Control instantiation
Hi!
I have a question about process instantiation: We are going to run some
performance tests comparing our current workflow engine with WLI. Since
we're going to test asynchronous processes we're going to log the
performance on the server side using callbacks to notify a front-end Web
Service when the process finish (or arrives to another state of interest).
I'm using a process control in this Web Service.
Here are the questions:
- When is the process instantiated?
- Is the process runtime instance created at the same time as row(s) in the
database?
- Do you have to arrive to the starting point to create a process instance,
or will the instance be created when the Web Service instance is created
(the control)?
My concern is that we're measuring more than only the process instantiation
when we compare the products ...

Integrating custom ActiveX control with SapGUI
Hi everybody
I'm in the process of writing a custom MFC based ActiveX control written in C++ that we want to use in a product. I am currently at the point where I can instantiate the control and interact with the various methods that it exposes but I have a problem integrating the control more tightly with the SapGUI e.g. change of colors, fonts etc.
I want to make the control to reflect the user changes when the user modifies any settings of the SapGUI. I've tried catching various events that are exposed by some of the dictionary classes such as cl_gui_props_consumer=>color_change/global_prop_change and cl_gui_resources=>resources_changed but these events only fire in my control once the PAI of the client program that encapsulates the control fires which is hardly appropriate since it means that the control will have to wait for user input before it will change reflect any changes in user settings.
I've written a test program for my control and when I change my SapGUI colors the rest of the controls etc on the screen do change color but my control only change color once I've performed some action that fires the PAI. Personally I think the controls written by SAP intergrates with the SapGUI through some interface that is called behind the scenes by the SapGUI since the GUI will have some way of knowing the set of ActiveX controls instantiated inside it and I cannot find any event in the ABAP controls framework (e.g. CL_GUI_OBJECT, CL_GUI_CONTROL) that will allow this type of integration. I'll be digging for the answer but any suggestions will by greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for any help.
Kind regards
Ettienne HugoHello Ettienne Hugo,
To get the SAP GUI Theme or font changes events you need to add your MFC application or ActiveX MFC dll into u201CSAP Configuration->Application Tab->Addu201D and u need to call the functions SapHookInit and to stop getting the change events u need to call SapHookExit.(sapfhook.dll provides these functions)
I tried with exe, never tried with ActiveX MFC dll/ocx. With EXE it works.
Thanks and Regards,

Why have getInstance methods?
Can anyone please explain what is the purpose of a getInstance method.
If a class is abstract and cannot be instantiated why does the class allow you to make an instance of it by using a getInstance method. I find this concept very confusing.
CheersTo control instantiation. E.g. for singletons, or factories, or like this
public class RestrictedValue {
private RestrictedValue(int i) { // can't be called by anybody else
static RestrictedValue getInstance(int value) {
if (value > 0 && value < 128) {
return new RestrictedValue(value);
} else {
return null;
}Not the nicest code, but you get the idea. -
RemoveChild error with Viewstack
Every time I create a ViewStack, add two panels to the stack,
and then add a state which removes a child from the second panel, I
get a null reference error.
Code:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<mx:Application currentState="Test" xmlns:mx="
http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml">
<mx:states>
<mx:State name="Test">
<mx:RemoveChild target="{lbl2}"/>
</mx:State>
</mx:states>
<mx:ViewStack id="vstack" width="500" height="400">
<mx:Panel label="1" width="100%" height="100%">
<mx:Label id="lbl1" text="Label"/>
<mx:Button id="btn" label="Next"
click="vstack.selectedIndex = 1;"/>
</mx:Panel>
<mx:Panel label="2" width="100%" height="100%">
<mx:Label text="Label" id="lbl2"/>
</mx:Panel>
</mx:ViewStack>
</mx:Application>
This does not occur when only one panel is used, or when
removing a child from the first panel. Why is this, and how do I
get around it?
Thanks,
AaronBut be aware that that defeats a very important feature of
containers, and will slow down the initial load/display of your
application.
Flex gives you methods for fine grained control over
instantiation. Controlling instantiation is somewhat advanced, but
remember it because someday you will revisit to this.

