In your post you ask how to convert a string value to a date. The value returned from the Get-AdUser is already a date. It does not need to be converted.
Bill has sshown one way to convert a date to a string and there are other methods. You need to clarify your question.
If you are really trying ot convert strings to dates then you can start with this:
[datetime]'01/21/1965 13:33:23'
Most date strings aer autodetected by the class.

Thank you for your help!!!
I've created a stored procedure to return results as xml. I'm having trouble figuring out why I'm getting the error message "Conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value '<tr>.....'
to data type int. It seems like the system doesn't know that I'm returning a string... Or, I'm doing something that I just don't see.
ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[p_getTestResults]

FROM #Temp
ORDER BY TestNameId
FOR XML PATH('tr'), ELEMENTS ) AS NVARCHAR(MAX))
SET @body = @body + @xml +'</table></body></html>'
DROP TABLE #Temp
RETURN @xml
END
closlYour dont need RETURN inside SP as you've declared @xml already as an OUTPUT parameter. Also you can RETURN only integer values using RETURN statement inside stored procedure as that's default return type of SP.
so just remove RETURN statement and it would work fine
To retrieve value outside you need to invoke it as below
DECLARE @ret nvarchar(max)
EXEC dbo.[P_gettestresults] @ret OUT
SELECT @ret

Conversion failed when converting the varchar value to data type int
Hi, I am unable to resolve this error and would like some assistance please.
The below query produces the following error message -
Msg 245, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Conversion failed when converting the varchar value 'NCPR' to data type int.
Select Pc2.Assess,
Select Pc1.Title
From Pc1
Where Pc1.Assess = Pc2.Assess
) [Title]
From Pc2
However, when I run the query below I get the results shown in the image . Ie. nothing. Pc1 & Pc2 are aliases and are the same table and the assess field is an int. I found NCPR in one cell but that column (prop) is not used in the query. The table
is nearly 25k rows.
SELECT * FROM Pc1 WHERE Pc1.Assess LIKE '%NCPR%' OR ISNUMERIC(Pc1.Assess) = 0
Thank youWHERE ISNUMERIC(id) = 1 and there are obviously no 'NCPR' records in the view as per my previous post.
That is a bad assumption - SQL Server does not have to evaluate the query in the order you are expecting it to.
Take this simple example
CREATE TABLE #example
col1 VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL
INSERT INTO #example VALUES ('1'), ('2'), ('NaN')
SELECT * FROM
SELECT * FROM #example
WHERE ISNUMERIC(col1) = 1
) X
(3 row(s) affected)
col1
1
2
(2 row(s) affected)
compare to
CREATE TABLE #example
col1 VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL
INSERT INTO #example VALUES ('1'), ('2'), ('NaN')
SELECT * FROM
SELECT * FROM #example
WHERE ISNUMERIC(col1) = 1
) X
WHERE col1 = 1
(3 row(s) affected)
col1

Hi, I am working on a report which is off of survey information and I am using dynamic pivot on multiple columns.
I have questions like Did you use this parking tag for more than 250 hours? If yes specify number of hours.
and the answers could be No, 302, 279, No and so on....
All these answers are of varchar datatype and all this data comes from a partner application where we consume this data for internal reporting.
When I am doing dynamic pivot I get the below error.

Converting a string into mySQL date format
I have a bit of code that collects data values from a bean and I want it to then insert this into a mySQL database. My string is in the format "23/12/1983", how can i put this into a date field in my database? The bit of code I have got so far looks like this...
String month = formHandler.month + "/";
String day = formHandler.day + "/";
String year = formHandler.year ;
StringBuffer sb = new StringBuffer();
sb.append(day);
sb.append(month);
sb.append(year);
String myDate = sb.toString();myDate is the value that I want to go into the databaseLimo2kz,
The key to inserting a date into a database is to convert the date string into an SQL friendly format. i.e. yyyy-MM-dd.
One way of doing this is as follows:
SimpleDateFormat NICE_DATE_FORMAT =
new SimpleDateFormat("dd/MM/yyyy");
SimpleDateFormat SQL_DATE_FORMAT =
new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd");
Date date = new Date();
try {
date = NICE_DATE_FORMAT.parse(dateString);
} catch (ParseException pe) {
pe.printStackTrace();
String sqlDate = SQL_DATE_FORMAT.format(date);
Now it is just a matter of creating the insert statement like normal, and making sure that the date string is in quotes.
I hope that helps.

