Connecting to earlier OC4J version

We just installed the new R2 of JDdeveloper. We cannot create an application connection to our existing J2EE container Version 1.0.2.2.1. Should this be the case or have we configured something wrong?
Andrea

I tested with JDeveloper 9i RC2 and it can connect to 1.0.2.2.1 successfully.
What errors are you getting while establishing the connection ?

  • JDBC Problem with Oracle 8.1.7. and OC4J  Version 2

    I use the following connection statement with Oracle 8.1.7. and JDeveloper 3 and Apache Server. It works fine.
    String user = "scott/tiger";
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:oci8:"+user+"@RDL");
    The same program does not obtain the connection with JDeveloper 9i, OC4J Version 2 and Oracle 8.1.7. I do not receive any error message, no exception is thrown.
    Please help me.

    Hi Avi,
    I had already tried the thin Diriver but after yout help I try again.
    With this thin driver, I received a SQLException which helps me.
    As usual, there were a lot of different problems. The main one was that my default configuration do not use the jdbc/lib817 main jdbc/lib. There is a classe12.jar in these libs that are apparently different.
    Finally, I obtain the connection with the "thin" driver.
    Thank you very much Avi!

  • OC4J Version Confusion - 2.0.0.0 or 9.0.2.0.0 ?????

    On my desktop PC I have JDevelop9i RC, which reports its OC4J version as Oracle9iAS (2.0.0.0) Containers for J2EE.
    On my server PC I have the developer's preview of OC4J Version 2 as downloaded from the Oracle site, which reports its version as
    Oracle9iAS (9.0.2.0.0) Containers for J2EE.
    I have been experimenting with deploying session beans as Web Services. I can register such a bean with my local SOAP server and access it, but JDev will not allow me to register with the remote SOAP server. It just doesn't give me the option in the dropdown menu, even though the SOAP connection is created and tested in JDev.
    Another problem is that I have been experimenting with accessing my EJBs using HTTP tunneling. Again, I can get this to work against my local OC4J, but when I run it against the remote one it reports that it can't find the EJB's home interface. The EJB works perfectly well without the HTTP tunneling.
    I'm very confused. I would expect the version of OC4J on the remote machine to be the latest version but the JDev one seems better ... which should I be using?

    The release 2 of Oracle9iAS is versioned as 9.0.2 so OC4J is versioned as 9.0.2. OC4J developers preview 9.0.2 is a little newer version than the embedded version in JDev (2.0.0). We will shortly come with a new and updated version of OC4J Developers preview.
    For JDeveloper 9i problems please post your questions in JDeveloper 9i forum and you will get better and faster response. Following is the link for JDev 9i forum http://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jsp?id=513211 .
    hope this helps

    I'm running FF 3.6.8. Certain websites (no apparent pattern, no secure sites) come up blank (white screen), showing "Done" on the footer. It generally happens when clicking on a link in another web page but no login or similar is involved to get to the intended site. Hi,
    From the 10.1.2 BI Beans Install Guide it says:
    OracleBI Beans supports data stored in Oracle9i Enterprise Edition or Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition. However, only particular releases and patchsets are supported:
    * Oracle9i Release 2 Enterprise Edition, as follows:
    o 9.2.0.6 for all platforms.
    o 9.2.0.5 with the latest OLAP patch for Windows-only.
    * Oracle Database 10g Release 1 Enterprise Edition with the latest OLAP patch.
    From the error message it would appear that the Database is not one of the above.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Please note that we have follwing versions of DB up and running:-
    1)Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.1.0.2.0 - Production
    With the Partitioning, OLAP and Data Mining options
    2)Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.5.0 - Production
    With the Partitioning and Real Application Clusters options
    JServer Release 9.2.0.5.0 - Production
    Pls let us know the solution to resolve this problem ASAP.
    Thanks.

    You are not using a supported version of the database. BI Beans/OLAP only support the following database versions:
    10g - 10.1.0.3 with additional OLAP patch
    9i - 9205 with additional OLAP patch
    9i - 9206
    I would suggest that you have not applied all the required database patches to your instance.
    Hope this helps

  • How can I connect my early 2008 MacBook Pro to a tv through HDMI?

