Connecting to a Home Theatre Sys

Hi,
I have an X-fi Platinum Fatalty Champion card with the front X-fi I/O dri've. Is there any way to connect via the optical cable there to an AV receiver and output it through my 7. speakers which are connected to the reciever. The speakers are the traditional?speakers with cables which you have to solder (don't know their names, sorry). If it is possible will I still get all of the CMSS and all of the X-Fi effects still intact.

Hi, I have a Soundblaster audigy 2 im not sure which model but it has a pink digital out audio socket on the back of it. My sony system has a digital optical in socket on it. I am having problems connecting them. I brought the following

as it has a miniplug adaptor which i thought I could use on one end to connect to my soundcard digital output and connect the other end to my home theatre system. Did I get the wrong wire? I am having a similar issue. I would like to connect my Audigy 2ZS to a Sony Reciever (STR DE-898) preferably via the digital out. The sound card and reciever are 25 feet apart.
I have read that the digital out on the Audigy 2ZS is specifically for creative lab speakers, and that if you connect it to a normal reciever that it may damage the reciever is this true?
Second, the other option that I have is to buy the 7. adaptor and connect RCA extension cables to the reciever.
The last option is to connect it to the regular headphone jack out, and use an extension cable to connect to the reciever (This is what I am currently using), but the sound quality is terrible.

Connecting my Sony Home Theatre System to my many devices???

I have a Sony HT-DDW990 (Home Theatre Receiver with Subwoofer and 5 speakers) and I need to connect it to all the following devices:
LCD TV - Model: Sony Bravia KDL46V2500
DVD Player - Model: Sony DVP-NS78H
Digital Cable Receiver - Model: Scientific Atlanta Explorer 4250HD (Videotron)
Playstation 3
Nintendo Wii
I need to know first if it is even possible to hook up all these devices together.
Is there a website I can go to that can let me choose the devices I want to hook up to one another? I need step-by-step instructions and also the cables I will need (ex. HDMI cables, Audio/Optical cables etc.).

That TV only had 2 HDMI inputs and the receiver only has 2 HDMI inputs, and it will not upconvert the wii to HDMI. So heres what we will do and need:
You need 4 HDMI cables, one optical cable, and get rid of the Wii video cable and replace it with a Wii component video cable.
Plug one cable from the hdmi out of the receiver to HDMI one of the TV. For HDMI 2 of the tv, plug in the PS3. Plug the Wii into component video 1, there is an optical out on the TV, the optical cable will go to one of the receivers optical inputs.
Plug the dvd and cable box to the receiver using HDMI. The inputs are most likely labeled Cable TV? and DVD.
When watching Cable and the Sony dvd the tv will need to be on HDMI 1, then select between DVD and the cable box on the inputs of the receiver. Video will go to the TV, audio will come out of the speakers.
for wii and the PS3 you will select that on the TV, HDMI 2 for PS3 and COmponent 1 for Wii. To get the audio, turn the receiver input to whichever optical input the cable got plugged in to. This will be the input for the audio when you are using these two devices.
If no sound comes out, then you will need to enter the tv's menu and disable the TV speakers, and sound will then rerout to the receiver.
If you have any more hookup questions, ask. It isn't easy for you due to your limited inputs on the TV and the receiver. I will check back to see how you do.
If you want to make life easier, Keep your speakers and get a new receiver and life will be so easy. Everything can pass through the receiver. Call around for a Sony receiver Model: STR-DH800 | SKU: 9246602, maybe find an open box deal. Everything can pass through that unit, and one HDMI to the TV.

Connecting computer and home theatre to insignia TV

I just bought a denon home theatre surround sound. I have my insignia TV connected to my XBOX, blu ray, and computer. Is there some way I could connect all these things to my TV and have them play through my surround sound? Basically can I use my free HDMI port to play all these things through my surround sound?

You have two options here...
You can do an all HDMI connection using your Denon receiver as a hub, or you can go all sources via HDMI straight to the TV using and optical out connection back into your Denon receiver set.
The computer may make the Denon connection problematic.

You can use the Digital AV Adapter with an HDMI cable or you could get the Apple TV to connect the iPad to the Sony wirelessly.

Connecting ATV2 to Home Theatre???

Has anyone any idea how to set apple tv2 with an LG home theatre to achieve 5.1 surround and be able to use airplay mirroring. Any Help would be Great ive tried 2 ways and both havnt worked yet. They are optical cable from blu ray player to apple tv and hdmi from blu ray to tv and the other way is HDMI from apple tv to blu ray and HDMI between Blu ray player and TV. Any help would be great. Why exactly would you connect the ATV to the BluRay? Is the BluRay built into the Home Theatre system?
The ATV needs to either be connected to the TV or to the receiver preferrably via HDMI. Just FYI, the Optical cable is Audio only.

If there's no light from the optical i/o then there's no audio signal at all and explain why you have no sound. Make sure you check all the cable including the power cable that you need to connect to the card. Does your power on LED on the external i/o light up? If all power are proper and there's still no light from the optical i/o then probably you have a faulty i/o that need replace.

