Console error

Just got a new iMac and finally upgraded to Leopard. I keep getting the following error in console....
3/31/09 5:20:09 PM com.apple.launchd[1] (com.app4mac.CheckUpAgent) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
3/31/09 5:20:19 PM com.apple.launchd[1] (com.app4mac.CheckUpAgent[291]) posix_spawn("/Applications/CheckUp.app/Contents/MacOS/CheckUpAgent", ...): No such file or directory
3/31/09 5:20:19 PM com.apple.launchd[1] (com.app4mac.CheckUpAgent[291]) Exited with exit code: 1
I migrated from a iMac G4/800mhz/Tiger to this new one.
It keep repeating over and over.

Hi--
Instructions for uninstalling CheckUp are available on their web site.
Pay special attention to step 1, where they have you look for a file called "com.app4mac.CheckUpAgent" and delete it. That should fix your problem, it looks like that file got transferred over, but maybe the application it's pointing to didn't.

  • ICal Syncs From Exchange, but not To Exchange -- funky Console error.

I'm the IT guy troubleshooting a user's MacBook Pro 15" (not unibody) with Snow Leopard. The Mac users in my company have been having near-constant trouble with their email and calendars almost since the day they switched, first with Exchange 2003/Entourage and now with Exchange 2007/Snow Leopard (guess how I feel about those "Enterprise Ready" ads!) -- random show-stopping issues like this have plagued them and I delete and resync something almost weekly. (By comparison, the hundreds of Outlook users on my server have never needed to delete and resync. Blackberry users occasionally, iPhone/WinMo users almost never.)
Calendar items in iCal don't get synced up to my Exchange 2007 server, however creating an item in Outlook Web Access (i.e. directly on the server) get synced down to iCal just fine. I've tried refreshing, etc.
In Console, there are repeated error messages saying "save failed" ... "Items cannot be deleted from alarms." Unfortunately it seems I'm the first person known to Google to have this error (yay!) hence the post here. Your advice in resolving the issue is appreciated because I'd rather not wipe his iCal and resync from Exchange, given that an unknown number of appointments haven't yet synced up to the server and thus data would be lost.
Below is the full error message from Console, which repeats once every minute. The only differences between errors are the UserInfo which appears to increment. The appointment in question, "Call Adam Hird" from 9:00 to 9:15 on 11/19/09, looks fine in iCal except that it appears to have been renamed "Call with Adam Hird" with a location (a 10-digit phone number with hyphens) added (which iCal might not like, since the appointment name is just followed by a long dash "--" and nothing. Removing this doesn't appear to solve anything.) and the time changed to 9:00-9:30. It doesn't appear to fix itself when I change its time to 10:00 (again I don't want to delete anything since that might "fix" the problem without actually solving it.)
    11/20/09 10:34:45 AM iCal[45688] save failed: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=1600 UserInfo=0x105b79590 "Items cannot be deleted from alarms." {

Despite my reservations, the user needed his calendar to sync ASAP, so I deleted the Adam Hird appointment. Then I thought "might be a good idea to back it up so I can help Apple Discussions troubleshoot!" so I pressed Cmd+Z to undo the deletion. Apparently this unstuck the clog-- the test appointments that weren't syncing up to Exchange deleted themselves (oops) and the Adam Hird appointment reverted back to its Exchange state (9:00-9:15, no location). Further tests show that syncing now works fine with no Console errors.
Any ideas? Consider this a bug report, I guess...

The steps I followed for the MLR#3 patch on Windows 32 bit were:
    1) Use opatch utility for patch 7586063 - No errors displayed and lsinventory output looks fine
    2) Ran the upgrade_10134_10134mlr_olite.sql & upgrade_10134_10134MLR_olite.sql scripts for BPEL and ESB (Oracle Lite used for this development install)
Any ideas how to resolve the BPEL Console error?

After performing an opatch rollback I realised that I should have run the BPEL database upgrade script "upgrade_10134_10134mlr_above_mlr11_olite.sql" rather than the one listed in my previous post above.
So after reapplying the patch and running the correct script all is now working

  • Console errors (multiple, 60-some) -- "value of separation out of range"

