File sender adapter and content conversion with polish character
We are loading a csv file with PI 7.0 file sender adapter using "content conversion" - all fields go through EXCEPT a special character hex '208C' (space in front) looks like "Æ" is converted to hex 'C28C'.
We are using code page UTF8
We are using:
enclosuresign "
enclosuresignescape ""
fieldcontentformatting nothing
enclosureconversion NO
Hope some one can helpHi Bohamo,
Hope you have set the following for your file sender adapter :
1. Transfer Mode is set to Binary,
2. File Type Text,
3. Encoding ISO-8859-1( for Western European Latin ).
Inorder to recognize Polish Character, try as follows :
Your sender file after coming into Pi has XML encoding declaration 'UTF-8'.
Write a simple XSLT mapping to change the value of the attribute "encoding" to "ISO-8859-1" in the output XML of message mapping . Include this XSLT map as the second mapping step in your interface mapping.
First step in your interface mapping will be your already existing message mapping.
An example of the XSL code :
<?xml version='1.0'?>
<xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
<xsl:output method='xml' encoding='ISO-8859-1' />
<xsl:template match="/">
<xsl:copy-of select="*" />
</xsl:template>
</xsl:stylesheet>
or you can also do java mapping if you are comfortable with java code !

I want to SKIP new line character
and to collect all SIX fields.
What will be the file content conversion parameter?
Thanks in Advance..........Hi,
as far as i know there is nothing in the standard. But the question is why dont you combine at mapping the fields into only structure?

What is the parameter to place to get a new line after each record? I am using row.endSeparator as 'nl' I am getting some special character instead of starting a new record in next line.
Thanks

Hi gurus
I sem to have a really silly problem
I'm only getting the FIRST field on file content conversion and no new line
here's a part of the XML file from the payload manifest

</rfc:Z_XI_005_RFC>
I've defined the following parameters in the content conversion
Recordset sructure item
content conversion parameters
item.fieldSeparator ; (a semi colon)
item.endSeparator 'nl'
if I look in my file all i get is
100853
where's the rest of the data ????
When I don't use content conversion xml file is generated correctly.
Any ideas
I am at 100% loss to see what's wrong here as this should be an EASY automatic conversion.
(the input structure is all character)..
Max pts to anyone who solves this

Trailing spaces problem during file content conversion
I have developed a proxy to file scenario.And am using file content conversion for creating the file. The file is to be a fixed length file.
File Structure
<Header>
<Item>
<Item Trailer>
<File Trailer>
Each tab in the file has the last character mapped to spaces.
Eg: Header00000001 2006011700000000020060<blank space>
Item00000001 2006011700000000020060<blank space>
The problem is that during file content conversion. XI does not preserve trailing spaces at the end of the line i.e.if a particular line in the file ends with space. It terminates the line at the last non-space character (in this case at 060).
However we are required to maintain these trailing spaces at the end of each line.
I have tried preserve white space in data type that does not work.
I know that xslt mapping may solve the problem but I am looking for a workaround with my current graphical mapping.
Looking for suggestions !!
Thanks,
RashidaHi,
I have the problem quite opposite to this where we are getting the trailing spaces at end of each record which should not come.
File structure is
<Record>
- <Data>
<Content>11/09/2007@210@ZACSL007@GBB-56436@PS01@29@1044@19@646@0</Content>
</Data>
</Record>
............. n records
<Header>
<File_Name>UK01</File_Name>
</Header>
Record structure in communication channel used is
Header, Data
Data.fieldFixedLengths 1024
Data.addHeaderLine 0
Header.addHeaderLine 0
Header.fieldFixedLengths 0
Header.fixedLengthTooShortHandling Cut
Data.fixedLengthTooShortHandling Cut
Header.endSeparator '0'
Actually if the length of record is less than 1024, rest of the length is being filled with spaces which should not occur.
Many advanced thanks.

