JDBC.
how can i do it in MS Access

Yo don't need to create two connections to access two tables.
Single Database connection is enough.
Try the following pseudo code to access two tables
1. get Database Connection
2. create statement with query that is for table 1
3.execute it and close the statement .
4. again create the statement with query that is for table 2
5. execute it and close the statement .
6. close the connection.
hope it will clear you,

  • Unable to copy table in same Database

    I m using jdbc:odbc bridge to connect to MS access database. i am trying to create a table by copying data from another table in same database. the code is
    Statement stmt = mycon.createStatement();
    String query = "create table " + temp1 + " as select * from " + temp2;
    stmt.executeUpdate(query);
    But java is throwing exception as:
    java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Acces Driver] Syntax error in
    CREATE TABLE statement.
    Simple create and select are working fine. Is there something like MS Access doesnt support such queries?
    Thanx for help
    Viney

    Hi Viney_yadav,
    First a general suggestion: The error message you got states that is a SQL syntax error. This tells you that you should try running the SQL that is failing directly through Access and correct the syntax problem there. That will help you verify the SQL syntax and avoid any complications related to Java.
    And now some specific help (cut/paste from a previous life): Different DBMS's handle the SELECT INTO... differently. SELECT INTO... in Microsoft Access actually creates a new table. If the table already exists (in Access) then you would use the INSERT INTO..SELECT... statement.
    EXAMPLE to create and populate a new table in Access (sorry didn't test this):
    select temp2.* into temp1 from temp2

  • DB Connect: No tables in the database system

    I have a DB connect into a SQL database, the database link is working correctly and I can extract data from previously created datasources.
    I am having problems adding new datasources for other DB tables.
    The system keeps reporting There is no table in database system.
    I also have the same issue if I create new copies of the datasources which already work.
    Has anybody had similar problems and how did they solve?
    Many thanks,
    Matt

    Hello Matt,
    The problem may be in the DataSource, so try to generate the Datasource again and replicate to BW and then try.

  • DB Adapters inserting data into 2 diff tables of same database giving issue

    Hello,
    I am using Oracle soa suite 11g BPEL.
    I need to insert data in 4 different tables of same Oracle database with the requirement of rollback all data if error occurs anywhere.
    I have configured the DB adapater as XA enabled on console .
    In code:-
    I am using 2 DBAdapters to insert data one by one in 2 diff tables of same DB (using INSERT ONLY operations). Before each invoke activity i am using a transformation activity to prepare the input variable of the DBAdapter.
    When i run this code i get below error:-
    Exception occured when binding was invoked. Exception occured during invocation of JCA binding: "JCA Binding execute of Reference operation 'insert' failed due to: DBWriteInteractionSpec Execute Failed Exception. insert failed. Descriptor name: [DBINS_DIANA.XxontPoiHdrsIface]. Caused by java.sql.BatchUpdateException: ORA-02049: timeout: distributed transaction waiting for lock . ". The invoked JCA adapter raised a resource exception. Please examine the above error message carefully to determine a resolution. </summary>
    If i use a wait activity between the 2 invokes i get the data inserted fine , but that means the transactions between inserts would be committed which i want to be rollback fully in case of any errors.
    Can anyone have a clue what is wrong here?
    Thanks

  • Multiple OLE DB connection managers to the same database instance in a SSIS package

    Hi,
    While migrating DTS package to SSIS package, I came across one which had multiple OLE DB connection managers all connecting to the same Oracle schema in the same instance.
    There are that many execute SQL task corresponding to each of these connection managers.
    Each of  these SQL task call different Oracle stored procedures and executes them in the same schema in the same instance.
    My question is, is there any particular reason or advantage in having multiple connection managers?
    Can't we have one single connection manager and use the same in all of these SQL tasks?
    Does multiple connection managers provide any added advantage like parallelism or something?
    In this particular case, there are no actual workflows, rather each of these SQL tasks are stand alones. But there are other packages which has SQL tasks in workflow but still each of them calling separate connection managers all calling the same schema
    in the same instance.
    Thanks for your time.
    Cordially, Biju George