    I have a long, 128 page chapter.
I was getting a "font not found, substitute Times New Roman for MS Shell Dlg 2" console message when I
    opened the file.
An online search turned up the suggestion that if you can't actually find the font in your doc, to get rid of it, saving the file as MIF, and opening
and re-saving to FM, might solve the problem. ("If the font isn't really there to begin with.")
It didn't work. The console error message from opening the MIF file says, **The "MS Shell Dlg 2" Font is not available. "Times New Roman"
will be used in this session.**
On top of which, that same console error window also has about 60 lines with a different numerical variation of:
MIF: "K:\Technical Publications Current Projects\00 yadda yadda filename.mif" (126817): Value of Separation out of range (11).
The messages are all the same, only the six digit numbers in parantheses change.
I'm on a (relatively) NEW Dell Precision T1500 box with 64 bit Win 7 & FM 9.0p255. All graphics in the file were imported by reference into
anchored frames from a "graphics n pix" folder in the same directory as the FM file.
....I don't know if this is really a problem or not, but the filie does take a heck of a long time to open, and there's
usually a paranthetical note in the window top bar, following the FM file name, that says Windows (not responding.)
Which goes away when the file does open. (In 2 or 3 minutes? Haven't put a stopwatch on it....)
This file is just one of many similarly sized docs, so I'm a little worried about what might happen when they're all collected
    into the book file.
Any suggestions, info or advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks. If the font isn't found -- for whatever reason, in whatever kind of object -- could I do
a workaround by installing the missing font? In this case, MS Shell Dlg 2. (Whatever the
heck that is, assuming I can find it available somewhere.)
...Oops, wait, MS Shell Dlg 2 isn't really a font at all, here's what I found:
The following is an excerpt from the Microsoft   MSDN Library, April 2000:
“MS Shell Dlg is a mapping   mechanism that enables U.S. English Windows NT/Windows 2000 to support   locales that have characters that are not contained in code page 1252.   It is not a font but a face name for a nonexistent font. It can be specified   in either the Windows NT/Windows 2000 Setup file during the installation   process or when customizing a local system by double-clicking Control   Panel's Regional Options icon. When you double-click the icon, click the   Set default ... button in the General sheet of the Regional Options dialog   box. Select the appropriate locale in the Select System Locale dialog   box and click OK, then restart the system. The appropriate change occurs   in the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows   NT\Current Version\FontSubstitutes
A benefit of font mapping   in the registry is that you can change the font for the entire shell by   simply changing one .inf file entry. For example, localization for Asia   is much easier because you can change the .inf file entry, instead of   changing every instance of MS Sans Serif in every .rc and .dlg file, and   the change is complete without rebuilding any binaries. Win32-based applications   that contain multiple language resources that cross character-set boundaries   can also take advantage of this feature. It is also useful when you have   an English application in which supporting multiple languages and character   sets is important.
So in this case, the workaround is to find and change an ".inf file entry?"

I also keep getting this message as well..
    12/7/10 5:48:34 PM kernel Warning: audit space low (< 20% free)on audit log file-system
Does anyone know why this is happening? All of a sudden I only have 13GB of space left on my hard drive and this laptop is new there is no way I could have used 500GB in such a short amount of time...
I ran Disk Inventory X and the results came back normal with no outstandingly large files..
What should I do? Does anyone know what that console error may mean?

I'm not sure what is going on. auditd -l is normal. I'm not sure if --l is ok, but it certainly should not fail. With the large loss of disk space, I would suggest booting from the install DVD and repair the disk. Then, restart and repair permission from Disk Utility.
To repair disk from install DVD,
Boot into installer, select language, Select Disk Utility from Utilities menu. Select the boot drive from the list on the left and click Repair Disk.

  • Classic "can't open initial console" error - *I di

Well, I've got an oldish machine:
    Celeron 400
    192MB PC100
    dual FA311's
    Promise ATA133 controller
Anyway, I had a perfectly functioning arch system until I compiled the newest 2.6.5 kernel. I have arch running flawlessly on my laptop... even with the new kernel.
In any case, I did add devfs support, I did add automount devfs on boot, and I verified that fstab had entries for pts.
Yet when I boot, I get the classic "Unable to open an initial console" error.
    BTW, I'm using lilo.
If you want to see any files, just ask and I'll post them.

I did do lilo afterwards (which is a PITA from the arch CD, I had to symlink /etc and /boot to the real hdd so that lilo would run and find everything)
I know it is running the new kernel...
My video card is older than the rest of the computer. It is an old ISA trident card from the early 90's. This is a file server, and I rarely actually sit down in front of it.
I added VGA and VESA support, as well as FB console support. No dice.

  • HT4850 I seemed to have missed the whole ordeal of keeping my 10.4.11 os x powerpc up to date.  Are these suggestions still viable as I have been getting all sorts of console errors which now seem to lead me to this researched destination?

