Connection error using import java.sql.*;

I have a very strange error. See the code below:
import java.sql.*;
import java.lang.*;
class a7 {
public static void main(String args[]) {
String kolom,ko = new String();
String db = "devarbn1";
String url = "jdbc:odbc:"+db;
String login = "arbor";
String password = "arbor123";
String driver = "sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver";
String BasisQuery = "select COLUMN_NAME " +
" from all_tab_columns " +
" where table_name = ? ";
System.out.println("Database: " + db);
Connection con;
try {
Class.forName(driver);
} catch (java.lang.ClassNotFoundException e) {
System.err.print("ClassNotFoundException: ");
System.err.println(e.getMessage());
try {
con = DriverManager.getConnection(url,login,password); //this line gives an error!!!
and so on.....
This is a fragment of the whole program. All of a sudden I cannot compile it anymore using jdk1.3 or jdk 1.4 (I never had compiling problems before with this program)
It gives the following error message: incompatible types, found Connection.
I haven't got a clue what went wrong. I have a lot of other java files in which a connection is involved. I cannot compile any of them anymore. Even reinstalling jdk1.4 or 1.3 doesn't help. Can anyone please help me?
Thanx, debeumers

Yes, the whole message is:

} catch (java.lang.ClassNotFoundException ex) {

System.err.println(ex.getMessage());

    Can someone help me on this please?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Could you please make sure your binding style(Oracle Positional,Oracle named..etc) of the Seeded VO and Custom Vo are same.
    This is the option you will get when you are extending your vo. So make sure that both are same.
    You can refer the below link too
    VO extension leads to "Invalid column index" exception

    Hi friends...
    I've read the last post...
    The problem that I have is as follow....
    1. I have installed on my machine MySQL 5.0 Server running
    1.1 I have a database called "base1"
    1.2 User "root", password "works"
    1.3 I have the following sentence to connect it using JDBC
    Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost/base1", "root", "works");
    More notes:
    - I use the JDBC 5.0
    - My Machine is a Windows XP SP2 Pentium 3.0 512Mb
    and it connects
    but I have this environment to develop applications, now that I want to connect to Production Environment happens the following:
    2 The Production database is mounted on a Linux Server with MySQL 3.2.
    2.1 I change the sentences as follow:
    Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://192.168.0.7/base1", "user", "password");
    2.3 But a message appears when I run the Java Program:
    java.sql.SQLException:Access denied for user: '[email protected]' (Using password: YES)
    2.4 As you can see it changes the IP Address...
    More notes:- I have the MySQL Query Browser and I got connection.
    - The IP that display the Error Message is my Second IP configurated on my Network Properties.
    - Server is a Pentium 4 3.0 GHz 2Gb Linux Red Hat 3.0
    I leave this case for the spider... I hope that somebady has the solution.
    What is the problem? Why the JDBC doesn't respect the IP that I wrote.

                 + "WHERE userName=?", readOnly=false, connected=false,
                 tableName ="Users")
        DataSet<User> getUserByName(String userName);
    }But I get the error in the import statement itlself. It is not able to import these classe-
    import java.sql.BaseQuery;
    import java.sql.DataSet;
    import java.sql.Select;
    Are they shipped with JDK 6?
    thnx
    Sanjeev.

    Because those classes don't exist. A simple, and very quick, perusal of the API docs would have told you this.

  • Import java.sql.*

    I am trying to create and application that connects to a database (MySQL) to do some queries. I put this
    import java.sql.*;

    Can anyone shed some light on this for me? :)

    My other guess is a typo, perhaps with an invisible/hard-to-see character. Delete the line and type it in, again.

  • Error IllegalArgumentException in java.sql.Date used PreparedStatement

    I'm found bug (probably). I have a table with column DATA type. Now I connect do database use JDBC in Java, and create PreparedStatement:
    PreparedStatement stmt = conn.prepareStatement("insert into \"Appuser\" (\"IDUser\", \"createAccountDate\") values (?,?)");
    Column createAccountDate is a DATA type. And now I invoke:
    stmt.setInt(1, 1);
    stmt.setInt(2, new java.sql.Date(-2508265596206959779));
    stmt.execute();
    and last line return exception:
    java.lang.IllegalArgumentException

    at oracle.jdbc.driver.DateCommonBinder.zoneOffset(OraclePreparedStatement.java:15423)

    at // line stmt.execute();
    Another values of Data are OK. Probably value -2508265596206959779 cause that error.
    It's a bug? Better will be SQLException if it is a bug.
    My configuration:
    Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Product
    PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
    CORE     10.2.0.1.0     Production
    TNS for 32-bit Windows: Version 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
    Windows XP SP3, Java 1.6.0_20,
    ojdbc14.jar, Oracle JDBC Driver version - "10.2.0.1.0XE

    Probably value -2508265596206959779 cause that errorMaybe, whatever that .date( -ReallyLotsOfmSec ) date values is, pretty sure its outside the valid values for a date column, 4712BC to 9999AD is the min/max.
    Perhaps the java code can handle it, an oracle date type can not.

  • ODI 10.1.3.4.0 - Topology Manager Connection Error using SQL 2005 SP3

    Hello All,
    I am using the ODI repository in SQL 2005 SP3. I could create my master repository using the following parameters:
    driver: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
    URL:jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://server_name:1433;SelectMethod=direct;DataBaseName=ODI
    I needed to copy to the drivers directory all files of SQL 2000 (msutil.jar, msbase.jar,mssqlserver.jar) and SQL 2005 (sqljdbc.jar). I am using the JRE 1.4.2 and JDBC 2005 1.2 (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms378422(SQL.90).aspx)
    But when I try to connect in Topology Manager to create the work repository appears the following error:
    using this driver string: com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
    java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC] Can't start a cloned connection while in manual transaction mode.
    using this driver string: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
    java.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver
    Does Somebody know what is happening?
    Regards,
    Wallace Galvao
    Sao Paulo - Brazil

    Hi,
    If you plan on using the SQL Server 2005 drivers then you only need the 1.2 sqljdbc.jar file in the drivers directory.
    The connection details for SQL Server 2005 should be like the following.
    com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
    jdbc:sqlserver://<sqls machine>:1433;databaseName=<db name>;integratedSecurity=false
    I would try just with just the correct driver in place, remove the others, restart any ODI components and then make sure the connection information is correct like above.
    Cheers

    The SAPINST should allow the physical host name to get chosen you should not get this error.
    You have to first install the oracle DB and after that Oracle failsafe at both nodes ( not in parallel) . Further while doing the DB instance installation on first node the SAPCLUSTER and ORACLECLUSTER should be online.
    Can you mark the steps you did in sequence.

    If not, make sure you add C:\DevSuiteHome_1\jdev\lib\jdev.jar to FORMS_BUILDER_CLASSPATH in registry
    Also excetion indicates: oracle/jdeveloper/webservices/runtime/WrappedDocLiteralStub
    If you typing it - type: oracle.jdeveloper.webservices.runtime.WrappedDocLiteralStub
