciphers line /etc/ssh/sshd_config:
grep Ciphers /etc/ssh/sshd_configb) your sshd is running without host keys (p.e. manually adding sshd to your system after install); generate the host keys:
    /lib/svc/method/sshd -c
    svcadm restart ssh
