Converting logical SQL to physical

I have a bunch of logical queries stored in my usage tracking table. What's the easiest way that I can convert these to physical SQL? I want to avoid re-running the reports and looking at the NQQuery.log.
Let me know if there's an easy way to run my logical sql and getting the physical query from it.

Hi,
i) Dashboard -> Click Settings > Administration to open the Oracle BI Presentation Services Administration Window
ii) Click the Manage Sessions link to open the Session Management window.
iii)In the Session Management window, under Cursor Cache, click the View Log link for the last entry.
The log displays the last query.
iv)Locate :
the SQL Request section. This section contains the logical SQL issued from Answers.
the General Query Info section, just below the SQL Request section. This section identifies the repository, subject area, and presentation catalog from which the query was run.
the Sending query to database named SH section, just below the General Query Info section. This section identifies the physical data source to which Oracle BI Server is connecting and the physical sql that was generated.

  • Logical SQL to physical SQL in datamodel.

I am designing a report in BI publisher and for that I am creating a datamodel.
My datamodel contains 4 dataset with 4 different logical SQLs and all use source as Oracle BIEE.
When I generate/execute xml from datamodel I observed in nqquery.log that BI publisher is executing each logical SQL in sequence.
That is OBIEE first send logical SQL of one of the dataset and then convert it to physical SQL. After first physical SQL is completed then only it is converting second logical SQL to physical.
So logical to physical query is happening in sequence rather than in parallel.
My datamodel contains huge logical SQLs and OBIEE takes almost 40 seconds each to convert it physical query. This will result in total 160 seconds for just converting 4 logical SQLs to physical SQLs.
Does anybody know if there is any setting where I can manage to convert multiple logical to physical in parallel?

    Hi Experts,
    Please help on this.

  • Is that possible to convert logical standby to physical standby ?

    Hi guys,
My steps for testing as below:
    1.create a primary database
    2.duplicate a physical standby database;
3.turn on flashback on both databases.
4.record SCN xxx on physical standby database.
5.convert physical standby to logical standby (using keep identity statement)
6.flashback to logical standby to xxx
7.convert logical standby to physical standby
    8.using real time apply
    I got errors:
    Fast Parallel Media Recovery enabled
Managed Standby Recovery starting Real Time Apply
MRP0: Background Media Recovery waiting for new incarnation during transient logical upgrade procedure
    Errors in file /home/ora/app/oracle/diag/rdbms/ora11gr1dg/ora11gr1dg/trace/ora11gr1dg_mrp0_10120.trc:

ORA-19906: recovery target incarnation changed during recovery
Errors appears every 10 seconds. Seems MPR0 is waiting for new incarnation for a long time. So am I.

    Hello;
Because of limitations for specific data types and objects with a logical database I going to say no.

  • How to convert logical standby database to Physical Standby Database

    Hi,
Does anyone know how to convert logical standby database(10.2.0.3) to Physical Standby Database(10.2.0.3)? Is this possible? If so,please give me steps for it.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    RJ.

I don't believe this to be possible. One of the steps invloved in the creation of a logical standby is the following:
    ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS;
This makes the logical standby a different incarnation of the db from the primary.
A physical standby is a binary copy of a primary db, a logical standby is a completely seperate db that just happens to get sql statements applied to it that are generated from a primary db, but is open read/write.
One avenue, though would be if you had flashback database enabled and you flashed back all the way to when the db was a physical standby and then rolled forward with the archived redo logs.
It's somewhat unlikely you are in that situation, but that is a possibility.
Indeed the 11g snapshot standby does this sort of thing:

  • What is the diff b/w logical query and physical query?

    Thanks In advance

In OBIEE terms the logical query is how you query the BI Server, the Presentation services sends logical SQL to the BI Server, you can also write your own using JDBC , pull from BI Server using ODI etc.
The BI Server engine takes this logical query and writes (a number of) phyiscal querie(s) to satisfy the logical request, depeninding on how your BMM and Physical layer is setup. There are a number of rules the BI Server evaluates before deciding the most appropriate Physical query to generate, rules include Physical Joins, Aggregate tales / Hierarchy levels and so on.
    Hope this helps,
    Good luck with interview :-)

  • How to create a logical and a physical path?

    Hi ,
I want to know how is  a logical path created ?
Also , how can a physical path be created from a provided logicall path?
    Regards,
    Harshit Rungta

    Hi,
Use FM u2018FILE_GET_NAMEu2019 to assign the physical file name using a logical file name.
Remember you need to create u2018logical file nameu2019 using transaction u2013 FILE.
R/3 applications run on various platforms with various file systems. Hence we use platform-independent logical file names in our application programs.
Function module u2018FILE_GET_NAMEu2019 converts a logical file name to the corresponding physical file name and path for the hardware platform concerned.
For this conversion to work for different platforms, the definition of a logical file name must include a logical file path, which in turn is converted to different physical file paths, depending on the particular platform. The platform-specific file name returned by the function module is composed of the physical file path for the current platform and the physical file name associated with the logical file name. Placeholders in physical file and path names are substituted at runtime by the corresponding current values.
    Example
    logical file name:     MONTHLY_SALES_FILE
    physical file name:     VALUES<PARAM_1>
    logical path:     SALES_DATA_PATH
    physical path (UNIX):     /usr/<SYSID>/<FILENAME>
    physical path (Windows):     C:\SALES\<FILENAME>.

  • Converting application SQL code

I see that the migration workbench will convert stored procedures. Are there any tools that will help to sniff out or convert application SQL code for MS SQL into SQL supported by Oracle. I am converting from SQL Server 7 to Oracle 8i. Any help would be appreciated

    Hello,
Yes it probably will return multiple rows...but I spot this:
    CURSOR c_schemas IS
    select owner from <table>@<db-link> where table_name = 'DDL_LOG' and num_rows > 0 order by owner;
Does that cursor return multiple rows as well? Or just one? Because if it returns more rows you'll get multiple SQL statements...
Good links?? There is APEX documentation in your installation directory...
Just try the different kinds of regions I suggested, see if it works and what fits your needs the best.

  • How to ignore special characters in Logical SQL.

    Hi Experts,
I am using Logical SQL generated from BI Answers in dataset of BIP Data model.
The column name or presentation table name contains special character as “&, %’
So when I try to create dataset using suppose following Logical SQL, I am getting prompt/error as
“Please enter values for lexical references in SQL
    *~ description"."security name" s_9, ”
Could you please suggest what should I do to ignore these special characters?
    SELECT
    0 s_0,
    "TEST_RPD"."Account"."As Of Date" s_1,
    "TEST_RPD"."Security Identifier & Description"."Security Name" s_9,
    "TEST_RPD"."Statistics"."Quality - S&P Rating" s_26,

    FROM "TEST_RPD"
    WHERE
    (("Account"."As Of Date" = date '2011-01-31') AND ("Account"."Report Account ID" = '1733'))

Thanks..That is what we did in RPD.
I was looking for any other approach as our RPD is shared between OBIEE and BIP.

  • What is the difference between logical ROWID and physical ROWID

    hello
can u please explain the difference between logical ROWID and physical ROWID
    regards,

from the docs (a 30 sec search)
Physical rowids store the addresses of rows in ordinary tables (excluding index-organized tables), clustered tables, table partitions and subpartitions, indexes, and index partitions and subpartitions.
Logical rowids store the addresses of rows in index-organized tables.
