Connecting Oracle 9i and Dev 6i

Dear Fellows,
I installed first dev 6i than i installed oracle 9i on the same drive but different folder and different home.
now forms are not being connected to oracle. Can you help to solve this problem?
Thanks

Somewhere, in the Oracle menu, you should have Home Selector : try to use it to set the dev6i Home. Then you have to configure a DB alias in TNSNAMES.ORA. You can use Net Easy Configuration to do that.
Of course your DB has to be configured with the listener, and both have to be up and running.

  • Connect Oracle 10g and OWB to SQL Server 2005 in Windows XP

    I am unable to create a working connection between Oracle 10g and a SQL Server database. I have followed the instructions in several sources, but when I attempt to connect to the MSSQL database through SQL Plus or SQL Developer, I get the ORA-03135 error. I set up a non-Oracle location in OWB and the connection test was successful but the metadata would not import. Creating an Oracle location with the same parameters produced the ORA-03135 error.
    In TNSNAMES.ORA I placed the following definition:
    MSSQL =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = wgilt1.hsd1.nj.comcast.net)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = MSSQL)
         (HS = OK)
    In LISTENER.ORA I placed the following in the SID_LIST_LISTENER:
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME = MSSQL)
    (ORACLE_HOME = C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_2)
    (PROGRAM = hsodbc)
    The inimssql.ora file contains the following:
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = MSSQL
    HS_DB_NAME = MSSQL
    HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = ON
    HS_FDS_TRACE_FILE_NAME = c:\hs_fds_mssql.log
    What is missing?

    could be a copy paste issue, but please make sure the tnsnames.ora has at least on space in from of each line after the alias.
    In addition what is the listener status? Please post the output of lsnrctl status <listener name>.
    Need to know also the output of: C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_2\bin\hsodbc

  • How to use jdbc to connect oracle

    I want use jdbc direct to connect oracle database,and I
    want to use sun Company or oracle Company driver. how can I get driver and how do I write connection string?
    Deeply to wait your reply,thank you!

    The correct format would be jdbc:oracle:thin@server:port:sidTry "jdbc:oracle:thin:@192.168.84.20:1521:ORDB","ysys","fareast"and see what happens.
    Note that you two formats for the DriverManager.getConnection() method; if DriverManager.getConnection(db_url, username, password) doesn't work, try the other call with a fully-qualified database url:DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:ysys/[email protected]:1521:ORDB")The SID is the server ID that was given to the instance when the database was installed; default is ORCL, but may have been changed. Port default is 1521, but again, this may be different for your system.

    Go to System Administration
    -> System Configuration
    -> System Landscape
    -> select a Folder where you want to store your system object
    -> right click -> New System
    -> in the wizard, select JDBC System
    -> enter values
    -> edit
    Then fill in the correct values as stated here:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/84/d5df3df2ad685ae10000000a11405a/frameset.htm
    Then assign an Alias and enter some usermapping data for the system.
    You then can use the ConnectorService to get a native sql connection and fire statements. I'm sure you can find some examples here.

  • Oracle  10g with dev 6i or 6

    can we connect oracle 10g with dev 6i or 6

    Yes , you can.
    From Oracle Metalink(certify page), you can see that Forms 6i with a 10gR1 database used to be supported since 6i patch 17.
    Anyway Forms 6i product is desupported.
    But you can still see that it used to be supported, so it should run without problems as long as you have patch level 17 (or higher)
    Other info you can found in Grant Ronald's blog

  • CONNECTING ORACLE 9I OR 10G DATABASE WITH ORACLE 10G FORMS AND REPORTS

    pls tell how to connect oracle 9i or 10g database with oracle developer suite 10g . though the forms are getting connected but not running with error as
    FRM-10142 the HTTP listner is not running on pls start the listner or check your runtime preferences.
    now pls tell how to start listner and how to chage runtime preferences.
    though i have worked with oracle 9i and forms 6i where we used to copy the tnsnames.ora from network/admin of oracle to forms 6i tnsnames.ora.
    thank you, you may be thinking such a long question.....

