Convert existing Socket programs to work over HTTP

Hello,
I have a server and client program, which communicate through sockets. I want to convert the server program to work as a servlet and use HTTP Connection in the client to connect to the server. I mean to say I want these programs to work over HTTP. I also want to know, how can I listen to a specific port in a Java Servlet? Can anyone please help me on this, and also provide some links to resources on this...
With Regards,
Keshav Prasad

1: Listen on port
You should get your application server to listener to the port.
i.e. tomcat default is 8080 http://localhost:8080
change to listen on the port you require ->see application docs
2: Client http connection
URL url = new URL("http://pc015:8080/hrm/departmentnumemployees"+sessid);
            HttpURLConnection con = (HttpURLConnection)url.openConnection();
            con.setDoOutput(true);
            con.setDoInput(true);
            OutputStream out = con.getOutputStream();
            PrintWriter pw = new PrintWriter(out);
            pw.println(depart);
            pw.flush();
            con.connect();
            BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(con.getInputStream()));
            String res = br.readLine();3: Servlet: put this in method
ServletInputStream sis = request.getInputStream();
            InputStreamReader inr = new InputStreamReader(sis);
            BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(inr);
            // setup writer
            PrintWriter pw = response.getWriter();
            // process
            String name = br.readLine();

  • Webdynpro ABAP called from IView JAVA works over http but doesn't over http

    Hello gurus, like I said in the subject, we have integrated inside our JAVA portal a WebDynpro ABAP and it's working good over http protocol (http://<servername>:<http_port>/irj/portal), but when you browse the portal over https protocol (https://<servername>:<https_port>/irj/portal), everything works fine exept the WebDynpro ABAP, is like if the javascript components didn't be loaded completly, because the buttons doesn't make anything, and only half of the table that is supossed to be loaded is showed.
    Do you know what kind of configuration I'm missing?
    Thanks and best regards

    You have to note here that for webdynpro ABAP applications, the http/https request is actually served by the backend server.
    So, while accessing your webdynpro ABAP application, the request will be like:
    https://<mybackendserver>:<backendport>/bc/sap/.....
    While creating a system object in your portal (System landscape), you will need to adjust the protocol to https and also set the appropriate https port of the backend server. Also, HTTPS/SSL communication should be enabled on your backend server.
    Please check the definition of your system object.
    You can find more information by turning on a HTTP trace and checking how the request is routed to the backend server upon accessing the WD4A application.
    Thanks,
    Shanti

  • Does the Outlook Integration Standalone add-on work over HTTPS?

    We have a customer who is using MS CRM over HTTPS for out of the network access to Outlook and MS CRM within Outlook.
    Does anyone know whether the SAP Outlook Integration Standalone add-on for 2007A will operate (sync/save email as activity etc) using a HTTPS connection?
    Many Thanks
    Brodie

    Dear Brodie,
    SAP Business One Outlook Integration (Standalone) needs to have Microsoft Outlook installed on the workstation.
    Refer to [http://service.sap.com/smb/sbo/documentation|http://service.sap.com/smb/sbo/documentation].
    So if the locally installed Microsoft Outlook is able to connect to (for excample) an Exchange Server in order to sync its own emails, then its no problem for Outlook Integration too.
    By the way:
    I think it was originally developed for Sales persons, who are visiting their customers, but either no or very limited bandwith is available in order to connect to any network outside the local Intranet. These Sales persons does not need to have a SAP Business One client installed on their laptop, but only the Standalone version of Outlook Integration (OI) and  Microsoft Outlook itself.
    So far as I can see the aim of OI is beeing able to work without any network access when onsite.

  • FlashHelp not working over HTTPS, what changed?

    I create a FlashHelp system used for a Web application. The QA environment is HTTPS. When the Help link is clicked in the application, the help does not function correctly. It first gives a security warning, and then the Help viewer opens with a blank topic. However, over HTTP in the prodution environment the help works fine.
    The previous version of this help system (just a few months back) did not exhibit this problem, and I don't believe I changed anything in the settings, and I used the same RoboHelp version (8).
    Any ideas??

    We have alot of Flash Help systems on our https and they work fine.
    Are you using Flash Help or Flash Help Pro?
    Check your setting under single source layout and don't have any of the Additional Opitons checked. You will still get warnings but thats bwecause of Flash.

  • Crystal Reports export and print fails with SSL / https but works with http

    Windows 2008 Server, 32-bit (IIS7)
    ASP.NET 2.0
    Ajax 1.0
    Crystal Reports version 10.5.3700.0
    http:  printing works, export works
    https:  printing not working, only export to MS Excel and MS Word work.
    I am able to generate reports using both http and https, and the toolbar icons are all showing.  However, I am unable to print or export properly with SSL.
    Printing prompts me with a select printer window, and then a window 'Retrieving Page 1' follow by two messages from Crystal Print Control both stating:
    A communication error occured.  Printing will be stopped.
    Exporting generates various errors depending on which export method is being selected (however Excel and Word work over https).
    I've found the same problem on this site and other forums, but never a resolution to get exporting and printing to work with SSL.  Will someone please provide me assistance or possibly relay what settings they're using if they have Crystal Reports export or printing working over SSL in IIS7?  Everything works fine when I change the address from https to http.
    Please let me know if I can help by providing further information.  We've gone through a great deal of possible solutions with code and I'm currently looking in to IIS settings again.
    Thank you.