Programmatic instantiation of 'controls'
I' trying to programmatically test my controls but ...
I have a java control project containing a control. I have a web project running
cactus. I have a test case instantiating programmatically the control using
MyControlBean myControlBean
= (MyControlBean) java.beans.Beans.instantiate( null ,"controls.MyControlBean").
When it runs the URLClassloader generates *** ClassNotFound *** for controls.MyControlBean.
The control does exist with the libraries tab in a jar as expected. I haven’t
changed any class loading options. If I export to an ear the jar exists within
APP-INF/lib as expected. n.b. the compile path seams to be okay!
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks JohnI can't find the instance I was thinking of, so I might have misremembered that and 'lot' is definitely wrong.
I did find example where protected inner classes are used though, for example the AccessibleJComponent uses it a lot and another one I used to fix a bug in JTree :
public class CustomJTree extends JTree {
@Override
protected TreeModelListener createTreeModelListener() {
return new CustomTreeModelHandler();
protected class CustomTreeModelHandler extends TreeModelHandler {
@Override
public void treeStructureChanged(TreeModelEvent e) {
super.treeStructureChanged(e);
if(e != null && e.getTreePath() == null) {
// the default JTree does not clear the cached expanded paths
// when the root is set to null (and event path is null)
// Looks this fix did not consider null

Controlling an instantiated MovieClip's animation from it's Class
Hi all
Say if I have a MovieClip, that gets instantiated on a Class like this:
var myMC:MyMC = new MyMC();
addChild(myMC);
And that MovieClip has a class that looks something like this:
package{
import flash.display.MovieClip;
public class MyMC extends MovieClip{
public function MyMC(){
stop();
This myMC is an animation, which has a series of Labels in the timeline. However, there aren't any actions in the timeline, because in MovieClips that have custom classes that get added to the stage, I find that the actions in the timeline get ignored.
So if I want to play the animation for a sequence, and stop it when it reaches a label, the only way I've ever got this to work is to add a bunch of listeners to the MovieClip's class, like this:
public function playAnimation():void{
gotoAndPlay("animateIn");
addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, animateInHandler);
private function animateInHandler(e:Event):void{
if(currentLabel=="stopAnimateIn"){
stop();
removeEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, animateInHandler);
This seems like a giant pain to do, especially when you start talking about more than 10 animation sequences in 1 MovieClip, and dozens of hese MovieClips on screen.
Is there an easier way to do this? Any help is always appreciated.
Thanks
ChrisI find that stop scripts in a movieclip work fine. I literally copied and pasted your scripts into a test movie/AS file, and put in a tween in the movieclip in the library, and could play from anywhere, and teh stop action would stop it from continuing.
If that doesn't work out for you, you might search for addFrameScript in Google. With that you can add a frame script to a movieclip at runtime. -
How do I make the controls on JPanel instantiated from other class visible?
I am using Netbeans GUI editor to create a GUI. It's really terrific....but... I have aJFrame form containing a JPanel. I also have a "panel" class that extends JPanel. I would like to insantiate an object of teh "panel" class and use it as the JPanel in the JFrame. Sounds simple enough.
When I do this, I see the JPanel from my "panel" class gets instantiated and used in the JFrame (yay), but the button and text label do not show up.
The JFrame is in the class/file NewJFrame.java and the JPanel is in the class/file TestJPanel.java. I'm really about to pull my hair out. ;-) Any help would be greatly appreciated...I'm sure it must be something simple I have forgotten to do.

}If you really want to learn Swing, I advise you to put the NetBeans away, and dive into the Sun Swing tutorials where you'll learn to code your Swing by hand. One of the main things that you'll learn -- and likely the thing that is tripping your current code up -- is how to use layout managers in a way that will allow you to flexibly place JPanels and other components where you want them, where they'll resize if need be, and where they'll be visible when you want them to be.
Much luck. -
Problem controlling jsf bean instantiation
Hello folks,
I am working on a project and I hit a hefty road block. I am pretty locked in with the overall process, so I won't be able to change the details of how this is supposed to work. I will explain my assignment, and how I am trying to implement it.
I have a page on which I can select values from a number of dropdowns. As I select values from these dropdowns a ValueChangeListener is triggered which dynamically builds a query string. The url and querystring is assigned to an onclick attribute of a button on the page. That button does a window.open javascript command which loads a page in a new tab/window. When this new page loads, it uses that querystring to to query the database and retrieve a number of records that get thrown into a paginated <t:dataTable>. This works fine the first time around...
The problem occurs when I start opening multiple windows that contain this data table, or if I start modifying the querystring in the url. Whatever manages the bean instantiations starts to mix up the pages and feed the wrong data to the wrong pages.
I realize my description is vague, but I am wondering if anyone else has had to overcome a problem similar to this. We do not have anyone in house that specializes in web development, so I would really like to hear someones opinion on the right way to handle a business problem like this. I greatly appreciate any insight that anyone can offer. Thanks!developerintraining wrote:
Sorry I did not notice the JSF forum BalusC. You have a good point. The bean is longer than request scope because of a t:savestate. However, I don't know that I can get rid of the savestate because then I would have to instantiate the bean and force a retrieve of thousands of rows with every click, such as page numbers on the data table.
Does it sound like I am correct here? If the a new request is created, the bean is re-instantiated and I lose all my data from the table.Split the bean in a session scoped one for the data and a request scoped one for the actions and other request scoped parameters. The both beans can access each other by managed property injection or -less neat- by one of the maps of the ExternalContext. -
Return multiple controls from a JS type view.
Hello All,
I am a novice to SAPUI5 and web development so please bear with me as this could be a very basic question about SAPUI5.
I am trying to develop a simple view (CalcView.js)which is of type javascript. I need to place 8 drop down boxes in this view. I am able to created one of these drop downs using var oPropertyType = new sap.ui.commons.DropdownBox syntax which is populated based on the data received from a REST call.
When I create just one of the drop down and write 'return oDropDown1' at the end of the createcontent method of this view, all works fine and I can see this drop down. Here is where the challenge starts for me. When I now create more than 1 drop downs how do I get them to appear on the page? In this case return statement won't work as I now have to return more than 1 control (drop downs) back.
I have structured my project such that I have index.html which looks like this...
My Application.js looks like this...
jQuery.sap.declare("Application"); jQuery.sap.require("sap.ui.app.Application"); sap.ui.app.Application.extend("Application", { init : function() { var model = new sap.ui.model.odata.ODataModel("proxy/sap/opu/odata/sap/ZCONSUMPTIONCALC_SRV/", true, "VORANIJ", "desktop1",null,true, true); var imgModel = new sap.ui.model.json.JSONModel("model/img.json"); sap.ui.getCore().setModel(model); sap.ui.getCore().setModel(imgModel, "img"); }, main : function() { // create app view and put to html root element var root = this.getRoot(); sap.ui.jsview("app", "view.App").placeAt(root); } });My Appview.js looks like this...
sap.ui.jsview("view.App", { /** * Specifies the Controller belonging to this View. In the case that it is * not implemented, or that "null" is returned, this View does not have a * Controller. * * @memberOf view.App */ getControllerName : function() { return "view.App"; }, /** * Is initially called once after the Controller has been instantiated. It * is the place where the UI is constructed. Since the Controller is given * to this method, its event handlers can be attached right away. * * @memberOf view.App */ createContent : function(oController) { var shell = new sap.ui.ux3.Shell({ appTitle : "Consumption Calculator", appIcon : "img/BG_Logo.png", showFeederTool : false, showInspectorTool : false, showSearchTool : false, showLogoutButton : false, worksetItems : [ new sap.ui.ux3.NavigationItem({ text : "" }) ] }); var view = sap.ui.view({ id : "idCalculator", viewName : "view.Calculator", type : sap.ui.core.mvc.ViewType.JS }); shell.setContent(view); this.oShell = shell; return this.oShell; } });And finally my Calculator view (the one in question) looks like this...
sap.ui.jsview("view.Calculator", { /** * Specifies the Controller belonging to this View. In the case that it is * not implemented, or that "null" is returned, this View does not have a * Controller. * * @memberOf view.Calculator */ getControllerName : function() { return "view.Calculator"; }, /** * Is initially called once after the Controller has been instantiated. It * is the place where the UI is constructed. Since the Controller is given * to this method, its event handlers can be attached right away. * * @memberOf view.Calculator */ createContent : function(oController) { var oPropertyType = new sap.ui.commons.DropdownBox({ id : "proptype", tooltip : "Property Type", width : "350px" }); var oItemPropType = new sap.ui.core.ListItem(); oItemPropType.bindProperty("key", "Characteristic"); oItemPropType.bindProperty("text", "Description"); oItemPropType.bindProperty("enabled", "enabled"); var oFiltPropType = new sap.ui.model.Filter("Group_I",sap.ui.model.FilterOperator.EQ,"PROPERTY"); oPropertyType.bindItems("/UI_Values",oItemPropType,null,oFiltPropType); var oLabPropTyp = new sap.ui.commons.Label("LabelPropTyp",{ text: "Property Type:", labelFor: oPropertyType}); return oPropertyType; } });Any help around this will be really appreciated.
Regards,
JayHi,
Just place the items you want to return in a Container and then return the container, ie a Panel, a FlexBox or a Layout will do

