Corrupt cfmail file with

Over the weekend I had an email hang up in my \Mail\Spool\ directory.  ColdFusion would try to send the file but would just hang on it.  It would never move it to the \Mail\Undelivr\ directory.   In the Mail.log file it created a single entry that just displayed as "Error", with no other information.
In the meantime no other email was sent.  The spool directory grew as new email was being spooled but ColdFusion would never get past sending the corrput file.
I opened the file in a text editor and the file began with the following characters:
The email file looked something like this:
server:  mail.myserver.com
from:  [email protected]
to:  [email protected]
subject:  Example Email
type:  text/plain; charset=UTF-8
bodypart-start:  text/plain; charset=us-ascii
body:  Just an example
bodypart-end:  text/plain; charset=us-ascii
This apparently was just a fluke because in the hundreds of email files I have looked at over the years this is the first time I have ever seen those characters displayed. I was able to get the email to send by deleting the characters and saving it back to the \Mail\Spool\ directory.
Searching the web reveals that those characters represent the Byte Order Mark (BOM) of the Unicode Standard. Specifically it is the hex bytes EF BB BF, which form the UTF-8 representation of the BOM, misinterpreted as ISO 8859/1 text instead of UTF-8.
What would cause CF to screw up createing an email file beginning with these characters?

    Hello all, my Satellite a105-s4054 has some corrupted xp os files.  Please advise on how to repair only these files using the recovery dvd pks included with my sytem.  I would rather not have to do a complete format and install.   And it is now obvious which of the individual files listed should be replaced to repair the corrupted files.

  • Corrupted Raw Files with Canon 450D

    I connect Canon Rebel XSi (450D) DSLR to Mac via USB. Adobe Bridge Launches(updated to Camera Raw 4.5 => ~\Library\Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats). I choose to download all pictures (jpeg & CR2). The download takes place.
    Thumbnails appear for both jpgs & cr2s in Adobe Bridge. When any cr2 is clicked on to open, Photoshop Elements 6.0 opens but will not open the raw file -it indicates that file type is unknown.
    The CR2 files downloaded from Adobe Bridge are only 2-3 MB, but the originals on the SD RAM card are well over 10 MB. So something is happening to the files during the download.
    If the SD card is inserted in a USB adapter and connected to PC, the download works fine and files retain their original size. This problem
    only occurs with direct Camera to PC USB connection.
    Does anyone have any insight to what could be causing this or any fixes?

  • Attempting to upgrade to Firefox 3.6 (using an ancient Mac OS 10.3), but received an error message (corrupt image file) when downloading - any way to correct this with my current OS?

    I'm currently trying to update a few programs on my good old (VERY old) Mac Powerbook, but I ran into an error when downloading Firefox version 3.6...I'm currently running Mac OS X 10.3.9, which isn't compatible with the most recent versions of Firefox (or anything, for that matter), but it should still allow an upgrade of version 3.6; however, once the file finished downloading, an error message popped up indicating there's a corrupt image file. Is there any way to work around/correct this problem, or am I stuck with my old version of Firefox until I bite the bullet and upgrade my OS??? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

    Firefox 3.6 requires at least OS X 10.4, the last version of Firefox that runs on OS X 10.3.9 is Firefox 2.0.0.20 available from https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0.0.20/mac/en-US/

  • How to repear a corrupt file with Numbers

    How to open a "corrupt" file with Numbers.
    With excel it is possible to open such a file with the following error message :
    "The file you are trying to open, 'filename.xls', is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify that the file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?"
    Clicking YES, the file is opening correctly with XLS.
    How to do the same with Numbers?
    When i try to open the same file with numbers i have no "error message" but the information contained in the file is not readable.
    Many thanks for your help

    Yeah that's true to an extant; microsoft did a good job fixing that but unfortunately allowed it to be re-introduced in 2006 with windows vista where they allowed file naming to receive destructive values (wasn't very fond of this);
    in previous versions of windows such values once entered would be followed by an error message telling you those values couldn't be used
    I wasn't aware it would pop its ugly head back up into windows 7 but I see otherwise as in the case of mine
    (I forgot to mention the period preceded a parenthesis which in turn can be destructive to the file's original format)
    Anyway photoshop wont open the file after changing it to .psd leaving an error message stating....
    'Could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of photoshop'

  • Premiere Pro CC v7.0 - MP3s corrupted during import with "Write XMP ID to Files on Import"

    Premiere Pro CC v7.0 - original MP3s corrupted during import with default "Write XMP ID to Files on Import" option
    I have just started using a Trial version of Premiere.
    I have a folder full of corrupted MP3 files after attempting to import them into Premiere.
    After searching these forums I found that some other people have had corruption issues during import of media and it was related to the Preferences->Media->"Write XMP ID to Files on Import" option.
    I attempted to import additional MP3s (this time making backups first) with and without the Write XMP ID option, and have found that this is where the issue is.
    While the MP3 files still fail to be imported, the files are not corrupted in the process when the Write XMP ID option is unchecked.
    Writing to files that are being imported seems to me like unexpected behaviour for any software.
    Adobe please advise!
    Is there any way to recover my original MP3 collection?

