Content query using linked property [WLP 9.2]

Hi -
I've set up a content type in WLP 9.2 that consists of three properties:
- linkedDevice (Link-Property -> to Node of type Device)
- linkedTariff (Link-Property -> to Node of type Tariff)
- combinedPrice (Double-Property)
Now I'm trying to get the price for such a combination of Device and Tariff by using the <cm:search> like this:
<cm:search id="prices" query="linkedDevice contains '${device.id}'>
I've made sure that ${device.id} is initialized to contain something like "/BEA Repository/12345" before calling cm:search.
Unfortunately, I've not been able to query for Nodes using the tag libs / API so far - and I don't get any errors in the logs for the com.bea.content.manager.* classes.
Any hints? Anybody? :-)
Thanks,
Alex

Currently we dont support linked property in the metadata search(SQL search). So your search query will not work. But if you want to find out the nodes that link to a particular node, you can use our INodeManager.getNodeReferences(). Please refer to the javadoc of INodeManager for more information.

Thanks very much for any help with this.

* Consider putting parentheses around the 3 oracle tables so the 3 of them can possibly be treated as a unit. Assuming there's some performance impact due to the linked server, this MIGHT help, may do a little joining over on the Oracle side of
the world. In either case, it's a little cleaner. They syntax below, including a few extra line breaks for clarity, should be correct. (try the change to the ON clause suggested above too, though).
The parentheses will not help much. SQL Server will remote (as the term is) the query to the Oracle instance if this appears to have a lower cost and there is nothing the blocks remoting.
On the other hand, OPENQUERY can be an alternative to ensure that this happens:
left outer join
OPENQUERY (linknametooracledb,
'SELECT ...
FROM "M01Tab01_Main" mn
JOIN "M01Tab06_Ord" mt ON mn."Master_Recid_1" = mt."Master_Recid_1"
JOIN "M01Tab09_Dx" mdx on mn."Master_Recid_1" = mdx."Master_Recid_1"') mn on td.visitnumber = mn."Pt_Acct_5"
But this presumes that you there are no columns from the SQL Server side that are used to select data from the Oracle side. That is, the above could lead to far much data being brought across the wire.
Then again, this does not really seem to relate to the original problem where a stored procedure was not working at all. That problem is not very easy to assist with since code post is the not the authentic code as pointed out in the thread. For instance
inner JOIN linknametooracledb."M01Tab06_Ord"
Has nothing to do with Oracle, but accesses a table in the schema linknametooracledb.
I think to help dmcm, you need a really good crystal ball - at least as long he/she does not share the actual code.

• Exposing content nodes as links in WLP 9.2

Hi!
I am a portal 'newbie' with a POC on my hands, in which one goal is to index the content in a BEA Repository with my company's search technology. I have managed to expose the content node i'name' and 'path' properties in a simple web page, but I really need to turn these into searchable links. In other words, I want to traverse a path, extract all nodes, and expose them as links.
Again, my knowledge of CM is limiited here - just can't see how to proceed. Here's the working code I have so far. Any specific code tips would be greatly appreciated!
try {
Node node;
ContentContext ctx=new ContentContext(request);
ISearchManager searchManager=ContentManagerFactory.getSearchManager();
String searchPath="/BEA Repository/BIPIFolder";
Search sch=new Search("contributor='weblogic'");
sch.setSearchPath(searchPath);
com.bea.content.paging.ISortableFilterablePagedList list=searchManager.search(ctx,sch);
com.bea.content.paging.IPagedListIterator iterator=list.iterator();
%>

Content Name

Content ID

<%
while(iterator.hasNext()) {
node=(Node)iterator.next();
%>

<%=node.getName()%>

<%=node.getId()%>

<%
} catch(Exception e) {}
%>
Paul L.

Hi Paul,
I'm not sure exactly what you want to do when a node is clicked upon. Presuming you want to 'expore' that node and its children...
It sounds like you have some minimal rendering code in place, but you need the rendering code to respond to link clicks.
The easiest way to do this is to have your JSP/servlet accept parameters, and have your rendering code pass a request parameter when the link is clicked, indicating the desired node to render when a link is clicked upon. Your rendering code then needs to 'do the right thing'.
There are additional options for rendering nodes aside from that above-- you might want to take a peek at the display templates feature, for example. This feature allows each node type (objectClass) to have its own renderer. So for example, one could display a node of ObjectClass 'Car' by displaying the 'Car' template, and a node of ObjectClass 'Camera' by displaying the 'Camera' template.
It might also be helpful to take a peek at the content portlets sample on dev2dev codeshare, which performs some of this exploring. You can find it at
https://codesamples.projects.dev2dev.bea.com/servlets/Scarab?id=S284

• How to retrieving the content using Links

Hi
Please suggest me how to retrive content using link property.
I have added link property to my Content. and i have added in internal resource path to the Link property.
But my question is how access the page which is linked to my Content.
How can i use it with anchor tag when i want show display the linked page content.
what are tags to be used to retrive the linked content in the page.
I found below line in CM documentation
"These relationships are used by developers in their content queries when retrieving content to display in
your portal."
But i could found how to retrive.
Genarally what technique we use to link an internal resource of our Content management
thanks in advance
Edited by: vamshi krishna on Jun 12, 2011 12:32 AM

It sounds like there may be a misunderstanding about our link property feature.
That feature is not for web hyperlinks. For that you can just use a string property. The links feature is for pointers to other pieces of content.
(from: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13155_01/wlp/docs103/cm/contentTypesCm.html)
"Using Link Properties
You can create properties that allow content contributors to associate content items. Content contributors can link to content within the same or different repositories within the Virtual Content Repository. For example, if you have related content items that are stored in different folders, you can use content link properties to create relationships among content items. These relationships are used by developers in their content queries when retrieving content to display in your portal.
Link properties can also be multi-valued to allow content contributors to link to multiple content items. For detailed instructions on adding a link property, see Define the Properties of a Content Type."

