Connection allocation problem - exception thrown during allocateConnection().

I am using WebLogic 6.1 sp1. In an multithreaded environment, when there are
8 or more threads, I get the following exception-
javax.ejb.EJBException: Unable to acquire connection: ResourceAdapterExc
eption: allocateConnection could not create new or free any connections
javax.ejb.EJBException: Unable to acquire connection: ResourceAdapterException:
allocateConnection could not create new or free any connections
Is this a connection pooling issue.
Thanks.

Hi,
Its probably due to equals and hashcode methods of
ManagedConnectionFactoryImpl. Check that you have implemented them properly.
May be that helps.
Thanks

• Strutstestcase problem - exception thrown by action not being caught

Hi,
I am experiencing a problem in a test class I wrote to test part of a Struts based application. I have posted this problem on the StrutsTestCase forum but not had a response yet (it doesn't seem to be frequently visited/posted at) so thought I would try my luck here.
The action performs some back-end processing and if all successful then returns a mapping forward. If an error occurs then an Exception is thrown. The config file contains the entry for the ExceptionHandler which displays the error message on the page (i.e. it calls the same jsp page that the action was first submitted from).
This all works fine when tested through the browser. Running a successful test via CactusStrutsTestCase also works correctly. But when I try to run a test to validate the error path the test class errors and the cactus output file indicates the Exception was thrown. BUT in my test class method...
public void testFileUpload()
this.setRequestPathInfo("/mypath");
this.addRequestParameter("action", "uploadFile");
MyForm form = new MyForm();
form.setFormFile(this.getUploadFile("empty.txt"));
this.setActionForm(form);
try
this.actionPerform();
System.out.println("got here OK -----------------------");
catch (Exception e)
System.out.println("got here ERROR -----------------------" + e.getMessage());
I try to catch the Exception so I can determine whether the test passed/failed but it is never caught. Instead the test just errors and neither debug line above is printed on the console. Yet the output file indicates that at the 'this.actionPerform();' line an error was uncaught...
<testcase classname="test.MyCactusTest" name="testFileUpload" time="4.87">

• Structural Exception thrown during Automatic Import in MDM

Hello Experts,
While importing material records automatically MDM throws a structural exception. When i try importing the same exception file using Import Manager Import status=Ready for Import and the records are imported successfully.
The same Import map and properties when applied on the TEST environment also works properly for both Automatic and Manual import.
Can anyone advice a solution to this.
Thanks in advance,
Elizabeth.

Hi Jacob,
Just check your source file if any new segment occur or segment value is repeating but ideally it should not because in manual import it will work by ignoring this value where during automiz it gives an error
Also i mention in previous thread provide us MDM server log details snaps when structural exception occure along with date and time information so based on log detail we can provide suggestion
Thanks,

You have not created WebLogic domain correctly . OSM is developed using ADF framework and you need to select "Oracle JRF-11.1.1.0[Oracle_common]" & "Oracle JJRF WEbServices Asynchronous services -11.1.1.0[oracle _common]"while creating the WebLogic domain.

• JAXB: Exception thrown during Unmarshalling ! HELP !

Hi, my JAXB works fine when the input XML conforms with the schema. But sometimes the input XML contains some extra non-business related fields (populated by the client application) that are absent from my schema definitions and cannot be predicted. In such scenarios JAXB fails during unmarshalling. Is there a way round this ? I have tried Unmarshaller.setValidating( false), but still fails ! Ideally I would want the parser to ignore such fields. Do I need to write a custom EventHandler as means of a way out? Kindly suggest
Raj

I found the following in JAXB specification 1.0, Section 5.9.5
Bind wildcard schema component:
A wildcard is mapped to a simple content-property with:
● Content-property name set to the constant any. A binding schema customization could provide a more semantically meaningful contentproperty name.
● Content-property base type set to java.lang.Object by default. Wildcard content encountering during unmarshalling is supported if global XML element tags occurring in strict or lax wildcard context
are known to the instance of javax.xml.bind.JAXBContext, meaning that the schema(s) describing the element content occurring in the wildcard context is registered with the JAXBContext instance, see
Section 3.2, JAXBContext, on page 24 on how bindings are registered with a JAXBContext instance. A JAXB implementation is only required to be able to marshall and unmarshal global element content to/
from strict/lax wildcard context that is registered and valid5 according to the schema(s) registered to JAXBContext. The specification does not specify how a JAXB implementation handles element content that it does not know how to map to a Java representation.
● See content-property predicate for a wildcard.
● If the maxOccurs is greater than one, the content property is mapped
to a collection property. The default collection property is a List
property.
● These is no default value.
Does anyone know how to go about setting Content-property name & Content-property base type as the specification suggests ?