File adapter content conversion
Hi all,
We are having File to File Scenario
We are facing problem in Content conversion in File
Adapter(Sender)
The source file is in text format and fields are
seperated by '|' character
The source file structure is :
Header|No. of Records
Data Record1
Data Record2
Data Recordn
Trailer|No. of Records
where Data Recordn is of type Field1|Field2|Field3|Field4
and the number of data records is variable
e.g.
Header|5
2|144012|20050801|20050801
212|012|20050801|20050801
244012|2|20050801|20050801
2144|144012|20050801|20050801
212|012|20050801|20050801
Trailer|5
Now , we need to ignore the contents of Header and Trailer Records
For Header , we are setting the property Document Offset to 1
Hence the Header record is ignored
However , we are facing problems in ignoring the Trailer record
We want to know :
1. Is there a direct way ( or some propety ) wherein we can ignore the last record of the file ,
which in this case is Trailer record
2. We also tried the following :
a. We set the Recordset Structure to : row,*,trailer,1
b. However in this case , the keyField is required for row ;
but since the number of data records is variable ,
the keyFieldValue cannot be specified
How should we go about in this case
Please guide us on this
Regards
ShikhaHi all
Thanks for replies
Actually , we are able to ignore header and that is not an issue
Now if we need to discard the trailer record , we believe that RecordSet Structure should be <b>row,,trailer,1</b> or <b>header,1,row,,trailer,1</b>
However , since structure is <b>row,*</b> ; we need to specify the <b>keyField</b> column for row ( data records )
Since <u>number of data records</u> is variable , we are not able to set the <b>keyFieldValue</b> for <u>row ( data record )</u>
Can you'all please guide us on this as we are stuck on this .

File Content Conversion in Sender Adapater
Hi Folks ,
I am doing a file 2 file scneario using content conversion at both end
My i/p and o/p is file is tab delimited
My source xml structure is
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<ns0:file_sender_mt xmlns:ns0="urn:filetofiledemo">
<recordset>
<data1>
<keyfield/>
<age1/>
</data1>
<data>
<name/>
<keyfield/>
<age/>
<loc>
<keyfield/>
</loc>
</data>
</recordset>
</ns0:file_sender_mt>
Data and location have the mapping 1.. unbounded
while data1 has the mapping 1.1
When I am trying to read it as a tab delimited flat file.
These are the parameters that i have set
Document Name file_sender_mt
Document Namespace urn:filetofiledemo
Recordset Name recordset
Recordset Structure data1,1,data, ,loc,
Key Field Name keyfield
data1.fieldNames keyfield,age1
ignoreRecordsetName true
recordset.fieldSeparator '0'
data1.fieldSeparator '0x09'
data1.keyFieldValue 01
data1.endSeparator '0'
data.beginSeparator '0x09'
data.fieldSeparator '0x09'
data.fieldNames name,keyfield,age
data.keyFieldValue 02
loc.fieldSeparator '0x09'
loc.beginSeparator '0x09'
loc.endSeparator '0'
loc.keyFieldValue 03
loc.fieldNames keyfield
My file is getting picked up . I dont see any message in message monitoring and neither anything in moni .
No error in adapater
but the file is not getting created .
if i change the message protocol to file and send t above xml file . the scneario works fine
any reasons for the above behaviour
Thanks
AmitI have found you cant use nested element in sender adapater
so i have chnage my source structure to
Now if i give my i/p file as
01 age1
02 25 03
file is getting pciked up
bt if i give it as
01 age1 02 25 03
which is the structure i expect my i/p file it is failing to read with the error
Error: Conversion of complete file content to XML format failed around position 0: Exception: ERROR converting document line no. 1 according to structure 'data1':java.lang.Exception: ERROR in configuration: more elements in file csv structure than field names specified!
Does The special character ´0´ is not a separator character.
not work for sender adapater bcoz in reciever i am able to get o/p in one line and tab delimited
any idea
and since i have given my keyfield as the second field in data
02 would come at the second palce
Thanks

Thanks in advanceThere is nothing wrong in your content conversion parameters. This is pure editors interpretation for the next line character.
I would do in java program to fix this issue using '\r\n' You might want to try and see how that helps for notepad editor. -
File XML Content Conversion: Problem with special characters
Hello,
in a file sender cc content conversion is used to transform a flat structure to XML. What we experiencecd is that the message mapping failed due to a character that was not allowed in XML:
I was assuming that the file content conversion just creates XML messages with allowed characters. Is there any way to configure content conversion to remove control characters which are not allowed in XML? Unfortunately the sender system cannot be modified.
Thank you.Hi Florian,
Please use this UDF to remove special characters which prevent XML messages to form properly.
public static String removeSpecialChar(String s)
try
s=s.replaceAll("&","& amp ;");
s=s.replaceAll("<" , " & lt ;");
s=s.replaceAll(">", "& gt ;");
s=s.replaceAll("'", "& apos ;");
s=s.replaceAll("\"", "& quot ;");
catch(Exception e)
e.printStackTrace();
return s;
Please remove spaces between characters within double quotes. I have added them because otherwise you can't see this code properly. Please check this below link , please replace the characters with proper values as the display is causing a problem here

