Core Dump : Need Help

Hi,
I am porting the code to Forte 6.0 on Solaris 8.0.
I am compiling the code using :
-library=rwtools7,iostream options.
While executing I get core dump. Following is the dbx description of the code.
detected a multithreaded program
t@1 (l@1) terminated by signal SEGV (no mapping at the fault address)
Current function is unsafe_ostream::operator<<
1211 outstr(_s, 0);
(dbx) where
current thread: t@1
[1] ostream::flush(0x21000000, 0x21000000, 0x0, 0x0, 0x0, 0x0), at 0x2be54
[2] unsafe_ostream::do_opfx(0x47488, 0x1, 0xffbef038, 0x1, 0xff3e260c, 0xff3e3b10), at 0x2a968
[3] unsafe_ostream::outstr(0x47488, 0x46bd4, 0x0, 0x0, 0x47488, 0x46bd4), at 0x2ac50
=>[4] unsafe_ostream::operator<<(this = 0x47488, _s = 0x46bd4 "GetAccessID() test passed"), line 1211 in "iostream.h"
[5] ostream::operator<<(this = 0x47484, _s = 0x46bd4 "GetAccessID() test passed"), line 1350 in "iostream.h"
[6] main(argc = 3, argv = 0xffbef2cc), line 35 in "AccessId.C"
Can somebody help me to soty out this problem.

The crash is caused by flush() which was given a bad argument value, i.e. 0x21000000. It seems to me do_opfx(), which prints out any prefix stuff, should not be called by outstr(). Instead outstr() should simply prints out the message "xxx test passed". Please make sure the code was linked with the right libs.

    Hi,
    Recently I run into the following when I debug a core dump,
    (dbx) where
    dbx: internal error: signal SIGSEGV (no mapping at the fault address)
    dbx's coredump will appear in /tmp
    Abort (core dumped)
    -bash-3.00$ dbx -V

    For information about new features see `help changes'
    To remove this message, put `dbxenv suppress_startup_message 7.7' in your .dbxrc
    (dbx)
    I wonder if anyone has some idea of this bug, is it known? Is it fixed in sunstudio 12 u1?
    If needed, I can supply /tmp/core dumped by dbx.
    Thanks,

  • Need help for importing oracle 10G dump into 9i database

    hi, Someone help me to import oracle 10G dump into 9i database. I'm studying oracle . Im using oracle 10G developer suite(downloaded from oracle) and oracle 9i database. I saw some threads tat we can't import the higher version dumps into lower version database. But i'm badly need help for importing the dump...
    or
    someone please tell me the site to download oracle 9i Developer suite as i can't find it in oracle site...

    I didnt testet it to import a dump out of a 10g instance into a 9i instance if this export has been done using a 10g environment.
    But it is possible to perform an export with a 9i environment against a 10g instance.
    I am just testing this with a 9.2.0.8 environment against a 10.2.0.4.0 instance and is working so far.
    The system raises an EXP-00008 / ORA-37002 error after exporting the data segments (exporting post-schema procedural objects and actions).
    I am not sure if it is possible to perform an import to a 9i instance with this dump but maybe worth to give it a try.
    It should potentially be possible to export at least 9i compatible objects/segments with this approach.
    However, I have my doubts if this stunt is supported by oracle ...

    Not sure what exactly you did (or not), but it looks as if you should attempt doing it all again, only this time all right and by the book. Many millions have done so, and sure it'll work for you as well.
    If you've indeed purchased ML already, you'll find it exactly there in the App Store: under Purchases.

  • Solaris 9 + Checkpoint R55 CORE DUMPING, HELP!

    Here are the list of revisions I have installe donto the machine:
    Solaris 9 (core install) (09/04)
    Checkpoint R55 (HFA 15)
    Recommended 9 (07/18/05).
    When we are running the commands 'cpstart' and 'cpstop' the Solaris 9 OS follows by doing 2/3 core dumps each time. We have redone this box to check if its a fault with the install but it still core dumps each time with use the 'cpstart' and 'cpstop' commands to start and stop the Checkpoint R55 software.
    >
    # cpstop
    Segmentation Fault (core dumped)
    Segmentation Fault (core dumped)
    VPN-1/FW-1 stopped
    SVN Foundation: cpd stopped....... etc.
    Has anyone got and ideas or suggestions?
    its has been suggested to send this onto our Solaris VAR for interrogation to have the dumps put through some sort of analyser, but we have no support (media kit only) HELP!

    we're also unable to connect to the box using the r55 checkpoint software (if anyone knows about this)
    "....make sure your server is up and running and that you're defined as a GUI client".
    it WAS working before appliying the Recommended_9 patch

  • Looking at buying an 3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 iMac.....NEED HELP!

