COPY command with Transparent Gateway

We have tried to use copy command to copy the data from AS/400 database (tns name as AS400) to Oracle database (Data2) in NT thru Transparent Gateway. The following works using INSERT statement:-
INSERT INTO EMP select * from scott.emp@as400
But when we use COPY command it returns:
COPY FROM scott/tiger@as400
INSERT EMP
USING select * from scott.emp@as400
Error:ORA-03113 end-of-file on communication channel.
When we use the copy command to copy from Oracle back to AS400 to Transparent Gateway. It does not work and return
"Oracle SQL*Plus:SQLPLUSW.exe - Application Error The instruction at "0x63223160" referenced memory at "0x77f64e1f" The memory could not be written"
null

Other than those problems, do you really want to use COPY? It takes the data on a network trip to SQL*Plus and then to the destination server. Maybe CREATE AS SELECT will be more efficient.

  • Trouble with Transparent Gateways Samples

    Hi,
    I have successfully installed and configured the gateway for Microsoft SQL Server on my database. Following the case studies come with the gateway installation for Microsoft SQL Server demonstration, I have no problem running case 1 through case 6. But I couldn't make the case 7 to work. Following are the errors:

    What am I missing? Any special things I need to do in order to call a procedure on SQL Server? Thanks for any help.

    Oracle is not case-sensitive, but many other databases are. Check to make sure the GetDept procedure exists on the SQL Server side. The name must match exactly. If it does not, (for example, it is Getdept), you will need to modify the sample code accordingly.
    There are also some comments in the , such as "Output parameters of stored procedures must be initialized to an empty string." and "...the procedure's access privileges must permit access by the gateway." So, it is possible this generic code does not work for SQL Server, and needs to be adjusted slightly. Try this:
    DECLARE
    DNAME VARCHAR2(14);
    BEGIN
    DNAME := NULL;
    "GetDept"@GTWLINK(10,DNAME);
    INSERT INTO LOCAL_GTW_DEPT VALUES (10, DNAME);
    END;

  • Copying images with transparency produces a black background.

    When images are copied from Firefox and pasted elsewhere (Paint, PSP, Photoship, etc.) any transparency becomes opaque black. This makes it difficult to edit the image if the transparency was near black pixels. Is there any way to change the colour to something else, or at least, white?

    No, you will have to save the image to disk and open the file in your image editor. You can try if it works if you drag the file in the editor.

    When I try to use the SQLPlus Copy command (with Append or Insert action) with a 8.1.7 source DB and a 9.2.0.4 destination DB, I receive the "CPY0006: Select list has more columns than destination table" error.

  • Copy command looses default values

    Hi,
    I have got a problem with the COPY command. I just want to copy the data in a very fast way to copy from one remote database to another one. I suggested that it would be the fastest way to use the copy command.
    insert into (select * from dblink) has been to slow
    The problem is that the copy command with REPLACE replaces the table, drops the indexes, trigger AND the default values!!!!!!
    Is there a possibility to solve this problem? Or is there another way to load the data in a very, very fast way?
    Thank you very much

    It sounds like the destination table already exists. What about doing
    a DELETE to clean up the destination table and then using COPY INSERT?
    COPY may or may not be fast depending on a range of things. With
    COPY, all the data gets moved across the network from the source DB to
    SQL*Plus and then across the network again to the destination DB.
    What about export/import or the new 10g "datapump"? See