    What exactly is wrong with them?

  • Nilibddc dll: opening tdms files with corrupt index files

    Hi there,
    i have a question regarding error handling, when using the nilibddc.dll.
    I want to use nilibddc.dll to open .tdms files. At the time i'm experimenting with some error cases and got stuck in one case:
    When i try to open a .tdms file with a corrupt .tdms_index file i get the error code -6211 (DDC_StorageCouldNotBeOpened).
    The .tdms_index file is corrupt because of errors while copying the file.
    The problem i noticed is, that i have a file lock on the corrupt .tdms_index file after DDC_OpenFile(...) (i can rename it, but i can't delete the file!?).
    As you can see in the code snippet - it isn't really special...
    int ddcError = 0, length;
    DDCFileHandle file = 0;
    ddcError = DDC_OpenFile (FILE_PATH, NULL, &file);
    // here i get ddcError == -6211
    if( ddcError == 0 )
    // do something with the file...
    ddcError = DDC_CloseFile(file);
    if( ddcError == 0 )
    cout << "no error - everything done" << endl;
    system("PAUSE");
     Do i miss something here? Should i use DDC_FreeMemory in somehow to release opened handles?
     I also tried to use the DDC_OpenFileEx(...) with readOnly set to true. But this doesn't change anything!
    Thanks in advance for help,
    Daniel
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi there,
    thanks for the replies (and sorry for my late answer).
    The code above is from a simple Visual C++ Project that i use to run some tests with the dll.
    If i posted the question in the wrong topic please let me know - i found some other posts dealing with the dll so i thought i'm right here.
    I attached a tdms and the corresponding "corrupt" tdms_index file.
    The file handle stays 0 when i debug my code with that file and i receive the error -6211.
    I want to use the dll as part of an application that runs as system service. It reads and writes information from/to existing tdms files. After the information is read the application moves the files. So, if the tdms_index file gets corrupt (by whatever) i have the problem, that the index file is locked as long as the service is running and the file can't be moved. I can't tell how often this happens (hopefully never) but if i can do something against it, i would like to integrate this precaution.
    Thanks in Advance for any information & have a nice day,
    Daniel

  • Corrupted .pst files due to mistakenly trying to open them with Adobe Reader

    This is a second post re the same problem, as I previously got only one response (from B. Alheit), which asked me to identify my operating system. I am beyond desperate to get this problem fixed.
    As described previously (S Giraffe - 11/14), I was about to apply an email recovery program to some .pst files when, somehow (late at night/tired), I inadvertently clicked "Open with Adobe Reader." Then the disaster! The Adobe Reader logo appeared on the .pst file's icon - and also on every other .pst file in my Documents folder. When I tried to open them I got the following error message:
    "Adobe Reader could not open 'Outlook (_).pst' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged."
    I went back to my exernal hard drive to again decompress the original backup files, but these, too, all had the Adobe Reader logo on their icons and brought the same error message. How could trying to open ONE .pst file with Adobe Reader have affected every other .pst file on my C drive and in my external hard drive???
    I need to recover my emails and contacts! Can anyone tell me anything that would enable me to correct whatever Adobe Reader did to my .pst files and get them back to their former state. I would be immensely appreciative.

    Adobe Reader didn't "do" anything to your PST file, but you probably changed the file association by leaving "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" checked.
    What you need to do is to reset the file association from Adobe Reader, and change it e.g. to SCANPST.EXE
    If you have a recent system restore point (before the file association changed), restore that save point.  If not, you need to change it manually (either in the registry, or by opening the PST file with SCANPST.EXE, and again check "Always use the selected program...".

  • How can I repair Vista system files with only a Toshiba recovery disc??