    sir
    By server i mean the computer where oc4j and backend database are running is one one of the client pc not a dedicated server..., these database and 10g dev suite are installed in one of the client machine,
    all the clients are using same internet explorer as browser.
    no message is being displyed on some of the client machine where these forms are not being uploaded on browser instead it displays as done in status bar without actually showing anything at all...
    sir so far as jinitiator or JRE is concered i have seen on the client machine (where my forms are running on internet explorer) a pop up is displyed telling one activex control is required to run this program and click to install it..
    after clicking it download jinitiator from server and after installing jinitiator my forms are loaded and start functioning...
    what i feel is as i said this machine where oc4j and database is running is one of the client machine so some other clients do not have acess to this machine, so this might be the reason why those clints are not able to run the said forms on the internet explorer.... can it be so... kindly tell..
    thank you for your patience for reading the question

  • Error to connect oracle 10g client and designer BO 4.0

    hello,
    I try to connect oracle 10g client and designer BO 4.0.
    I created an ODBC connection to function in the administration tools of data sources but I can not connect once in designer.
    I tried using the driver directly oracle designer 10 but I have the same error that is this:
    DBD: ORA-12154: TNS: connection identifier specified could not be resolved
    someone there had the same concerns?
    cordially

    Hi,
    so it looks like that your TNSNAMES.ORA file isn`t properly configured. Thats why you can connect with the IDT to your Oracle Database.
    Your DBA`s should sent you the correct TNSNAMES.ORA file or the entry for your DB prior. After the tnsping works, you will be able to use the IDT properly.
    Regards
    -Seb.

    Hi Everybody,
    First i thanks Dan Abugov for quick reply fr my previous query.
    I am working on the Oracle Spatial and MapServer

    When I pass the query(shown below), the empty image is displayed in the browser without any map
    http://localhost/cgi-bin/mapserv.exe?map=/ms4w/apps/sdocountry/sdocountry.map&layers=country&mode=map
    I created .map file (shown below) with the Oracle Spatial Connection.

    Prema,
    If you haven't already, you may want to post this same question to one of the MapServer mail lists (http://mapserver.gis.umn.edu/community/mailinglists/) - most MapServer users/developers are very quick to respond as well.

  • Oracle 10G and UCCX 5.0 Database Connection return 0 rows on query

    Currently I have an issue with UCCX 5.0 and Oracle 10G, we need to access a table on an Oracle10G DB, form IP IVR, so I installed the driver, created the ODBC connection and declared the ODBC, user and password on the Database subsystem (name on UCCX match the ODBC name) and restarted the engine.
    Im trying to do simple select statement (SELECT * FROM TABLE) and I'm getting a 0 count once I test it.

    Hi,
    I see it has been a while since you posted this question, but I am having exactly the same problem with an Oracle integration and I was wondering if you were able to fix this and how.
    Your reply will be greatly appreciated.

  • Can Oracle 7i and 8i be connected from Oracle 9i database

    I want to know if i can do the following. That means is it possible in production scenario. If yes then how and will it affect the performance to a great extend.
    We are now upgrading the application server to weblogic 10.3 . But this server supports only Oracle 9i and above. But we have two more data server which are Oracle 8i and Oracle 7i. These databases will be upgraded later on but not now. So the problem is i can not connect to these Oracle database versions if i use Weblogic 10.3. So i wanted to know if there is any possibility of connecting the application server to a intermideate Oracle 9i database which will act as a bridge from Application server to Oracle 7i and 8i. Can Oracle 9i connect to Oracle 7i and 8i. If yes then how. You can provide me online references if any.
    Thanks in advance. Waiting for your reply.

    The connection what you are refering is from a normal pc to Oracle 7i or 8i database. But i want to connect from Oracle 9i to Oracle 8iWhen connecting from one db to another (via a db_link) the 'calling' db is just another client to the 'called' db. if you can connect to 7.x (there was no 7i) with a 9.x sqlplus, then you should be able to connect with a 9.x database. At a previous job, we did something similar to get an app compiled against 8.1 to use a 10.2 database - set up a 9.2 intermediary that had nothing but db_links and synonyms pointing on to the 10g.
    However, I wouldn't bet the company on making your scenario work. You really should upgrade your databases first.
