Conversion problem in xml file

Hi ,
I am updating the table reading an xml file. For the column whose datatype is raw, i read the value as string and convert to byte[] and update the database . I get an error value too large for the column. Is this because I'm converting the byte[] array which was originally put into xml file as string back to byte[] that I'm losing the original value.
Thanks in advance
Poornima

I get an error value too large for the

Can you read plain bytes from the file?

  • Problem validating xml file - jaxb

    hi people, I'm working with jaxb to generate Java source classes from the .xsd schemas that I have. I work with 17 schemas that, a priori, I can't modify. In those schemas there are a lot of types and structures that I can use when creating an .xml file. I've read other threads with the problem of namespaces but as a solution they provide a modification on the schemas. The generation of java source is ok, I've done custoization classes and no problem, but when I try to unmarshal an input xml file I get an error of validation:

    I'm having trouble parsing an xml document that contains XML schema declarations in the root element. I've included 2 snippets, the XML files they're supposed to parse, and their output below. • Issue with Date Conversion when loading XML File into Oracle 10g Database

    Hello all,
    I have the interface shown in the screenshot below. In it, amongst other actions, I'm mapping an XML file element representing a date to an Oracle table column defined as DATE. The source and target columns are highlighted in the screenshot.
    !http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/1565/odiscr275.jpg!
    When I execute the interface, I get the following error message:
    java.lang.IllegalArgumentException at java.sql.Date.valueOf(Date.java:103)
    I'm assuming this refers to the date conversion!
    I've already tried replacing SRC_TRADES.DEAL_DATE with TO_DATE( SRC_TRADES.DEAL_DATE, 'DD/MM/YYYY' ) in the Implementation tab. This function was not recognised when I executed the interface, so it didn't work! The date value in the XML file is in DD/MM/YYYY format.
    I'm guessing that Oracle SQL Date functions don't work in the Implementation tab. Please could somebody let me know:
    1. Which Date Conversion function I could use instead?
    2. Where I can find a reference for the methods/functions I can use in the Implementation tab (if such a reference exists)?
    Cheers.
    James

    Hi.
    Try to change the execution area to staging area. After You change it, write in the mapping box just SRC_TRADERS.DEAL_DATE. When You use TO_DATE, the source field typu should be varchar2, not date (as it is in your source datastore)

  • Problem loading XML-file using SQL*Loader

    Hello,
    I'm using 9.2 and tryin to load a XML-file using SQL*Loader.

    from data.xml everything works, and the contentents of data.xml are loaded into the table.
    Any idea what I'm missing here? Likely the problem is with special characters.
    Thanks in advance,

    I'm able to load your file just by removing the second line <!DOCTYPE databatch SYSTEM "databatch.dtd">. I dont have your dtd file, so skipped that line. Can you check if it's problem with ur DTD?

  • Help: Problems accessing XML file in WebSphere 3.5 Fix Pack 4 on Solaris

    We are having an emergent issue with WebSphere 3. 5 Fix Pack 4 on Solaris 2.6: The WAR file we deployed fails with runtime exception due to the inability
    to access a local resource(XML file) in the converted WAR file's web directory.
    The way we access this XML file is as follows:
    ServletContext theCon = getServletContext();
    URL u = theCon.getResource ("/web/test.xml");
    String newPath = u.toExternalForm ();
    InputStream is = new URL (newPath).openStream();
    The InputStream returned from the URL object is NULL.
    After checked the URL's externalForm string, we noticed that its protocol part is "classloader", e.g. the whole URL string is like "classloader:/opt/...../web/test.xml". However, if we replaced "classloader" with "file", the problem disappeared and the XML file can be read without error.
    Anybody know why "classloader:" in the URL string cause this problem, and what is the solution without changing the URL string?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi,
    Can you try to replace the two last lines with:InputStream is = new FileInputStream (u.getFile());Hope this helps,
    Kurt.

  • Problem reload xml files

    I have a project file that i worked on FCP 6 and wanted to move to FCP 5 app. on a different Pro Mac but when i try to import the xml, it prompts me to "Please choose a Translation Document File". I choose the FCP 6 project file because i wasn't sure what to choose and i get the ERROR: No translation templates matching the selected XML file were found. Unable to import this file.
    any ideas?

    make sure you exported your XML from FCP6 using a compatible XML version (1, 2 or 3) ... version 3 would make the most sense as its the most recent FCP5 compatible version .... don't export using version 4 (the default for FCP6), that one is for transfering projects between different installations of FCP6 only

  • Problem writing xml file using DOM

    Hi,
    I am trying to write a xml file using DOM. I am using xalan 2.5, xerces 1.4.4, jdk 1.3.1 in JRun 3 on windows.
    The code where I get exception :
                   TransformerFactory tFactory = TransformerFactory.newInstance();
                   Transformer transformer = tFactory.newTransformer();
                   transformer.transform(new DOMSource(doc), new StreamResult("pr.xml"));
    I get the runtime error as follows:
    javax.servlet.ServletException: null
    java.lang.NoSuchMethodError
         at org.apache.xml.utils.DOM2Helper.getNamespaceOfNodeDOM2Helper.java:342)
         at org.apache.xml.utils.TreeWalker.startNode(TreeWalker.java:387)
         at org.apache.xml.utils.TreeWalker.traverse(TreeWalker.java:202)
         at org.apache.xalan.transformer.TransformerIdentityImpl.transform(TransformerIdentityImpl.java:343)
    Thinking it is because of classpath, I placed xalan 2.5, xerces 1.4.4 jar files in jrun admin lib directory and in server lib directory as well. Still getting the same error.
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks in advance

    xalan is included in JRun 4. However JRun 3 does not.
    However I tried with the same code in JRun3 in different system. The error is completely different. I understand this is because of different version of files. trying to solve ;)

  • File conversion of complex XML file

    Hi,
    we are trying to collect several IDOCs to a flat file. Therefore I create one message with the following structure:
    <i><File>
    <Message>
    <Segment1>
    <value1>a</value1>
    </Segment1>
    <Segment2>
    <value1>b</value1>
    </Segment2>
    </Message>
    <Message>
    [Same Message body]
    </Message>
    </File></i>
    Each segment should be converted to a new line.
    Unfortunately this structure is to complex to convert it using the Content Conversion of the file adapter.
    Is there any way to solve this problem without using the Append mode of the adapter ?
    Best regards,
    Linus

    Hi,
    thanks for your answers.
    The problem in our case is, that there could be "several messages in one", meaning:
    <i><XML Message>
    <SubMessage1>
      <Seg1>
      </Seg1>
      <Seg2>
      </Seg2>
      <Seg2>
      </Seg2>
      <Seg3>
      </Seg3>
    </SubMessage1>
    <SubMessage2>
      <Seg1>
      </Seg1>
      <Seg2>
      </Seg2>
      <Seg2>
      </Seg2>
      <Seg3>
      </Seg3>
    </SubMessage2>
    ...additional submessages...
    </XML Message></i>
    This structure should be converted to the following:
    <i>L1 [Seg1]: value;value;value...
    L2 [Seg2]: value;value...
    L3 [Seg2]: value;value...
    L4 [Seg2]: value;value...
    L5 [Seg3]: value;value...
    L6 [Seg1]: value;value...
    ....</i>
    The problem is, that I don't know how to map the n elements of m complex elements of an XML message to n*m simple elements (which could be converted by the file adapter).
    Could you see my problem?
    Best regards,
    Linus