    I have pretty much come to the conclusion that the reason I can't install Vista service pack 2 is due to some corrupt vista files. I ran the program that checks that system files and it said some are corrupt. There are some things I can't do, like turn on the Windows firewall even from that special adminostrar screen, or if I schedule a check disc scan, when I reschedule it for start up, it doesn't do it at startup. I had a Red Screen about a year ago, and it did a bunch of stuff and at the end, it said you had a major event and contact your administartor. Well, I am the administartor, lol. Anyway, it worked fine and I attribute these problems to that event.
    Vista discs come with a repair option. All I have is the Toshiba disc that lets you reinstall the Toshiba and Vendor applications OR reformat the hard drive. I am not going to spend days trying to get my system back to where it is by tracking down everything I have installed especially when its working. Is there a work around? I will buy a Vista Home Premium disc if I have to before refortmatting. I have an x205-S9349 with Vista Home Premium. THANKS!

  • Corrupt Dock File?

    Hi,
    So on my dock, I have my Applications Folder on it to use as a shortcut, but just recently, it started to display two of every application. See my picture:
    I also have my Downloads Folder on my Dock. When I drag things from the Downloads folder into the trash can, nothing happens. But then when I click +Show In Finder+, it shows the file as deleted.
    So it seems my Dock is not refreshing or something? So what I did to fix it was just remove the Applications and Downloads Folders from the Dock, and drag the Applications and Downloads folder from my hard drive to the dock. But everytime I log back in or download something else, the problem will arise again.
    Do I have a corrupt dock file? I didn't want to try messing with that until I consulted +Apple Discussions+ first.
    Thanks, Alex

    if recreating those stacks doesn't help try resetting your dock preference file. delete the file /users/user/library/preferences/com.apple.dock.plist and enter the following terminal command
    killall Dock
    your dock will be rest to the default. see if the problem goes away.

    I have two cFP-2120 RT controller. They both have NI-Serial RT2.5.6, DataSocket for LV RT4.2, NI-VISA 3.6, FP Drivers 5.1.0, FP VI Manager 3.1.0 LV RT 7.1.1 installed. But one same vi can run on one controller but not another.
    the error message got when it runs on another controller is "Error -32810 occurred at  The FieldPoint server initialization failed. Possible causes: 1. Missing or corrupt configuration file; 2. Failed to create callbacks. : FP Open.vi"
    I wonder by what it is caused?
    Thanks

    Hi Matthew,
    As mentioned previously, this KnowledgeBase article may be of some help. Also, if your code is being run on an embedded controller and then a network controller (not embedded), you will need to run the program differently. On the embedded controller, you should deploy your VI in a Project Explorer or programmatically (as described here.) However, you do not need to deploy the program to a network controller, but simply run the VI.
    I would also suggest creating a new .IAK file. Do you still see the same error? Also, double-check that the software installed on the controller matches the software installed on the host PC. If you have any file paths associated with one FieldPoint controller, ensure that you are changing them to match the second controller.
    Please keep us posted on your troubleshooting steps. Have a great day!

    General Repair of Adobe Acrobat Reader corrupted .pdf file...
    1. Go to adobe official site, click the "Support" tab on the top of the screen, click on "Adobe Reader," and then select the "I can't open a PDF document" statement underneath "Troubleshooting." The Support tab is located near the top of the screen as a white word against a black backdrop. After clicking Support, you will see the phrase "Product Support Centers" on a new page in bold white font, under which is "Adobe Reader." The new page after clicking "Adobe Reader" will have the word "Troubleshooting" underneath the phrase "Adobe Reader and Help Support." Underneath "Troubleshooting" is "I can't open a PDF document."
    2. Follow the instructions on how to complete a general repair and installation of Adobe Acrobat Reader. To attempt the most basic PDF repair method, Open "Adobe Acrobat Reader" (select the program in your Start menu, which is on the bottom-left part of the screen), select "Help" from the gray tab menu at the top of Adobe Acrobat Reader, and click on "Repair Adobe Reader Installation." A meter should pop up indicating that your Adobe version is being checked for errors and is being linked back to the home Adobe official website just in case you need to download a new update of the program. If you need to download an updated version of the program, another pop-up will appear on your screen asking you if you want to update Adobe. Click "Yes."
    3. Reopen the PDF file. It should now be readable. If not, then try the next set of directions.
    4. If nothing helped, and you can't redowload .pdf file from source where it was, then use third party solution PDF On-line repair service https://onlinefilerepair.com/en/pdf-repair-online.html

  • HELP PLEASE! Export Aperture 1 Library and Import to Aperture 3? Or another way to transfer files WITH changes into new MacBook Pro?