    Well like I said, each of  these SQL task calls "different" Oracle stored procedures even though executes them in the same schema in the same instance. I tried a sample testing by creating two separate packages, one with only one single
    OLE DB connection referred in all of the SQL tasks and in the other one with mutiple OLE DB connections to the same schema in the same instance each of which is referred in each of the SQL task in one to one mapping.
    Now the first one created one session in Oracle but the later created as many sessions as there where OLE DB connection managers. The first one took longer to complete than the second one since second one created independent sessions and executed those procedures
    sort of parallely.
    I guess that can be called an advantage of creating multiple connection managers to the same schema in the same instance.

  • Updatable Materialized View and Master Table on same database

    Hi all,
    My first question - Is it possible to have an Updatable Materialized View and the associated Master Table located on the same database?
    This is the requirement scenario:
    One unique database D exists.
    A is a batch table. Only inserts are allowed on Table A.
    M is an updatable materialized view on Table A (Master). Only updates are allowed on M (no insert or delete).
    Requirement is to push updates/changes from M to A periodically and then get the new inserted records from A into M via a refresh.
    Is this possible? What other approaches are applicable here?

    John,
    My question is related to the implementation and setup of the environment as explained in the above example. How can I achieve this considering that I have created an updatable m-view?
    If possible, how do I push changes made to an updatable m-view back to it's master table when/before I execute DBMS_MVIEW.REFRESH on the m-view? What is the procedure to do this if both table and mview exist on the same database? Do I need to create master groups, materialized view refresh groups, etc.?
    One more thing.. Is there a way to retain changes to the m-view during refresh? In this case, only newly inserted/updated records in the associated table would get inserted into m-view. Whereas changes made to m-view records would stay as-is.
    Hope my question is directed well. Thanks for your help.

  • Insert records from user form to multiple tables in same database

    Hi Experts, I need your help. I have a form that has multiple text fields that I need to insert the records to their each respective table. For example: The first name field needs to go the the name table, address goes to a seperate table, phone goes to a seperate table and so on.
    Is this possible to do?
    Thanks Much
    Sham

    The same for ASP, JSP or PHP.  Just the code syntax is different for each language.  Are you using MySQL, Access or ?
    In any case, create the three recordsets on the database and use insert queries.  If you don't know what one is, google insert query and you will see the syntax.
    Here is a good example out on the web
    http://www.stardeveloper.com/articles/display.html?article=2000032601&page=1
    In your case you would get the values for the inserts from the form data and only need to open the database connection once.
    Good luck.

  • Connection with MS -SQL server Database

    Hi Experts,
    We are new with Oracle SES.
    We have created one table in MS SQL server 2005 in testing database called as Northwind, table is EMPdate with adding required column name as "URL","KEY","CONTENT","LASTMODIFIEDDATE","LANG".
    Now we create database source in Oracle SES by giving following things
    Database Connecting String: jdbc:sqlserver//<Loaclhost>:1433;databasename=Northwind
    UserId:
    Password:
    Query: Select URL,KEY,CONTENT,LASTMODIFIEDDATE,LANG,'text/html' CONTENTTYPE from EMPdate
    path separator: #
    Document Count : -1
    Parse Attributes :false
    And create Source & when we run schedule on this datadase source we got error that "invalid SQL command"
    Please can you provide sequence of steps to create MS SQL Server database source & generate the statistics.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Thanks for the response.
    Running the Schedule for Stats collection -- I mean,the Schedule step whcih could be the immediate step just after database source creation
    The Crawl of the SQL Server not succeeded is Crawl Error
    which is located in C:\oracle\product\10.1.8\oradata\ses2\log direcory.
    We succeded with Web,ORACLE TABLE and FILE system sources as they were documented in the manual.
    Please Suggest all the steps to configure SQL server as Source
    Thanks in Advanace

  • How to manipulate data over two tables in same database.

    hi, i am not a profficient java programmer, i was trying to copy filtered data from one table to another table.
    i was trying to use
    public static Connection getConnection() throws Exception {
         Driver d = (Driver)Class.forName
             ("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver").newInstance();
         Connection c = DriverManager.getConnection
             ("jdbc:odbc:Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};DBQ=stuff.mdb");
         return c;
    and then
        theConn = myConnection.getConnection();
          ResultSet rs;
          Statement stmt;
          String sql;
          stmt = theConn.createStatement();
          sql =  "SELECT * FROM shisab, myhisab WHERE shisab.Who_Bought ='ron'";
               rs = stmt.executeQuery(sql);
               while (rs.next()) {
                System.out.println("date:"+rs.getString("shisab.Date"));
          rs.close();--------------------------------------
    it does not show anything! in the output! i tried many things but i thing it is not supporting my multiple table syntax , i.e.: table1,table2 in teh from clause.
    please help!
    i just need to filter stuff from the shisab table and write the filtered data into
    the myhisab table.

    Your problem isn't in the Java code, it's your SQL code...
    Your statement, as submitted, is an improperly formed multi-table select, where you never joined the second table. That won't work.
    You need to look into the INSERT INTO statement. The exact syntax of your statement will depend on whether or not both tables contain the exact same column names, etc. A generic example based on what you have might look like:
    INSERT INTO myhisab SELECT * FROM shisab WHERE Who_Bought = 'ron'HTH

  • How to design universe with tables from two databases using a db link?

    I am building a universe (v3.1) that has tables from two different oracle db instances.  My dba created synonyms for me and there is a database link in place.  I don't know how to get this working in Designer.  I can see the views under my ID when I browse to insert a table, but there is no structure.  I think I have to create a new strategy.  I attempted to do that, but the directions aren't very clear to me, and it isn't working.  Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!!

    i've been working with DB links much before, but this was since long time ago before i join the Business Intelligence field
    from my understanding that you Have link from DB1 to DB2
    and from your user in DB1 you can access tables and view from DB2
    if you are using your user to create a universe im not sure if you can use tables from DB2 or not
    and you dont see the tables of the link in the Universe
    but you can try to create a drived table selecting from any tables from DB2
    for example
    select id,name from user.table2@mylink
    check this way and give me your feedback
    good luck

  • Dealing with tables from different databases?

    Hi. I'm a newbie to Visual Studio 2012 and stuck on how to interact with different datasets.
    I am building a report that is associated with with two tables, each from a different database. The
    master_flat table with the primary key matter_number is from the first database and it contains all the columns I need that should show up in the report layout I've built. However,
    billing_table with the primary key matter_number contains a flag that I go by which I must use to determine whether each matter should come through in the reporting or not.
    I've set the master_flat as dataset1 and the billing_table as dataset2. Now, what is the best way in Visual studio 2012 to filter by the matters that has flag "N" in dataset2?
    Thanks

    We are way out of sync.  Lets synchronize.  I'm not sure which question you are refering to.  Is it the "C# or VBnet"  question or is it the "One or two database Question".  It seem like it would be the database question since you
    should know which programming language you are using.
    Open SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).  After login, there is an explorer where you can browse the databases, tables, and fields in the tables.  You should be able to view how you build the database.  If you right click any tables and then
    "Script Table As : Select To : New Query Editor Window".  There is an execute button to run the query.  You can aslo edit the query.  I usually test all my qeuries in SSMS before actually using them in an application.  I would get a JOIN
    SQL working in SSMS.
    If you let me know if you are using VBnet or C# I will write a simple LINQ.  Even better if you supply me the names of the columns of the two tables.

    Hi Steve,
    Test by creating  one more function ConfigureCrystalReport1() and pass the details for database 2.
    I am not sure there is any sample for this however you can have a look to samples [here|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/samples]
