Content Management Portlet

Hi,
I have been a problem when I import the content management portlet (cmsTools) into my application... My application does not recognize the icons and images references... When I run sampleportal that comes with Weblogic it´s work. Anyone can help me? Thank´s
Version: Weblogic Portal 8.1 SP5

Helder

Hi
I have exactly the same issue.
This problem is due to the way URL s to static images are treated in the cmsTools Portlet.
In fact, in the sampleportal, this tag
<render:resourceUrl var="resourceRootPath" contextualPath='/' />cmsTools/images/cm_home.gifreturns :
http://localhost:7011/PortalApp/cmsTools/images/cm_home.gifwhich is the correct path.
But in another portal, the same tag returns :
http://localhost:7011/PortalApp/?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=page1cmsTools/images/cm_home.gifI don't know how to remove the params from the URL.
Defining an url-template tag in the url-template-config.xml file does not work as the queryString parameter is mandatory.
So I am looking for a solution too...

  • Problem with images in content management portlet

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to use the content management portlet provided with Bea WLP 8.1 SP4, but I've a problem with the images (they're not displayed at all, only a lot of red "X"s). Some how it seems to be a problem with the Taglib render. It tries to get the resourceRootPath to post it in front of the src path in the image tag and it always includes the parameter that are in the URL.
    I followed the instructions in the help of workshop, so I think I've imported every needed files. Moreover, the images are in the right folder tree. The wired thing is, that the My Content Portlet works fine.
    Any help for a newbie???
    Cheers,
    Cord

    Hi Cord,
    I was having that same problem, and I couldn't find anything on this website either. I tried creating a new portal project and following the directions exactly again, but it didn't work there either. It works in the sample portal.
    So I contacted BEA Support, and they were able to provide me with a solution:
    The file url-template-config.xml (in the WEB-INF directory) has to be modified and have the {url:currentPage} parameter removed in order to get the images working for the content management portlet. For now, do this only in the section <!-- URL templates -->. Leave the other places like in WSRP etc as it is.
    I actually took it out of the WSRP places too, by accident, but I don't use WSRP anyway, and everything else seems to be working fine. And the images show up!
    Hope this works for you too,
    Beth

    Sorry I forgot to add this information to my previous post.
    Please note that I am using RDBMS Authenticator in 8.1 SP2 with oracle 9.2.0
    and the set up is very fine with no problem. Order of the Authenticator
    changed with RDBMS Authenticator as the first one.
    Thanks,

    I've got Portal Server 7 installed on Solaris 10 - SPARC.

    Could anyone show me where are this portlets? I just want to check out PS7 Content Management functionalities.

  • Email in BEA Content Management Portlet

    I would like to send an email when the user check in content and changes status to Ready for approval. How can I do this?

    I would say use content selector. In the query, filter for author's content (here you may need user segment).
    Since content selector are capable of displaying more than one content, you should be able to display all author's content. (Use <pz:contentSelector> and <es:forEachInArray> tags).
    Since you need to do take user to some other page where he can approve/reject. Embed all the content between a <netui:form../> tag implement appropriate action, your jsp should look like below.
    <b><netui:form action="takeAction" >
         <pz:contentSelector id="nodes" rule="classic" />
         <es:forEachInArray array="<%=nodes%>" id="node" type="com.bea.content.Node" >
         <img src=<%=request.getContextPath() + "/ShowBinary" + node.getPath()%> >
         <input type="hidden" name="some-content-param" value="<%=some content param value%>"/>
    </es:forEachInArray>
    </netui:form></b>
    In the next page author will take some action, use email control to send email.
    Thanks

  • Content Management using WLP Vs using a Third Party CM Tool

    Hi All,
    In our Application we have a Workflow which we earlier implemented using WLI and stored the Content in File System ( The Dis advantages with this is no versioning capability , hard to manage the Content etc..)
    Now we are plannning to use WLP's Content Management Capabilities.
    Does the Library Services support a workflow ?? Does Workflow Definitions conform to any standard ?? (Like BPEL etc)
    The Content we have is a set of forms ( XML Based) and are unique for each user Task . Might be using the goal technology to capture the data from the Users..
    I would like to know the pros and cons of using WLP Content Management Features vs Storing the Content in a Full fledged CM tool and accessing it from the Portlets Deployed.
    Features we are looking for are..
    Versioning , Search Capabilities , History info
    Thanks
    Sateesh

    How do I create plan.xml for every env Im not sure what you mean. Use vi/notepad if you want! See the section 'Using an Existing Deployment Plan to Configure an Application' in the link. You simply need to create this plan once with the value you want and you can use the same one with a different path value(the one you want to change) for each environment. Whether you want to create a template plan.xml whose value is replaced by an ant build is upto you.
    Plan.xml is similar to a WLST script, you'd only need to parameterise the actual value you want to use as the path(and you'd have to run both for every deployment) - Im not sure this value is accessible over WLST though..

