Content Rotator vs. Tabbed Panels

Hey Guys,
I've got the following HTML/Spry content rotator:
http://www.glmmrs.com/temp/contentrotator.html
As it stands now, it rotates by itself and cycles through the
tabs without any problems. If I turn off the "cycle.start()"
function call in the body tag, I can correctly click through the
1-5 tabs and view the content independently without a problem.
However I cannot get both to work together Clicking on the tab
links when the content is rotating throws everything off, and I
haven't been able to get it to work correctly. I have the following
JS which handles the cycling of the content here:
http://www.glmmrs.com/temp/spry/customSpry.js
And the clicking of the panels independently is handled
within:
http://www.glmmrs.com/temp/spry/SpryTabbedPanels.js
So my question is - how can I get these two to work together?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi kfratomatic84,
I'm planning on integrating the content rotating feature into
the next version of the tabbed panels. I've written an extension
for the 1.6.1 version of the SpryTabbedPanels.js that gives folks
the same functionality. Rather than using the rotator I posted a
long time ago, try using this in conjunction with your
SpryTabbedPanels.js and SpryEffect.js:
http://www.shinarp.com/SprySamples/tabbedpanels/tabbed_panel_sample3_files/SpryTabbedPanel sExtensions.js
You can see how to start the content rotating here:
http://www.shinarp.com/SprySamples/tabbedpanels/tabbed_panel_sample3.htm
If you click on a tab while the content is rotating, it
automatically stops the rotation, and you will have to restart it
with a call to tp.start() if you want it to continue.

  • Can Google read the content inside spry tabbed panels?

    I have heard that Google 'might' not be able to read text inside AJAX. Does anyone here know forsure whether they can?
    I have content that I do not want Google to see (it is duplicate copies of other content that I have elsewhere on my site and I do not want any duplicate content issues- where Google just chooses which one to show in its search results). If anyone has any better option for me for how I go about hiding this content from the Google crawler please tell me.
    Thanks,
    YWSW
    P.S. I do not want to have to resort to using frames (such as <iframe>) to hide the content.

    can I assign a robots.txt file to not read spry?

  • Tabbed Panel Alignment

    I'm having a problem with aligning the Tabbed Panel Content
    window. My page has a sidebar containing a navigation menu. This
    menu is about 200 pixels tall. In the mainContent window to the
    right of the sidebar is a Spry Tabbed Panel. When in Design mode,
    everything looks OK When viewing the page in any browser, the top
    of the Tabbed Panel Content window aligns with the bottom of the
    navigator area in the sidebar. If I add content above the Tabbed
    Panel to push it below the navigator everything looks good. How can
    I make the Tabbed Panel Content window appear just below the tabs
    rather than being pushed down to the bottom of the
    navigator?

    There is no such property value for float, see here http://www.w3schools.com/css/pr_class_float.asp

  • Customizing Spry Tabbed Panels

    I am trying to create my very first spry tabbed panel. I have
    a 5 tab panel. Instead of plain text on a colored background, I
    would like to have customized tabs with the text already on them,
    along with a "on mouseover" version. I am actually using it as part
    of my navigation.
    My CSS skills are still young, but in studying the
    sprytabbedpanels.css that dreamweaver automatically creates, it
    appears that there are about 9 class properties all starting with
    .tabbedpanels. It seems to be an all or nothing, so am I correct in
    assuming that if I want to have each of my tabs to be "unique" that
    I need to create 4 more "sets" of these classes? Are there just
    specific ones that I would need?
    I can't find anything online or in my dreamweaver bible to
    help me make heads or tails. Any help or insight would be most
    appreciated.
    Bonnie

