Correct Schema translation for DB2 Database.

Hi,
I am trying to change a reports runtime datasource using CR4E 2.0 jars. settableloccation method.
The reports are based on command objects.
code am using is:
final String TABLE_NAME_QUALIFIER = "SSS.";
          final String SERVERNAME = "136.51.30.145";
          final String CONNECTION_STRING ="!com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2Driver!jdbc:db2://136.51.30.145:60000/UniQMI_H:retrieveMessagesFromServerOnGetMessage=true;!user=The specified item was not found.!password={pass@123}!ServerType=5!QuoteChar=\"";
          final String DATABASE_CLASS_NAME = "com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2Driver";
          final String DATABASE_DLL = "crdb_jdbc.dll";
     final String DBURI = "!com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2Driver!jdbc:db2://136.51.30.145:60000/UNIQMI_H!ServerType=5!QuoteChar=\"";
          final String DBUSERNAME = "user";
          final String DBPASSWORD = "pass@123";
                                  Tables tables = databaseController.getDatabase().getTables();
          System.out.println("Table Size="+tables.size());
          System.out.println(tables.getTable(0).getClass().getCanonicalName() );
          ICommandTable oldtable = (ICommandTable)tables.getTable(0);
          System.out.println(oldtable.getName());
                 oldtable.setName("Command");
               oldtable.setAlias("Command");
               System.out.println(oldtable.getAlias());
               oldtable.setQualifiedName(TABLE_NAME_QUALIFIER+"Command");
               System.out.println(oldtable.getQualifiedName());
               IConnectionInfo connectionInfo = oldtable.getConnectionInfo();
               PropertyBag innerProp = connectionInfo.getAttributes();
               System.out.println(innerProp);
               innerProp.clear();
               PropertyBag propertyBag = new PropertyBag();
               propertyBag.put("Trusted_Connection", "b(false)");
               propertyBag.put("Server Name", SERVERNAME);
               propertyBag.put("Connection String", CONNECTION_STRING);
               propertyBag.put("Server Type", "JDBC (JNDI)");
               propertyBag.put("Database Class Name", DATABASE_CLASS_NAME);
               propertyBag.put("Use JDBC", "true");
               propertyBag.put("URI", DBURI);
               propertyBag.put("Database DLL", DATABASE_DLL);
          connectionInfo.setAttributes(propertyBag);
               connectionInfo.setUserName("user");
          connectionInfo.setPassword("pass@123");
          connectionInfo.setKind(ConnectionInfoKind.SQL);
          oldtable.setConnectionInfo(connectionInfo);
       databaseController.setTableLocation(oldtable,tables.getTable(0));
Can some one figure out where I am wrong?
Is the Schem Translation correct?
Regards,
Jon

  • Tables not shown in connections tree for DB2 databases

    Hi!
    I often use SQL Developer to connect to our DB2 databases. However, when I expand the desired schema in a DB2 database, the Tables node is empty, although it should not be. There are tables in that schema and I can select data from them, so security is not an issue:
    For example:
    select tabschema, tabname from syscat.tables where tabschema not like 'SYS%' order by 1,2;
    returns many schema names and table names is those schemas. Let's pick one, i.e table name METER_TYPE in schema METER ( there are 4 tables in schema METER)
    select count(*) from meter.meter_type
    returns: 38
    However, the Tables node shows no tables. Tese tables are not Aliases (DB2 slang for synonyms) or views, however, those 2 nodes are also empty when they should not be - we have schemas with aliases and views, which are also NOT shown. The Index node is populated most frequently, but not completely (there are indexes missing).
    Here are my details (don't be fooled by java 1.7, the behaviour is the same with 1.6):

    It doesn't sound like this is the answer in your case, but here is a problem I had with tree icons in 6i which took me a while to figure out.
    For some unknown and probably pointless reason, forms converts the tree query to uppercase before executing it. This can cause problems if the sql contains any hardcoded strings. In my case I was doing something like
    decode(status,1,'red',2,'green')||icon_name
    this resulted in REDicon when my icon was actually redicon.gif

  • Status metric for the OEM plugin for DB2 Databases

    Hi,
    I am doing some testing of the OEM system monitoring plug-in for an IBM DB2 Database. I am starting with some very basic alerts such as when an instance is down. However, it is not working as I would expect. When the instance is stopped using the command db2stop I would expect OEM to determine that the database is down. However, OEM reports a metric collection error and not the database being down.
    Does anybody have any experience with DB2 databases and OEM?
    Thanks,
    Christine

    By creating Groups for specific targets and authoriizing access to these groups you can have users only "seeing" databases or certain databases and other users only being able to see certain Middleware components etc.