Disk " disk " does not exist or is not instantiated after reboot the server
Hi,
I have one issue with 11gR2 cluster. I have 2 node cluster on CentOS 5.5. I am using HP MSA 1000 storage LUNs and create disk group and volume for RAC setup in openfiler.
The whole setup was running fine but before few days some one has recreate the database [clusterDB] using control file. I can see this from alter.log file of "oracle" user. And somehow one node is not able to up and running.
I have no idea what is going on so just restart both the nodes and storage one by one.
After restarting I can not view my ASM disk from /usr/sbin/oracleasm listdisks.
EvenI can not see the ASMdisk from /dev/oracleasm/disks... also I try to querydisk it showing that "Disk "<diskname>" does not exist or is not instantiated"
From the master node I can see the cluster registry configuration through "ocrcheck -config"
*./ocrcheck -config*
Oracle Cluster Registry configuration is :
Device/File Name : +ACFSDG
from the slave when I run the ocrcheck ...it gives error
PROT-602: Failed to retrieve data from the cluster registry
PROC-26: Error while accessing the physical storage ASM error [SLOS: cat=8, opn=kgfolclcpi1, dep=210, loc=kgfokge
AMDU-00210: No disks found in diskgroup ACFSDG
AMDU-00210: No disks found in diskgroup ACFSDG
] [8]
Any idea what is the cause behind this? There are many errors in $GRID_HOME/log/<hostname>.log file and other referring file. I might be sure that until I enable the ASMDISK/detect the ASMDISK I can not start crs...
Shall I try with restore operation of OCR or replace option in ./ocrcheck...will it usefull?
Let me know if you have already face this issue.
Thanks...

Thanks for your reply.
I have "/dev/sd*" in my both the RAC nodes and on storage machine it was showing as "/dev/dm-*" whenever I run " fdisk -l " command... and I did this through iscsi initiatior and target and also create "Create Persistent Local SCSI Device Names ".
I also create one script "iscsidev.sh" in /etc/udev and it was perfectly working. Before this issue I was restarted the server and confirm it.
script is below

Error with signed applet "class can't be instantiated"
hi,
I developed an applet to make a ftp connexion to upload files from the local disk and the applet is already signed. At first I compiled it with the 1.4 version and I got (from other computers) the error "class not found". Then I used the target 1.1 option and now I get the error "class can't be instantiated"
Do I need any additional code?

