Connecting ODI with planning

Hi all,
Iam using ODI 10g with planning 11.1.2.1 in 64bit platform, both the servers are intalled in the same machine. Im trying to load metadata to a planning application through ODI, but when trying to do reverse in Developer, its throwing error:
org.apache.bsf.BSFException: exception from Jython:
Traceback (innermost last):
File "<string>", line 32, in ?
com.hyperion.odi.planning.ODIPlanningException: Could not connect the Planning instance on host [hyperion], port [19000], check if connect information is correct.
my workspace url:
http://hyperion:19000/workspace/index.jsp
I checked my planning port in EMP configurator, and it was 8300 while my HyperionRMIregistrystdout file has port 11333.
what is the port number that i need to use while creating a planning data server ?Now should i use an agent to complete the reverse? And is it necessary to install JDK to run the agent?
Please

Thanks SH for the reply. But could you please help me with the other two questions that ive asked.about using an agent and about jdk..how should i proceed to do a reverse of planning application. coz even with 11333 the agent fails to connect successfully.
getting the following error:
ava.lang.Exception: Socket disconnected

  • ODI with Planning 11v

    Hi John,
If we procure Hyperion planning 11v, do we also get ODI as part of the suite or do we need to get the license seperately.

If you go to edelivery and download the documentation there is a pdf called epm_licensing that tells you what you are entitled to depending on what are licensed for.
So for planning plus it would be :-
Restricted use Oracle Data Integrator and Application Adapter for Data Integration (restricted to use with HyperionPlanning Plus as the only target)
    Cheers

  • Connecting ODI with MS Access

    Hi,
How do I connect MS Access with Data Integrator? Would appreciate the help.
    Chanduwar

    Hi Chanuwar,
Below are the steps to create DSN in Vista.
    Step 1 -->Click on Start-->Setting -->Control Panel-->Administrative Tool -->Data Sources (ODBC).
Step 2-->Click on System DSN--> Click on Add
Step 3 -->Once you click on Add,you will get all the Drivers name click on Microsoft Access Driver .There are two Microsoft Access Driver in the list. Please select the appropriate one based on your office version.
Step 4 -->Just double click on the Driver ,you will get an ODBC Microsoft Access Setup Screen. Enter the DSN name and select the folder where you have placed your Access File.
Once you select the path ,click on ok your DSN would get created.
Please let me know in case i can assist you further and marked this thread helpful /correct if it assisted you.

    Hi,
I know you have another post of the subject but I am finding it hard to understand what you are actually asking.
I think you need to expand on where you are finding issues.

  • Is ODI 10.1.3.5 compaitable with Planning 11.1.2?

    Hello,
We are upgrading to Hyperion 11.1.2 (specifically Planning and Essbase) and we need to know if our current ODI 10.1.3.5 will be able to connect and load to the new version of the Hyperion software. It would save a lot of time and effort if we did not have to upgrade ODI at this point.
    Thanks for any help,
    Nick

ODI 10.1.3.6 is supported with Planning 11.1.2.x

  • Dynamic Time Series with Planning connection?

    Hi guys,
I have built some reports in HFR, with a connection to a Planning application (the architect requested so). But the only way to get the YTD function properly working is using an Essbase connection (I got an error with the Planning connection).
My question is: can reports with DTS function be built with a Planning connection? Version is 11.1.2.2.
    Could you please help me?
    Thanks!
    Lu

Is the report showing any Planning specific content? supporting detail/ cell comments?
If not you can use an Essbase connection. However if you do so then the way metadata is presented is going to be different (if you use planning connection then the member level security will mimic what is in Planning).
You cannot use attributes with a planning connection too.

  • Can we use ODI with Informatica for Planning and Essbase

If we have Informatica datawarehouse, can I use ODI to integrate with Essbase and Planning ? Or do we need to buy informatica adapters for essbase/planning ?

Thank you John, for your response. We are accessing our options as to which way to go. We dont have licenses for ODI for Essbase or Planning. We have informatica expertise we would like to use them. The confusion is should we buy the adapters for informatica or licenses for ODI. I understand having ODI with Informatica would add an additional integration layer.

  • Sql Server Connectivity issue with ODI Data Profiler

    Hi all,
To profile data from SQL Server Data source, i had created a ODBC connection(using Windows NT authentication) in the system and it was successful. Created a connection with Type ODBC connection in Loader Connections along with System name, Port No and DSN Name. But while trying to connect the database it is throwing an error as Authentication Failed. Please guide me.

ODI's DP does not support the use of sourcing data on the ODBC data source. You must extract to a file, and use the file as the input.

  • Has anyone had issues with Planning security refreshing in Essbase

I am on Planning version 9.3.0.1 and we are having issues with planning users being able to use an essbase connection to pull data from smartview. They are able to see data in web forms in planning but they get #no access when they try to connect to the same data in smartview.
Has anyone else experieced this issue.

If user works when you provision individually its because they were set in the environment in EAS.
group has to have all the access needed (bug in orig). css file open a ticket for the file name. example user needs calc access you setup calc but bug in system is not also giving user read and write access. Thus you can individually add this to the group in provisioning area in shared services. in EAS goto File open- editors create/run script with
    alter user 'userID' Add application_access_type Planning;
alter user 'userID' add application_access_type Essbase; to add user to the environment if error you need to refresh eas first then run maxl script for planning you also need to go to workspace and select any of your dimensions all your groups ...edit .. migrate identities.. to get group/Users in planning wether adding or removing users. when you do planning changes you need to do database and security filters refresh.

  • Installation of ODI with SQL Server 2005

    Hi
I am trying to install ODI with MS Sql Server 2005.
I created a database in Sql Server & created a user with db_owner rights for logging into the database.
While trying to install Master Repository, i selected Sql Server with following details
    Driver: com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
    URL: jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://<myhostname>:1433;SelectMethod=cursor
The repository does not get created giving error:
*com.sunopsis.core.q: java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC][SQLServer]The incoming tabular data stream (TDS) remote procedure call (RPC) protocol stream is incorrect. Parameter 1 (""): Data type 0x38 is unknown*
Now if i change the URL to jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://<myhostname>:1433, the repository gets created successfully. But at the time of login into the topology manager using the same Master repository, it again prompts me the same error.
Has anyone faced the same issue?

    Hi,
You are using SQL server 2005 but trying to connect using the SQL server 2000 connection details you should be using
    com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
    jdbc:sqlserver://ServerName:1433;databaseName=DBNAME;SelectMethod=cursor
You will also need to make sure you are using the correct SQL server 2005 driver, if you are using a version of Java before 1.5 for ODI then you will need the SQL Server 2005 1.2 JDBC driver.
    Cheers

do not connect, somebody knows how can I connect? Thanks for your help.

Very likely (see Metalink Note 788777.1) this is because the version of the JDBC driver and the OCI libraries is different.
Use the JDBC driver of the same version as the installed Oracle client libraries.

  • How to link ODI with ESB???

    Hi,
I need to know how to link ODI with ESB(Enterprise Service Bus)....
should i expose ODI as a web service or is there any other way to link these two...
please reply me asap its very urgent...
    Regards,

    I'm also interested on this.
I don't know very much about ODI, but could point the following:
1 - Your datasource could be exposed as a web service, as you suggested, and be exposed for ESB to consume.
2 - ESB can connect to your data source (not ODI, but the datasource the ODI act on) using a DBAdapter.
3 - ESB can send a JMS message that can be consumed by an ODI JMS based datasource (I'm not sure)
4 - ODI can have a Web Service based datasource that points to a web service exposed by ESB.
When I see ODI Topology Manager, I can identify these options.