    To anybody who can help.
    I am trying to connect to DB2 database on OS/390 from my PC - Windows 2000. I have loaded IBM DB2 Application Development Client V7.2 as well as IBM DB2 Administration Client V7.2 I guess this is called using Db2 Connect. I have done proper configuration of host databases.
    Anyway, I write this small simple class to connect to Db2 database and I keep getting this error.

    Nice trap from IBM: package name starts with COM not
    com!
    Class.forName("COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver");---Sure I tried that. Sorry. That doesn't work.
    I tried with Class.forName("COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.net.DB2Driver");
    That doesn't work either.
    Is my connection URL OK? I made several kinds of format changes to the URL
    "jdbc:db2://db2test.state.sc.us:50000/DB2DB02";
    "jdbc:db2:db2test.state.sc.us:50000:DB2DB02";
    etc....For now I am sticking with the first version.
    Any more suggestions please. Did you take a look at my classpath. Is that OK? Should I rename db2java.zip to .jar and are there any other dir's where it should be contained?????
    ThankYou all.

  • Using Native SQL in ABAP for DB2 database

    Dear Friends,
           I have 500K records in ITAB(Internal table) which needs to insert in 'Z' transparent table. Currently it is taking hours of time for insertion and commit.
    Does using Native SQL helps in performance or any suggestions? If so please send the code. Our database is DB2.
    Your immediate reply is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Rama,
    Using array inserts and commit after each Insert, set up your array size as a parameter and try  different array sizes.
    I would start with 2000 and increment by 1000 or 2000 and see what the optimal array size is.
    I would think more commits are desirable, as the array gets bigger it takes longer for the system to prepare in the event of a rollback.
    Just remember to commit after each insert. And are you enqueueing the table first?
    Hope this helps.

  • How to specify a particular index for DB2 database when using SQL in ABAP

    Is this format for Oracle?
      select *
       into -
       from  vbrk CLIENT SPECIFIED
    where erdat in erdat
        and mandt EQ sy-MANDT
        %_HINTS ORACLE 'INDEX("VBRK" "VBRK~ZER")'
    For the index 'VBRK~ZER' was defined before,it only includes one field 'VBRK-ERDAT'.
    How can i tell Sap to use this index while processing SQL in DB2?
    Thanks advance.

    There are different hints for the different database platforms.
    For up-to-date information please read the SAP notes, search 'hint DB2'.

  • New in DB2 database administration

    Dear Friends,
    I have installed ECC 6.0 with DB2 database , at SAP service started successfully. Also login possible. But i am new in DB2 database administration, so can you help me the list of DB2 command to check on OS level.
    How listener start for DB2 database and so on.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Sachin

    Hi Sachin,
    DB2 LUW/UDB does not have a separate listener like Oracle.
    You're not stating what OS you're running but the follow commands are useful no matter what OS(i.e. Windows or UNIX/Linux):
    Check the patchlevel:
    db2level
    Start DB2:
    db2start
    Stop DB2:
    db2stop
    (You can add force as a parameter if you wish to shutdown it down more forcefully)
    To list all the parameters for the DBM:
    db2 get dbm cfg
    To list all the DB parameters:
    db2 get db cfg for db <SID>
    Show progress of running backups etc
    db2 list utilities show detail
    I really would like to recommend the IBM online help for DB2:

  • Issues with universes for AS400 DB2 databases

    I create Business Objects universes and Webi reports accessing data from AS400 DB2 databases (via ODBC). I have a couple of queries that I have been having trouble resolving. I hope someone in the forum is working on a similar set-up.
    My queries are as follows:
    1. If I have 2 different libraries with identical set of tables (physical files), after creating a universe in designer based on the tables in one library, is there an automated way to create another identical universe pointing to or referring to the 2nd library?  Every physical file and field structure within it are the same. The only difference is that they are located in 2 different libraries, containing different data.
    2. For physical files with 'multiple members', the reports generated by Business Objects seem to only access the data in the first member of the file. Is there a setting where this behavior can overidden or by passed.  I think 'multiple members' is a characteric that unique to tables in AS400 DB2.
    Would really appreciate the help! Thanks!