File content conversion using SOAP adapter
Hi,
I'm using a receiver SOAP adapter in my IDOC to file scenario and need to do file content conversion in the receiver side.
Are any standard modules available for file content conversion in the SOAP adapter or do I need to write custom EJB modules for this.
Please note that I have to use a SOAP adapter, can't use any other adapter.
Thanks in advance
ShiladityaHi,
XML Document Conversion Type
● Enter recordTypes as the parameter name.
Under Parameter Value, enter the complete, comma-separated list of all names of recordset types that occur in the document to be converted.
If you decide to use this method, you can define a different conversion type for each recordset type that occurs in the XML document.
For example, you could name the recordset types as follows: RecordType1,RecordType2,RecordType3.
● Enter singleRecordType as the parameter name.
Under Parameter Value, enter the name of a recordset type that is to be used to convert all elements that occur in the XML document.
If you decide to use this method, define the same conversion type for each recordset type that occurs in the XML document.
You must enter exactly one parameter only. Whichever parameter you choose, you automatically exclude the second parameter.
You define further parameters for each recordset type.
In the remainder of this documentation the parameters are specified by the prefix <RecordType>. In your configuration, replace this name with the name of the recordset type.
Conversion Type List with Separators
● <RecordType>.fieldSeparator
Enter the field separator that is written between the individual fields of a record.
This specification is mandatory.
Conversion Type List with Fixed Field Length
● <RecordType>.fieldLengths
Specify a character string that contains a list of fixed field lengths that are separated by commas and which determines the number and the length of fields generated in the text file.
For example, you want to write a recordset with three elements that have field widths of five, ten, and fifteen characters. Enter:
<RecordType>.fieldLengths = 5,10,15
This specification is mandatory.
● <RecordType>.fieldLengthExceeded
Specify how you want to handle fields that exceed the configured field length. Permitted values for the parameter value are:
○ error (default)
Interrupts processing of message with error
○ cut
Cuts off superfluous characters
○ ignore
Ignores the field length restriction
Further Entries
● <RecordType>.beginSeparator
Enter a string. The string is placed in front of the first field of a recordset.
● <RecordType>.endSeparator
Enter a string. The string is appended to the last field of a recordset as a concluding character. The default is \r\n.
● contentType
Enter the MIME type of the converted payload. The default value is text/plain.
● addHeaderLine
Only define this parameter if you have already defined singleRecordType.
Define whether a header line is to be added to the result of the conversion.
○ none (default)
Does not insert a header line
○ fromXML
The header line is generated from the element name of the first recordset of the XML document
○ fromConfiguration
The header line is determined by the configuration parameter headerLine.
● headerLine
Only define this parameter if you have already set addHeaderLine=fromConfiguration.
The value that you define is placed in front of the result of the conversion as a header line.
● fixedLineWidth
Enter the maximum line length n (in characters) that can be written to the resulting document. The separator specified by lineSeparator is inserted in the resulting document every n characters.
● lineSeparator
Only define this parameter if you have already defined fixedLineWidth.
Specify the string that is written to the resulting document at the end of each line that is written with fixedLineWidth. The default is \r\n.
Use of Special Characters
You can use special characters in the following parameters: <RecordType>.fieldSeparator, <RecordType>.beginSeparator, <RecordType>.endSeparator, headerLine, and lineSeparator.
● Tabulator: \t
● Carriage Return (CR): \r
● Line Feed (LF): \n
● Arbitrary character: \x<code>
<code>indicates the hexadecimal character code of the character to be displayed.