• Exception thrown while trying to connect to Primavera using Web service.

Dear all,
We are trying to connect primavera from a .net application using Web service.It is working fine with P6 V7, but while trying to connect to V.8 there is an exception thrown by SoapHeaderException.
The Contents in the Exception is like this
System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHeaderException: This class does not support SAAJ 1.1
at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.ReadResponse(SoapClientMessage message, WebResponse response, Stream responseStream, Boolean asyncCall)
at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.Invoke(String methodName, Object[] parameters)
at Primavera.AuthenticationService.AuthenticationService.Login(Login Login1) in E:\Manesh\Code\PROTOTYPES\PrimaveraAuthentrication\SampleDemo\Web References\AuthenticationService\Reference.cs:line 100
at Primavera.Form1.TestConnection(String& sErr) in E:\Manesh\Code\PROTOTYPES\PrimaveraAuthentrication\SampleDemo\Form1.cs:line 66
Here i am specifying the C# code which makes the above exception
public int TestConnection(ref string sErr)
try
AuthenticationService.AuthenticationService authService = new AuthenticationService.AuthenticationService();
try
authService.Url = Url;
authService.CookieContainer = new CookieContainer();
AuthenticationService.Login lg = new AuthenticationService.Login();
lg.UserName = LoginName;
lg.Password = Password;
lg.DatabaseInstanceId = 1;
lg.DatabaseInstanceIdSpecified = true;
AuthenticationService.LoginResponse lp = authService.Login(lg); //This line which makes the exception
cookieContainer = authService.CookieContainer;
finally
if (authService != null)
authService.Dispose();
return 1;
catch (Exception eX)
return -1;
We are looking forward for a solution
Thanks in Advance.

Hi,
I think you are trying to test the Hello world EJB example shipped with the product. As a first
step I would recomend you to go through every line of the document on deploying this application,
since, I too have experienced many errors while trying to deploy the sample applications, but on
following the documentation, I subsequently overcame all the errors and have been working with the
applications. So please follow the steps in documentation and let me know, if you still encounter any
issues.
Regards

• How to properly handle Exception thrown in a .tag file?

I've got a .jsp file that makes use of some custom tags, each defined in their own .tag file, and located in WEB-INF/tags. I'm having a lot of trouble with the scenario of cleanly dealing with an exception raised by scriptlets in either a .jsp file, and a .tag file. I'm using both Java and Tomcat 6....
Originally, I wanted to use .tag files in order to componentize common elements that were present in .jsp pages, as well as move ugly scriptlets out of .jsp pages, and isolate them in tag files with their associated page elements.
Things started getting hairy when I started exploring what happens when an exception is thrown (bought not handled) in a scriptlet in a .tag file. Basically, my app is a servlet that forwards the user to various .jsp pages based on given request parameters. The forwarding to the relevant .jsp page is done by calls to the following method:
servletContext.getRequestDispatcher("/" + pageName).forward(request, response);
Where 'pageName' is a String with the name of the .jsp I want to go to...
Calls to this method are enclosed in a try block, as it throws both a ServletException, and IOException...
When either my .jsp, or .tag throw an exception in a scriptlet, the exception is wrapped in a JSPException, which is then wrapped in a ServletException.
I can catch this exception in my servlet... but then what? I want to forward to an error page, however, in the catch block, I can't forward in response to this exception, as that results in an IllegalStateException, as the response has already been committed. So what do I do? How do I get from this point, to my "error.jsp" page?
It was suggested to me that I use the <% @ page isErrorPage="true" %> directive in my error.jsp,
and the in my real .jsp, use <%page errorPage="/error.jsp" %>.
This works great when the exception is thrown in my .jsp.... But when the exception is thrown in the .tag file... not so much...
My .jsp page was rendered up until the point where the <my:mytag/> (the tag with the offending raised exception) was encountered. Then, instead of forwarding to the error page when the error in the tag is encountered, the error page is rendered as the CONTENT of of my TAG. The rest of the .jsp is then NEVER rendered. I checked the page source, and there is no markup from the original .jsp that lay below the my tag. So this doesn't work at all. I don't want to render the error page WITHIN the half of the .jsp that did render... Why doesn't it take me away from the .jsp with the offending tag altogether and bring me to the error.jsp?
Then it was suggested to me that I get rid of those page directives, and instead define error handling in the web.xml using the following construct:
<error-page>
<exception-type>java.lang.Exception</exception-type>
<location>/error</location>
</error-page>
<error-page>
<error-code>404</error-code>
<location>/error</location>
</error-page>
For this, I created a new servlet called ErrorServlet, and mapped it to /error
Now I could mangle the end of the URL, which causes a 404, and I get redirected to the ErrorServlet. Yay.
However, exceptions being thrown in either a .jsp or .tag still don't direct me to the ErrorServlet. Apparently this error handling mechanism doesn't work for .jsp pages reached via servletContext.getRequestDispatcher("/" + pageName).forward(request, response) ????
So I'm just at a total loss now. I know the short answer is "don't throw exceptions in a .jsp or .tag" but frankly, that seems a pretty weak answer that doesn't really address my problem... I mean, it would really be nice to have some kind of exception handler for runtime exceptions thrown in a scriptlet in .tag file, that allows me to forward to a page with detailed stacktrace output, etc, if anything for debugging purposes during development...
If anyone has a few cents to spare on this, I'd be ever so grateful..
Thanks!!
Jeff