Look for "Java (Sun)" (normally near Microsoft VM). I uncheck all the Microsoft VM options but am not sure if that is really necessary.
Also play with Control Panel, you should see "Java Plug-in" in there and be able to configure browsers a bit with that. -

How to instantiate a control in code instead of using Interface Builder ?
I really appreciate the combination of the interface builder and Xcode altogether.
However when I am learning QT, I realize I had been pampered by Apple's Design to a certain extend as I only need to create say a NSLabel instance and use Interface Builder to do the linking and never have to worry about instantiating the Object myself.
But I'm curious, what is the way to instantiate a new hmmm say...NSLabel in the code ?
NSLabel* label = new NSLabel();
Then what ?
What you are seeing here is how QT did it, could anyone create an equivalent in ObjC ? No fancy code please, just bare minimum.
#include <QApplication>
#include <QWidget>
#include <QLabel>
int main (int argc, char * argv [ ])
QApplication app(argc, argv); //NSApplication in ObjC
//These two lines merely created a window and set the title bar text.
QWidget* window = new QWidget();
window->setWindowTitle("Hello World");
QLabel* label = new QLabel(window);//Create a label and inform the it belongs to window.
label->setText("Hello World");
window->show();
return app.exec();

I think my best answer will be something of a disappointment, because I don't know how to show a one-to-one correspondence between the code you're working with and a Cocoa program. The main function of a Cocoa GUI program for OS X will look something like this:
#import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h>
int main(int argc, char *argv[])
return NSApplicationMain(argc, (const char **) argv);
As you commented, we could draw a correspondence between the first statements, but after that the functionality of the Cocoa program is going to be spread out in a way that makes for a rather tedious comparison. The only way I know to answer your question in less than 5000 words, is to skip ahead to one of several points in the startup sequence where the programmer can intervene with custom code.
For example, a common way to get control would be to program a custom controller class and add an object of that class to the main nib file which is loaded during the startup sequence. By making a connection to the Application object in that nib file, the custom object could be made the delegate of the Application object, and if we then added a method named applicationDidFinishLaunching, our code would run as soon as the application's run loop was started.
Now I finally have enough context to directly answer your question, so here is the code to create a label and add it to the key window at launch time:
// MyAppController.m
#import "AppController.h"
@implementation AppController
- (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(NSNotification *)aNotification {
NSLog(@"applicationDidFinishLaunching");
NSRect frameRect = NSMakeRect(150, 300, 150, 30);
NSTextField *label = [[NSTextField alloc] initWithFrame:frameRect];
[label setEditable:NO];
[label setStringValue:@"Hello World!"];
[label setFont:[NSFont labelFontOfSize:20]];
[label setAlignment:NSCenterTextAlignment];
NSView *contentView = [self.window contentView];
[contentView addSubview:label];
@end
If I needed to develop a worst case scenario for this thread, the next question would be, "Ok sure, but your code still needs a nib to start up. I want to see a Cocoa GUI program that doesn't require any nib".
It turns out that it's quite easy to build a simple iPhone app without any nib, but it's considerably more difficult for an OS X app. If anyone wants to see my nib-less iPhone code, I'll be happy to post it (I think I did post it here once before, and the response was underwhelming). But I've never attempted the much more difficult nib-less OS X app. Just in case you really want to go there, here's a blog that goes into the details: [http://lapcatsoftware.com/blog/2007/07/10/working-without-a-nib-part-5-open-re cent-menu>.
Hope some of the above is helpful!

Usage of Apache Beehive JMS control inside Message Driven Bean
Hi,
I am developing a j2ee application using weblogic workshop 10.3. This application contains the following three projects.
- J2EE Utility Project
- Message Driven Bean Project
- Ear Project
In the Utility project I have created one apache beehive jms control. I am using this control inside the message driven bean application. I haven't got any issues during the development and deployment phase with the beehive control. But during runtime the apache beehive jms control is not getting instantiated and the mdb application is throwing the null pointer exception when the EJB container try to execute the methods on the control instance. I have used the declarative programming model to create the control instance inside the mdb application.
I am using the weblogic 10.3 server for testing and I have created the 10.3 weblogic+workshop domain. By default it has the beehive libraries deployed.
Can somebody help me out to resolve this issue?
Regards,
BpYou can get the message directly with getText() method. Following is the snippet of code.
if (aMsg instanceof TextMessage) {
TextMessage msg = (TextMessage) aMsg;
String testMessage = msg.getText());