Hi ,
My Scenario is File to FIle having Sender .CVS using File Content Conversion
The sender file is coming below as an example,
a,b,"c,d,e",f
Here I need to consider Double code value "c,d,e" as a single field value using File separator as COMMA(,)
Please guide me how to achieve this type of file using FCC with file separator COMMA.Hi Dilip,
We had a similar problem where the name for eg: "John,Smith" when written into a .csv file were considered as "John","Smith" as two different entities instead of one. The solution was we used the character quotes " before and after the name field message mapping before it is sent to channel for .csv conversion as shown in the screenshot. Now it is treated as one single filed instead of two.
Hope this helps!
Thanks,

File Sender, Content Conversion - how to define variable length last field?
XI 3.0 SP17
With a File Sender communication channel, that uses Content Conversion - how do I define a 'variable length' last field?
The scenario - the input file has four fields, of which the first three are a known fixed length, and the last (fourth, trailing) field is variable in length.
Using a Message Protocol of 'File Content Conversion', how do I define that last variable length field (field name 'WOData' below) in the Content Conversion Parameters section?
My current parameters are:
Recordset Structure - Row,*
ignoreRecordsetName - true
Row.fieldFixedLengths - 1,12,5,99999
Row.fieldNames - WOType,WONum,WOLine,WOData
I've tried the following for 'Row.fieldFixedLengths' to no avail -
'1,12,5,*'
'1,12,5,0'
'1,12,5,'
'1,12,5'
The last two were grasping at straws )
The only thing I've got to work is specifying a 'large' value for the final field (99999 above).
In addition, does anyone know if specifying a large value (e.g. 99999) for the final trailing field will give rise to performance issues when the file is being processed?
In the help for "Converting File Content in a Sender Adapter", it states -
<Begin Quote>
NameA.fieldFixedLengths
If you make a specification here, the system expects a character string that contains the lengths of the structure columns as arguments separated by commas.
If you also specify a separator for the columns, you must not add its length to the length of the columns.
This entry is mandatory if you have not made an entry for NameA.fieldSeparator.
<End Quote>
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/2c/181077dd7d6b4ea6a8029b20bf7e55/content.htm<< note that fieldFixedLengths will not take any wildcard entries like *. So in these case it is ideal to provide a maximum char length. But note that while the file is being created that many spaces will be created in your file !!! >>
Hi Shabarish,
Yes, no wildcard is the conclusion I came to, hence my maximum )
The message size did not increase by any 'blank padding'. When I look in [Message Display Tool (Detail Display)] 'Audit Log for Message: X' -
2006-10-17 18:22:42 Success Channel X: Entire file content converted to XML format
2006-10-17 18:22:42 Success Send binary file "X" from FTP server "X", size 103290 bytes with QoS EO
2006-10-17 18:22:42 Success Application attempting to send an XI message asynchronously using connection AFW.
2006-10-17 18:22:42 Success Trying to put the message into the send queue.
2006-10-17 18:22:42 Success Message successfully put into the queue.
2006-10-17 18:22:42 Success The application sent the message asynchronously using connection AFW. Returning to application.
The input flat file in non-XML format was 92,132 bytes and the message payload into XI was 103,290 bytes.
My understanding is that trailing spaces are stripped from XML nodes. -
Hi All,
My scenario is Proxy to File scenario.
I used content conversion for generating flatfile in receiver side.
In FCC i used fieldFixed Lengths, The flatfile is generated. I gave the Target Directory as AL11 directory(NFS).
In my scenario length of Header is 622 characters.
But am getting the file Upto 512 characters. After That I am not getting any fields in the Header, Remaining fields are cut.
Same I checked with SFTP server with same Content Conversion.It is working good and I am getting complete Header with 622 characters.
Can you please suggest what should I do to get the 622 character in NFS, It is accepting only 512 characters in NFS.
Reagrds,
SatishSatish,
In addition to Amit,
AL11 transaction is used to display all the SAP Directories.When you double click on a directory, you will able to see all the files in the directories. But you can not view the complete content of the file from AL11 as there are some restrcitions in it. Even if you download the file from AL11 itself, the actual file won't be downloaded and you will see the file name along with the path inside the downloaded file as same as you can see it in Al11. So if you need the complete and actual file, you need to download the file from the OS level. You can take help from your basis team to download the file.
Thanks,
A.B -

I have a problem with my content conversion whereby it seems that a new line is being created every "506" character.
What I mean by this is that I have a CSV file in it there are many lines. When I do the content conversion I get an xml like this:
