Content Caching with NM-CE

Hi Folks,
My CE is currently running in our network for few days but we encouter some unusual symtoms like;
1) The web broswer will hang with a blank page without displaying any item. After a while, everything will come out instantaneously. For big web page, it hangs longer.
Is this common? Can i fix the CE in such a way where it display the items while itself is pulling data from the origin server?
Any advice is kindly appreciated.
Thanks.

Cisco routers support OIR with similar modules only. If you remove a network module, install another module exactly like it in its place. If you remove a 2-slot network module (along with any installed WAN or voice interface cards), install another module and card combination exactly like it.

  • Content Caching: Servlet.getLastModified()

    Hello everyone,
I've been experimenting the past few days in the process of caching the contents of a servlet response, at the client side, and it was a very frustrating experience. After I was able to get a hold of all the mechanics of this process, I decided to share that information here, to relieve whoever is interested from the mess and frustration I've been through, especially that I haven't found much details on the topic in this forum and on the internet in general.
In case of the GET http method, the default implementation of the service() method uses the getLastModified() method to determine weather the servlet supports the idea of "client-side caching" or not. If getLastModified() returns -1 (which is the default behavior) then the service() method determines that caching is not supported by this servlet, and immediately passes control the the doGet() method, to construct the response for the client.
In order to support content caching, one has to override the getLastModified() method to return the date at which the servlet's-response content has been last modified. When the service() method finds that a positive value is returned by the getLastModified() method, one of the following scenarios would take place.
1-If the request coming from the client doesn't contain the If-Modified-Since header, then the service() method would add the Last-Modified header to the response object, specifying the date when the last content-modification took place, then pass control to the doGet() method. The client would then cache that response, take the value from the Last-Modified header and put it in the If-Modified-Since header in all the requests that follow, to that servlet.
2-If the request coming from the client does contain the If-Modified-Since header with a date EQUAL-TO the one returned by the getLastModified() method, then the service() method responds with a 304 (NOT MODIFIED) status to the client without referring to the doGet() method, and the client should use the cached content. Notice that in this case the service() method would NOT include the Last-Modified header to the response, since the client already knows it.
3-If the request coming from the client does contain the If-Modified-Since header with a date EARLIER-THAN the one returned by the getLatModified() method, then the service() method would add the Last-Modified header to the response object, specifying the date when the last content-modification took place, then pass control to the doGet() method. The client would then cache that response,(which is newer than the one it was already caching) and take the value from Last-Modified header and put it in the If-Modified-Since header in all the requests that follow.
One last thing, when you set the modification date, you HAVE TO round it down to the nearest second ( date / 1000 * 1000), as determined by the time precision in communications over the HTTP: if this process is left out, responses will NEVER be cached.

kinda. you can cache the html output using idocscript. this means your java query only gets executed once every period, say, every half an hour.
but if your java output does not go to a page, like it is some kinda internal processing, then you'll need to figure out some kinda java caching solution.
idoc caching is covered in the manuals, see cacheInclude()

  • LSO Enterprise Learning - Content Caching

Can someone share their experience and any recommendations related to the Caching of content within the LSO system (including KM).
We have had mixed results with content caching in our testing so I want to know if our results are an anomaly.
    Thanks, Randy

    Hi Randy McCormick,
We cache the content centrally, we have tried to work with local caching however that chrashed our Content Player, so we gave up that strategy. Caching centrally has given us some performance issues, but the issues we have faced with local caching was bigger when we tested.
Another thing that we have tested on is running with/without the JSAPI, here our expierence is definitely running WITH the JSAPI setting activated.
If you are able I would like to hear what your expierence is

our customer want to deploy cache solution
and want state of art product in current market
can you tell me more in term of 1 perfomance
    second current market share.

    Hi James,
The Alteon Personal Content Cache is Nortel's OEM of the Novell ICS (now called "Volera Excelerator").
This forum isn't really the place to get into discussions of competitive differentiators, but suffice to say that we believe our solution has some significant benefits and features/functionality that the Alteon PCC lacks - for both Transparent Cache (TPC) and Content Delivery (CDN) deployments.
We have details on some recent large "customer wins" in the Content Edge delivery space on the web.
    For some of these, see:
    http://newsroom.cisco.com/dlls/corp_061801.html
    http://newsroom.cisco.com/dlls/corp_041801b.html
There are numerous other examples of these kinds of deployments.
You should contact your Cisco account representative and I'm sure they'd be happy to share more information with you.
    cheers,

  • How to read the content from a External Content Type with out creating External List in Sharepoint 2013?

    Hi,
I have a requirement to read the External Content Type and storing the Data in a Session Variable. The Reading of the content from External Content Type with out creating a External List.
Please help I am trying to find the solution, but unable to do that.
    Thanks,
    Pradeep

    Hi,
Firstly an external content type designed to work with SharePoint list and there is no way to read apart from this.
If you are looking the solution out of the " Business Connectivity" then find that data source has been exposed through WCF and  Web Service ?
So you can use REST API and CSOM to consume those data in SharePoint.
You can also leverage the ADO.NET option if the datasources based on MS technologies.

  • Device caching with Flash Lite

Hi, could anyone give me some info on content caching when
using Flash Lite on a device?
I have some swf's that sit on a server and are loaded by a
client.swf that sits on my Nokia N70. Each of the swf's from the
server use shared fonts that reside within a fonts.swf file that
    also sits on the server.
Does anyone know if fonts.swf is cached on my device after
it's first loaded, or does the Flash player reload fonts.swf each
time a new .swf that requires it is loaded?
I had thought that if caching doesn't take place, then I
could possibly keep fonts.swf stored locally on my device and have
each of the remote swf's simply use the local copy of fonts.swf for
faster access. Is this possible? And if so, how would I point the
URL property for each shared font back to my local device?
    Thanks.

I created a book in iBooks Author using the Photo Book template. When I rotate to portrait orientation, the photo or widget disappears and a table of contents appears with only the interactive media showing.

Thanx for the prompt response, KT. I have indeed seen that thread, only just after I posted the question.
I have spent hours on the phone with what I now know is a call center in Texas on this question.
I think Apple could be a little more "hands on" with iBooks Author users, and it should also be pointed out that landscape photos will not display in portrait mode.
In my case, I used gallery widgets to display vertical photos, since they look better in portrait mode.
But instead of simply rotating, the page disappears and a TOC of interactive media appears. The gallery behaves as expected when tapped. This is not what I expected, but since the gallery works, I can live with it.
Right now I have "tickets" telling me to "fix" this "problem or to disable portrait mode.
I don't want to disable portrait mode.
Will Apple accept the books if I tell them this is not an "error?"

  • Ability to process several raw files with the same content but with different exposure into the single picture

Can you add to the Lightroom an ability to process several raw files with the same content but with different exposure into the single picture?
Base raw files can be given with exposure bracketing during shooting, for example.
The goal - to get maximum details in darks and lights (if we use the "ligths recovery" or "fill lights" we lose the quality because raw file just have no all required information).
The similar (but not the same, only the idea) thing - is High Dynamic Range Photography in Adobe Photoshop
    Thank you

The plugin LR/Enfuse does this already. And of course Photomatix have a plugin available for Lightroom. This essentially amounts to pixel editing, which is beyond the range of Lightroom's metadata editing.

  • JMS Content Conversion with spaces

    Hi
I am using the JMS Content Conversion to transalte MQ messages ( they come from the Mainframe ),to XML Format.
These messages are in fixed lenghts structure , the fields contain blanks (spaces)
The adapter cannot deal with it,only fixed lenghts without spaces , the monitor gives the following error
XI inbound processing failed for message at 2006-08-24|07:45:25.518+0200. JMS and XI identifiers for message are ID:414d51204445564d41494e31202020207aabe04420c2ea13 and bd95c760-3333-11db-b915-001125a56002 respectively. JMS adapter will rollback database and JMS session transactions
Have some1 dealed with this issue? managed to solve it?
    Thx,Shai

    Hi Shai.
Before you call him ,try to use the simple convertion in the sender JMS comm. channel, then after you got the first XML structure to the XI ,use a simple\advanced java function from the message mapping and get rid of the spaces if they bother you.
Can you post the fixed width message you get from JMS I'd like to have a look.
By the way ,how did you resolve the File content convertion with 4 levels?
Regarding Yaki's phone...well I'm sure your Boss have it.
    8-)
    Again ,good luck.

  • To create 3 diff files with same content but with diff names in same target

    Hi SapAll.
i have got a a requirement where pi need to create 3 different files with same content but with different names under same target from a single Idoc.
its an IDOC to 3 File Inteface.
can any body help me in providing the differnt solutions for this without use of any script executions.
    will be waiitng for response.
    regards.

    > i want to use only one communication channel to produce 3 different file names with same content ,so here i should use only one message mapping in 3 operation mappings .
This is not possible to produce 3 different file names with single CC. You have to use 3 different CCs. unless you have going to use some other trick e.g some script to rename the file etc..
As I suggested in my previous reply use Multi-Mapping Or create 3 different Interface Mappings (by using the same MM).
Note: You have to create 3 different Inbound Message Interfaces (you can use the same Inbound Message Type) otherwise while creating the 3 Interface Determination it won't allow because of same Outbound & Inbound Message Interface. It will simply say Interface alreday exists..
So, just use the Multi-Mapping which is best solution in my opinion, because the benefit of using multi-mapping are:
    1. You have to create only single Message Mapping
    2. Single Interface Mapping
    3. Single Receiver Determination
    4. Single Interface Determination
    5. 3 Receiver CCs (3 you have to use in any case)
    6. Performance wise it is good (read the blog's last 2 para)
    7. And last but not the least easy to maintain the scenario.

  • To create multiple files with same content but with different names

    Hi SapAll.
here i have got a tricky situation on Idoc to File Scenario.
in my interface of an Idoc to file ,there  is requirement to create multiple files with different file names but with same content based on one Idoc Segment.
which means there will be one Zsegment with two fields in the idoc, where one field with (content refers to the name which file name should start with .so lets say if this segment is repeated for 3 times then PI should create 3 files in the same directory with same content but with different file names (from the filed).
so here for now iam using one reciever file communication channel.
can any body give me the quick answer.
    regards.
    Varma

What do you mean by different names?
when i make proper setting in the Receiver Channel....on how to create the filename (what to append) like add Timestamp, counter, date, messageid.....even in this case you will ahve file with different names and that too from same File channel.
You can perform multi-mapping in XI/ PI and then your File channel will place the files in the target folder with relevant names. You cannot use Dynamic Configuration with Multi-Mapping!
If you intend to use different File channels, then do the configuration as required (normal)...even over here you can follow multi-mapping.
    Do not use a BPM!
    Regards,
    Abhishek.