    Hey Bonnie -
    .TabbedPanelsContent is
    the class for the content within the tab panel component. If you
    want to change the color for each tab panel content for instance,
    you could duplicate
    .TabbedPanelsContent 5
    times and add a background color to each class. I think the
    suggestion you mentioned would create various styles for each tab
    state. Is that really what you wanted? Just making sure I
    understand the question. :)
    .TabbedPanelsContent1 {
    padding: 4px;
    background-color: #FF0000;
    .TabbedPanelsContent2 {
    padding: 4px;
    background-color: #999;
    .TabbedPanelsContent3 {
    padding: 4px;
    background-color: #CCC;
    .TabbedPanelsContent4 {
    padding: 4px;
    background-color: #CC9900;
    .TabbedPanelsContent5 {
    padding: 4px;
    background-color: #CC9900;
    }

  • Loading Tabbed Panels with the updateContent Util function

    Hey,
    Just wanted to see if anyone has had any issues while running
    ThickBox Javascript and the updateContent function at the same
    time.
    On my site only 1 or the other will work... very confusing,
    as my Javascript skills are minimal. Not sure what the clash is, I
    thought it might be conflicting div id actions not being unique
    enough, but it wasn't.
    Anyone else?

    HI Kin,
    I appreciate your quick reply. Actually I was using your old
    code to rotate my tabbed panels and not the new one you posted. The
    new one from your website works well with regular tabbed panels but
    when trying it with a Spry data, it still doesn't work, the tabs
    doesn't play at all...
    I use the spry:repeat, I don't know if that makes a
    difference.

  • Tabbed Panels Automatic

  • Spry Tabbed panels + Progressive Enhancement and Dynamic Loading of Content With Spry

    Is there any way to combine tabbed panels together with "Progressive Enhancement and Dynamic Loading of Content With Spry"?
    Visit: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/articles/best_practices/progressive_enhancement.ht ml#updatecontent
    And click on the "Using Spry.Utils.updateContent()"
    The 3rd example shows how to use a fade transition whenever the content changes.
    I already have tabbed panels. My menu contains buttons (on tabs) and my Content div contains the panels.
    Tabs code;
    <ul class="TabbedPanelsTabGroup">
              <li class="TabbedPanelsTab">
                   <table class="Button"  >
                        <tr>
                        <td style="padding-right:0px" title ="Home">
                        <a href="javascript:TabbedPanels1.showPanel(1);" title="Home" style="background-image:url(/Buttons/Home.png);width:172px;height:75px;display:block;"><br/></a>
                        </td>
                        </tr>
                   </table>
              </li>
    etc
    etc
    etc
    and the panel code:
    <div class="TabbedPanelsContent" id="Home">
         CONTENT
    </div>
    I hoped i can use the example code from the link into my tabbed panels.
    I thought this code:
    onclick="FadeAndUpdateContent('event', 'data/AquoThonFrag.html'); return false;"
    could be added to the tab code like this:
    <a href="javascript:TabbedPanels1.showPanel(1);" onclick="FadeAndUpdateContent('event', 'data/AquoThonFrag.html'); return false;" title="Home" style="background-image:url(/Buttons/Home.png);width:172px;height:75px;display:block;"><br/></a>
    But the content doesnt fade...
    I know i need to change the header etc.
    The following is from the link:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:spry="http://ns.adobe.com/spry">
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
    <title>Aquo Events</title>
    <script src="../../../includes/SpryEffects.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script src="../../../includes/SpryData.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    function FadeAndUpdateContent(ele, url)
    try {
         Spry.Effect.DoFade(ele,{ duration: 500, from: 100, to: 0, finish: function() {
              Spry.Utils.updateContent(ele, url, function() {
                        Spry.Effect.DoFade(ele,{ duration: 500, from: 0, to: 100 });
    }catch(e){ alert(e); }
    -->
    </script>
    <style type="text/css">
    /* IE HACK to prevent bad rendering when fading. */
    #event { background-color: white; }
    </style>
    </head>
    So i changed my header etc, put the SpryEffects.js and SpryData.js into position and nothing changed...
    Is there a way to keep my tabbed panel (or change as less as possible) and let
    A. The fade work
    B. The loading work.
    The problem now is that it loads all pages instead of only the home. Therefore i wanted this Progressive Enhancement.
    And the fading part is just because its nice...