Mac Mini chirps - connected to home theatre

I have a Mac Mini, mid 2010, that I use as a media server and it's connected to my home theatre. It currently runs Mac OS X v10.9.5 and as long as I've had it, no matter what version of Mac OS, there's an occasional chirp. It sounds like the first note of a wolf whistle. The sound comes over the sound system and only occurs when playing iTunes Internet radio. I don't recall ever hearing it while listening to any of my own music and I have a huge collection.
I've turned off notifications for almost everything, thinking it was perhaps a notification causing the problem. Strangely, I still get notifications of what song is playing on the Internet radio station but I've not heard the chirp when I saw a notification display.
For what it's worth, I usually use my MacBook Pro to control the Mac Mini via screen sharing. Also, because of the large collection of media, I have a 3 TB hard drive connected that I designated as the location of my iTunes library.
This a quite annoying and thank heavens it doesn't happen while watching movies via iTunes directly or through my Apple TV.
I've read some threads on this site that suggested HD problems but that's highly unlikely in this case since the sound comes over my home theatre system speakers and I've absolutely no issues with the Mac Mini's operation. Since the demands aren't high for the Mac, given it's use, I don't in

I have just purchased an Apple Tv to connect to my home theatre system and LCD TV.
I can get the picture through HDMI cable (port 4) but the sound is the virgin cable TV.
I can't get my head round the configuration and which cable needs to go where!
Anyone help or is it not possible to have all 3 working

Sony HT-SS2300 Home Theatre System Problem w/Video signal on TV Monitior

My Panasonic HD/Plasma TV will not pick up the HDMI video signal coming from the home theatre system. The TV monitor picture blinks in and out. I have a Comcast HD box (Motorola) What do I need to do to fix. I had the HDMI cable from the Motorola box to the HDMI Sat In connection. I then ran a HDMI out connection from the Home Theatre system to the TV HDMI in. Is ther a work around?
I also purchased a Samsung blue ray disc player. Can I still use the HDMI connection to the Home Theatre system from the Blue Ray HDMI and the the HDMI out to the HDMI input to the TV? This is getting confusing?

Ok I feel your collective pain, really. We have apple tv 2 with optical out to amp and hdmi into the tv. My wife and I both have iPads, iPhones, Mac book pro etc. sometimes the volume control would be on apple remote (at bottom, left to right slider) and we would be punching the air saying how much we love this technology. And then.......often the volume control would disappear then we couldn't get it working at all today. I have just gone through all our devices and changed the apple user name and password to my wife's user name on iTunes.....BANG.....everything is working perfect now. We have each others iTunes and apple tv now on all remotes WITH volume control. This would explain why it was so intermittent. Try this and see if it makes a difference. Even if you have a device, say iPad, that you didn't think you would use as a remote, make sure you put in the same apple I'd and password across all devices. To change it on iPad go to settings then music or iPod on ipad1 and use the same username.

How to connect Apple TV to DVD blu-ray home theatre

Hi guys, I am planning to buy Apple TV2 and I was wondering is there setup guide for connecting to HDTV and home theatre system. I currently have LG HDTV and LG DVD Blu-ray Home Theatre. They are connected with HDMI 1.3 cable and I had to get optical cable to get sound from TV to Home theatre.
How is Apple TV fits into that? I have 1 HDMI slot free on TV and 2 HDMI inputs on DVD system.
I was thinking just to connect Apple TV to DVD via HDMI? Would that put sound on home theatre system?

You have read home theatre manual about playing sound from external device.
You doesn't need to connect home theatre to tv at all as you have get video from apple tv.
Connect video output from apple tv to tv(may carry sound along) and optical cable from apple tv to home theatre.
That will do. You can mute sound of tv(in case hdmi carry sound along) or using other function(on samsung ) and hear from home theatre sound from speakers.

Apple TV won't connect properly to Sony home theatre system using hdmi cable.

Using an HDMI cable to the port on the home theatre system I can get sound, but the picture is intermittent. It Comes on for 1second, goes of for 10 seconds.
If I connect directly to the TV using the HDMI to DVI-D cable it works, but because I am using a Fujitsu plasmavision it is a monitor only with no speakers.
Would really like to get this to work and don't understand why the video signal is intermittent from the blueray player. Other inputs into the player through the HDMI port work OK (such as a set top box).

Just installed my Vizio SoundBar with my new LG TV & Apple TV 2... The trick to get the Apple TV 2 to send audio to the Soundbar is on the Apple TV Menu under audio change it to 16 bit. Boom it works.

The only way to stream directly to your TV would be if it is an AirPlay-enabled device.
There are many AirPlay-enabled devices but I am not familiar with Sony's products. If yours do not specifically indicate AirPlay capability, then you need an AirPlay-enabled device such as an AppleTV connected to your Sony TV or Sony AVR.

Connecting Apple TV to Philips home theatre "Digital In" port

I'd like to be able to connect my Apple TV to my Philips LX3950W Home Theatre for better audio quality. The Philis user manual mentions a "Digital In" port (http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/l/lx3950w_01/lx3950w_01_dfu_eng.pdf). Can this be used with the "Optical Audio" cable from my ATV, and if so, what type of cable/adaptor do I need?

Thanks Winston. I can't check it right now but have found a different Specs sheet (http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/l/lx3950w_01/lx3950w_01_pss_aen.pdf) which calls it a "Digital coaxial in" connection. Is there an adaptor available or am I stuck with my TV audio?
