Converting from JDBC to JDNI connection

I am currently using CR XI (sp3)  JRC in my application to display reports via web pages. I am using Oracle with a JDBC connection. I need to change my JDBC connection to a JNDI connection.  Here are my current connection settings;
connection_url=jdbc:oracle:thin:@ros-db03:1521:spndgwin
connectionString=!jdbc:oracle:thin:@ros-db03:1521:spndgwin!jdbc:oracle:thin:/@ros-db03:$:spndgwin
database_classname=oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
Can someone point me in the right direction?

Jitin, I have a web application running on Apache TomCat 6.0  that uses a JDNI connection for database connectivity everywhere except when I run a report via the viewer page which uses a JDBC connection. I would like to change my reports to use the same JDNI connection. I tried to test this in the CR XI designer by using these settings in the CrConfig.xml but I get theerror  "can't instantiate class".
Here's the working JDBC settings;
     <JDBCURL>jdbc:oracle:thin:@10.0.1.111:1521:myAppDb</JDBCURL>
     <JDBCClassName>oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver</JDBCClassName>
     <JDBCUserName>AppUser</JDBCUserName>
Here's the non-working JNDI settings;
<JNDIURL>//localhost:8080</JNDIURL>
<JNDIConnectionFactory>org.springframework.jndi.JndiObjectFactoryBean</JNDIConnectionFactory>
<JNDIInitContext>AppDatabase-ds</JNDIInitContext>
<JNDIUserName>AppUser</JNDIUserName>
We are using spring so I used it's factory name. I have the server running locally on my development PC which is why I used localhost as the URL value.
Here's my application-context-web.xml contents:
  Bean definitions for Data base  -->
<bean id="AppDatabaseDS" lazy-init="true" class="org.springframework.jndi.JndiObjectFactoryBean">
<property name="jndiName"><value>java:comp/env/AppDatabase-ds</value></property>
</bean>
and last of all my server.xml contents;
<GlobalNamingResources>
         <Resource name="AppDatabase-ds"
          auth="Container"
          type="javax.sql.DataSource"
          driverClassName="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"
          url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@10.0.1.111:1521:myAppDb"
          username="AppUser"
          password="userpw"

  • Converting from a Business View connection to a non-Business View Error

    I have CR 2008 report with SP1. The report has a sub report. The main report is based off of a BV but the sub report is using an ODBC connection. When I try to update the ODBC connection I recieve an error message telling me that:
    Quote:
    "Converting from a Business View connection to a non-Business View connection is not supported."
    I am do not want to update the BusinessView just the ODBC connection for the subreport.

    Hi Michael,
    When you try to update both the Business views and ODBC connection you will be  prompted for  those errors.
    You need to break the link  in the report and update the connections individually.
    Thanks,
    Naveen.

  • Converting from a Business View connection to a non-Business View connectio

    I have a report on our Crystal Reports Server that I need to move to a machine with Crystal Reports XI installed and no connection to the Business Objects Server.
    When I create an ODBC connection pointing to the same table and then try to use Set Datasource Location to Update the Data Source I get an errormessage:
    Converting from a Business View connection to a non-Business View connection is not supported.
    What can I do? It is a complex report that I don't want to take the time and energy to rewrite.
    Thank You for any answers.

    I converted from a PC to a Mac Mini.  I have my PC documents backed up on a DVD disk.  I have an external DVD drive connected to the Mac Mini.  I want to open these documents up from the DVD storage and save them to the Mac, BUT....when I put the DVD disk in the Mac is NOT reading it!