    Since it doesn't appear the Online Capture for DB2 is supported, I am trying to work around this and do the Offline capture.
    I copied the generated files from the Offline Capture option (startDump.sh,getForeignKeys.sh,getProcedures.sh, and db2v9.ocp)to the Linux box where the DB2 Database resides.
    After connecting to the DB2 Database (DB2DB1), I entered:
    sh startDump.sh DB2DB1 USRNAME USRPSWD
    to run the script startDump.sh. It produced files:
    Connect.dat
    Schemas.dat
    It also created a subfolder (DB2DB1) containing:
    checkConstraints.dat
    foreignKeys.dat
    indexes.dat
    primarykeys.dat
    routines.dat
    synonyms.dat
    tables.dat
    triggers.dat
    views.dat.
    My question is what do I do with these files? I believe the documentation said that file db2v9.ocp was supposed to be modified, but it wasn’t modified after I ran startDump.sh. Was I supposed to run getForeignKeys.sh and getProcedures.sh, or did startDump.sh already run these? Can anyone provide an example of how this is to be run? The documentation doesn't provide a DB2 example.
    Note: The DB2 Supplement: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15846_01/doc.21/e15286.pdf doesn't seem to discuss the offline capture. It doesn't reference the startDump.sh file at all.

  • Oracle Streams setup for multiple schemas in a same database

    We are on 11.1.0.7 and will be using Oracle 11g Streams that will replicate the data real-time for two schemas between the source and target set of schemas with in the same database. We will be doing DDL as well as DML replication.
    I created the following plan and want your inputs. After implementing this, I created a table in SCOTT but it's get replicated to RPT_SCOTT later I tried inserting a row in the table created under SCOTT but that too didn't get replicated to RPT_SCOTT.
    Here are the steps that I used to set up my STREAMS -
    Database Instance:     TESTDB
    Schemas:
         Source:          SCOTT
                   HR
         Target:          RPT_SCOTT
                   RPT_HR
    Configuring Streams:
    1.     Database is in Archive log mode
    2.     Set up the Streams administrator.
    create user STRMADMIN identified by STRMADMIN default tablespace USERS temporary tablespace temp;
    grant resource, dba, AQ_ADMINISTRATOR_ROLE to STRMADMIN;
    BEGIN
    DBMS_STREAMS_AUTH.GRANT_ADMIN_PRIVILEGE(
    grantee => 'STRMADMIN',
    grant_privileges => TRUE);
    END;
    3.     Set up Streams queues
    CONNECT STRMADMIN/****
    BEGIN
    DBMS_STREAMS_ADM.SET_UP_QUEUE(
    queue_name => 'STREAMS_QUEUE',
    queue_table => 'STREAMS_QUETAB',
    queue_user => 'STRMADMIN');
    END;
    4.     Add the Apply rule
    BEGIN
    DBMS_STREAMS_ADM.ADD_SCHEMA_RULES(
    schema_name      => 'RPT_SCOTT',
    streams_type     => 'APPLY',
    streams_name     => 'APPLY_CC_STREAM',

    7.     Start the Apply

    END;
    BEGIN
    DBMS_CAPTURE_ADM.START_CAPTURE('CAPTURE_AB_STREAM');
    END;
    Waiting for your inputs!

