Continuously get a value in order to autofill a text box.

I am creating a type of KPI scoreboard that will tell the user what type of level they are currently operating in depending how they respond to four questions.  I have set it up so that:
Column 1 = Strongly Disagree = 0
Column 2 = Disagree = 1
Column 3 = Agree = 2
Column 4 = Strongly Agree = 3
I figured out how to calculate the sum of the check marks which shows up instantaneously.  My problem is that the Level Description associated with each sum does not continuously update like the sum does.
When the sum is 0 "Not Started" shows:
But when I change the box selection, the sum changes but the words don't:
Not until I go back into Properties and re-run the JavaScript does it change:
Here is my current code:
// custom variable name for the level description
// establish the name of the sum field
var cSum = 'EESUM';
// get the value of the sum field
var nSum = this.getField(cSum).value;
// set level description
if(nSum == 0) event.value = "Not Started";
else if((nSum > 0) && (nSum <= 4)) event.value = "Beginning";
else if((nSum > 4) && (nSum <= 6)) event.value = "Learning";
else if((nSum > 6) && (nSum <= 8)) event.value = "Performing";
else if((nSum > 8) && (nSum <= 11)) event.value = "Achieving";
else if(nSum == 12) event.value = "Excelling";
// end of script
Please help me find a way to continuously update the text box.  Is a while loop needed?

The code is fine. It seems to be a field calculation order issue. You need
to make sure that the score in words field is calculated after the score in
numbers fields.

  • How to get ALL values as default for  a drop down box in JSF

    Hi,
    I have a drop down box in JSF page which retrieves values from LOVCache.java. I have values like Company, Client, User, ALL in the drop down box.
    By default blank value is selected for the drop down box. I want to make ALL(which retrieves data for all the values) as default value for the drop down box.
    Could any body help me? Any help must be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Aseet

    Thanks Nikhil. But I am fetching the values from the LOVCache.java.
    I am using <af:selectManyChoice>. Is there any way I can use LOVCache.java value for selecting default values instead of hard coding?
    I mean to say can I write
    unselectedLabel="#{LOVCache.entityTypeSelectionList.anyValue}"
    where LOVCache.entityTypeSelectionList is used to populate the drop down box.

  • ADF 11g + How to capture the value of a dynamically created input text box

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement where, on selection of the value in a drop down, the input text boxes need to get dynamically populated on the JSPX page. I'm able to bring this functionality, and it is working fine.
    But the challenge right now I'm facing is that, how to read/capture the value entered in those dynamic text boxes on submission of the page. Please help me in getting this resolved.
    Below is the code snippet I'm using for this.
    // Clearing the existing input fields in the Panel form
    while (pf100.getChildren().iterator().hasNext()) {
    pf100.getChildren().remove(pf100.getChildren().iterator().next());
    // Creating the new fields based on the number of IP addresses selected
    for (int i = 0; i < iIPAddress; i++) {
    RichInputText pcPreferredDomain = new RichInputText();
    pcPreferredDomain.setLabel("Preferred Domain / Hostname for Desktop PC/ Laptop - " +
    (i + 1));
    pcPreferredDomain.setColumns(40);
    pcPreferredDomain.setId("pcpfdomain" + (i + 1));
    pf100.getChildren().add(pcPreferredDomain);
    Thanks All in Advance,
    Thanks & Regards,
    Dharmathej M

    As per your method, you are creating the RichInputText components as local variables.
    What happens when you are creating them as class level variables in the managed bean, if you do so, you can refer to the values of the UI components in the actionListener/action code for the command button in the managed bean
    sample:
    public class ManagedBean{
    RichInputText [] pcPreferredDomain;
    public ManagedBean(){
    // Clearing the existing input fields in the Panel form
    while (pf100.getChildren().iterator().hasNext()) {
    pf100.getChildren().remove(pf100.getChildren().iterator().next());
    pcPreferredDomain = new RichInputText[iIPAddress];
    // Creating the new fields based on the number of IP addresses selected
    for (int i = 0; i < iIPAddress; i++) {
    pcPreferredDomain[i] = new RichInputText();
    pcPreferredDomain.setLabel("Preferred Domain / Hostname for Desktop PC/ Laptop - " +
    (i + 1));
    pcPreferredDomain.setColumns(40);
    pcPreferredDomain.setId("pcpfdomain" + (i + 1));
    pf100.getChildren().add(pcPreferredDomain);

  • Get the value from dropdown list (selectedIndex) and text field -- not working

    Hi All,
    I am trying to find and change by the values selected by user using dropdown and text field. Here is the code.
    ChangeRevDetails();
    function ChangeRevDetails(){
              var myDialog = app.dialogs.add({name:"Enter copyright information"});
    //    var monthlist = col1.dropdowns.add('myList', undefined, myList);
              var col1 = myDialog.dialogColumns.add();
              var col2 = myDialog.dialogColumns.add();
        col1.staticTexts.add({staticLabel:"Month:"});
              col1.staticTexts.add({staticLabel:"Year:"});
        col1.staticTexts.add({staticLabel:"Rev. no.:"});
        var myList = [ "January", "February",  "March", "April", "March", "April", "May", "June", "July", "August", "Sepetember", "October", "November", "December" ];
         var myMonth = col2.dropdowns.add({stringList:myList, selectedIndex:0, minWidth:100});//{minWidth:100});
         var myYear = col2.textEditboxes.add({editContents:"2013", minWidth:100});
         var MyRev = col2.textEditboxes.add({minWidth:100});
        var RevMonth = (myList [myMonth.selectedIndex]);
        var RevYear = myYear.editContents;
        var RevNumber = MyRev.editContents;
        var RevToReplace1 = RevMonth +", "+ RevYear;
        var RevToReplace2 = RevMonth +", "+ RevYear + " Rev. " + RevNumber;
        var myResult = myDialog.show();
            if(myYear.editContents == "") //entry is ""
            alert("Please enter some text into the contents field.");
            ChangeRevDetails();
            else if(myResult == true) //user entered datas
                alert (RevMonth);
                alert (RevYear);
                alert (RevNumber);
                alert (RevToReplace1);
                alert (RevToReplace2);
                app.findGrepPreferences = NothingEnum.nothing;
                app.changeGrepPreferences = NothingEnum.nothing;
                // grep find/change
                app.findGrepPreferences = app.changeGrepPreferences = null;
                app.findGrepPreferences.findWhat = "[\\l\\u]+?\\s?\\d{4},?\\s+[\\l\\u]+\\.*\\s+\\d+";
                app.findGrepPreferences.appliedParagraphStyle = app.activeDocument.paragraphStyleGroups.item("Back page"). paragraphStyles.item("Legal_7/9");
                app.changeGrepPreferences.changeTo = RevToReplace1;
                app.changeGrepPreferences.appliedParagraphStyle = app.activeDocument.paragraphStyleGroups.item("Back page"). paragraphStyles.item("Legal_7/9");
                app.activeDocument.changeGrep();
                app.findGrepPreferences = NothingEnum.nothing;
                app.changeGrepPreferences = NothingEnum.nothing;
        else //implies user clicked cancel
        myDialog.destroy();
    The problem is, it is not taking the value which the user selects from the dropdown and the text field. It takes the default value as "January" and the year is "2013" as both of these values are given as selectedIndex:0 and editContents:"2013". I have compared the coding with some other working scripts as well, but it is not working. I have added several alert boxes to check the value we get.
    Also, the find and change is also not working. Please help me on this. Thanks.
    Regards,
    Muthuraj. D

    Change the order for dialogresults:
    var myYear = col2.textEditboxes.add({editContents:"2013", minWidth:100});
    var MyRev = col2.textEditboxes.add({minWidth:100});
    var myResult = myDialog.show();
    if(myYear.editContents == "") //entry is ""
    alert("Please enter some text into the contents field.");
    ChangeRevDetails();
    else if(myResult == true) //user entered datas
    var RevMonth = (myList [myMonth.selectedIndex]);
    var RevYear = myYear.editContents;
    var RevNumber = MyRev.editContents;
    var RevToReplace1 = RevMonth +", "+ RevYear;
    var RevToReplace2 = RevMonth +", "+ RevYear + " Rev. " + RevNumber;
    didn't have a look for the find change problem

  • How to get a formula from the user from a text box in a webpage

    Hi. I would like to know how to get the formula from the user who enters in a textbox. This formula can have any number of variables starting with a and goes on.
    The complexity of the formula can go upto sin, cos, ln, exp. Also user enters the minimum and maximum values of these variables. Based on a specific algorithm (which I use) I would calculate a *set of values, say 10, for each of these variables, substitute in the formula and based on the result of this formula, I select ONE suitable  value for each of the variables.
    I don't know how to get this formula (which most likely to be different each time) and substitute the values *which I found earlier.
    Kindly help me out in this issue.
    Thanks

    The textbox is the easy part. It's no different than getting a String parameter out of an HTTP request.
    The hard part is parsing the String into a "formula" for evaluation. You'll have to write a parser or find one.
    Google for "Java math expression parser" and see what you get.
    Or write your own with JavaCC.

  • How to get a value from an object

    Here is the concept of something I want to do in PowerShell:
    $exp = get-process explorer | select *
    $pms64 = get_value( $exp, PagedMemorySize64 )
    As I see it, the value would be available to use.  Using that technique I could get other values then order them to write to a log file.
    How should I do this?
    Please make the answer as simple as possible.  What search term can I use to find a tutorial on this topic?