What causes the exception?
What sort of exception are you raising from the tag files?
Have you got an example of a tag file that you can share, and a jsp that invokes it so people can duplicate the issue without thinking too much / spending too much time?
My first instinct would be that the buffer is being flushed, and response committed before your Exception is raised.
What you describe is pretty much standard functionality for Tomcat in such cases.

Carol,
The file is not being read by the programmer.
The problem seems to be coming when the code tries to return from an ejb call A hashtable is returned while coming back. In this hashtable, the data is present in the form of XML DOM Object(oracle implmentation, because oracle xml development kit is used). I think this exception is coming when EJB tries to serialise the object to send it back.
So, this exception is compeletely stemming from internal classes of Oracle
The code is part of a web project.

• Sun J2EE SDK 1.3_01, java.lang.ClassCastException thrown during deployment

I encountered a bug while using the deploytool to deploy
an EAR file to the Sun J2EE 1.3_01 server.
I submitted a bug report to Sun via the Sun Java Developer Connection.
(Sorry, it has not been assigned a BugID yet)
Question:
Does anybody know if the web container in Sun's
J2EE 1.3_01 server supports access to local enterprise beans?
Screenshots of the bug are available at
http://sync4j.sourceforge.net/deploymentbug/
Full details below....
-Sean
category: j2ee
subcategory: deployment
release: 1.3_01
hardware: x86
OSversion: windows_2000
synopsis: java.lang.ClassCastException thrown during deployment of Session bean
java -version
java version "1.3.1_01"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.3.1_01)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.3.1_01, mixed mode)
C:\j2sdkee1.3\bin>j2ee -version
Java 2 Enterprise Edition version 1.3_01, build 1.3_01-b01
I built a EJB 2.0 compliant stateful session bean.
The session bean has a remote interface (ISyncRemote),
a remote home interface (ISyncHomeRemote),
a local interface (ISyncLocal),
and a local home interface (ISyncHomeLocal).
I built an HTTP Servlet that is supposed to access
the Stateful Session Bean using ISyncHomeLocal and
ISyncLocal
I run "deploytool.bat" in GUI mode to perform the deployment.
During deployment, the deploytool GUI displays a message
box which states:
"There was a deployment error.
java.rmi.ServerException: RemoteException occurred in server thread;
nested exception is:
java.rmi.RemoteException: An error was encountered while loading
a web component.
Please refer to
<J2EE_HOME>/logs/<machine-name>/j2ee//j2ee/error.log
for more information. Please verify your Application with the
Verifier tool."
The "error.log" file did not contain any useful information.
I ran the J2EE "verifier.bat" tool to verify that my EAR archive is OK.
The Sun J2EE server output this error string:
"java.lang.ClassCastException:
com.sun.enterprise.deployment.EjbExternalDescriptor"
Here is the full output from the Sun J2EE server:

Does the Sun J2EE server implementation support the invocation
of Session EJB's via a Local interface?
Does the Sun J2EE server implementation allow a Servlet to invoke
Session EJB's via the bean's Local interface?
While researching this issue, I read the J2EE 1.3 final specification.
The spec says:
"The EJB container is required to access to local enterprise beans.
We recommend that the web container also support access to local
enterprise beans."
Does the web container in Sun's J2EE server support access to local enterprise beans?

I'm pretty much sure that you cannot access a
local Session bean from outside the EJB container.Please read the J2EE 1.3 specification before posting messages about EJB and J2EE.
According to the J2EE 1.3 specification:
"The EJB container is required to support access to local enterprise beans. We recommend that the web container also support access to local enterprise beans.
No support is provided for access to local enterprise beans from the application client container or the applet container."
If you use local interfaces for your session bean,
than your client must be local too. A local client is
a client that is collocated in the same JVM with the
session/entity that provides the local view and which
can be tightly coupled to the bean.My client is running in the same JVM as my EJB. The client is a servlet. The servlet is running in the same JVM as the EJB.
For what its worth, the error that I observed occurs during deployment. I haven't figured out why deployment is failing.
