Copying SSL Certificates from one server to another.

I have a question that hopefully someone might have the answer for... I have a IPlanet 6.0 SP4 server that has an SSL certificate I'm trying to move to a new server that's on SunOne 6.1. I was under the impression that I could easily copy the <Iplanet_Root>/alias/https-<ServerInstance>-<server>-<key3/cert7>.db files to the new server from that server's alias directory. However before I copied the files, I immediately noticed the new server's cert file is called cert8 instead of cert7 and is 64K as opposed to the 6.0 server's 16K.
I stopped the web instance and renamed the current db files and copied in the new and changed the cert7 to cert8. When I restarted the server, it stayed up and didn't report any problems. However, when I go the security tab and click on any of the links on the left column, an internal server error (http500) page is displayed. No additional errors show up in the errors log.
Unfortunately, we don't have the original certificate request. I'm sure when it was applied for; it was cut and pasted into the install certificate page. Otherwise, I'd simply do the install on the other server. Is there a simply means to copy an already installed cert from one sever to another?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Migration from 6.0 to 6.1 should take care of this. You don't have to rename the files to cert7.db after the migration, just leave them with their new names and size as is. The new file created in 6.1(after migration is complete) will be called cert8 and this is fine because 6.1 uses newer version of security libs. Doc links:

  • How Can I Copy an database from one server to another ?

    Hi All,
I need to copy an existing database from one server to another server. I want to maintain all the settings from the source database.
I´m not used to Oracle database and i´d be glad for any help.
How can I do this ? Do I need to backup and restore in the other server ? Do I need to copy files from one server to another ?
Any help will be really appreciated.
    Carlos.

I think a simpler approach, other than using RMAN, is to do a database export from the source and then import them into the target database. But you will need to do some ground work on the target, i.e, create database, tablespaces, and schemas (with their name the same as those in the source database.)

  • Copying report file from one server to another requires refresh database?

    Hi,
I am using Crystal Reports 11 for development.
We have a number of crystal reports that are served on a web server running classic ASP that uses these reports with Embedded Crystal Server XI installed on the server.
When I am developing or modifying a .rpt file (report) I connect to a UAT/development database on a dedicated development server.
When I am happy with the report and testing is successful I copy and paste the report onto the production server, replacing the old report.
The problem is I don't have a user account and password on the production server. Our DBAs are the only one with passwords on the prod servers. If an application needs a password entered they come to my desk and enter it for me.
The problem is in order for the modified report to work on the production, I have to call up a DBA to "verify the database" for me by connecting to production server and entering username and password.
    This is really annoying.
Why can't I just disconnect\log off server in crystal reports, then copy and paste the .rpt file to prod server and be done with it?
If I had dozens of reports to change, it seems very rigid that I have to ask a DBA to enter the user account and password used by the application to run the report.
Can someone please explain how to be able to copy and paste modified reports/ or new reports from one server to another without having this problem.
    Thanks

Moving to the Legacy SDK forum.
Crystal can be magical sometimes but if you don't tell CR where the database is how is it to know you moved it?
As you have seen and for security reasons you can't simply "drop" a report on any server and expect it to just connect to a new DB server without being asked to enter in credentials or that you have changed the DB server to report off of.... If it's too much work for the DBA to set log on info then he should give you access to so can.
    Thank you

  • Copying directory data from one server to another

    Hi friends,
I maintain two directory server (ver. 5.2) with same domain (xxx.com) and i have to copy the entire data from one server.
I tried to export from a one server and import it on another server, but it didn't get copied and it is getting object class violation error,
Please give me some tips to copy the entire data along with password encryption, so the users should be able to login to the new server.
    Regards,
    Iqbal

Before you copy the data, make sure the new server has all user-defned schema (objectclass, attribute) which reside on the first server. What you can do is to copy the schema over first. Then you can copy the data over.

  • Copying logical database from one server to another

    Hello All,
I have one logical database name as KDF in my test server which has become inconsistent due to some reason . In my live server tht logical database is consitent now what is the option to copy the same from my live server to test server .
If i copied will it work properly or is there any other solutions or options.
    Thanks
    Sunny

    Hi Suny,
First of all, we cannot create a transport request in Prodcution server and then transport it to the Development Server.Else, it is the other way round, one can create a request in development, then transport it to Test and then to the Production server.
That is why I said that if the SAP standard LDB is disturbed in Development as well, then you will have to manually look in for the modifications between the Production and the Test Server, and change them in the developemt and then transport it to Test server and then Production.
Hence, the best solution is to manually check for the inconsistencies and modify in the development server and then transport.
The path for copying that you are following is correct anyways.
In case you have any further clarifications,do let me know.

  • Copying an app from one server to another using HfmCopyApplication.exe

    Hi,
I am trying to copy an HFM application from Production Instance to DR Instance using HfmCopyApplication.exe.
I have added the Hyperion product folder of DR to the network of production so that I can select the Destination database connection file while running HfmCopyApplication.exe.
While running the HfmCopyApplication.exe as I select the MS_SQL_SERVER_hfm.udl for the destination and click Next I get an error.
The SQL Server database for DR instance is located in a different server and therefore it is not being able to connect it seems.
The error that I am getting says : "Failed to connect to the destination database using the UDL provided!"
"SQL Error : [DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen(Connect()).]SQL Server doesnot exist or access denied."
Please suggest how to resolve this issue.
    Thanks,
    Suchismita

It seems UDL cannot connect to the target database.
You can do the following check:
    1. Ping DR database server from Prod App Server. If ping is ok, it means the network between Prod and DR is ok.
    2. Check DR database is started.