  • Ora-12154  problem with database link and transparent gateway

    Hello,
    I’m trying to make a communication between oracle and SQL server 2005.
    I use oracle 10g E.E Release 10.2.0.3.0 and the transparent gateway for SQL server 10201_gatway_win32.zip.
    Install:
    The oracle database is installed into a server named ss-serv. This server has two partition disk C and E. Oracle database is installed in E and the gateway in C. There is already a database (instance) running in the oracle home (in E).
    I configured the gateway as described into: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B...3/conf_sql.htm.
    In sql server 2005, there is a database running named ClientTricks.
    I created a user named Avogadro with a login.
    In the partition C where the gateway is installed, the file inittg4msql.ora is like this:
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO= ss-serv. ClientTricks
    The file sqlnet.ora where the gateway is installed is configured like this:
    SQLNET.AUTHENTIFICATION_SERVICES=(NTS)
    NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH = (TNSNAMES, EZCONNECT)
    I configured the listener that is in the C partition where the gateway is installed, and the tnsnames that is in the oracle database in E partition disk like this:
    Listener :
    LISTENER=
    (ADDRESS=
    (PROTOCOL=TCP)
    (HOST=ss-serv)
    (PORT=1521))
    SID_LIST_LISTENER=
    (SID_LIST=
    (SID_DESC=
    (SID_NAME=tg4msql)
    (ORACLE_HOME=C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\tg_1)
    (PROGRAM=tg4msql)
    tnsnames:
    mytg4msql=
    (DESCRIPTION=
    (ADDRESS=
    (PROTOCOL=TCP)
    (HOST=ss-serv)
    (PORT=1521)
    (CONNECT_DATA=
    (SID=tg4msql))
    (HS=OK))
    After edited the listener, I stop and start the listener for the transparent gateway from administrative tools in the services.
    Then, connected in oracle (in a database named fakeclient) I created a database link in sqlplus.The the dblink were created, but when I tried to querry some data from ClientTricks by executing the following instructions:
    select * from s_client@dblink
    i got this fatal and terrible error :
    ora-12154 TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
    I verified all my procedure and stapes, all seems to be good. I did a tnsping of mytg4msql
    I got this error in the command prompt:TNS-03505 fail to resolve name
    Could someone help me ?
    Sorry for my English ,I’m French
    best regards

    Hi Mkirtley,
    i clarify you what i've done:
    Pease have a look in the link in my first post. Then, i said that in oracle database home the listener is in port 1521
    here is this listener:
    SID_LIST_LISTENER=
    (SID_LIST=
    (SID_DESC=
    (SID_NAME=PLSExtproc)
    (ORACLE_HOME=E:\oracle\production\10.2.0\db_1)
    (PROGRAM=extproc)
    LISTENER=
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST=
    (DESCRIPTION=
    (ADDRESS= (PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=ss-serv)(PORT=1521))
    (ADDRESS= (PROTOCOL=IPC)(KEY=EXTPROC0))
    Here is the tnsnames.ora in oracle database home:
    N.B in this ora file, there's already some descriptions for the database running, so i just add these lines under the description in ora file.Here is:
    Jest=
    (DESCRIPTION=
    (ADDRESS_LIST=
    (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=ss-serv)(PORT=2000))
    (CONNECT_DATA=
    (SID=tg4msql)
    (HS=OK)
    for the listener of the gateway (installed in C partition):
    SID_LIST_LISTENER=
    (SID_LIST=
    (SID_DESC=
    (SID_NAME=tg4msql)
    (ORACLE_HOME=C:\oracle\production\10.2.0\tg_1)
    (PROGRAM=tg4msql)
    LISTENER=
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST=
    (DESCRIPTION=
    (ADDRESS= (PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=ss-serv)(PORT=2000))
    (ADDRESS= (PROTOCOL=IPC)(KEY=EXTPROC1))
    here are all i did.
    Best regards

    Hi Felix,
    Please take a look at note 234517.1 on metalink (copied below).
    This note explains how to resolve the following error messages when using Transparent Gateways or Generic Connectivity:
    ORA-3113; ORA-2019; ORA-2085; ORA-12154; ORA-28545; ORA-28546; ORA-28509; ORA-942; ORA-904; ORA-28500;ORA-28528
    SCOPE & APPLICATION
    This note should help to solve common error messages when using generic
    connectivity or gateways.
    Common errors with gateways or generic connectivity
    Here are the English descriptions of each error; to compare your message
    with the message below, you can alter your current SQL*Plus session
    and compare your message with the messages listed in this note:
    alter session set nls_language=american;
    ORA-3113:
    SQL> connect system/manager@tg4msql;
    ERROR:
    ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
    Resolution:
    You can't connect with SQL*Plus directly to the foreign
    data store. HS or Gateways are only designed to work with
    a database link from an Oracle database to the foreign
    data store
    ORA-2019:
    SQL> select * from all_catalog@demo;
    select * from all_catalog@demo
    ERROR at line 1:

    identified by <password of this user>
    using '<SQL*Net ALIAS>';
    For case sensitive usernames/passwords of foreign databases,
    surround the user and password with double quotes.
    create [public] database link <db link name>

    ORA-02085: database link TG4MSQL_V91.DE.ORACLE.COM

    Resolution:
    This problem is related to GLOBAL NAMES.
    The simplest way to disable global naming is to alter
    the current session.
    alter session set global_names=false;
    The other solution is to add a global_name to the
    gateway/hs:
    HS_DB_NAME = <datasource>
    HS_DB_DOMAIN = <DOMAIN>
    But the HS_DB_NAME must not exceed 8 characters and
    must not contain any extra characters. If this is not
    possible, the globale naming can be disabled by setting
    GLOBAL_NAMES = FALSE in the init.ora of the database
    as well
    ORA-12154:
    SQL> select * from all_catalog@demo;

