Content Search and 'Items Matching a Tag' Web Part Not Displaying Results Shown in Preview

Hi
I've been trying to set up both the Content Search and Items Matching a Tag Web Parts with the same issue. In both cases I can create a query which displays the expected results in the Search Result Preview pane but no results are returned when browsing
the page.
I'm a Site Collection administrator
tried viewing the page in IE8, Chrome and Firefox
another user account with Full Control permissions on the site results in the same issue
I've reindexed the site (which has completed as other alterations on the content are now being returned in the normal search results)
I've tried removing and re-adding the offending web parts
The queries in both web parts are pushed back to the most simple possible - ie all documents in the current site collection for the Content Search query and 'Current site collection + Don't restrict by any tag' in the Items Matching a Tag
I haven't touched the display templates or made any other alterations AT ALL - this is a virgin site collection beyond documents in a library
Does anyone have any ideas?

SQL Report Viewer Web Part Not displaying Report

I have just completed updating an old report using report builder 3.0. I have added it to SharePoint Designer but have not replaced the old report file.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!
All I did was export the old report from sharepoint designer to my desktop. Then opened it with Report Builder 3.0- made changes to the report and saved it with a different name (for safety in case i break things) and then upload it back to the same place where
the old report was located using SP Designer. I then went back to the site in sharepoint that is displaying the old report, and changed the URL path in the SQL report viewer to the new report.
Now the SQL Report Viewer web part isn't showing anything (blank)

How to configure search results web part to display results only after a query is generated from user?

Hi All,
I am crawling documents from a file server. I created a new content source and crawled the documents. All documents are crawled successfully.
Then I went to my enterprise search center site collection and created a new result source. I have added the query to use above content source.
After that, on a page I am trying to configure the search results web part to display documents using this result source. Now the problem is:
It displays all the documents that are crawled without searching for anything. I mean first it should not display any results. If a user searches for something , then according to that search it should display results.
Any idea how to do this in the web part? I am using SharePoint 2013 on premise enterprise edition. No code. Totally OOTB.

What did you use for the Query text in the result source?
I could reproduce this issue when I used Query text like: {searchTerms} Path:”http://sps2k13sp/sites/First/Shared%20Documents”
Then I changed the Query to
{?{searchTerms}
Path:"http://sps2k13sp/sites/First/Shared%20Documents"}
, then Search result web part didn’t return results without searching.
So , check your result source, and use the Query like the above(adding "{?...}").

Content Query Web Part not displaying fields

I am using a CQWP to show contents of a document center library in a sibling site. I must be doing something wrong in the WP configuratin because the rendered list on the page only shows the Title field. I have specified the style type to
be Title, Description, and document icon. In the Fields to Display, in the Description field, I entered Description because that is the name of my column. But it is not showing up.
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

I created another test library in the document center, and another test CQWP at another sibling site and got the description to come in fine. I went back to the original document library created by default when I created the Document Center.
I noticed that there are to Description columns - one is a single line text field, the other is a multi-line text field. however, only the single line Description field is what is available to users when they upload a document or edit the properties on an
existing document item. I tried to delete one column or the other, but there is no delete option. How do I delete a column?

Page Viewer Web Part Not Displaying

I've added a Page Viewer to my SharePoint site underneath a Content Editor. When I'm editing the Page Viewer Web Part I can see the page but if I close the Web Part editor the page doesn't display.
If I move the Page Viewer Web Part above the Content Editor it displays but the Content Editor does not.
Anyone have any ideas?

Do you have HTML or a script written in your Content editor? maybe the code isn't properly formatted with proper opening of elements or closing of elements? I'd start there. Also try using the F12 in your IE browser to inspect the HTML the page is displaying.
That might help zero in on the problem.

I want to configure Content Search Web Part to display only the names of lists and libraries inside my site collection. I tried adding Keyword filter "Only return lists and libraries", however it is also returning list items. Any idea on this issue?

Agree with your point. I can't use any code (that is client requirement). Also, still I use, I can't use it in this scenario. I want to display most visited lists and libraries (in last month or lifetime). I can use managed properties such as ViewsLifeTime
and ViewsRecent to sort it If i get the names of lists and libraries. Let me know if this clarifies the question more and you have an idea about it.

Content Search Web Part Has No Results

I have been working on a site for a few weeks now and have been trying to make a simple Image Slider. I have found many tutorials and all are helpful -- except I get stuck at the same part every time. I am trying to use a Content Search Web Part in order
to pull images from a library/list and display them. I go through almost the same instructions every time but my query never shows any results.
I have went in to 'Change Query' and set the following:
Select a query: Pictures (System)
Restrict By App: Specify a URL --> Then changed to mysite/myimagelibrary
I have tried a few things. I have changed the Result Source to multiple different things, including the default 'Recently Changed Items.' I have also tried to put the images in a list rather than a Picture Library. I have also tried MANY different ways of
putting in the 'specific URL.'
I don't know why I can't seem to get results from my query. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,According to your post, my understanding is that you used a Content Search Web part to search images from a library/list , it didn’t display any
Results.
Please check which content type you used for these images . Maybe its content type is document rather than picture. Please make sure your images’ content type is picture.
You can go in to 'Change Query' and set the following:
Select a query: Items matching a content type(System)
Restrict by App: Current site
Restrict by content type: Picture
As you have mentioned in your description “Specify a URL --> Then changed to mysite/myimagelibrary”.

Error while deploying app - matching end-tag " /web-app "??