    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== Upgrading to newer Firefox version (3.6.8)

I have been having the same issue for the last two weeks. No real indication as to why it ever began other than I had turned off my router and Airport Extreme Base Station off for a weekend while I was away from my place.
iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, all have no issues at all with my Airport Extreme Base Station. Can stay connected throughout my living room, bathroom, bedroom, no issues whatsoever.
My 5 month old MacBook Pro 2.66 GHz Core i7 Airport is sometimes perfect, able to connect, DHCP, and browse without issue. Then, for no reason, I won't be able to join my wireless network, or when I can join, I can't pick up an IP address. And then it will connect, pick up and IP, and then it won't browse. No real rhyme or reason to when this will happen, or when it works.
I thought that it was an issue with my MacBook Pro, but then my sister visited with her brand new MacBook Pro 2.26 Intel Core 2 Duo, and while a month ago she was able to connect, DHCP, and browse without issue, this weekend she had all of the same issues I was having.
My XBOX 360 and MacBook Pro have absolutely no issues with the wired connection. Only my WAN seems to have this issue.
Did you ever find anything more to this?

  • Console Errors

I keep getting these console errors for every application...
5/5/10 3:06:47 PM firefox-bin[16614] CoreText: Invalid 'kern' Subtable In CTFont <name: LucidaGrande, size: 14.000000, matrix: 0x0>

anyone know what the problem is?

    OK then . . .
The LucidaGrande.ttc is supposed to be in your
HD > SYSTEM > Library > Fonts folder.
If you have another LucidaGrande somewhere, it i conflicting with your System font.
    Other places fonts reside are:
    HD > LIBRARY> Fonts
    HD > USERS> Your Account> Library> Fonts.
The System fonts should never be touched or altered, as chaos could result.
(I know, I destroyed my whole Mac one day, "cleaning out" fonts.
Do you want to check all those places?
There are other Lucida fonts, which also may be conflicting.
Let us know what you find, OK?

  • Console error messages too many and too often

Not sure where to submit this. The messages:

  • Suddenly, opening a new window creates many Console Errors. Keyboard sluggish too

On 10/27 I moved my Bookmarks to a safe folder, deleted FF completely & installed a new copy. Then dragged my Bookmarks back. Then spent MANY hours repopulating my Addons, re-doing login recognitions, etc
Been working OK since then, but with not too many Tabs open.
Now, Suddenly, creating a new Window shows all these Console Errors. And my keyboard is sluggish; I am out-typing the screen response by quite a bit.

Waiting for reply, nobody knows answer of this thread.

If you are working with a VPN, you need to check with the VPN administrator, cause Jinitiator will try to connect over the vpn and it won't be able to connect and download the files.
    Hope this helps.
    Greetings.

Did you check you forms application.log for FRM-93000?
Normally on serverside you receive this error.
Its is because in some forms the Fill pattern is set to None instead to a value like Transparent.
Change this in one form and test if your frm is sill coming up.

  • Got the console error on new cisco 2960x

    Hi,

    hulc_sfp_iic_intf_read_eeprom sfp _index 2 yeti_iic_read_retry fail
i have running os is c2960x-universalk9-mz.150-2.EX5
    Regards
    sunil Jadhav

I tried connecting to iTunes and neither the PC nor iTunes recognizes the device. I went through all the troubleshooting on the Apple website for this issue and nothing worked. I've reinstalled iTunes, the driver, everything and still can't get either the PC or iTunes to recognize the phone.  I don't know what else to do :-( any help or suggestions are highly appreciated!
I would hate to have lost all my info, especially contacts and calendar items since I have no idea what was backed up prior to the phone getting locked on this screen. I've been told that my only option is to go to the phone carrier and they will reset it for me, but that means it will wipe out all the info.
I hope someone has a fix other than that one.

  • More Lion issues - Throwing Console errors for non-existent application

Again, with the bad side of Lion.
I was receiving all kinds of console errors in Lion with TweetDeck and Adobe AIR apps so I de-installed these applications and removed them from the system. However, Apple's fantastic Lion Operating System still is complaining about them even though they are not to be found.
In the console I am getting sandbox errors on locations and files that are non-existent. Below is a snapshot of the error messages, and the directory referred to:  /Users/kkathman/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AIR/ELS/TweetDeckFast....  and the others DON'T EVEN EXIST!!
How do I keep this from happening?  Why does the OS go after this when it's been removed?????

Don't know how you de-installed but you didn't fully uninstall them. If you did not have an uninstaller supplied with the applications, then here's what you need to consider in order to fully uninstall:
    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, Easy Find, instead.  Download Easy Find at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
    AppZapper
    Automaton
    Hazel
    CleanApp
    Yank
    SuperPop
    Uninstaller
    Spring Cleaning
Look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