  • Copy Custom toolbar from one instance to another in Project server 2007

    Hi,
I am currently using project server 2007. We have a number of instances in our Project server enivoronment. Is it possible to copy customized toolbar from one instance to another? If yes, how?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Khaldun,
As per my reply in your previous post, here is a link explaining how to use the organizer:
    Http://blogs.msdn.com/b/project/archive/2010/10/22/tips-and-tricks-copy-custom-views-filters-tables-and-other-elements-to-other-projects.aspx?Redirected=true
Basically, just copy the toolbar from the global source instance into a blank project file. Then do the same operation from the blank file containing your toolbar into the destination global model, still using the organizer.
    Hope this helps.

  • Newbie Qs: Copying an outline from one application to another

My apologies for accidentally posting this question twice!
    Hello,
I want to copy an outline from one database to another, both on the same server. I know I can save the outline as a .otl file. But how do I actually copy this saved .otl file over to the other database? Sorry if this is a very basic question, complete newbie to Essbase. Thanks.
ps: Is there another way of copying the outline over from one database to another?
Edited by: Sam on Jun 27, 2010 1:48 PM

Open the outline in Edit mode, and from File > Save As, Select "Essbase Server" tab. Navigate to database where you would like to save. If you have data inside the cube, it will give you options on what to do with the data.
    Hope this helps

  • Error while copying GL Accounts from One Client to another client

    Hi,
We are trying to copy GL accounts created in one client to another client (Company Code is same in both the clients). First we executed FS15 (send) and a file was created on the server. With the help of BASIS team we checked that file and it contained the required values. However, when we are doing FS16 (receive) we are getting following OK messages:
    File /usr/sap/DEV/SYS/global/FBISABC is being checked
Session 1 session name RFBISA20 : No terminations have been found
However, at the same time we are getting following error message:
    File name FI_COPY_COMPANY_CODE_DATA_FOR_GENERAL_LEDGER_0X is unknown
    Message no. SG001
    Diagnosis
No entry was found in the conversion table for the logical file name FI_COPY_COMPANY_CODE_DATA_FOR_GENERAL_LEDGER_0X.
    Procedure
Add an entry to the conversion table for the logical file name. Maintain the conversion table with the transaction SM30.
Can someone please advice is there something wrong that we are doing for copying GL accounts from one client to another client.
    Thanks,
    Sanjay

    Dear Sanjay,
Did you check the batch-input? SM35
It could have happend that there was a mistake in the batch-input data and that the destination file has not been written. If this has not been written it could not be found.  (I.E. you tried to transport G/L Accounts with deletion flags but did activate the checkbox "Transfer deletion ****").
There is another point: Did you activate the box "Datei nur prüfen" (English: Check file only)? If this box is activated the programm will check if the batch-input-file will be written without mistakes but it will not write the file. Only if the checkbox is not activated the batch-input-file will be written. (the same with FS16).
    Kind regards
    Maike

  • Best Practice for Migration of BO  from one server to another

    Hi All,
I would like to know what is the Best pratice for Migration of BO from One server to another.

You need to copy your input and output file stores from the old server to the new server. By default these are located in the <Business Objects install path>\FileStore directory.
Then you need to stop the CMS, Right click the CMS,Click the Configuration tab, and then click Specify.
    Choose Copy, then click OK.
Choose the version information for the source CMS database.
Select the database type for the source CMS database, and then specify
its database information (including host name, user name, and password).
Select the database type for the destination CMS database, and then
specify its database information (including host name, user name, and
    password).
When the CMS database has finished copying, click OK.
Once this process has been completed start the CMS and click on update objects -> located on the top of the CCM.
I'd advise taking full backups beforehand.

  • How to copy OVD configuration from one machine to another?

We have two machines with OVD servers on them. The configurations should be identical from one machine to the other. We suspect there is a problem with the configuration on one of them. We need to know how to copy OVD configuration from one machine to another.
Can you tell us how to do that?

well i have this in mind which may help you.
You would need to have a public ip address to the machine you have consoled to and on internet.
Download the tftp software from below link.
    http://tftpd32.jounin.net/
This software does not only act as the tftp server but also you can select the interface of you ethernet card as tftp server ip address.
For ex if you are connected to a console and have a wireless card which is connected to internet also you connect you eth lan card to the eth or fast eth of the router.
you can select which ever interface you want to act as the tftp server.
you will need to add ip addres for you lan card and also config the router port as same if needed.

  • Move VM from one server to another using Local Repositories

    There is the following structure:
    ovhost-01 with first_repo
    ovhost-02 with second_repo
    Oracle VM version: 3.1.1
Both first_repo and second_repo are Local Repositories.
On ovhost-01 I have VM named "TestOVM" with status Stopped .
    Task:
Move VM from ovhost-01 to ovhost-02 using "Clone or Move" section from VM Manager ( http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E27300_01/E27309/html/vmusg-vm-manage.html#vmusg-vm-move )
Whenever I try VM moving virtual disk stays on the first_repo.
With shared NFS-storage this feature working well.
    Question:
Is it possible to move VM from one server to another with Local Repositories ?

Neither ovhost-01 nor ovhost-02 have access to each other. It move or copy... the admin server that is connected to the local repository would have to have access to the target repository.