    Hi everyone,
    I recently purchased a new MacBook pro with Retina display, to better manage Aperture and Photoshop. I took the advice of the genius (and after spending all night messing with permissions, etc.), opted out of using Setup Assistant or Migration Assistant and decided to transfer my files manually (as the two systems weren't merging properly the first time -- it was a giant mess). Long story short, I tried to transfer everything from my previous MacBook (operating on 10.5.8 with Aperture 1), and Aperture 3 couldn't handle it. It was crashing, and crashing so badly that NO button could be activated in the program (I FINALLY got Aperture working by disabling previews, and by moving from a managed library to a referenced library).
    I initially dragged and dropped all photos from my previous MacBook to my external, and imported. I obviously lost folders, edit history and any other information that I needed to know what edits had been done on the file. Additionally, any movie that had been imported into Aperture was corrupt (the file was not transferring over correctly). I searched and searched for different methods, and finally found that I could export each project from my original MacBook as a "Library" and consolidate masters, or not, etc. I took the time and did this for each project. When I went to import these into Aperture 3, it said I was not able to because the libraries were from a previous version of Aperture.
    Is there any way to bypass this? Or another way to transfer my projects? I understand I won't be able to do this for my entire library... but I'm wondering if there's any way to transfer my changes made, projects and details from Aperture 1 to Aperture 3? (and for those who might pose upgrading my original MacBook as an option, I cannot. It's too old. I think the best I could uprade to is Aperture 2, IF i can update the OS. Though, I definitely don't think I should be forced to do that since I've aleady re-invested in a new computer, AND had to re-buy Aperture for the new one.
    Any/all advice is VERY much appreciated, as I really want to move forward and FINALLY start appreciating this program and computer (i.e. my investment) and move forward business wise. Thank you!

    Hi Jack,
    Thanks for responding (as it seems as though no one else has been able to provide any insight as of yet)! Not sure if you saw my recent post, but the version of Aperture on the 2008 MacBook has been upgraded to 3.1.2 (not sure how; I bought it in 2009, but only have OS X 10.5.8... which apparently can't house 3.1.2 of Aperture, but hey, like many other anomalies i'm encountering, I'm no longer surprised!). I am unable to upgrade it any further, as it warns me that my OS X does not fit the requirements. I exported the projects as libraries; however, like I posted before, apparently these are from too old of a version for the new Aperture (3.3.1) to handle and import.
    It's getting to the point where I'd almost pay to upgrade the OS X on my previous MacBook (10.5.8) to something newer in order to THEN update Aperture to a newer version; however, my previous MacBook simply cannot handle this (the specs are awful -- hence my decision to save up and upgrade to the newest MBP with Retina).
    I've spent hours upon hours transferring files, libraries as projects, previews, versions, even masters (though, apparently some of them aren't accessible?) with no luck. I've rebuilt the library and reprocessed everything. And this is all after having to return one MBP already since Aperture 3.3.1 is glitch-y as it is, and froze everything for having a "managed library". So, now that I know that I have to deal with a referenced library in Aperture... I just need to actually transfer my previous library to my new one (hopefully WITH adjustments since these are years worth of photos and work).
    Again, any help is appreciated. I've lost enough sleep, time, and vision health over this at this point.
    Also, I know Migration Assistant is an option, I was told that it wouldn't work properly anyway because of the different operating systems, and the potential for problems.

  • I followed your help directions on "Corrupt extension files" under "Unable to install add-ons", foolishly deleting the files you told me to. Now firefox won't open. I tried reinstalling firefox but it still won't open. Now what do I do?

    I was trying to install the SEOQuake add on. After clicking install Firefox would hang up saying the script had timed out and asking if I want to stop it or continue. Didn't matter which option I chose nothing would happen. The only way to stop it was to close Firefox and restart. Tried restarting the computer. Still wouldn't install. Tried installing the Outwit add on and got the same error leading me to conclude it was a problem with Firefox, not the add on. I found this help page <http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Unable+to+install+add-ons?s=addons+won't+install&as=s> and did everything it told me to. Is there any way to delete the corrupt LOG files in order to add new one? The data file is ok.
    Thanks

    Here is the answer
    Hi,
    in most situations an "add log volume" does not solve
    a log full situation, because the added logvolume is
    accessible first at the moment, when the write position
    on the log is at the end of the old logvolume.
    If a LOGFULL occurs, the save log!
    All "parts" of the LogVolume are numbered and each one
    has stored the identifying number of it's predecessor and
    it successor in it's header-page. The message
         "Linkage missmatch between volume"
    means, that these values does not match any more.
    Did you somehow changed the contents of this file/device?
    If so: can you revert the change? Then the restart should
    work again. do a logbackup and your database will run again.
    If this doesn't work for you, you could patch the
    header pages of the logvolume (I assume you do not really
    want this).
    Another way to solve the situation is to do a data backup
    in admin-mode, reinstall the database and recover the
    databackup, because the removal of a logvolume is not
    supported.
    kind regards, Martin