    Ok so I'm thinking about switching to Mac from PC and I need help. Here is what I plan on getting:
    3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
    8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM
    2TB Serial ATA Drive
    AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2GB GDDR5
    My questions are:
    1. How long has this configuration been out? i.e. how soon will Apple upgrade the iMac to better CPU and GUI?
    2. Can you add a SSD later?
    3. Without being able to add a New GUI (and other upgrades you can do with a PC) how long would this iMac last with the way technology advances?
    4. What problems if any are the iMac experiencing right now?

    jbrownlow wrote:
    I guess I should rephrase the question. How long has the 3.4 i7 and AMD Radeon 6970M been available in the iMac? What I don't wont to do is get the 3.4 i7 and next week a 3.6 comes out etc. I read the same thing from http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#iMac
    This machine was released in May 2011. The configuration you are quoting is currently state of the art for an iMac. Without knowing how you use your computer it's extremely difficult to say how long it will be useful. If you are professional musician or filmmaker where you tax the CPU's capabilities then spending the money when a significantly faster machine is released should make little difference to you. However if use the machine for basics like surfing the web, e-mail and some MS Office work this machine is overkill now and will be for many years. If you use the machine primarily as a gaming platform then you would enjoy it as long as the GPU keeps up with your gaming demands.
    So the question back to you is how do you intend to use the computer?

  • Core and memory clocks freeze after gamestream need help

    hi everyone need help with this as i dont know whether my card is faulty and msi support keeps giving me an error when i ask a question. when i start gamestream  my core clocks go to 1113.5 and memory gose to 1502.3. when i exit gamestream the clocks stay at these speeds until i reset or remove the device from device manager and re enable it or i can stop the gamestream service in task manager. ive been in touch with nvidia and they cant replicate the error ive tried the card in three different computers using clean installs of both windows 8.1 and windows 7 driving me mad as the card idles at 48c while this is happening i have a msi gtx 970 gaming 4g latest bios everything stock anybody else have this problem. thanks in advance

    what video drivers versions you have tried?
    if i understood well, after you close gamestream, the VGA keeps its clock to load one and do not reduce the clocks to idle,
    is this correct?
    have you wanted longer period of time?
    do you use dual/multiple display config or just single display?

  • Can anyone help me read a core dump?

    Everyone,
    Does anyone know a trick to make a core dump readable?
    Regards,
    Wayne

    WA, there are white papers at metalink that explain how to extract the strack trace from the core dump. I used to have hard copies but right now I cannot find them so you will have to search for the documents.
    Based on past experience working with support the core dumps are pretty much useless for problem resolution with support except for the stack trace information.
    But then you haven't said what it is you are looking for.