  • Out of the box porlets for Content Management with BEA Portal

    I am looking at BEA Portal for a simple Intranet site with some basic content management system capabilities. I would like to implement this without the use of a third party tool and wanted to know if there are any open source or out of the box BEA portlets/web-apps with basic CMS capabilities beyond what has been shown in the Portal tutorials around CMS. From doing the tutorials, I have learned how to manage content, and how to build a site from scratch to access the content using the <cm:> tags. However, without additional third party products such as Documentum or Interwoven, is there any free BEA/open source portlets to:
    - Configure exposure of this content in a runtime framework? (ie content manager can expose new content from the repository by a configurable admin GUI, place where this content is on the page)
    - Allow for a simple approval workflow where content that gets added to the repository by user A has to be approved by user B before automatically exposing?
    Interested to know if custom portal type development is the only way to do these kind of simple functions, or third party product.

    Hi,
    Did you have a chance to look into WebLogic Portal 8.1 SP3? Check out the new Library Services features, which includes versioning and simple approval:
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wlp/docs81/adminportal/help/CM_MAN_LifecycleOV.html
    We also provide a few ootb portlets that allow users to interact with the CM system. Let us know if you have additional questions.
    Best Regards,

  • Displaying doc/txt file contents from portlet

    Hi, Can someone pls give a hint on how to do this:
    One "book" type content created, with a doc file uploaded. The "publisher " for
    this content is set to "sams".
    create a content selector which retrieves only this (content) book correctly.
    create two portlets. one portlet with above content selector inserted, displays
    the publisher name with a hyperlink.
    I want the other portlet to display the contents of the file uploaded, for this
    publisher. I could establish portlet comm. and could display other properties
    of the book such as "author/titile" on the second portlet, but want to know how
    to display the uploaded file contents.
    thanks much,
    -developer

    As far as retriving the contents of an uploaded file...
    If your XML document has been loaded into Content Management as a binary
    property, you have two options:
    a) to directly inline the content into the JSP, do something like this:
    <cm:getProperty id="node" name="binaryPropertyName" failOnError="true"
    isMultiple="false"/>
    (This assumes node holds a reference to the Content Management Node
    object (perhaps retrieved via a <cm:getNode> tag)
    b) to retrieve the value into a script variable for more processing, do
    something like this:
    <%
    Property bodyProp= (Property)node.getProperty("binaryPropertyName");
    InputStream in= node.getPropertyBytes( bodyProp.getId() );
    // dont forget to close the InputStream
    String result=null;
    InputStreamReader reader= new InputStreamReader(in);
    StringBuffer streamContents= new StringBuffer();
    char[] data= new char[8192];
    int charsRead;
    while ((charsRead = reader.read(data)) > 0 )
    streamContents.append(data, 0, charsRead);
    result= streamContents.toString();
    %>

  • Help: lost our content area portlet (site)

    On the "Oracle Portal Navigator" page under the "Content Area" tab someone deleted the "Site" portlet. How do I add the "Site" portlet back to the page?
    I clicked on the customize page and tried to find the portlet to add but it is not listed. I then went to the portlet repository to see if it was expired or something but it was not there.
    There is a "Content Areas" portlet that lets you select the content area to go to, but the navigate button takes you back to the "Oracle Portal Navigator" page to the "Content Area" tab.
    The same thing happens when you go to the Admin section of a site and try to see the categories for that site. I can't edit my categories anymore.
    They point to "Oracle Portal Navigator" page showing the "Content Area" tab, which is no longer the site portlet.
    Any ideas?
    Jeff Dalgliesh
    PS I know its called the "Site" portlet because on A DIFFERENT portal server if I click the customize link on the "Oracle Portal Navigator" page under the "Content Area" tab that is the name it shows the Provider is "Oracle Portal" and the portlet is called "Site". IE "Oracle Portal: Site"

    jspContext.sendRedirect(url.toString());
    catch (Exception ie) {
    ie.printStackTrace();
    return true;
    In fact the problem is at the line that executes redirection ... jspContext.sendRedirect(url.toString());

  • Any code samples for inputting content into content manager 8.1?

    Does anybody know where to find code samples of adding content to the Content Manager
    via the Java API?
    The only code I can find is the "Content Manager Example Portlet" and it is 7.0,
    not 8.1.
    It's not clear from the documentation what the Repository and Path are supposed
    to be named. Perhaps we had a working example, this might help.
    Thanks
    Dave

  • Need maximum information about Content Management in Weblogic Portal 10.3

    Hi,
    I have worked with Weblogic Portal before, but it's been some time, I do not remember much and I quickly need to find some info.
    We are making a proposal to a customer and have suggested Weblogic Portal.
    I would like to give as much information about the technicalities of the CMS in Weblogic Portal as possible.
    Could you please answer these questions ?
    I am looking for information on the CMS that is integrated in Weblogic Portal 10.3
    I have already checked the available information on the site :
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13155_01/wlp/docs103/cm/introCM.html#wp1067976
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13155_01/wlp/docs103/portlets/development.html
    I would like to find more information, especially regarding these questions :
    What are the portlets that are available by default in Weblogic Portal 10.3 ? I read about the Content Presenter portlets, which display real-time data.
    Are there other portlets like these ?
    How can i manage the documentation in the CMS ? I have several source of data (databases, Lotus repositories ...) : can i load them into the WLP Virtual Content Repository ?
    What about images ? Do i need to work on a special format to handle them in my portlets ?
    Is it possible to load data coming from XML files into the repository so i can display them on the portal ?
    Thanks a lot for helping.

    BulkLoader is described in the docs here:
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wlp/docs102/cm/bulkloader.html
    As far as portlets go, WLP provides lots of facilities for creating your own portlets, to do exactly what you want them to do. It really depends upon what you want to do.
    If you're looking to display images, also take a look at the personalization features like Content Selectors and Placeholders, which can retrieve an image from the CM system.
    If you're looking to iterate over a set of content, take a look at display templates as a means to control the presentation.
    You may be able to use re-portlets from the WLP Admin tools, though I'm not familiar with the details.

  • An improved Content Presenter Portlet

    I've been working on a site migration project from a content manager to Weblogic Portal, and for the Weblogic Portal site we are planning to use Content Presenter Portlet to show most of the content that already exist on that site, almost all is just text and images, but there is a problem with the usability of the portal, I mean the process to create a new page(desktop) is not that simple for a non-technical user, for example the user has to create the content in the repository organize everything very well and then create the desktop, add the content presenter protlet and then configure the portlet and of course if the author wants to edit the content when the repository has library services enabled he has to follow a large process...chose edit, chech out, choose property, edit, save, check in and finally see those changes(or wait until it is approved)... in the old content manager is not that difficult to do that... so I've been thinking to write some templates for the content presenter portlet that reduces the number of steps, windows and clics for the assistant, and allow the authors to create the content instead of just choosing it, and finally allow the in-line editing with library services enabled.... What do you think about it??? I know this is not a simple task.... but I want to know your opinion.... has somebody tried to do something similar??? any comment is welcomed...

    This is a sample template which explicitly was not implemented to support Library Services. The OOTB sample application in which this template lives does not have Library Services enabled on the repository. You are free to take this sample and modify it to suite your needs, either for learning or to modify to meet your requirements. The template was amply commented so that you can follow the ideas and implementation.

  • Reading Images from DB2 content Manager

    Has anybody have read images from IBM db2 content manager using oracel forms.
    any links will be helpfu;
    or any links to how to make windows API calls in forms 5.0.

    OK, I found Greg's reply and that fixed it, once I played with it a bit.

    display.
    I have set up the dmsbase directory as per the samplePortal, and loaded
    the content.
    The HTML displays, but with errors for the images.
    Here's the select from the portlet:
    <cm:select contentHome="<%=ContentHelper.DEF_CONTENT_MANAGER_HOME%>"
    query="type='page'"
    id="textDocs"/>
    <es:forEachInArray array="<%=textDocs%>" id="aTextDoc" type="com.bea.p13n.content.Content">
    <p><cm:printDoc id="aTextDoc" failOnError="true" /></p>