    If I understand from your code, you want to do this on the same DB :
    SCOTT --> RPT_SCOTT
    HR  --> RPT_HRSo there is a schema transformation, where is it coded ?
    General info : http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28321/strms_transform.htm
    More specific on schema rename : http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28321/strms_mtransform.htm#CHDGDHDE
    Next : where are the initialisation of both capture schema ?
    Missing :
    execute DBMS_CAPTURE_ADM.PREPARE_SCHEMA_INSTANTIATION( schema_name          => 'scott'');
    execute DBMS_CAPTURE_ADM.PREPARE_SCHEMA_INSTANTIATION( schema_name          => 'HR'');This tell Streams from where to capture the SCN.
    Also there is an (WRONG) instantiation of SCOTT for the apply, which tells the apply to consider as valuable candidate all LCR after source_scn,
    but where is the code or RPT_HR. Alas, you put for the APPLY target schema 'SCOTT' while it should have been 'RPT_SCOTT'.
    the fact that is correct or false depends where you put the schema transformation. If you put the transformation at apply time then use the SOURCE schema name (SCOTT, HR) for the LCR will contains their name. If you put the transformation at capture time, then put target schema name for the LCR will contain their name (RPT_HR,RPT_SCOTT).
    Let's say you put the schema transformation at capture time then
    Missing:
    DBMS_APPLY_ADM.SET_SCHEMA_INSTANTIATION_SCN (
    source_schema_name => 'RPT_HR',
    source_database_name => 'TESTDB',
    instantiation_scn => source_scn);If you attache the transformation on the apply process then the code is :
    DBMS_APPLY_ADM.SET_SCHEMA_INSTANTIATION_SCN (
    source_schema_name => 'HR',
    source_database_name => 'TESTDB',
    instantiation_scn => source_scn);And this is useless:
    -- useless code
    BEGIN
    DBMS_APPLY_ADM.ALTER_APPLY(
    apply_name => 'APPLY_CC_STREAM',
    apply_user => 'STRMADMIN');
    END;
    BEGIN
    DBMS_APPLY_ADM.ALTER_APPLY(
    apply_name => 'APPLY_AB_STREAM',
    apply_user => 'STRMADMIN');
    END;
    /Last : You are using the same queue for 2 separated capture/apply transformation.
    Do yourself a favor and give each couple capture/tranform/apply its own queue.

  • Translate date characters from Analyzer 6.5 DB2 database

    Is anyone knows or experienced how to translate the 13 digits date to a regular date/time format from the DB2 7.2 Personal Enterprise Edition database for Analyzer 6.5? This 13 digits date (Create Date & Last Modified Date) are reside in DB2 database from the "TBLREPORTS" table and the field name is called "REPORTPROPS".Thanks in advance.

    This is how to delete a datasource from a custom report in Analyzer 6.5.- Open the custom report, on the Main Toolbar menu, go to Tools and Select Design Report.- On the Design Report page, highlight the data source (spreadsheet or chart), right click & select Properties, the Data Object Properties box will pop-up, highlight the "ReportDataSrc1" and hit "Delete" on your keyboard(if this is the data source you want to delete). It will give you a "Yes and No" option. Click Yes, it will delete the data source out of your custom report forever and remember to save the report.If you have any question, feel free to email me [email protected]

  • Is their a maximum database size for DB2?

    Hello,
    we got a request from our business to install a new bw system on DB2 V8.2/V9 with an estimated end size of 100 Terabyte. I know, we have to ask our hardware partner, for sizing and this will include, partitioning,... But the first question from my side is "Is their a maximum size for a db2 database installed on aix?" Has anybody experience with such a huge database. At the moment our biggest database is about 1,4 Terabyte.
    Regards,
    Alexander

    Hi Alexander,
    A 100TB size sounds ambitious ... any thoughts to when the system will have that size ? It will also be interesting to understand if it's a OLTP or OLAP system.
    There is a "theoritical" technical limit on the total size of a database, but that's really beyond reason. Here is how it goes:
    A regular tablespace can be no larger than 512GB per DPF partition. A large tablespace can be no larger than 16TB per DPF partition. You can have 32767 tablespaces in a database. You can have up to 999 DPF partitions in a partitioned database server.
    Coming from that the current technical limit is:
    Non-partitioned database server: 16TB x 32767 tablespaces
    Partitioned database server: 16TB x 32767 tablespaces x 999 partitions.