• Issues with Content Query Web Part List Override

I have modified a Content Query web part to show all checked out documents across my site collection. I used this property to get the checked out documents:
<property name="QueryOverride" type="string"><Where><Geq><FieldRef Name="CheckoutUser" LookupId="TRUE"/><Value Type="int">0</Value></Geq></Where><OrderBy><FieldRef
Name="CheckoutUser"/></OrderBy></property>
It fails when trying to view across the site collection and gives this error:
"There is a problem with the query that this webpart is issuing. Check the configuration of this webpart and try again."
However, it works for sub-sites.
Thus, I followed this blog to modify the ListsOverride property: http://geekswithblogs.net/simonh/archive/2013/05/08/increasing-the-number-of-lists-a-content-query-webpart-can.aspx I modified the property to:
<property name="ListsOverride" type="string"><Lists Servertemplate="101" MaxListLimit="2000"></Lists></property>
But now I am getting this response:
This query has returned no items. To configure the query for this Web Part, open the tool pane.
Can anyone tell me what the problem is? I cannot find anything in the ULS logs that would indicate a timeout from the SQL server or any other type of error.

Hi Susan,
According to your description, my understanding is that there is something wrong when you override content query web part property.
As you said, the query override works for sub-site, I suggest you check the data in the parent site whether the data is valid.
Here are some detailed articles for your reference:

• Can a Content Query Web Part (CQWP) be used to filter content based upon a substring of a variable

Folks, I'm a newbie to this forum and to SHarepoint in general - so please be gentle :-)
I'm using Sharepoint 2010 and have content in lists which I want to display based upon certain user attribtes. For example I have a sharepoint LINKS list which contains entries for vaious applications (I'm using the LINKS list as an example, however I'd
like to apply it to many libraries/lists).
Name:UK Intranet - URL:http:UKintranet.com - Description: UK
Name:USA Intranet - http:USintranet.com - Description: USA
Name:UK Contacts list - http:UKPhones.com - Description: UK
Name:USA Contacts list - http:USAPhones.com - Description: USA
My users are split accross AD domains, one for each called UK and others in a domain called USA
What I would like to do in a content query is display items where the users domain (ie UK or USA) is contained in the Description field.
So a CQWP which includes something like "filter when Decription = &userdomian"
I should also add that I am only using basic page editing in a browser and have no access to Sharepoint Designer
Can this be done?
BTW - I know this is a little like Audience Targetting, however I don't have rights to setup audiences and as the information about the audience is already available in the users domain I simply wanted to reuse that.

Hi Peter,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to filter items based on the current user’s domain.
Whether you could access Central Administrator, and create a new user property in User Profile Service Application->Manage User Properties. If yes, create a new user property (assuming it is called ‘Domain’)to store the users’ domain information. If not,
please choice a existing user property that you don’t use to store the domain information, like Department.
Then do as the followings:
Open the page that you want to display the list.
Eidt the page and insert the list into the page.
Insert a Current User Filter web part(Insert->Web Part->Filters->Current User Filter) into the page.
Then edit the Current User Filter web part, and select value to provide: SharePoint profile value for current user: Department(or Doamin).
Connect the Current User Filter web part to the list: Connections->Set filter values to->the list.
Connection Type: Get Filter Values from, click Configure.
Consumer Field Name:Description, click Finish.
I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Wendy

• How to display all the surveys using content query web part

Can you please tell me how to display all the surveys using content query web part in more details? I also created a subsite and multiple surveys in that site. Then, I inserted a Content Query Web Part and select the List Type to be "Survey",
however, it returned nothing. Did I miss anything?

Hi,
OOTB Survey List does not contain any
Content Types and it has the following structure:
Response entry is represented by
List Item
Response entry consist of questions and answers, where Question correspond to
Field and Answer to Item value respectively.
For querying Survey List via CQWP the following properties could be used
BaseType
<Lists BaseType="4">
ServerTemplate
<Lists ServerTemplate="102">
Example
To retrieve all the responses from Survey lists, specify List Type property as shown on picture

• From SharePoint Content Database, Using SQL-Server Query how to fetch the 'Document GUID' based on 'Content Type'

I want to get all the documents based on content type using SQL Server Query. I know that, querying the content database without using API is not advisable, but still i want to perform this action through SQL Server Query. Can someone assist ?

You're right, it's not advisable, may result in corruption of your databases and might impact performance and stability. But assuming you're happy to do that then it is possible.
Before you go down that route, have you considered using something more safe like PowerShell? I've seen a script exactly like the one you describe and it would take far less time to do it through PS than it would through SQL.

• Content Query not producing results when using [Me] filter

Hi
I'm using a Content Query web part and I'm trying to show the most recent document modified by each site user by applying it across the site collection and using the Filter, Modified By [_Hidden] equals [Me]. However, this doesn't seem to work for any user
- the web part is always blank. I have tried different combinations such changing equals to contains, and using the Modified By field etc - nothing gives me the correct results. If I instead take the [Me] out and instead use the "people chooser"
and set to a specific person then I seem to get the results I would expect - however I cannot hard code a given user.
Does anyone know how to use [Me] correctly?
Thanks