    It doesnt show in the post but off course i changed this link;
    "data/AquoThonFrag.html"
    into;
    "javascript:TabbedPanels1.showPanel(1);"
    I must say i dont know if this even works...

  • Spry tabbed panels, all content showing on one page, please help?

    Hi there,

  • Tabbed panels repeat region in cms displays 2nd item as a block of content

    Hi everyone, hope someone can help:
    I have a test page live
    http://aegmotorhomes.co.uk/usedtest1.php
    Problem is this-
    I have added a repeat region on my dreamweaver template
    I use Perch CMS as my management for staff to add new items for sale on this page
    I have built a tabbed panels to list the item
    On my CMS it allows me to press "add another" which then adds the tabbed panels again as a new item and the staff input the details
    My problem is the first item works perfect and all tabbs work fine, each item after that doesn't have tabbs and shows all content as one whole block
    I think it is to do with the ID and applies the java file only to item one, thats my guess.
    I have attached code below for my tabbed panels template, .js file and .css file - can anyone shed any light on this issue"

    Can anybody HELP PLEASE PLEASE

    I think I counted three tabbed panels in the markup, each with an ID of TabbedPanels1
    You have only one constructor that makes one instance of the tabeed panels with an ID of TabbedPanels1
    There are a couple of things that create the problem.
    There can only be one ID with the same name in a document, thus the ID's of the TabbedPanels will need to change from TabbedPanels1 for the second and third instances to TabbedPanels2 and TabbedPanels3 (or similar) respectively.
    There needs to be a constructor for each tabbed panels like
    var TabbedPanels1 = new Spry.Widget.TabbedPanels("TabbedPanels1");
    var TabbedPanels2 = new Spry.Widget.TabbedPanels("TabbedPanels2");
    var TabbedPanels3 = new Spry.Widget.TabbedPanels("TabbedPanels3");

  • Tabbed Panel - prevent page content being pushed down

    What is the setting to prevent an open tab from pushing
    content down that is below it. Rather, just have the tabbed content
    be presented above the content on the page. In other words, have it
    behave like a menu bar with drop down boxes.
    Thanks for any replies.

    You're going to have to tweak the CSS so that the
    TabbedPanelsContent is absolutely positioned. Start by adding rules
    like this *after* the tabbed panels CSS, and tweak it from there to
    suit your needs:
    .TabbedPanelsContentGroup {
    position: relative;
    .TabbedPanelsContent {
    position: absolute;
    top: 0;
    left: 0;
    z-index: 1000;

  • Having trouble with dreamweaver cs 6 spry tabbed panels, all content in each tab showes through like

    Having trouble with dreamweaver cs 6 spry tabbed panels, all content in each tab showes through like it was all created on one page, plus mouse over doesnt work on them.
    This started all of a sudden.
    The entire website is a series of spry tabbed panels.
    http://pacificlaser.com/const.html
    if you click on General construction tab things work ok...
    if you click on Machine control tab, mouse over doesnt work and all page content of each tab show through.
    ive been looking for the answer for 4 months with no success.
    Hope a fellow dreamwever-person can help
    Thanks Rick

    You called it: your links to the SpryAssets are linking to your hard drive, not to the files within the folder on the server.
    Correct these links:
    <script src="file:///C:/Users/work/Desktop/Sites/SpryAssets/SpryTabbedPanels.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <link href="file:///C:/Users/work/Desktop/Sites/SpryAssets/SpryTabbedPanels.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    And you should be good to go.

    ps. If you run into more difficulties with the Spry Widgets, take your questions to the Dreamweaver Spry Forum http://forums.adobe.com/community/labs/spry, where they will get quicker attention.