    I was wondering if there is a way to connect my early 2008 MacBook Pro to a tv using an HDMI port. My MacBook Pro has a DVI output. In the past I bought a DVI to VGA adapter and connected it to a TV that had a PC input that took VGA and a 3.5mm audio cable. I was wondering if anybody has found an adapter or cable that takes a DVI and 3.5 mm audio cord and has only an HDMI cord at the other end. I have a new TV that only has HDMI inputs and would like to be able to connect my laptop to it.

    Since you have not identified exactly what MBP you have, but mention DVI, I suspect a cable such as this is what you will need.
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/380694416929?lpid=82
    Understand that 2009 MBPs and earlier do not support audio via DVI or minidisplay port.  You would have to tap the audio output port  with a cable such as this:
    http://http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=691009&Q=&is=REG&A =details
    I am not endorsing these cable specifically, these are just examples that represent what connections that are required.
    Ciao.

    Not the iPad - your computer must be running iTunes 10.7 in order to sync. It has nothing to do with iTunes on the iPad.

  • Can Web Start call earlier installed versions on client machine?

    Can Web Start invoke earlier installed versions of the
    JRE on a client machine, without invoking a download?
    I ask because I have tried to so, unsuccessfully,
    using the versions attribute of the j2se element.
    In the usenet thread 'Jar test, with 1.4 VM?',
    Usenet Message ID:
    [email protected]
    http://groups.google.com/groups?selm=1170640609.025666.236030@s48g2000cws.googlegroups.com
    (follow the Google link at the top, to the thread)
    I was attempting to confirm that a Jar file I
    was deploying, was 1.4 compatible.
    The test failed, because despite that the (1)
    user who attempted it had a working 1.4.2 install,
    the JNLP file (which declared version='1.4'),
    was prompting for a download. The user was
    not prepared to do that, understandably -
    that was exactly what I was trying to avoid
    doing, myself.
    Since then, I did further testing locally -
    trying to get a 1.5 launch when my current
    Java is 1.6 - I have a number of 1.5 versions.
    No request for '1.5', '1.5.0_08' or '1.5*' worked
    (OK - that last one was just a WAG*), every time
    I was prompted for download (which also failed,
    as an aside!).
    What am I getting wrong?
    Do I misunderstand the intent of the j2se element
    finding earlier verions? Is it only versions that
    were installed by web start?
    Is my understanding of how to use the version
    attribute, incorrect?
    * Where are the detailed instructions on the
    allowable forms of the version attribute?
    Neither the spec. nor developers guide seem
    to go into it in any detail. Some of the forms
    I have seen around the forum were (AFAIR)..
    <!-- Suggests 1.4 preferred? -->
    version="1.4 1.5+"
    <!-- Suggests 1.4 only? -->
    version="1.4"
    <!-- Suggests 1.4.2 preferred, if microversion
    13+ is found, else 1.5+? -->
    version="1.4.2_13+ 1.5+"FWIW - here is the JNLP I am currently using

    Using your tips, I was able to find the 1.5
    JRE's listed in the Java control panel
    (of an XP Pro box) and see they had no
    checkmark for 'enabled'.
    After enabling 1.5.0_08, I was successfully
    able to launch the application (OK - applet
    really) using the 1.5.0_08 JRE.
    Thanks.
    As an aside, I had to specify '1.5.0_08'
    exactly to get that JRE. This is fine for
    local testing, but sometimes it is handy
    to ask others to help test via the web,
    and it would be nice if I could make it less
    specific (e.g. '1.5', to get any installed
    and enabled JRE that is a 1.5 variant)
    Do I understand wrong? Should that work,
    to specify '1.5' and get a '1.5.0_08' JRE that
    is installed and enabled?

    There is no need for anyone to use 32-bit version anymore.
    Retail comes with both. Or you can save on just buying 64-bit System Builder disc.