    Hi Joe,
    Thanks for your quick response.  I should add....it worked before.  When I previously inserted the two DVDs into this remote drive, and I went into finder, I could click on the "remote device" line and see all my saved documents (excel, word, etc) on the DVD and open them on the Mac.  Now I cannot see them, when I try to open them on the Mac, nothing happens, nothing is displayed.  I just re-tested the remote DVD drive with a CD and, no problem, it opened up the CD via iTunes and I cold play the CD.  SO......I know the remote DVD drive (it's an LG by the way) is fine, it's something to do with some settings on my mini mac,especially where I could open it previously.  I do not remember changing any settings since then.
    When I go into system preferences and click on CD/DVD it gives me options of how to open up a music CD (default is iTunes), a DVD (default is iMovie), etc.  The problem is my DVD is all miscellaneious files/documents.  I just want to be able to see them in the finder.  I also tried to open them via microsoft word, from the remote disk and again, it could not open the drive, even though some of the documents were microsoft word documents.  Again, I was able to open them previously and the DVD is not corrupted in any way.
    Any additional advice?
    Thank you!

  • Installing JDBC driver to connect to Oracle 8i Database from Weblogic 10.3

    I want to connect to Oracle 8i database from weblogic 10.3 application server. I found a classes12. zip file on Oracle.com to use as driver for the same.
    I am also connecting Oracle 9i database from the app server. Now if i replace the classes12. jar from the lib folder won't it disallow me to connect to the Oracle 9i database.
    2ndly the claases12.zip file i found from the site is for jdk 1.2 will it create any problems. Please let me know
    Kindly let me know what is the standard procedure to install a new driver in Weblogic 10.3.

    I tried to install weblogic 10.3 using jdk 1.5.07 but. it is not supported. Moreover from the sites also i found that it's only the application wars and ears compiled in jdk 1.5 need not be recompiled in 1.6. But no reference of jdk 1.5 is there.
    I tried to use thin client from the code and connect to Oracle 7i
    i got the following exception.

  • How can I remove the JDBC (JDNI) Connection Information prompt?

    Hi everyone,
    I'm using Crystal Reports 2008 and a JDBC connector to a MySQL database.
    My reports work well, but I'm always prompted to enter the database password in the JDBC (JDNI) Connection Information window prompt. The other fields (server, database, user ID) are automatically populated, but I have to enter the password.
    Is there anyway for me to bypass this prompt altogether? Or, can I manually hard code the database password somewhere?
    Thank you!

    Hi Rachel,
    You can't get around this unless the driver supports Trusted Authentication which uses the local user log on credentials. It's just the way it works. Crystal will not and never has saved the database password and never will. This would be a major security issue. Anyone could get your report and have full access to the DB.
    Thank you
    Don

  • Encryption trace when connecting from JDBC

    Hello,
    Please can any one let me know that, How can I trace the JDBC connection using encryption comeing from client to database
    I have enabled ASO, on both Server & Client, I can trace net8 connection for example connecting from sqlplus, and I can make sure that from the trace sqlplus connections are encrypted, but for JDBC connection do we have anything like above so that I can trace and say that all connections are encrypted. If anybody can throw light on this.
    THANKS IN ADVANCE.
    Regards,
    Swamy.

    hi
    are u not able to enable tracing programatically.
    if so
    i think i now have an idea of using jdbc with aso.
    the following params need to be set in sqlnet.ora to enable tracing, when u configure server and client for ASO using Net8.
    TRACE_LEVEL_SERVER
    TRACE_DIRECTORY_SERVER
    similarly u need to set these params programatticallym using properties collection in jdbc.
    check the sample below. u can use this as a sample to set the above params.
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
    Properties props = new Properties();
    try {
    int level = AnoServices.REQUIRED;
    props.put("user","...");
    props.put("password","XXXXXXX");
    props.put("oracle.net.encryption_client",
    Service.getLevelString(level));
    props.put("oracle.net.encryption_types_client", "DES56C");
    props.put("oracle.net.crypto_checksum_client",
    Service.getLevelString(level));
    props.put("oracle.net.crypto_checksum_types_client", "MD5");
    } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); }
    // You can put a database name after the @ sign in the connection URL.
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection
    ("jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:database_name", props);

    When I had a PC I simply took the wire going to my monitor and connected to my big screen TV to watch Netflix movies...How do I take them from my IMAC and connect them to my TV now?

    This could be problematic.
    It will depend on what model of iMac you have.
    You may want to post machine info.
    blue apple > about this mac > more info button. Click on the hardware line. It has a little triangle in front of the work hardware.
    Leave out the serial number.
    Example:
    Machine Name: iMac
    Machine Model: PowerMac4,1
    CPU Type: PowerPC 750 (33.11)
    Number Of CPUs: 1
    CPU Speed: 600 MHz
    L2 Cache (per CPU): 256 KB
    Memory: 768 MB
    Bus Speed: 100 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: 4.1.9f1
    Most of the iMac's have sometype of video output port on the back.  You will problably need a converter.
    The 'hollywood' industry has been making it more difficult to get video out over time to prevent copying.

  • Problem with a JDBC Adapter when connect to Instance on SQL Server

    Hi,
    Currently I'm setting up a communication channel with the JDBC adapter to work on a SQL Server database. When I use a string without specifying the connection instance, the JDBC driver takes the default instance and connects to a database without problems.
    jdbc: sqlserver: / / Server01; databaseName = IntegraSAP1
    The problem is when I need to connect to another instance of it server.
    jdbc: sqlserver: / / Server01; instanceName = SAP; databaseName = IntegraSAP2
    The JDBC driver, in short, send me the following error:
    Cause Exception: 'Error when attempting
    to get processing resources: com.sap.aii.af.lib.util.concurrent.ResourcePoolException:

    Not sure, might be port number is not required in case using instance. Give one more try with :
    jdbc:sqlserver:/ /Server01\SAP; databaseName = IntegraSAP2
    A comment from http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms378428.aspx
    "SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 allow for the installation of multiple database instances per server. Each instance is identified by a specific name. To connect to a named instance of SQL Server, you can either specify the port number of the named instance (preferred), or you can specify the instance name as a JDBC URL property or a datasource property."

  • How can I convert from Modbus raw data to engineering units using a formula?

    Within Lookout, I have several Modbus numerical input types that do not have a linear corespondence to the Engineering values they represent.  How can I display these values accurately using a formula to convert from the raw data to an engineering value?

    I don't quite understand your reply.  I'm using Lookout 6.0.2, logged in as Administrator, in Edit Mode.  The Modbus object is named RTU06_SAV.  The Active member is 30002 with an alias of SAVfmSMT_RSL.
    Following your instructions, I opened Object Explorer and right-clicked on RTU06_SAV.
    This opened a menu containing:  Refresh, Cut, Copy, Rename, Delete, Edit connections..., Edit Data Member Configuration, Configure Network Security and Properties.
    I assumed that I should select Edit Data Member Configuration, but maybe I'm wrong.
    Within Data Member Configuration I can set up Linear Scaling between Raw data and Engineering data.  I know how to do that, but what I need to know is how to convert Raw data to Engineering data using a formula representing a non-linear transformation (such as a converion to a logarithmic value or perhaps a formula derived by fitting the formula to a curve on a calibration chart).
    Once I have this my Engineering data can be represented on a control panel as both a numeric value AND as a correctly reading Gauge.  It can also be properly represented on a HyperTrend graph.
    What do you suggest?

    - Win98 can use ODBC and SQL*PLUS to connect to the remote Oracle8i
    - Win98 can use JDBCVersion program to connect to a remote Oracle8i on Sparc and another Oracle9i on RedHat 7.3
    - JDBCVersion can successfully connects to Oracle8i on Redhat 7.3 if it is run locally on the database server
    Failed cases
    - When JDBCVersion runs on Win98, it fails to connect to remote Oracle8i on Redhat 7.3
    The log from listener.log shows that nothing special happens when JDBCVersion runs on Win98 to connect.
    Any clues?
    Regards,
    John