    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name

    The database link uses a SQL*Net alias not specified
    in the TNSNAMES.ORA of the database server.
    Query the data dictionary to figure out the 'HOST'
    specified for the database link:
    select db_link, host from user_db_links;
    or
    select db_link, host from dba_db_links;
    The 'HOST' value is the alias of the SQL*Net.
    Please make sure it exists in the TNSNAMES.ORA file
    present at the Oracle database server.
    ORA-28545:
    SQL> select * from all_catalog@demo;

    TNS-12541: TNS:no listener
    The hostname specified in the listener.ora points to a

    machine is not running or the port number is wrong.
    NO ERROR with TNSPING:
    This might be caused by an invalid SID configuration.
    Please make sure, that the SID in the listener refelects the
    SID specified in the TNSNAMES.ORA. Make sure you don't mix
    SID syntax with SERVICE_NAME syntax.
    If everything is configured well, please make sure that
    lsnrctl status shows at least one service handler for
    hsodbc. Probably restart the listener AFTER changing
    the listener.ora file.
    Still no error found, then please enable listener tracing
    (level support) and have a look at the listener.trace file
    after retrying the same select statement again.
    In the file you should see the connect from the Oracle
    database to the listener. After a few lines you should see that
    the listener tries to open 2 pipes. Does this work or does it
    fail and again a few lines later you see a hex/ascii block that
    conatins an error stack like:
    ERR=12500, CODE=12500, EMFI=4, CODE=12560, EMFI=4?
    Then please check again the listener.ora file; is the
    ORACLE_HOME directory specified within the listener.ora file
    correct? Or if you are using environment variables in the
    listener.ora please replace them with absolute paths.

    Resolution:
    This special combination of errors might occure after applying
    the Oracle database and gateway patchset 9.2.0.5 WITHOUT
    running catpatch (=the upgrade script of the database).
    => Please run catpatch. If it ran successfully but connectivity
    still fails you may run
    cathnohs.sql and caths.sql to recreate the HS data
    dictionary tables. BUT BE CAREFUL: Running CATHNOHS drops ALL
    gateway/generic connectivity related database links!
    Hope this helps,
    Mark.

  • How to know Transparent gateway version

    dear all,
    Facts:
    WIN 2008 AND MSSQL SERVER 2008
    AIX 5.3 AND ORACLE 10.1
    how i know the version of Oracle Transparent Gateway from :
    - Oracle MS SQL Server 2008
    - Oracle 10.1
    how can i view that ???
    thanks a lot !!!

    Sorry, but it is not really clear what yo mean with:
    how i know the version of Oracle Transparent Gateway from :
    - Oracle MS SQL Server 2008
    - Oracle 10.1
    You can check the vesion of an installed gateway using Oracle Universal Installer which can list which products are installed or you can use opatch lsinventory -detail.
    You can also check the listener - it contains PROGRAM=<executble> and now type the name of the executable on the command line. It will now report which gateway and which version you've installed.
    If you're interested in which gateway can be used - then the only supported release is 11g which is certified with Oracle 10.1.0.5 + an additional gateway compatibility patch.

  • Copy Command in ABAP report

    HI Gurus,
    I have a ABAP report - basic list, with lot of batch data on it. based on the report they will copy the batch numbers and paste in standard transactions.
    Users complaining to do a Ctrl + Y and then Ctrl + C then Ctrl + V to paste the batch numbers.
    Is there anything we can do programatically using hot sopt on batch numbers so we get the selected BATCH and execute copy command programatically when they click on BATCH number on basic list.
    All they need to do is Ctrl + V on standard transactions.
    Is there anyway to achieve this?
    Thanks Giri

    Giri - you would probably get more results if you mark this as a question. That way you can assign po1nts to helpful answers.
    In any event why don't you just do a CALL TRANSACTION when the user double clicks on a line?

  • How do I transfer a .psd file to illustrator that can then be placed in Muse as a .svg with transparent background?