    Hi,
    Here's a simple way to get at a single property:
    $pms64 = (Get-Process explorer).PagedMemorySize64
    $pms64
    For the purpose of writing to a log file, you'd be better off piping the object through Select-Object to get the properties you're interested in and then into Export-Csv or Out-File to create the output.
    Get-Process explorer |
    Select-Object -Property Name,Id,PagedMemorySize64 |
    Export-Csv .\explorerStats.csv -NoTypeInformation

  • PPR event getting previous value

    Hi
    There is a PPR event on a standard text box. I am handling PPR event in my custom CO. Whenever I change the value abd tab out of the text box I get the previous value not the current(changed) value.
    ExpenseReportLinesVORowImpl expensereportlinesvorowimpl = (ExpenseReportLinesVORowImpl)expensereportlinesvoimpl.getCurrentRow();
    please help
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Here are three different ideas:
    (1) Copy the current row into a local RECORD variable inside the loop.
    (2) Do a self-join in the query, so that the cursor itself has the previous and current rows. (If necessary, use the analytic ROW_NUMBER function to number the rows so you can do the self-join correctly.)
    (3) Use the analytic LAG function to copy the necesssary columns from the previous row in the query.

    i think normally u will get data from databsae as objects.they are like java beans having getter and setter methods.so you create a collection of those objects like collect all the objects coming from database into an arraylist or....
    suppose you want to populate the dropdown box with say "username" from database object s, your code will look like that
    <html:select property="name">
    <html:options collection="databaseList" property="username" />
    </html:select>
    "databaseList" is collection(say.. ArrayList) of objects you are getting from database.this dropdown will contain all the "usernames" you are getting from database.

  • Service order with blank short text

    Hi all,
    In my case Service orders are getting generated from sales order and the short text of the service order is the material description in the sales order line item.This is the standard behaviour.
    Now the client wants short text should be blank and they will key in the text later.Means order has be created with no data in short text.
    I have tested with exit IWO10009 and its not catering my needs.Is there is any other exit which whips the data in the shorttext while saving of the order.

  • How to change a value of input text box into uppercase?

    Hi all,
    In my use case I should have a text box in the jsf page and I should store the value that is entered in the text box in a database.
    The requirement is the value which user enters in the text box should get changed to Uppercase
    before getting saved in the database. Kindly help me in achieving this.
    Thanks,
    Phanindra.

    hi user,
    before asking any question.
    right place to search anything is google (the ocean).
    so the way. chris showed.
    if i understood correctly means,
    if you want change any input text into uppercase means :
    use some skinning : -
    <af:inputtext>
    contentStyle = "text-transform:uppercase;"
    </af:inputtext>
    Or
    else
    are you looking for
    while given inputtext saved into db.
    Use something like this in as vo for each and ever attribute,
    public void Desc(String value) {
    setAttributeInternal(DESC, value.toUpperCase());
    }

  • Assigning Value to text box which is in another form

    i have got created on form with link buttons, on click of these link buttons it will take me to another page which has got matrix, on double click of this matrix the value should be assigned to a text box in previous page, can any one tell me how to do it. it's very urgent.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Jayanth

    Hi Jayanath,
    I am putting a code that I am using to put values between different forms.
    You will need to Change the String "FormID" with your own ID that u assigned to the form while creating. Also change "TxtControl"  with your textbox ID. This might not be the exact solution to your problem but by manipulating it a little you will be able to do it.
    Dim MatrixValue as String
    oTextBox = CType(SBO_Application.Forms.Item("FormID").Items.Item("TxtControl").Specific, SAPbouiCOM.EditText)
    oTextBox2 = (SAPbouiCom.EditText)oMatrix.Columns.Item("ColumnID").Cells.Item(SelectedRowNo).Specific
    OTextBox.Value = OTextBox2.Value
    Hope it Helps

  • How can i set the dynamic text box to show variable value?

    In AS2, I can make a dynamic text box set a var name, when i
    use button set/change the var value, this textbox can show the
    value also.
    but In AS3, dynamic text box can't add var name. than how can
    i do it now?

    Set an instance name for the dynamic textfield. Then, to
    populate the textfield with the value of a variable, use:
    textFieldInstanceName.text = variableName

  • Has anyone been able to get a mouse scroll wheel to work with a scrolling text box in authorware?

    Has anyone been able to get a scroll wheel to work with a
    scrolling text box in authorware? Is there any way to attach the
    hardware of a scroll wheel to a scrolling text in a piece? Sure
    would make things easier for the reader.

    I doubt it. Maybe using the WinCtrls.u32? But after a few
    tries years
    ago (before the WinCtrols.u32), I'd pretty much given up.