  • Need help - several questions

    The main problem: I have a computer that needs wireless connectivity. I do not want to use a wireless card, for a couple of reasons. One is sort of made obvious below, and the other is that I want to use the pci slot for something else anyway.
    The secondary, tertiary, etc. problem:
    1. I am using a wireless N router. I have been checking this site on occasion to see how I can improve its performance, and what I've done is make sure the firmware is up to date (but that was as of a couple of months ago), and make sure the antennae are bent/turned at different directions so they don't interfere with one another. I've also tried some of the modifications regarding beacon interval et al. (did nothing, so it's all back to defaults now, except it insists on only using channel 11 and I can't remember if it did that before) The problem is that I often lose my connection to the router. It's worse with one specific computer, which I'll explain about in a sec, but the problem also exists to a lesser extent with a powerbook.
    2. The powerbook is able to connect and maintain a decent connection only when the antennae on the router are set up such that they don't cancel each other out. It gets a poor signal when in the same room as the router, although I have read that this may be by design. We've got the router in the basement and use the laptop mostly in other rooms, so this isn't too big of a deal, but still, our B router outperforms the N router when it comes to the powerbook.
    3. The computer that has the worst problem is a desktop PC that is used for gaming and video editing. I move large files around with this machine, and I've found that very often, the wireless card ends up crashing. I've used both a linksys wireless-N card and a d-link one, and both have given me trouble, in two different computers that were used for the same purposes. In fact, I thought I had broken the linksys card because it started causing blue screens of death (this is why I replaced it with a d-link). I've noticed one correlation: the wireless card is more likely (although not guaranteed) to crash if I use the microwave or if I've moved around several gigabytes' worth of files (*especially* if I try to upload and download at the same time). Yes, I know that microwaves are bad for wireless networks, but our B cards and routers never had a problem with it (we had robustness settings turned on). But now, I seem to have roasted the d-link card, as well. It's causing hardlocks and the system can't always boot up. The card randomly stops responding. What I want to know is if I can actually burn out cards this way. I'm thinking that maybe they try to use too much power to overcome both the microwave's interference and the utter crappiness of the router. After the card crashed again today, I immediately powered down and pulled the card out, and it was burning hot. I had noticed the same with the linksys card before, after it started blue screening... (and I'm 100% certain it was the linksys card causing the BSODs as I analyzed the core dump with one of Microsoft's tools, and what came up was the broadcom driver)
    3. I've decided to buy a wireless bridge and hook it up to this computer's built-in ethernet port. What I want to know is: Will I burn out the bridge? Or does it stand a better chance? Also, can a bridge work this way, or does it need to be hooked up to a router? (if so, no prob - I have a spare router) The bridge I've ordered is the Linksys one (not sure but I think there may only be one), and it runs at G speeds. Will this be an issue?
    I also want to know if I can cause any damage to other components in my system what with two wireless cards having burned out. The first card started giving problems in one computer, but then when I got the new one, I transferred it over to the new computer, out of curiosity to see if it would work. It didn't, so that is when I got the D-link. The D-link worked fine for a little while, but now I seem to be headed right down the same path I headed down with the Linksys, with the same initial hardlocking symptoms (I bet if I wait long enough, the D-link will start blue screening too).
    Last but not least, I'm ripping my hair out over this connectivity problem. I'm thinking of firing up my old B router, despite its lack of decent security, and going with that. At least that router works perfectly, even at 7 years of age. I may still use this stupidly expensive N router, but only as a router (not a wireless access point). I apologize for sounding frustrated, but I consider myself a bit of a seasoned wireless network user, having successfully set up and used a wireless-B network for years. It was only after we got this wireless-N equipment that everything made me feel like a total noob again.
    Can anyone suggest *anything* that might help, now that you know the background?
    Oh and one more thing, before someone asks: yes, we have wireless phones. They run at 5ghz.

    1) Here's the thing. To the best of my knowledge, while Premiere can successfully ingest several kinds of color space videos, most of it's processing is done only in RGB mode. I found this out when some colors from DV source changed on me as soon as I added most any effect, whether or not I changed any of that effect's parameters. Simply adding the effect changed the color space Premiere was working in from the native YUV of DV to RGB. That change in color space caused the color shift, and nothing I did would bring it back.
    The point here is that if any affects are added to your video, Premiere has probably already shifted to the RGB color space, so you may as well keep it that way for export, rather than shifting it back to YUV causing further degradation.
    2) Leave it off.
    3) For your source, you can probably just leave it at 8.
    4) Turn off Optimize Stills. That setting can cause issues.
    5) No. Interleave is just combining the video and audio.
    6) Dude, this is Video 101 stuff. How does someone working with your source not know this already?

  • Segment fault (Core dump)

    Hi
    when i run the following Pro*c file in Unix Environment im getting the SEGMENTATION FAULT(CORE DUMP) error. I used DBX to debug the code. I couldnt find out the proper reason for this error form the dbx output.
    This is the output i got from DBX.

    You actually need to run it with "check -access"; memuse and leaks won't help with the crash, which happens because of illegal memory access. Hopefully, "check -access" will help you to locate the bad guy, but that's not panacea either.
    To be precise:
    - start dbx
    $ dbx <your app>
    - issue
    (dbx) check -access
    (dbx) run
    and wait for dbx to stop and report suspicious memory access.