SSRS error "Conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value"
Hi folks!
After SCCM 2012 R2 upgrade, we have errors with self made reports:
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Cannot read the next data row for the dataset DataSet2. (rsErrorReadingNextDataRow)
Conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value '*****' to data type int.
I found several articles to see reporting services log file for possible WMI related errors, but none exists. SQL server is 2008R2, Runned mofcomp, and re-installed reporting services role, but problem remains.
I traced the dataset2 query:
SELECT
v_Collection_Alias.CollectionID ,v_Collection_Alias.Name
FROM fn_rbac_Collection(@UserSIDs) v_Collection_Alias
WHERE
v_Collection_Alias.CollectionType = 2
Any adwice is appreciated.
~Tuomas.Hi Tuomas,
What's the SQL Server version? To verify the the SQL Server version, please see
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321185
SCCM 2012 R2 need SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 with CU 6 or SQL Server 2008 R2 with SP2 (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg682077.aspx#BKMK_SupConfigSQLSrvReq).
If the SQL meets requirement, I would suggest you submit a thread to SQL forum to deal with the sql issue.
Thanks.

Problem in converting the String to Date with time zone GMT
Hi,
When I tried to convert the string 12/05/2009 to Date, the time zone is set to BST.On the other hand, for the date 12/12/2009, the time zone is set to GMT. What should I do to get the time zone as GMT all the time.?
SimpleDateFormat formatter = new SimpleDateFormat("dd/MM/yyyy");
String dateString = "12/05/2009";
System.out.println(myDate.toString());I think you are all missing the point. java.util.Date objects always alway always store the date as the number of milliseconds since 1/1/1970 UTC so the only TimeZone they have its the implicit UTC. When you use the Date.toString() method the toString() method gets the default time zone from your environment and formats the data accordingly. This means that the same Date object will, by default, produce a different result for France and Australia and the US.
So, if you have the date "12/5/2009" as a String then to convert it to a java.util.Date you must specify what TimeZone is implied. If it is your system time zone then you can just create a SimpleDateFormat object with the correct format and then use the parse() method to create the java.util.Date object and this will automatically be converted to UTC. If the date String represents some other time zone then you must explicitly set the time zone of the SimpleDateFormat object before parsing the string.
The same approach applies when converting a java.util.Date object to a String. If you want anything other than your system time zone then you must explicitly tell the SimpleDateFormat what time zone you want the result formatted for. -

Convert XML string into an abap format date and time
Hi,
Does anyone know of a method or a function module in ABAP which converts XML string into an abap format date and time.
Here is a part of the xml that I want to convert.
<ns2:EventDateTime>2009-07-02T10:13:45+10:00</ns2:EventDateTime>
<ns2:EventMessageTransmissionDateTime>2009-07-02T10:13:45.987+10:00</ns2:EventMessageTransmissionDateTime>
Currently EventDateTime and EventMessageTransmissionDateTime are type XSDDATETIME_Z and these are converted to proper dates and times. We will be changing these fields to a STRING instead of XSDDATETIME_Z. The reason for this is to make the field more versatile. The customer would be receiving dates with Zulu (2009-09-23T12:00:00Z), with offsets (2009-09-23T12:00:00+10:00/-10:00) and just local timestamp (2009-09-23T12:00:00). With this, we need to make the date fields as string
to be able to accept the various date formats (esp. the local timestamp).
I am looking for a standard function module or method that will convert the xml string to a proper date and time abap format.
Would appreciate anyone's help!
Thanks.

Converting part of the string to a date and subtract with sysdate.
HINT! In order solve this you must know how the pnr is assembled. Study this:
650323-5510, we only need the first six characters. They inform us about when the person (car owner) was born. In this case it is 23 Mars 1965. You have to use several oracle built-in-functions to solve this. Hint! Begin by converting part of the string to a date and subtract with sysdate.
select to_char(to_date(cast(pnr,'YYMMDDMM'))) from car_owner;
please what am i doing wrong. i need the result to be something like this
Hans, Rosenboll, 59,6 years.Hi.
The main problem here is you have only last two digits of year. That could be the problem in a couple of years from now, when somebody born after 2k would get in to your database. For now if we ignore this problem the right solution would be :
<code>
SELECT months_between(trunc(SYSDATE),
to_date('19' || substr('650323-5510',
1,
6),
'YYYYMMDD')) / 12 years_old
FROM dual
</code>
Suppose you are expecting the age of the car owner as a result above code will give you that. One again notice the '19' I appended.
Best regards. -
Converting 3 Strings to 1 Date?

It is to a booking system so i need it for a fromdate and then the same in a todate function. Hope u understand my problem.

Jakobtake care of 1 digit days/months. (ex 31-2 != 3-12). So if you have digits, you could use to_date(d||'.'||m||'.'||y,'DD.MM.YYYY)Message was edited by:
