Convert java locale to Oracle NLS_TERITORY or NLS_COUNTRY?
Hi, ist there any code around that would give me the Oracle NLS_TERITORY or NLS_COUNTRY for a given java.util.Locale, oracle.jbo.LocaleContext or a oracle.cabo.share.nls.LocaleContext?
I like to do a ALTER SESSION SET NLS_COUNTRY and ALTER SESSION SET NLS_TERITORY in my ApplicationModule.prepareSession based on the JVMs locale setting (for our Swing / JClient) or the HttpSessions locale (for our UIX client).
Thanks, Markus
Ok, found a solution: use oracle.gss.util.NLSLocale coming with Oracle jdbcdriver. Sadly not mentioned in the JDBC API docs.
From http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96529/ch9.htm#15488
The JDBC Thin and JDBC OCI drivers make sure that Java stored procedures will be running in the same locale as that of the client Java VM.
This sounds like the JDBC driver automatically performs a ALTER SESSION SET NLS_LANGUAGE and NLS_TERRITORY.
I would be interested, what happens for 3 tier deployment or UIX applications, because normally there is a difference of the locale used for the application server and the one used at the client (JClient or browser session). The UIX runtime then should not only switch the locale for the application module, but also for the JDBC driver / oracle database. Would be curious if this happens.

Problem when connecting locally to Oracle Database 10g from Java code
Good afternoon,
I try to connect to my local Oracle 10g from JAVA code. Could somebody tells me what are the 'values' to enter in place of 'value1, value2, value3' in the following:
final String connectionURLThin = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@value1:value2:value3";
I tried to put my 'user' and 'pw' credentials I used when connecting with SQL*PLUS:
value1=my_user_name
value2=my_pw
value3=my_schema
but it doest work. Besides where could have I to put the 'WORKSPACE" name?
Thanks for any help.
Claude

Unable to get 'InitialContext' using Java Client in Oracle App 10.0.2.0
Scenario & Problem Description: Unable to get 'Initial Context' using Simple Java Client in Oracle Application Server 10.0.2.0
I'm having an issue while I try to initialize the Initial Context for an EJB lookup from a simple Java Client [local lookup], but the same code snippet works fine when I try from Servlet. I have enclosed the Exception Stack Trace and the Code Snippet for your reference.

Note:
1. The user "ias_admin" & password "ias123" are the credential provided for the 'Admin' while installing the Oracle App Server and using these credentials I'm able to bring the Admin Console. Also, added new user 'guest/guest' - assigned this user to the 'admin' group ...
2. Since its a local lookup, there is no need to specify the credentials, but at runtime a dialog box pops up prompting to enter the 'userid/password' and when I enter the crendtials, I get the exception as stated. [In case of Servlet - EJB lookup, I'm not specifying any credentials]
Are there are any configuration parameters which I need to provide in any of the .xml? Could you please let me know the fix for the same.

How can i convert java application of bibeans to java applet?
Hi Bibeans PMTeam,
Bibeans provide two type client:java application and web client(JSP/Servlet),because web client's function is weaker than java app,so we want to convert java app to java applet,thus,we can embed java applet into web browser(our system framework is in web browser).
That is,we want one applet client that commution with a server side service(can by socket,just like oracle 9i form service)that provide the data that applet need,or the applet connect to olap server and bibeans catalog server by socket(this need security authentication if olap server,bibeans catalog,web server is not in one machine).
so we need you provide whole resolve scheme,thanks a lot,if this answer is not clarity,please connect:[email protected],thanks a lot!hi tomsong
well, in my experience 20mb are quite large for an applet. also take into account that you need a certain jvm that supports this type of application (my guess is that internet explorers native vm isnt an option)
i personally would tend to deliver the functionality via java webstart (look at the sunsite):so you can centrally manage the software, download it once and opertae an application on your client (i mean an APPLICATION and not an applet)
regarding 2: well but there is NO bibean service in ias: so you have to open the former mentioned jdbc connection to the olap service from your client
for the availability: you have to check with the pm team
in the meantime: what about the following approach: give power users a java application and lightweight or random users a handy html client ?

how can i compare those 2? You cannot compare these two values directly. You must convert the oracle.jbo.domain.Date object to a GregorianCalendar object. Something like:
oracle.jbo.domain.Date dt = singleRow.getEO_ULN_BORROWFROM();
GregorianCalendar gc = new GregorianCalendar(dt.getYear(), dt.getMonth(), dt.getDay());
if (calendar.getTime() < gc.getTime())

RüdigerTwo thoughts.
The first is that 10.2.0.1 is unpatched. Why? It has been two years since its release and no one has applied 10.2.0.2, 10.2.0.3 or 10.2.0.4.
The second is that your question is not a database question but a Java question is you are more likely to get an answer that will help you if you post in a group where it is on-topic. -
I am using oracle 10.2.0.1.0. I can able to connect the database using sqlplus. I am executing some ant task. While running the ant script I am getting the following exception.

Can anyone help me in this issue?.....few of my colligue are using the same database, and
they are not getting these kind of error. Only my
system and 2 more system is giving these problem.
All of us are using the same version of oracle
only.I said driver not database.
>
Only I am and 2 more friends are getting the "
java.lang.AbstractMethodError:
oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CConnection.setSavepoint(Ljava/la
ng/String")
"And are you running the same exact code as everyone else?
Additionally you might want to check your class path to verify that only what is required is in that.
You haven't put anything in the ext directory have you? -
Hi all,
My JDEV 11g suddenly can't be started and it throws this error message:
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.adf.view.faces.webapp.UIXComponentTag
searched on internet, got no luck so far. It looks like that I missed a jar file somewhere that contains this class. But weird thing is that the IDE worked fine previously and I didn't do any change. Can someone tell me which jar file I might miss?
Btw, I used the integrated WLS locally.
Thanks in advance!
Edited by: shawn_abc on Jan 30, 2012 2:48 PM'Trinidad Runtime 11' is included in the IDE, I couldn't find a "public_html" folder in Model project, but I see this folder under this path: \ViewController\model\public_html, also I see this folder: \ViewController\model\WEB-INF. I tried to rename the "public_html" to "public_html-bak" there and restart the server, then tried to launch the app in JDEV IDE, still I got this error: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.adf.view.faces.webapp.UIXComponentTag.
I check the library and classpath in IDE and it shows this jar file is used: C:\Oracle\JDev11114gU3\oracle_common\modules\oracle.adf.view_11.1.1\trinidad-api.jar
then I opened this jar file and could only find the UIXComponentTag class as this path within the jar file: org\apache\myfaces\trinidad\webapp\UIXComponentTag.class. So I am wondering how could the application ask for this package: oracle.adf.view.faces.webapp.UIXComponentTag at all? I did a search in the application for "oracle.adf.view.faces.webapp", no returned at all.
Thanks,
Shawn

If you are trying to access a local resource from an applet, then is not possible due to security reasons.

Edited by: 989450 on 2013-2-21 下午4:51Please check if wcps-util.jar is present in your Framework jars. That should solve the problem.
This jar you can find in your deployed jars wcps-util-app-lib folder at the following path
in your local machine system folder for JDev : DefaultDomain\servers\DefaultServer\tmp\_WL_user -
Hi,
I have a basic maven application created using oracle WebLogic Maven Plugin. Application uses UCP and I am logging UCP connection details in the application. Application is deployed to wls 12.1.3 ( JDK jdk1.8.0_45 ) and it gives java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/dms/console/DMSConsole when accessed.
I have dms.jar in maven pom dependency ( added to local mvn repo manually ) and I verified that dms.jar is present in WEB-INF\lib in the application war and dms.jar contains DMSConsole class file under oracle/dms/console folder. I am using spring beans to initialize UCP logging. This appliation works in Tomcat 7.5. It gives error in wls 12.1.3 and 12.1.1 . Please advice on how to debug/ resolve...

Hi,
I am writing an application and am trying to open a connection to Oracle database that is on a server. I am using the following test code to check if it connects to the database.
import java.sql.*;
class dbAccess {
public static void main (String args []) throws SQLException
String DBurl = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@local:1522:DBORA";
String user = "test";
String pwd = "test123";
Class.forName("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver");
con = DriverManager.getConnection(DBurl, user, pwd);
}On running the above program I keep on getting the following error:
Error : java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
java.lang.NullPointerException
If I open the connection using JDeveloper wizard I can see the DB. But if running the above program in the JDev, JCreator or commandline keep on getting the error. Any help is appreciated. ThanksHow do I set the path for the Oracle Driver. ThanksI dunno. You're supposed to know where that class is (what jar it lives in). You set it up in JDeveloper in the first place, so you must have known where it is. After you know that, it's up to you to figure out how JCreator projects are set up to include jars in a project (just like JDeveloper projects do). For the command-line way, you set the classpath on the command-line arguments:
java -cp (your classpath here, which must include the jars it needs) ...
