Connection Pooling in Portal?..Can we do that?

Hi to all.
Not sure if this the correct forum to ask, but maybe anybody have any ideas..
We have a problem.
We are using Oracle Portal R2 9.0.2.0.1.
The case is, we found out that the most of the database connection we create while using JSP Portlet, didn't closed...
and the result, maybe it makes our Portal performance slow..
So, we have to use Connection Pooling in the Portal.
How can we do that, and can we do that in Oracle Portal?
Thanks.

If you created the connections you should explicitly close them also.
Are you doing that ?

How can we implement Connection Pooling in Portal..

    Can anybody help?

    Hi there
If you choosen webcache while installation then it will in installed for you.
You can varify it via 9iAS Oracle Enterprise Manager.
If not install it and configure it.

  • My G5 mac recognizes only 746 GB of an external 3TB drive connected by USB? Can I fix that? How?

I just purchased a WD 3.0 TB drive. I've placed in the second bay of my G5 tower (running 10.5.8). I've also tried it in an external enclosure connected by USB. In both cases my Mac recognizes only 746 GB of the drive. Can I fix that? How?
    Thanks.

    Hi Kenny,
It's using the new "Advanced Format"...
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Format
WD says this about their Advanced Format disks on OS X:
Mac OSX version 10.4 onwards (Tiger, Leopard and Snow Leopard) can use the GUID Partitioning Table scheme (GPT) which will align an Advanced Format drive correctly. Mac OS versions using Apple Partition Manager (APM) will not align partitions correctly and will not provide optimum performance.
    http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/5558/can-i-use-an-advanced-format-drive -in-a-late-2010-13-macbook-pro
You can only use it as a DAT Drive after GUID partitioning, you can read it but G5s cannot boot from GUID.

My daughters iTunes are somehow connected to my iTunes. Every time I add music to my library it combines the both of them and it will only let me add or update my music on one computer. How can I change this?

His Apple ID shows up because it is his software. He bought it and his Apple ID is encoded in the software, in it's DNA. Only your son's Apple ID can update or redownload the software. The only way to change it is to delete the software and buy it with your Apple ID.

  • How to Create a connection pool in OSB java callout

    Dear Team,
In our project, we need read some data from DB, and do corresponding operation. currently, we need setup the connection first, execute the SQL, and close the connection.
But the concurrency of call is very high, is there a way to create a connection pool, then we can use the connection pool to get the connection and execute the SQL, then return the connection to the pool.
if connection pool is not available, is there any way to create the connection outside the java callout, that we can just execute the SQL in java callout.
    The OSB version is 11.1.1.6.0
    Thanks.

    Hi Team,
    Thanks for your help.
What I need is not only the db connection, may be other kind of things, such as read configuration from file...
If I write the code in java callout with static java method to create and close the connection, each time when request come in, OSB will create a new connection (or read the file), I think it's not the best practice to do this kind of work.
I think the weblogic is running in JVM, is there any way we can define variables or new object in the JVM directly?

  • Jolt client vs. jolt connection pooling

We are porting our app to weblogic. We are current users of jolt but since we weren't
    using weblogic
we are currently using jolt client out of the app server. We are examining the merits
    of converting to use
    the jolt connection pool.
I have been told that jolt client is multi-threaded so the question is: if we convert
    to jolt connection pooling
will we see a performance improvement, and if so, why? Or is the advantage purely
    from an administrative
standpoint, and if so, what are the advantages there?

Connections are resources that the application uses and a fewer connections can be used by multiple threads if the threads are not always busy with the database activity only, and are doing other work too. This sharing (pooling) can be implemented by the application or the application can leverage the connection pooling features offered by OCI/OCCI (recommended).
Be aware of connections vs sessions and sharing them (refer to :
    OCI Programming Advanced Topics
OCCIConnectionPool is to pool connections and OCCIStatelessConnectionPool is to pool sessions. Please see the differences in the above link and apply as appropriate.

  • [Fwd: Re: rdbms realm and connection pool]

    Hi,
One reason why I would like to use the connection pool for the RDBMS
realm is because there is the retry machanism built into the connection
pool. With this retry, I don't need to re-start WebLogic if the DB
server is somehow re-started. With the current implementation, all the
connections maintained by the realm will become invalid if the DB server
    has been restarted independently.

I believe not- the realm restricts access to connection pools to those
    who
are allowed it, so if the realm needs the connection pool to start up,
    and
you can't open the connection pool without the realm then you have a bit
    of
a no-chicken and no-egg situation, which is I believe one of the reasons
    why
there is no use of connection pools, ejbs, jndi, servlets etc. in the
    realm
(along with other reasons, like why would it be provided with a servlet)
The delegate pool acts somewhat similarly to a connection pool, and can
    even
use the same database, so I'm not sure what the advantage would be

  • Do I really need two connection pools when using two durable subscriptions?

I have a Spring daemon which takes messages from two different topics and stores them in a database.
What irritates me is that I can't get it to work with a single connection pool. I get a message that I can't create durable subscriptions without a unique client id on the connection. It's not enough that the client id be set on the listener container, I have to set it on the underlying ConnectionFactory. I though this was some kind of glitch with openMQ but activeMQ gives me exactly the same behaviour.

