Containter -- Container binding

Can someone explain me in detail the difference between the three container bindings?
- Copy All Elements (Except System)
- Programmed Binding (BOR Container)
- Programmed Binding (Container IF)
Where can I find some example function modules or classes for a programmed binding?
Tank you!
BR, René

Hi'
actually SAP Help is all you need to get going in both BOR and IF programmed bindings. Take a look into http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_02/helpdata/en/7c/b82bcd7b9611d194b80000e82dec10/frameset.htm
If you still have problems, let me know and i'll see if I can find some of the programmed bindings I have made.
Hope it helps
Kind regards

  • Container to Container binding in Workflow binding editor

    Hi all,
    I have an issue using Container --> Container binding in the Workflow binding editor (transaction SWF_BAM). What I want to do is to be able to extend the data provided by the event (i.e call a BAPI using values supplied) before assigning it to the target structure.
    This is what I have done:
    - Created an entry in Event Linkage: Application Object to Message Proxy, where the object type is BUS2005 (event RELEASED)
    and proxy is a generated proxy.
    - In the binding editor, I clicked in the Binding Instruction selection and chose Container --> Container as Binding Instruction.
    Now I have created my own class that implements the interface IF_SWF_IFS_BIND_TRANSFORM_CONT, so this class shows up in the drop down list under a section called Enhancement.
    - The class I created and implemented the interface, now contains three methods, where Transform is one. I have put a break point in this method and when I trigger the event (transaction SWUE) the debugger stops. So, the call to the method works fine.
    My problem is, that I cannot access the values provided by the event (these are supplied in parameter SOURCE_CONTAINER).
    Is there anyone who have used this technique and could supply some example code? Is there another technique that I can use to obtain the same result?
    Best regards

    Hi to the both of you!
    Thanks for you answer. I will try to elaborate.
    My scenario is as follows. I want to react on the event CHANGED, of business object BUS2032 (SalesOrder). The information (field values) supplied by the container under EVTOBJECT (in the binding editor) does not fully correspond to what I need to populate in the receiver interface. I would like to send out i.e SalesOrderNumber and PricingProcedure to the receiver interface.
    Now, SalesOrderNumber is supplied by the container (_EVT_OBJECT-SalesDocument, as seen in the binding editor), but hte PricingProcedure would have to be looked up in table VBAK using SalesOrderNumber as a key.
    Issue 1: How do I get hold of the value of field SalesDocument in my class? (as I mentioned earlier I have created a class which references interface IF_SWF_IFS_BIND_TRANSFORM_CONT, so I have the transform method and I can put code there. I have put a break point, so I know processing stops there).
    I tried to following:
    CALL METHOD source_container->if_swf_ifs_parameter_container~get(
            EXPORTING
              name = 'SALESDOCUMENT'
            IMPORTING
              value = l_vbeln ).
    No, success (cx_swf_cnt_elem_not_found). Makes me think that SalesDocument is not a parameter of the event but something else.
    Issue 2: Once I have solved issue 1 and also lookup up the PricingProcedure. How do I go about setting my values in the receiver interface. I know I also have a reference to TARGET_CONTAINER in the TRANSFORM method, but where to go from there?
    Any clues would be grately appreciated. Being successful with this scenario, would open for many interesting possibilities.

  • Container binding issue

    Hi All,
       I have modified a SAP workflow and seem to have problems ppassing sata between steps, The first step I use object CA_WRTOFF method Write-off. This completes a write off. After this step variable DOCUMENTNUMBER is filled with the created document number.
    In the next step I want to display the document, I use object CA_DOC method display. The main parameter it neeeds is document number. I try to use the generate binding. It will pass &CA_DOC& to &_WI_OBJECT_ID&. from workflow to step, both these objects contain document number.
    However when I look in SWEL at the display document step &_WI_OBJECT_ID&. says no instaance under value? How can I populate this value. I try to manually add document number to the binding but am told I cannot use &_WI_OBJECT_ID&.  as a target. I have CA_DOC set as inport and export. Any idea's?? I am on a 4.6 system
    Thanks

    Hi First of all thanks for your patience,
       Second I seem to have passed the document number but it still is not actually passing to the document number field in trans FPE3 (I mentiooned FP08 in error before, that is ultimately my goal which I will clarify)
    Ok here is what I am trying to accomplish
    The original SAP wrtoff workflow CA_WRTOFF activates with event FP04 create writeoff, my company does not like the fact that when it goes to an approver the writeoff is held in limbo. This allows others access to the write off amount. So they have asked me to restructure the workflow.
    The event link as above is CA_WRTOFF with event trigger approval required as above, the first thing I do in the workflow is complete the writeoff with object CA_WRTOFF method writeoff. I then send a user decision to the approver asking if he wants to display document, accept write-off, reverse write-off. I use CAA_DOC display for the display as CA_WRTOFF does not have document number associated with it.
    In the last few moments I changed my binding in the display to coyp all elements except system, this has passed the document number to the display container. When the approver clicks on the display item it brings him to transaction FPE3 but does not populate the document number in FPE3. So the real issue is to have the display method take the approver to FPE3 and fill in the document number so all the approver has to do is hit enter.
    Again thanks for your time and patience, Much appreciated. I am an ABAPPER but quite new to work flows.

  • Task container to workflow container binding

    Hi all,
    I have a requirement to send mail to department responsible of a quality notification as soon as it is created from defects recording.
    I am using sendmail step for this but since it doesnt have agent determination using rule, I am forced to create a background step which captures the value of department responsible (IHPA-PARNR) and passes on to a element in workflow container. The idea was I could later use the value of this container element in my send mail step which follows.
    For this, I have defined a background step in my workflow template. The method in the standard task of this step refers to a function module.
    The function module takes quality notification number as input (QMEL-QMNUM) and outputs the partner number (data type IHPA-PARNR).
    I want to capture this partner number into my workflow at runtime. For this I defined a workflow container element refering to IHPA-PARNR so that it can bind to the export parameter of the task, which gets the value from method.
    when I test my function module it works fine. BUt when I try to bind the task to my workflow, the binding between the elements refering to IHPA-PARNR gives error this error message:
    " incompatible data type reference"
    whereas the data type reference is same for both container elements.
    Please help.
    Thanks
    kiran

    Hi Ramki,
    This is the binding from workflow to task container.
    X                 => &EXPRESS&
    G                 => &TYPEID&
    &DEPTRESPONSIBLE& => &ADDRESSSTRINGS&
    Here the DEPTRESPONSIBLE is the WF container element which gets the value of department (basically a org structure IHPA-PARNR) via a background task in the previous step.
    And in the recepients list, I have given
    recepient type : organizational object
    expression     : &DEPTRESPONSIBLE&
    I think this is where the problem is. Because when I give workflow initiator as recepient, it works fine. But when I give the department responsible as expression as shown above it errors out.
    It also works fine when I hardcode the value of department responsible in the recepients list (say 50001930)and give recepient type as Organizational object.
    So the problem is it is not taking the value stored in the container element &DEPTRESPONSIBLE& as the recepient.
    Any ideas.
    Thanks a million.

  • Event container binding

    I am new in WFs.
    I’ve defined bindings from the event container to the Workflow container In the Workflow Builder in the basic data of the workflow on the tab page Start Events.
    The event Created has one input parameter like zwxorder-norder. (norder is defined as a key in BOR, not as an attriute)
    Binding event -> workflow:
    &_EVT_CREATOR& -> &_WF_INITIATOR&
    &NORDER& -> &NORDER&
    But the container is empty after starting of a workflow via SWUE with the event input parameter. Why so?
    Thanks

  • Programmed Binding (Container IF)

    Hello Everyone,
    I was experimenting on Programmed Binding (Container IF) but I can't seem to make it work. I have had tried to refer the codes from the Programmed Binding (BOR Container) but to no avail.
    Is there anyone who can guide me on this?

    hi Liew
    You can use programmed binding in a binding instruction. You can use programmed binding to create more complex assignments, such as:
    ·        Perform calculations or checks on container elements before assignment
    ·        Combine two or more container elements before assignment
    You can implement a programmed binding as an ABAP class or a function module
    You can use an ABAP class to implement the Container ® Container and Expression ® Expression bindings.
    A binding that is implemented as an ABAP class is displayed in the list of binding statements as an enhancement and is visible in all Workflows. This type of ABAP class is therefore particularly suitable for making company-wide enhancements.
    An enhancement such as this is completely integrated in the binding editor. You can implement you own checks for the class and choose the names and symbols to be used to display the enhancement in the binding editor.
    Function module
    You can use a function module to implement the Container ® Container binding.
    A function module can use the BOR container interface or the container interface
    The BOR container interface supports compatibility reasons. It is therefore advisable to use the container interface for new function modules for the following reasons:
    ·         The container interface has no restrictions with regard to data types. The BOR container does not support the following data types: REF TO, STRING, XSTRING, fields that are longer than 255 characters.
    ·         No data type conversions are required for the container interface. This improves performance.

  • Search parameter type with bind variable

    For Search type parameter in Oracle BI Publisher, if the List of values (SQL Query) contains bind variable, then application keep on searching. Any suggestions ?.
    Thanks in advance.
    Edited by: 966132 on 17-Oct-2012 22:23

    I don't think the search-type parameter works properly. It doesn't seem to function in our OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.5 + BP3). When you use a query that retrieves both the descriptive string and the numeric ID, the search box does correctly show the descriptive string. However, after selecting one of the choices, the actual data query returns nothing.
    Furthermore, the extra steps required to search take longer than scrolling through a very long list of values, the normal way. Good idea, bad implementation, no surprise.

    Hi,
    Create A Context Attribute (Say  Visible_Hide )of Type WDUI_VISIBILITY with initial value as 01.
    Goto your Container, Bind the Visible Property with Above Created Attribute(Visible_Hide).
    In the Input Field,Use the OnEnter Event and Set the Value to Visible_Hide as 02.
    Then the Container will be Visible.
    Thaks.

  • Can I write to a BO attribute straight from BO method-skipping container ?

    hi,
    We have created a single character virtual attribute in BO, we have created a method that will set the attribute to X if its blank and blank if its X.
    I have tried working with  object-attribute name but it does not set the values. I am trying to remove the container binding between method->task and task-->BO out of question by writing straight to BO.
    Is it possible ?
    thanks,
    GV

    You can code for Virtual attribute.
    You can call method using
    SWC_CALL_METHOD
    SWC_GET_PROPERTY

    When I inherit Form with binding DataSet why then designer find mdb file in 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\'
    Do I have to anything to change in my application settings or what I am doing wrong?
    When I inherit a plain Form with no binding DataSet then is all ok.

    I finally saw my longingly expected inherited window containing binding dataset.
    But only by way that I put mdb file right in to the this damn path.
    "c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\Zdrojove Data\ISMS2003.mdb"
    In addition mdb file shall be clear too of password.
    We have many windows in our application and we have to work strongly good with inheritance of Form Classes.
    But how I will explain to my Boss if he click on that inherited window and will see this break window?
    Though I will advice to my Boss that hi have to copy too that MDB files to this damn path,
    but the best way could be to find what I need to change that this inherited windows shows without copy this MDB files to
    'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\'
    When I check the settings for DataDirectory every paths looks good.
    Even if I set password for the mdb file I almost see only broken designer window.
    Only by copy this MDB file without his password to this path
    'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE\'
     I can see this inherited window right.

  • How can i add one field in the container for the standard task-90310004?

    Please let me know thw steps to add one field in the container for the standard task-90310004.
    Usefull suggestions will be rewarded.
    Regards,
    Neslin.

    <b>Hi,
    Containers are used for holding Application data for Workflow purposes.
    Event container
    Task container
    Workflow container
    Role container
    Binding is the linking of data from one container to the other for making data available all across the workflow.
    But you can get values from one container to another container like this
    Container(Con)
    1. WF Con to Role, Wf con to task con, Wf con to event
    and
    2. Event con to wf con, task con to wof con
    and
    3. Method con to task con
    and
    4. Task con to method con
    So, we don't have direct possible binding from task con to task con.

  • Oracle 10g Diff in execution plan query with binding var Vs without

    We recently did 10g upgrade. In 10g, execution plan differs for query with binding var(thru jdbc etc) Vs without it as given below. For query with binding var,
    it chooses poor execution plan(no index is used, full scan is done etc). everything worked fine in 9i. To rectify the problem, we have to hint query with right index,join etc. but i dont like this solution.
    I would rather prefer to correct database to choose right execution path instead of eacy query level. but not sure what causes the issue.
    Does anybody came across this issue? if so, Please share your experiences. Thanks for the help. Do let me know if you need more info.
    1. Query without binding bar:
    select * from test where col1 = :1 and col2 = :2
    1. Query without binding bar:
    select * from test where col1 = 'foo' and col2= 'bar'

    I am not an expert but in my humble opinion it is the developer's responsability to ensure the correct explain plan is used before deploying code to production, if the explain plan returned by the DB is bad, then the use of a hint is perfectly acceptable.
    Check this out: http://lcgapp.cern.ch/project/CondDB/snapshot/performance.html
    Excerpt:
    Bind variable peeking. If an SQL query contains bind variables, the optimal execution plan may depend on the values of those variables. When the Oracle query optimizer chooses the execution plan for such a query, it may indeed look at the values of all bind variables involved: this is known as "bind variable peeking".
    In summary, the execution plan used for a given SQL query cannot be predicted a priori because it depends on the presence and quality of statistics and on the values of bind variables used at the time the query was first executed (hard-parsed). As a consequence of this instability of execution plans, very different performances may be observed for the same SQL query. In COOL, this issue is addressed by adding Oracle hints to the queries, to make sure that the same (good) plan is used in all cases, even with unreliable statistics or unfavourable bind variables.

  • Binding definition error with programmed binding classes

    Hi all,
    640/NW04s/ECC5 SP14 system, I'm trying to use a programmed container->container binding class.
    I've created my class implementing interface IF_SWF_IFS_BIND_TRANSFORM_CONT, but when I try to put it into the binding editor, it complains with:
    SWF_BND_001/100: Error when executing binding operaton 'CNT'
    I've tried all sorts, even gone as far as implementing the presentation interface and giving it a little icon in the binding editor (nice touch!).
    Looks nice, but still no joy so back to basics: I figured to make sure there's no problem with my code I created two completely empty classes, one for Expression->Expression binding and one for Container->Container binding. The binding editor is happy with the expression binding class, but still gives the same message about the container binding class.
    No luck with any notes on OSS, any input welcome...
    Cheers