  • Webcenter crashing with core dump

    Hi All,
    Once in a while Webcenter(11.1.1.5) is crashing and generating core dump and the error message is same evertime. We tried to research on addPartialTriggerListeners and found this kind of behaviour is a bug in apache trinidad version 1.2.5-core and is fixed in 1.2.7-core. But the webcenter we are using as version 1.2.12. Also the issue seems to be comming from webcenter/adf framework itself as none of our code uses addPartialTriggerListeners.
    Please help us resolve this issue as we are getting this issue in our production environment and we need to fix this asap.

    Oracle WebCenter Portal - Version 11.1.1.5.0 and later
    Information in this document applies to any platform.
    Purpose
    Java HotSpot Virtual Machine, a core component of Oracle's Java SE platform, known to core dump (resulting in a server crash) while optimizing certain methods in Oracle WebCenter.
    If you can switch to JRockit you can get around it also. Otherwise follow the note and setup the appropriate pre-compile excludes in your WC startup script.

  • XMLType table Core Dump using CLOB

    I've created an object based XMLType table based on a valid XML Schema. The Schema has an element which has been declared as a CLOB.
    <xs:element name="complete_entry" xdb:SQLType="CLOB" xdb:SQLName="complete_entry"/>
    This registers ok with Oracle and the object that this element is in shows the element as a CLOB as expected.
    However when performing a insert into this table, SQLPlus gives and end-of-communication error and the server core dumps.
    A PL/SQL function retreives an XML file from the file system for insert, here is the code for the function:
    create or replace function getClobDocument(
    filename in varchar2,
    charset in varchar2 default NULL)
    return CLOB deterministic
    is
    file bfile := bfilename('DIR',filename);
    charContent CLOB := ' ';
    targetFile bfile;
    lang_ctx number := DBMS_LOB.default_lang_ctx;
    charset_id number := 0;
    src_offset number := 1 ;
    dst_offset number := 1 ;
    warning number;
    begin
    if charset is not null then
    charset_id := NLS_CHARSET_ID(charset);
    end if;
    targetFile := file;
    DBMS_LOB.fileopen(targetFile, DBMS_LOB.file_readonly);
    DBMS_LOB.LOADCLOBFROMFILE(charContent, targetFile,
    DBMS_LOB.getLength(targetFile), src_offset, dst_offset,
    charset_id, lang_ctx,warning);
    DBMS_LOB.fileclose(targetFile);
    return charContent;
    end;
    The function is called like so:
    INSERT INTO boss_contracts
    VALUES(XMLTYPE(getCLOBDocument('contract_82.xml','UTF8')));
    This works perfectly when the element is declared as a string and Oracle converts it to a varchar2(4000), but core dumps when it is a CLOB.
    I need this element to be able to handle more than 4k of data.
    please help,
    Paul Linney

  • JDB crashes while lodading core dump or throws errors

    I'm having here RHEL 5.1 system and some core dumps generated by our 32 bit java application. This application uses JNI and for some reason (that I'm still trying to figure out) is crashing while executing JNI calls.
    I can load the core dumps inside gdb and even backtrace the native stack of the program and see the variables inside the shared library where it's crashing. But I need to take a closer look on the java stack and some of the variable values on the java side also.
    I did try to use JDB to do this like it's described in the Troubleshooting guide for Java 6 but for some unknown reason when I do try to attach JDB to the core dumps I either get some error thrown on the console or JDB crashes and produces a hs_err_pit*.log file. I have used this technique already few times and didn't had any problems with JDB. I'm wondering if it could be that the core dump files are too big - some of them are around 3 Gb. But one of them is ~600Mb and also is crashing. So is ti possible bug in JDB or I'm missing something. I'm posting the error and the one of the hs_err_pid files.
    Appreciate any help and ideas

    Thank you for your responds!
    I'm not trying at all to transfer the core to a different system. I'm debugging on the same linux red hat box where the cores where produced and I'm using the JDB version from the same JDK that was used to run the app.
    I'm wondering what makes you think that I'm possibly mixing core files?
    Here is the output that JDB generates when I define LIBSAPROC_DEBUG=1. This is the case when JDB crashes:
    $ jdb -connect sun.jvm.hotspot.jdi.SACoreAttachingConnector:javaExecutable=/usr/java/jdk/bin/java,core=core.23850