Thank you all for your replies.
Yesterday, I went back to BestBuy and returned the Gigabit Ethernet Switch and exchanged it for a Belkin Share Max N300 router.  I chose this one because I want to use the router in WIRED mode and this had a 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet capability.  Most other routers that I looked at only had 10/100Mbps.  I also liked that it had two USB ports.
I had to call Belkin tech support because the installer from the included CD would not install the software.  Nor would the installer that I downloaded from their web site.  I ended up actually having to be taken to the IP address' web site and from there I was able to configure everything.
Although it took me a few hours to get all my other wireless devices onto my wireless network (I have a couple of Airport Express(es) for running "Airplay," and a wifi dongle on my TV), things now seem to be working fine.

When are you creating and closing the connection? What is the size of connection pool? You can increase the pool size by clicking on the JDBC resource on admin console. Then click on connection pool.
Then click on the <connection pool name>. You can set the steady pool size and the max pool size. Please make sure that you are creating and closing connection at right time. You can look at the server log for more details.
    Thanks,

  • Connection Pool with Variables

Hi i am a newbie to Obiee and i want to know how to import tables into a connection pool with variables in place of Data Source Name: valueof(DSN_DM) username:value of(DSN_DM_USER)
like that i want to import my new tables into this connection pool how i can do that. i tried importing but it is coming as a new subject area.
    Can any Body help me
    Thanks

    Hi copter,
Firstly you imported some tables and again as adding tables your are using variable in connection pool and importing tables then it takes as a new subject area only.....Instead use this variable connection pool to import all tables from scratch and then work on it.This would do.
Either if it is a seperate subject area pull the columns needed from both the subject areas and work on it.Before doing that you need to establish joins between the subject area tables.

  • Weblogic 9.2 - Problem with Connection Pool not releasing resources

We have a third party application that is running Weblogic 9.2 and has a connection pool to a SQL 2005 db for queries within it's batch process. What I have noticed is that it does not seem to be releasing SQL cpu back after the batch and this is causing issues with processes for other dB's within the instance. Has anyone encountered this issue and if so what is the solution (short of isolating it within it's own instance). Can the connection be reset to release resources?

Yes it is a weblogic connection pool. What I mean is that when a batch run I can see the CPU for the SQL process associated with the connection increase but when the batch is completed the CPU remains high when I would expect it to move back down to an 'idle' level as after that as all it would be doing is the occasional "select 1' ping to keep the connection active.
What i do see is that the cpu in activity monitor shows high cpu and it never goes down unless the connection is killed and re-established. As this is a shared instance other apps are complaining of slow running procs.

  • How to access database from applet using connection pooling.

    Hi,
I am using tomcat 4.1, JRE 1.4.2_10, MySQL 5.0, and IE 6.0. I can access the database using connection pooling from JSP without problems. But, if I try to acess from the applet, I get the following exception (related to JNDI.):

I know what this acception means, but I don't know how to fix it. I set up connection pooling in my Tomcat 4.1 that talks to MySQL 5.0. As I said, when I access from jsp, JNDI works. But, applet complains. Please help. In my applet, the following code accesses the database:

    props.setProperty("java.naming.provider.url", "url:1099");

Could any one help me following in questions.
1> Since there is 30 request at time so for improve the performance and resources I need to do connection pooling.
How can I achieve this using base classes.
2> While retrieving (getting) the message for particular request how can I identify the response message.
i.e. when client#1 request data from queue he must get data related to client#1 only not other than client#1.
because In above scenario there are separate queues for getting the message and putting the message.
I have read the tutorial on connection pulling but I am little confused.
i.e. default connection pool and MQSimpleConnectionManager.
    Thanking in Advance

Well my advice would be something different here..
Can you tell us whether the swing application that you are referring could be used by multiple client machines at the sametime ??
If yes my advice for you would be a costly affair yet effective.
Think of seperating your DAO layer from the swing client and you can make an attempt to make a centralized tier where DAO and business services are handled (also ensure that we you use connection pooling with a good tranaction support for building that tier).
Think of publishing those as services either by using remoting tehnologies like RMI,Burlap, Hessian or as a Webservice.
All you'd do is implementing respective client in the swing or client application which you are referring to..
(if you things are too wierd and what is the best solution to go about the below url offers a good solution
    [http://tuscany.apache.org/]
And in doing this you'd ensure there is not toomuch load on the Database and you'd have a centralized location where you can start tracing the problem. My guess would be that since the OP said that they have a server that they do in fact have a server.

  • Connection pools

    Hi,
We are having around 25 tables from one data source. We have around 8 subject areas. My question is can we have as many connection pools as we can. I mean if I bring couple of subject areas in one connection pool and feel that if I bring in the third the physical layer joins would be confusing, can open another connection pool to bring in tabels for subject area 3,4 and continue. Do we have to have one connection pool for all subject area if they are coming from one source. Few tables are thier in almost all Subject areas. Is it advicable to use multiple connection pools from one source. Please advce.

Thanks for your help Saichand. I was aware that we could do in BMM but physical I just came to know. Also I had to use one table for two diff subject areas. So i created an alias for of that table. I took this alias and created the physical joins, complex joins in BMM for a subjet area and it ran without errrors. When I went into presenation layer and tried to build a report it was erroring out saying table does not exist. It is looking for the alias table name and says no table found in DB. We cant keep the alias table also with the same name in Physical .. right? How do I resolve this alias table issue? this was the reason I asked about the connection pool question.