    I just wrote all this up in another thread.  I did not realize at the time that the last post was in 2014, so I'm giving it a go here.
    I am currently trying to create an .svg using Photoshop .psd file (with layers in tact).  I'm new to these products so it may be obvious to others that the above intention was to eventually place the .svg in some sort of website creation software such as Muse.  Which is precisely what I am attempting. However, I am getting a white background once I place or copy and paste into Muse.  My starting .psd has a transparent background without any hidden layers causing this problem.  To test this I placed the .psd file into Muse and it still has a transparent background.  However when opening or placing this file into illustrator, it picks up a white background. If I do exactly as described above, I still get the same result.  So far I have tried:
    1) Simple copy and paste from Photoshop .svg to illustrator to Muse.  Result - white background.
    2) Placing the .psd in illustrator, then placing the .svg file in muse.  Result - white background.
    4) I have also tried the every combination of 1 and 2. - Result - white background.
    3) I have now created a path in Photoshop from the text layer to yet again attempt the above methods.  Result - white background.
    I'm including an image of the object I am trying to place with transparent background, but I have both a flattened rasterized version, a version complete with layers and a third (.svg) with the corresponding objects.  I am completely new to Illustrator as of today so any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
    Link to .psd file "Welcome text"

    I was having some difficulties getting the correct dimensions of one of my objects, I eventually solved this problem without using svg.  It was pretty simple when I stopped trying to over complicate things.  I just linked the object to a near by object in photoshop, merged and placed it all as one.  It looks great now.  Thanks for your reply.  You are correct, SVG was not the answer.

  • Copy command not working for Search Results

    Hello,
    We have a Search Form that triggers a  TREX URL search.  We also add a custom Layout Set on the search URL.  (see URL below)
    <b>URL Search:</b>
    http:
    <server name> &ConfigFileName=Navigation.xml&layoutSetMode=exclusive&ResourceListType=com.sapportals.wcm.SearchResultList&SearchType=ctrlpers&QueryString=*&rndLayoutSet=CustomLayoutSet&SelectedMatchesPerPage=15&SearchVisible=false
    In the custom Layout Set, we've made our own UI command group to include the following commands:  Search_from_here, details, copy, move etc…
    The problem is that whenever we click on the 'Copy'  or 'Move' command of a resource, we get the following error message:
    =====================================
    Item not found
    The item you are attempting to access is not available. Check that the name or link is correct. You might also check whether the associated repository is currently accessible.
    ======================================
    The error message in the KM log files simply states "ERROR: RID not found".
    Would anyone know how to fix this issue!  I've tried many layout sets, but the copy command always gives me the same error message!
    Any help or suggestions on this would be much appreciated...
    Thanks,
    Harman

    Hi Harman,
    yes, this is a known issue.
    It's fixed with NW04 SPS 13.

  • Oracle 9i on LINUX Transparent Gateway for SQL Server

    Does anybody know if there is a Transparent Gateway available for Oracle 9i on LINUX to connect to SQL Server? I have run the installer and cannot seem to find the install options for any Transparent Gateways. I am familiar with their location in the universal installer as I have installed the Oracle/SQL Server Transparent Gateway with Oracle in WinNT. Perhaps Transparent Gateways for Oracle/LINUX are not available?
    Thanks in advance.

    I have the same issue - we want to upgrade our 9.2 to 10g Linux, and need to maintain connectivity to some legacy sqlserver databases. I can't find any mention of tg4msql for linux. What gives? Anyone know the answer to this? thanks, michael

  • Copy Command in Pl/Sql block

    Can I use Copy command in Pl/Sql.For example :-
    Declare
    cursor c1 is select table_name from all_tables
    where owner = 'LSP' and rownum = 1;
    v1 varchar2(2000);
    Begin
    for c2 in c1 loop
    v1:='copy from lsp/lsp123479@dvlaq to scott/[email protected] create '|| c2.table_name ||' using select * from '||c2.table_name;
    execute immediate v1;
    end loop;
    end;
    Its not running properly giving an error as invalid Sql statement .
    Is it bcoz Copy command cannot be used in a Pl/Sql Block.

    Is there any other way to move the Table & data to another Data Base .Database link is the obvious one. And the SQL statement would look something like this (on the target database):
    SQL> create table FOO nologging as select * from FOO@sourcedb;
    However, the first question I always ask if why? What one may think is the solution to a problem is not always the best solution. So one need to identify the problem first, and then see what solutions there are and which one is the best fit.
    Other options are replication (using materialised views for example), Data Pump (available with 10G) - even could be Data Guard, a standby database, or a Real Application Cluster... depending on just what the problem and actual requirements are.
    Also important to note that SQL*Plus has its own set of commands. Do not confuse these commands (like EXEC, COPY, CONNECT, HOST etc) with the SQL and PL/SQL Languages. Not only are they executed by different software products, SQL*Plus commands are executed on the client and SQL (and PL/SQL) runs inside the Oracle database instance.