    Thanks Ludek. I got it by searching KB number.
    Unfortunately, it didn’t fix my problem even my IE (IE8 and IE 9) has correct setting.  I double check my version. PrintControl.CAB is version 10.2.0.1146. we use VS 2005 Crystal report and VB .NET. It works fine on HTTP. But when we use HTTPS (SSL Certificate from go daddy).
    1: Crystal report export
                Export to MS Excel, Word: pop us “File download”, then click “Save”. It says “Internet Explorer cannot download ReportView.aspx from my site. Internet Explorer was not able to open this internet site. the requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try it again later”
                Export to RPt, Rich text format: It says “Internet Explorer cannot download ReportView.aspx from my site. Internet Explorer was not able to open this internet site. the requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try it again later”
                Export to PDF : nothing happened.
    2: Print:
                Pop up dialog to select printer, click “Print” “. Shows windows “Crystal Report Viewer” and pop us error message box. Title is “Crystal Print Control”. Message is “An communication error occurred. Printing will be stopped”. Click “OK” and pop up error message box again.
    Please advise.
    Thank you very much!

  • Content Search Web Part over HTTPS for a Host Named Site Collection

    Hello
    I have a host named site collection http://media.contoso.com which is a media portal that stores videos and pictures. On my parent site collection http://site.contoso.com homepage I have a Content Search Web Part that displays videos from the media portal.
    Both sites work over https.
    When I edit the content search web part and enter the URL http://media.contoso.com in the 'Change Query' box, search returns the results as expected but when I enter the URL as
    https://media.contoso.com no results are returned.
    I have removed the binding in IIS to point to http://media.contoso.com.
    I need it to be https so that I don't see "HTTPS security is compromised by http://media.contoso.com" on my site collection homepage.
    Any idea why this is happening?
    Thanks

    In the Search SSL Settings dialog box, do one of the following:
    If you do not want the crawler to crawl a site when there is an SSL certificate warning, make sure that the
    Ignore SSL certificate name warnings check box is cleared. For security reasons, the check box is cleared by default.
    If you want the crawler to crawl a site even if there is an SSL certificate warning, make sure that the

  • MapViewer 11g over https problem - how to solve ?!?

    Hi,
    anyone able to access mapviewer 11 g deployed on standalone OC4J 10.1.3.4 over Https ?
    Namelly, the following link works:
    https://localhost/mapviewer/
    _but, going on the 'Demos' tab, and clicking on the 'maps and faces' link ( https://localhost/mapviewer/faces/fsmc/oraclemaps.jspx ) - produces the following javascript error:
    [Exception... "Access to restricted URI denied"  code: "1012" nsresult: "0x805303f4 (NS_ERROR_DOM_BAD_URI)"  location: "https://localhost/mapviewer/fsmc/jslib/oraclemaps.js Line: 6497"]Anyone able to access mapviewer (deployed on any server) over https ?

    MapViewer works over HTTPS with some minor configuration changes. First, you may need to tell MapViewer to return generated map image URLS in the form of "https://...", which is done in the config file mapViewerConfig.xml through the <save_images_at> element.
    From the error message it does seem to indicate maybe the JavaScript API (oraclemaps.js) is being loaded from "http://" while the web page itself is accessed via "https://" and browser thinks they are two different domains. Maybe you can change how the JS library is loaded in your page and see if that fixes the issue?

  • JNLP over HTTPS

    I would like the JNLP file and the application to be downloaded over a secure connection. I have searched for an answer to this question but could only find old postings stating that it was not possbile with J2SE 1.3 and JWS 1.1 but it should be possible with J2SE 1.4 and JWS 1.2.
    Does anyone know if this is true now that these have been released?

    The various FAQ's etc. say that this functionality should be working in 1.4.2. I am currently trying to get my application to work over https and am facing some problems.
    I replaced all occurences of "http" with "https" but am now getting the following exception

  • SBS 2008 - SharePoint Connect to Calendar over HTTPS not available

    Hello,
    We have a client with a SBS2008 server using SharePoint internally without any issues through http://companyweb.
    Recently the Port forward (TCP-987) has been completed and the website loads with the correct certificate through the https://remote.domainname.com/RWW and then into the Internal Website http://remote.domainname.com:987.
    Internally we can configure the outlook clients to connect to the SharePoint client with the "Connect to Outlook" Action item, this works great. However if you navigate to https://remote.domainname.com:987/
    and try to do the same thing the "Connect to Calendar" and the button is not available to click on. This also doesn't work when
    externally either. It appears to only work over HTTP. Ideally I want to run this over HTTPS so the end users when remote aren't using VPN
    for access to the information.
    Is this feature only available over HTTP? I was thinking it might come to the password prompt I receive when ever trying to log into the SBS Website over
    Https://.
    Any nudges in the right direction would be great!
    Thanks,
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
    Would you please let me confirm current situation of this issue? Did this method (Add the HTTPS site to Trusted
    sites) help you to solve this issue completely?
    If this issue still persists, please open Event Viewer and check if you can find some relevant events. It may
    help us to go further. Meanwhile, please run
    SBS BPA and fix all that it can find, then monitor the result.
    If any update, please feel free to let me know.
    Best regards,

  • [solved] Owncloud over SSL: http works, but over https only apache

    Hello,
    I try to setup owncloud with SSL.