Hi,
I am trying to deploy my ear file to Weblogic app server 8.1 through the console. On deploying, it gives me the foll. error message:
Exception:weblogic.management.ApplicationException: Prepare failed. Task Id = 0
Error: [HTTP:101179][HTTP] Error occurred while parsing descriptor in Web application, <b>org.xml.sax.SAXParseException:
The element type "web-app" must be terminated by the matching end-tag "</web-app>".</b>
at weblogic.apache.xerces.parsers.DOMParser.parse(Lorg.xml.sax.InputSource)(DOMParser.java:271)
But my web.xml file has the element tag web-app properly ended. I don't see any problem with the web.xml file. Can anyone please tell me what could be the problem here.

Will you type all the elements in the some other notepad which were in web.xml file ,delete the old web.xml file and save the file as web.xml and try to deploy the application again ?
Note:If you feel that no errors in web.xml file ,Open the web.xml file in Internet Explorer then it will show the errors if you hava any.

How do I get a web part to display items from a dropdownlist?

I have a DropDownList that am filling with items from a list. The part of my code that am using to read the list and populating the drop down works just fine. I am now trying to figure out how to display the contents of the drop down on a web part. I know
it sounds like a straight forward and easy thing to figure out, but I have blanked out. Does anyone have a snippet I can take a look at? This is how I am currently reading from a list to create the drop down...

UPDATE: My dropdownlist is a web part property. So when editing the web part, the drop down control appears in the web part property. Now that part is working just fine. The part am having an issue with is, the second part of my requirement is that I want
to display that same information within the drop down on the web part. Not as another drop down, but just to display them as a vertical text list on the web part.

Trending Tags web-part in sharepoint 2013

I've added Trending Tags web-part on my application page. Whenever I post a #Tag from wall , it takes around 1 day to reflect in trending-tags web-part. Also , it shows "2 uses in the past week". I have configured the search properly , with incremental
crawl..
The issue is - a) How trending tags work ?(any timer-job or any other configuration stuff)..b) Why it shows "2 uses in the past week" even though it is used by a single user..

Show all items in data form web part when no filter value

I have connected a XSLT list view web part with a data form web part.
The list view web part sends the connection parameter and the data form web part filters the corresponding content.
I need the data form web part to show all the data in the list when the connection parameter is empty.
Please let me know how i can implement this.

Based on your description, you might want to download items as well as documents from a ListViewByQuery web part.
There is no such API in both SharePoint Object Model or Client Object Model can help to access a ListViewByQuery web part in a page directly like what we can do to
a list/library, I would suggest you query/download data from the source library using SharePoint Object Model if the query or filter condition in the ListViewByQuery web part is available to you.
If there is need to do the job against the ListViewByQuery web part directly, a workaround is that we can use JavaScript to gather the data needed(such as item id,
file URL) from HTML source of the web part in a page, then download the related documents to the local machine using Server Object Model.

Danger of activating MySite Host to have Trending Tags Web Part

Hi all,
I need to use the Trending Tags Web Part on a site outside of a My Site. I referenced this article, but am hesitant to active the MySiteHost feature since we already have My Sites configured:

Cannot create mysites from powershell: Original XSLT List View Web Part not found

I have a bizarre problem in my SharePoint 2013 farm. This does not occur in my test farm, only in the farm we were going to go live with.
I'm on windows Server 2012, SQLServer 2012 SP1, SharePoint 2013 April CU. 1 appserver/centraladmin server, 2 web servers.
When I log into our mysitehost and click newsfeed, it will create a mysite (even though first it displays "we are sorry there was a problem creating your site")
But from powershell, whether I use $UserProfile.CreatePersonalSite() or New-SPSite, I get the following error:
Original XSLT List View Web Part not found
So far I've only found one other person with this:

This is a brand new farm, created with the same scripts I created my test farm with, and same version of SharePoint. Only the service accounts are different. (Farm account has admin on the servers right now since I was setting up profile service).
Some other errors from the same correlation ID that look related:
It can't seem to find the listemplate 101
And something looks wrong with the MySiteDocumentLibrary feature
I have tried the following:
1. run psconfig.exe on each server
2. install-spfeature -AllExistingFeatures
3. looped through the directory under Features and for each called Install-SPFeature $dirname -Force
4. uninstalled and reinstalled MySiteDocumentLibrary feature
5. blew away the whole farm (removed all servers from farm, deleted all databases) and recreated it.
6. tried creating the UPA from the CentralAdmin gui.
The only real difference I can think of between the working farm and non working farm is, I installed the working farm using RTM, then as they came out added the March PU and April CU. For this farm I installed RTM and March and April, and then ran my build
farm script.
I am at a loss. What do I need to do, re-install the binaries? That's all I can think of. What I love is that our test / POC system worked fine, and now 2 weeks before go-live I'm seeing errors on the production servers I've never seen before. Using the
same scripts no less.

I've had other problems in this farm: the bug where when you add Administrators to a Search Service via the Manage Service Applications page, it removes the SPSearchDBAdmin role from the search service process account. That one did not happen in the other farm.
At least other people have that one and I could just use the farm admin instead (still troublng of course).

Here is the problem:
When creating a mysite from powershell or script, apparently you can ONLY do this from a wfe (or a server running Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application in services on server).
You CANNOT create mysites from script on your appserver if it is not also a Web Application Server. I confirmed the same is true in my test farm. I guess I was always running most of these scripts on the webserver.
I searched all over and cannot find this documented anywhere.
Who do I contact to have Microsoft document this?
