Controlling the data formatting in excel using jsp.

Thanks and Regards,

As an aside, "data" is already a plural.  The singular is "datum."

  • Controlling the Date Format

    Hi
A sample web dynpro application displays information regardding Flight information with the flight date.
This application is integrated in portal too.
However, there is a requirement that end user can adjust the date format as yyyy-mm-dd or dd-mm-yyyy or mm-dd-yyyy format.
I changed these options in Windows Regional settings to different values for the short date and long date formats. Unfortunately these changes do not reflect in the iView.
Is ther any setting at the iView when developing the portal content or any other way to allow the user to see the date in the format he likes ? if yes, what needs to be done ?
    Thanks
    Prasad

    Hi Prasad,
Try to use the browser locale setting instead of Windows regional setting.  You can get the browser locale
    setting from the below code
    Locale locale = request.getServletRequest().getLocale();
Then use this locale data pattern and display date formats according to user browser locale settings.
    Hope this helps.

Hi. I wrote a code to read the data from excel. May i know how can i save it to Ms access database using java. Also i have many excels. So i should not connect the database using DSN. So is there any other way to achieve this?

  • Date format in excel

    hi all,
    i am using form6i.
i am writing data into excel sheet(using ole2 package). i have one date column among them. The date format in excel should be in 'DD/MM/YYYY'.
In my form i have date format like 'YYYY/MM/MM HH:MI:SS'. so i have converted that column using
TO_CHAR(TRUNC(:date_col),'DD/MM/YYYY').So i am getting output in the format what i need, but still in excel i am seeing data format as 'DD-MM-YY'.
is any conversion is required while writing into excel?
but when i set the excel data format should be in 'DD-MON-YYYY'
i am getting output as '26-JAN-10' but i want output in excel like
    '26/JAN/2010'.
    Please help.
    Thanks..

If you want the field to be treated like a DATE in excel, you have to set the column-format to DATE and apply the appropiate Format. To get the needed ole-statements, start the macro-recorder, do the changes in excel and then check whats written in the macro and convert it to OLE.
If the field should only be shown as a date, you can put a ' in fornt of the date-value.

  • Display the images in excel using jsp

    Hi
I am unable to display the images in excel using jsp. I can display the data. but cannot display the images. It is simply showing the icon without the image. Is there any way to display the images. Pls give some sample code to display the images in excel.
    Thanks in advance.

Presumably whoever created the images in that Excel document just put links to somewhere on their hard drive. Those links don't mean anything when you put the document on somebody else's computer, which is what you are doing. At least, that is my guess.
You could spend some time looking at the Excel file to see how the images were put in there. Or you could ask the person who put the images in there.

  • How to set first column as date (dd/mm/yyyy) in the specific format in excel

hi need help wat i did need help is tht i need wen ever i send view a excel data  the first column set to date  but some times wen i view in different type of pc the date format change to mm/dd/yyyy. is  thr any way i can set the format?

If you just need to reformat a correct date to show up as dd/mm/yyyy, just use the "Format Cells" command and set a custom format string to exactly that. If, on the other hand, you are finding that Excel just doesn't get that the first value is a DAY, not a month, such as trying to graph a temperature data logger that records data in dd/mm/yyyy:
Reformat the strings as dd/mm/yyyy, using the first method. This will make them LOOK correct, even though the actual date VALUES are still day-month inverted. Now save the table as a .CSV file. This will save the dates as plain text in the correct order, which you can then re-import and have Excel now read the correct date value.

  • Data Validation in Excel used in Format Range

    Hi Experts,
Im just wondering if there's a way i can use format range to carry out the data validation of excel.
i mean, i need to limit the users to enter only numberic data to the input cells, hence they cannot input any letter and negative values.
i tried applying the data validation in format range but, its not spreading the data validation.
if i apply data validation to every cell, when i expand, the data validation disappears.
    Any advise.
    Thanks much as always...

    Hi,
I was not able to use Data Validation in FORMAT RANGE.
If you want to apply this data validation for the whole data range, you can apply this data validation in the first cell of the first row, first column of evdre. It will apply to the whole data range.
If you want to apply this for certain columns, its a bit tricky.
You must break your columnKeyRange into 2 and insert a column in between. In the 1st columnkeyrange, get the data, hide this column alone and add this column in getonlyrange. Next, in the newly inserted columns between the 2 column key ranges, you can use your Data Validation in 1st row. While expanding, it will automatically copy the data validation to the remaining rows. Now, In the second columnkeyrange, get the value based on the data validation cell, hide this column alone. So now you will have 3 columns, with those in the column key ranges as hidden ones and the one in between will be shown to the users.
I know, this workaround is a bit tricky, but it works flawlessly. I have used this for umpteen sheets.

  • List View does not retain date formats from Excel

i am using List View control to isplay data. When i scroll the horizontal bar inlist view, the date format changes to numbers. is there were to stop this happening.
    regards
    Chandra

    Hi Chandra,
Are you getting the values from any live connection or is it static data from the excel file?
You can also try to goto properties of component and in the appearence tab, select the format of the values as "DATE".
Incase you are getting the values from the live connection, you can select a different cell which would reference to the data coming from the connection and use it into the components.
e.g.: if values are coming in cell"A1" then goto some empty cell as B1 and type in"=A1" and use this new cell into the component.
Let me know if this works.
    Thanks,
    Amit.

Please use forums devoted to Javascript. You're here at a Java/JSP forum.
There are JS forums at webdeveloper.com and dynamicdrive.com. Good luck.
    String formatPattern = "yyyy-mm-dd";
    SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat(formatPattern);
sdf.format(yourdate);yyyy-mm-dd denotes year-minutes-days. Please go read the SimpleDateFormat API as well.

  • Dates Format in Promts using Session Variables

    Hi Experts,
I have an issue in controlling date format in prompts using session variable which I am using to set default value.
By default date format is timestamp E.g '2010-12-19 12:00:00 AM'.
As per requriement(s) I customized the date format in Reports as 19-Dec-2010 and I saved it as "System Wide Default for <Date Column Name> "
So, I got desired format in Reports and Date Prompts.
Now, I need to set a default value in Date Prompt. So, in RPD I created a Session Variable which returned me date in
DD-MON-YYYY format. Using follwing SQL :
    SELECT REPLACE(CONVERT(VARCHAR(11), Getdate (), 106), ' ', '-') AS [DD-Mon-YYYY]
But in reports takes this value as string and not Datetime. So i got an error message.
A datetime value was expected (received "19-Dec-2010").
If i do not use above SQL to CONVERT date then default date in prompt get displayed as timestamp format and give me desired results but Formatting looks very odd in prompt
Is this a way so I can persist the [DD-Mon-YYYY] Formatting for default value which comes using variable and still run the report.
Above problem also exist vice versa that is if i SET that session variable and pass the datetime value to server. But there i guess I can use ToDate or some Casting in RPD column expression to handle that. Tell me if i am right ?
    Thanks
    Saurabh

That almost works. I had to adjust the syntax to the following...and then there are other issues doing this.
select cust_no, name,'@{session.currentUser}' from customersMy write-back SQL is this:
UPDATE customers SET NAME='@{c1}',LAST_EDITED_BY='@{c2}' WHERE CUST_NO=@{c0}But I don't want to display the cust_no column to the user. So I hide it in the UI. But if I do that I get the below error during write-back. Apparently sometimes when you hide a column on a direct query (numeric maybe?) the value doesn't transfer over to the write-back. If that's the case, this won't work for me. Hmm...

  • Problem with reading English UK date format in Excel

When I build and debug the rulebase I get the following error: Error in rulebase: "Cannot perform comparison expression on right expression with type number".
The actual problem is that it does not read the date correctly in Excel. I have got the following date comparison >=31-09-2011 in excel. Instead of reading 31st September 2011 it tries to reed as 9th of the 31month 2011...
I have set all language and location, region settings to English United Kingdom (dd/MM/yyyy), United Kingdom but it seems it does not help. In Excel I have set English UK as well.
    OPM version: 10.1.0.27
    Windows 7
    MS Office 7
I had this problem previously but I resolved by changing language or location setting I think, or language for non-Unicode programs. I cannot remember exactly. But this time it seems it does not work. Reinstalling does not work either.
    Can anybody help with this?
What settings OPM uses to read the date?
    Thank you!

Jasmine, you are right 31-09-2011 is a wrong date, I just typed any date as an example and didn't realize that it is an impossible date . We use many dates in Excel in a format dd-MM-yyyy (we do not type in date in runtime).
In the link you have sent it says that "Formatted attribute values based on rulebase region are used".
    Date:
" if your region was set to the United States you would see the following: MM-dd-yy"
"Region set to Australia, which includes the date format dd/MM/yy
Region in our project is set to United Kingdom so the date format should be dd-MM-yyyy.
I have checked that OPM Project Properties Language is set to English (UK) so it should be fine.
The strange thing is that it works fine on other laptops - the date 03-09-2011 is red as 3 September 2011, but on my laptop it is red as 9 March 2011.
When it comes to read the date 30-09-2011, on other laptops is red as 30 September 2011, but on mine cannot make a date as there is no month number 30 so it throws the error "Cannot perform comparison expression on right expression with type number"... What actually happens is that on my laptop OPM reads the dates from Excel in American format.
As I wrote earlier, It was working fine at my laptop as well before reinstalling Windows. I had this problem long time ago again but I was able to resolve it by changing language, region settings in Windows I think.
Now it seems like I have got the same language, region settings in Windows as I had before, my colleagues got the same language, region settings on their machines as well.
Iit seems like dd/MM/yyyy is red fine (UK format), but the format dd-MM-yyyy is red in American format...
What settings should be set in Windows or Excel or maybe somewhere else OPM to read the date from Excel in English UK format dd-MM-yyyy?

  • Incorrect date format in excel reports

    Hi,
Some Activity exported from Activity overview to excel have wrong date format. For example
    Some have 21/04/2008 u2013 Correct
    Some have 13/04/09 u2013 Incorrect
All the dateu2019s in the database seems to be correct like '2008-04-13 00:00:00.000'.
Client is using SAP B1 2005 SP01 PL-48. Is there any know issue?
I tried the same in B1 2007 upgrading the database. All the date seems to be correct when I export it here.
    What may be the reason?
    Any suggestions will be appreciated.

    Hi Gordon,
It took some time for me to verify in the client machine.
I have changed the date format in both Business One and in the regional settings to DD/MM/YY. It seems to be ok however the appearances of date column in excel seems to be uneven.
    04/10/09
    04/11/09
           13/04/09
           14/04/09
           19/04/09
    (Ignore the *)
I think, the problematic dates seem to be exported to excel in the paste special text format.
Any Idea why this is happening?

  • Problem in Date Format when user chages the date format in preferences

I want to generalize my code so that user can change what ever Date format he wants, I will get the date from the page in the format yyyy-mm-dd, and if the Date Format is
set to MM/dd/yyyy in prefernces i need to use MM/dd/yyyy and if the Date Format is set to dd-Mon-yyyy in prefernces i need to use dd-MMM-yy, so my question is how to know what Date format is set in the preference so that i can have all the possible date format for inserting the date
    Thanks
    Babu

    Babu,
The date format in OAF Pages is controlled by profile ICX: Date format mask. This profile can be set at site as well as user level for the individual users to set the Date format.
But I would advice not to go for setting different profile values at user level, because i remember some old threads, where seeded Oracle pages fail, as code their is not generalised to handle date formats.
If your are planning to have this in ur custom page, go ahead, but do check the entire flow is working fine for different values of this profile at user level.