  • Table expands outside of the content area in a tabbed panel - sometimes

    I am using a tabbed panel to create several different views of a database. The system is working pretty well, the only problem I have is that the content for almost all of the tabbed panels extend beyond the right hand end of the content panel. The page is here www.mwlcraftshow.com/gordo.php and you'll see that when you select the "Declined" tab the data shows correctly within the content area, but if you select "Accepted" or "All vendors" the table extends beyond the content panel. I've reviewed the html and css and don't see any difference between the tab that works (Declined) and tabs that don't work (All vendors, Accepted).
    I'd really appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction.
    Thanks

    I see that you are indicating td widths for your tables. If you don't try to dictate widths in tables AND reduce the size of your text, you will have better luck keeping the table on the panel. You might also consider making the live area for the TabbedPanels wider, as well (the whole widget). If you have a limited size monitor, you won't be able to do that.
    The only size you should use on this table is for the table width itself: use 100%, and it will fill the TabbedPanel Content width-wise, and should force the columns to fit (if you take off their widths as I suggested above).
    With tables, absolute width indicators seem only to be a "suggestion" as tables will automatically expand if the content is too much for the content cells. Applying a 100% width for the table as a whole should force the cells to expand down and not horizontally.

  • PHP dynamic content for form list field on tabbed panel

    I have been trying to use PHP dynamic content to populate a
    form list field. Works fine on a regular page, but doesn't seem to
    work (or works very erratically) if the form is on a tab of a Spry
    tabbed panel. Erratically means (as I've observed) the values will
    appear if the list field is the second on a tab but not the first.
    Haven't tried three on a tab... Anyone know if this is supposed to
    work?

    Thank You !!! to both of you above.
    Shant,
    The scheme youv'e proposed makes sense and I had thought of the same before posting the question. I already did a little POC on it but then realised this works if I can use complete list of values of 1st Field to decide the value of 2nd and so forth. But I rather need to know which one among those was clicked. Moreover, my right side list is usually not null when page loads for the first time (bcoz Field name is a path exp).
    Also, the real problem here is that, when I click on different values on the right side of multi-select(already selected values) of 1st Field, allowedValues and Derivation of 2nd should change. That GUI event is not capturable from whatever I've been able to read (onClick is not applicable for MultiSelect, and onChange doesn't serve my purpose, coz I need to know what value was clicked on).
    The solution I thought and implemented was to take the right side of multi-select, into an extra (read redundant), single-select Field. And then have the 2nd multi-select depend on it via Derivation and allowedValues.
    Having two redundant single-selects, isn't the most elegant solution but I can't think of anything better. Any thoughts ???
    If I'm not really overlooking something MultiSelect class should have an extra Property exposed....

  • Adding a scroll bar to tabbed panel content?

    I have set a specific height to tabbed panels and I don't
    want them to expand according to content. Instead I want to add a
    scroll bar to the tabbed panels. How can i do this?

    Sure it's possible.
    Edit the TabbedPanelsContent class in the CSS file.
    Add a specific height to it and then add an overflow:auto;
    rule to it.
    .TabbedPanelsContent {
    padding: 4px;
    overflow: auto;
    height: 200px;
    When styling Spry Widgets, for the most part, just think of
    them as HTML. Add a height and a scrollbar just as you would to any
    DIV.
    Hope this helps,
    Don

  • Tabbed Panel content overflow problem

    Hi everyone,
    I'm a newbie to this, but have successfully used a few Spry
    elements and am loving them.
    My problem right now is that I'm trying to get a tabbed panel
    to work where the panel contents have different amounts of text. It
    works great in IE6 and looks fantastic, but in IE7 and Firefox 2
    the content is visible although it overflows beneath the styled
    content area.
    You can see it here:
    http://www.pranayogacollege.com/yoga-workshops.php
    I imagine it's a simple thing that I've overlooked, but I'd
    be very appreciative if someone could point me in the right
    direction.
    Thanks in advance,