    OK, solved.
    What I made wrong:
    https://localhost leads to the apache page
    https://localhost/owncloud leads to the owncloud page.
    (Just as an information if there are other apache noobs like me...)

  • MAPI over HTTP not working correctly, Outlook 2013 clients prompting for credentials during profile creation or opening depending on security of virtual directory

    ENVIRONMENT
    -1 Exchange 2013 SP1 CU7 server with all roles that is also a hybrid server with Office 365 tenant, mailboxes are all on premise only LYNC online is being utilized right now.
    -Exchange 2013 public folders
    -Mix of Outlook 2013 SP1 and Outlook 2010 SP3 clients all fully update to day as of Feb 2015
    Outlook anywhere is working perfectly across all clients both internally and externally using autodiscover.  Both Outlook 2013 and 2010 clients can open the program and create a profile automatically via autodiscover and no additional logon prompts
    are seen.
    We set the internal and external mapi virtual directory URLs to a valid URL that also matches the Exchange 2013 SSL certificate.  We set the security to ntlm, negotiate on the mapi virtual directory.  We reset IIS and enabled mapi over http in
    the org config.  We run in to problems here.
    Outlook 2010 clients appear to be working fine.  We can create a new profile and open and close Outlook without any logon prompts and verify that MAPIHTTP and Negotiate are used to connect to Exchange.
    Outlook 2013 clients are having problems.  As soon as we try to create a profile it says your administrator has made a change that requires you to restart outlook and then a windows logon prompt appears. If we authenticate Outlook will open and connect.
      This logon prompt should not occur.    We can confirm that it is connecting via MAPI HTTP and Negotiate.
    If we set the mapi virtual directory to NTLM only then a logon prompt also appears during every open of Outlook 2013.  We can confirm that it is trying to connect with MAPIHTTP via NTLM in the outlook connection test screen.
    I do not understand this behavior by Outlook 2013 which was supposed to be designed with MAPI HTTP in mind.  I would think the same issues would occur with Outlook 2010 but they do not.  I am not sure how to resolve this and I am looking for help.

    I have the same problem. Exchange and Outlook are both up to date. After creating a new profile Outlook prompts for username/password. A lot of users also get this prompt while
    working - the profiles have been "migrated" from Exchange server 2010. <o:p></o:p>
    Niko, as i can see in your screenshot you do not have Mapi over HTTP enabled. Why? You can change settings in the security tab – if you have Mapi over
    HTTP enabled all options are grayed out (please correct me if I
    am wrong):
    This is a very annoying thing – does anybody else have the same problem?
    Any suggestions on this?
    Marc

  • Http tunneling (t3 over http) doesn't work!!  (examples too)

    Hi,
    I'm trying to get http tunneling (t3 connection over http protocol) to work. I
    ran some examples included with Weblogic that try establishing that connection
    (PingTest, HelloApplet, SimpleT3Client), as well as my own test program, and they
    all give an error similar to this :
    Couldn't get a reference to server. Exception :
    javax.naming.CommunicationException. Root exception is java.net.ConnectException:
    No server found at HTTP://<IP>:<port>

    (I replaced the actual Ip and port with <IP> and <port>).
    Now, the server is started and working at that ip and port - it services web http
    requests correctly, etc. Regular T3 connection (not over http) also works with
    it.
    Does anyone know the reason for this problem and/or how to fix it?
    Thanks, Leonid Portnoy

    It appears that one has to use the "Java Plugin" for this mode to work. The
    question is does the version of plugin need to be "in sync" with the JVM
    version on the server. ?.

    It seems that the solution is to have these two lines in the
    properties file:
    weblogic.httpd.enable=true
    weblogic.httpd.tunnelingenabled=true
    Now it works.

  • HELP : Convert socket programming from Ipv4 to IPv6

    Hi all,
    I need help in converting my Ipv4 socket programing to Ipv6. How can I do this? I already have an Ipv4 socket programming that is working but when I tried to convert it to Ipv6 it doesn't work .
    this is my Ipv4 socket programming :
    DatagramPacket sendPacket;
    DatagramSocket sock;
    ip = jtfDIP.getText().trim();
    try{
    sock = new DatagramSocket();
    add = InetAddress.getByName(ip);
    sendPacket = new DatagramPacket(buf,buf.length,add,port);
    Please help me. How can I convert this to Ipv6. Thank you.

    Socket sock = new Socket("host");
    or
    Socket sock = new Socket("192.168.1.1");
    or
    Socket sock = new Socket("www.host.com");
    or
    Socket sock = new Socket("hhhh.hhhh.hhhh.hhhh");
    Get it? Just use whatever host, domain name, or IP you need, the underlying native code does the work - you'll never need to do anything, for the most part.
