  • RFC User for Connectivity with ABAP Server Proxy Required?

    Hi people,
I am just wondering how I set-up my connectivity between XI and my business system B.
Our basis already set-up the connection to the runtime workbench from B->XI
For that sake they've added the xirwbuser to B (Xi has it as well, of course).
Now I am configuring the whole thing in the Directory. There I need an receiver agreement and a channel. For that I take the adapter type "XI". Anyway, I need to give here an RFC destination as well. I've added one of type "H".
And now the issue: Do I really need a separate user for that rfc connection? I thought with proxies the systems are somewhat like "hard-wired" and do not need special users.
Anyway, if I need a dedicated RFC user: Is a certain role enough or do I need special roles depending on the stuff I am doing in the business system?
    Thanks in advance!
    Helge

You can of course use an existing service user.
But for monitoring purpose it is receommended to use a seperate user. (Think about system log entries).
The user needs the role SAP_XI_APPL_SERV_USER.

    Stefan

  • Perf impact due to multiple connections with same user

We're having to allow multiple users to connect with the same user account to our 10.4.9 AFP server. This is due to restrictions of another system.
I was wondering if anyone knew of any performance issues this would cause.

This is fine - as long as you're within the limits of the server license (e.g. the 10-user license will only support 10 concurrent connections).

  • Problem connecting with non-repository owner

I'm using OWB 10gr2 with Oracle DB 10gr2
I've created a repository and can connect with the designer using that repository owner.
Within designer, I enabled another DB user for access (he got the OWB-role "everyone"). He is shown in the gloabl explorer -> security -> users.
But when I try to connect with the designer using the non-repository owner, I get some german error message saying something like "No repository available for this user".
The db user has the database roles OWB_xxx. He can connect to the database and access (read/write) the repository schema.

    Added results using ombplus.

There are 2 different errors, the latter is a syntax problem. If you own the repository you can connect without the USE REPOSITORY clause.
    OMB+> OMBCONN sales/sales@localhost:1521:orcl102
OMB01118: Could not connect to repository! PRS-00510: You need to specify which
repository to work on to establish the database connection.
    Simply use:
OMB+> OMBCONN sales/sales@localhost:1521:orcl102 USE REPOSITORY 'OWB'
    Connected.
The initial post is something else... the user I connect with in the above statement is also a target user. Should not matter. It is also in Windows XP. Does it work if you use "target user"?

  • Connecting to RMAN

While trying to connect with RMAN getting the following error :
Recovery Manager incompatible with TARGET database: RMAN 8.0.4 to 9.0.0 required
    My DataBase is:
    Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.0.1.0.0 - Production
    How to upgrade RMAN ?
    Thx

You must upgrade the whole software, of which RMAN utility is a part, you cannot upgrade RMAN alone. If your current RMAN executable is too new for your target database, you have to install an older version or to upgrade your database.

  • Problem when making new connection with user "sys"

Hi, I'm having trouble on making new connection with user sys against local 10g installation, the password is correct and I've tried making new connection with other

when I click "test" or "connect", the error msg is strange like this:
    "ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied"

Have you used the "Role" drop-down to "SYSDBA"? - if not, you get the ORA-01017 error.

  • Connection to CRX via RMI and getting WeakReference value..... with an exception!

    Hi there,
    I have the following problem.
I opened a ticket in Day Care Support system, about CRX users/group membership that got lost while synchronization with our LDAP server.
Although when the user and the group had been created (and therefore taken from that same LDAP server), the membership was good.... but after some time the membership got lost......
So what i am trying to do now is a Java program that connects to CRX via RMI.
And gets the list of all the users from a group (aka membership).
The idea is to monitor the membership each seconds.
But when trying to get the property "rep:members" of the group, I have the following exception :
    javax.jcr.ValueFormatException: Unknown value type 10

I searched a little bit and found that "10" is the number for type WeakReference.
That's normal to me because memberships are stored in the group as a list reference to users linked to that group....
Anyways, what's not normal to me is that when the type is "10" the API does not let me get the Value (cf. ServerProperty.getValues() method)

    Thanks and regards
ArslanA schema is simply all of the objects (tables, etc.) that belong to a particular user. You definitely don't need to uninstall oracle. That would be like tearing out the entire telephone system just to add a phone at your house.
Oracle provides some sample schemas. When you install Oracle, you have a choice of whether or not to create a starter database at installation, and whether or not to install one of the sample schemas. You can always create a new database after, and separately from, software installation. And you can always create one of the sample schemas after, and separately from, database creation.
Of course, those are just sample schemas. In the real world, you'd create your own to meet your own business needs.
More information on the sample schemas can be found at http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe9051jdev/common/files/b10771.pdf

  • C# remote powershell without explicitelly applying user & password (rather connection with current credentials)

    Dear all,
I would like to know, how I can open a runspace to an Exchange Server 2013 WITHOUT explicitelly applying username and password (well - this works using basic authentication).
    Following scenario :
    - A (well patched) Win 7 Enterprise Client with Exchange 2013 Client Tools installed
    - Logged in as (the) domain admin
    - Using Exchange Management Shell I can administer Exchange WITHOUT entering username/password
    - Using C# I cannot :(
Nothing helped (DefaultCredentials [even with Releasebuild], PSCredentials.Empty or null, tried All members of AuthenticationMechanism).
I wonder how Powershell itself does the thing....
There must be a way to connect with the current user credentials...
I you know, how this can be done, then provide a short snippet - please.
Please no links or something like "...try to use blablabla" - thanks :)
The thing that I would like to do is :
    - configure a runspace for the exchange server (WITHOUT user/password)
    - create that runspace
    - create a pipeline with that
    - add a command/parameters
    - invoke
    - examine the results
    - clean up
As I mentioned above - all things work well - except the thing with the "trusted connection".
It works only, if I provide a username and a password in the PSCredential parameter....
...but it should work without it...
Please provide a tested and running example :)
    Best regards

The thing that I would like to do is :
    - configure a runspace for the exchange server (WITHOUT user/password)
    - create that runspace
    - create a pipeline with that
    - add a command/parameters
    - invoke
    - examine the results
    - clean up
As I mentioned above - all things work well - except the thing with the "trusted connection".
It works only, if I provide a username and a password in the PSCredential parameter....
...but it should work without it...
Please provide a tested and running example :)
    Best regards

  • Connection to db fails from client if connecting with sqlplus user/ps@NAME

    Hi
I have just installed Oracle client 11.2 on a linux server.
When I connect with sqlplus apmr/******@apm
    I am getting:
    SQL*Plus: Release 11.2.0.2.0 Production on Thu Mar 29 11:11:17 2012
Copyright (c) 1982, 2010, Oracle. All rights reserved.
    ERROR:
ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
BUT, if I am connecting with /nolog and then insert user/password --> it success!!!
Could anyone solve this mystery ? :-)
    sqlplus /nolog
    SQL*Plus: Release 11.2.0.2.0 Production on Thu Mar 29 11:12:20 2012
Copyright (c) 1982, 2010, Oracle. All rights reserved.
    SQL> conn apmr_larisa@apm
    Enter password:
    Connected.
    Thanks

Thanks a lot for the response. I am getting the following error :
java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection. Before asking you to get the help from your DBA, i would suggest to check couple of things like:
    1) Write a standalone program and check whether everytime you are getting connection. If answer is yes.
    2) Check whether in your web application do jdbc jar's are there (in lib folder) . If answer is yes. Check the version of jars. because the application first checks the dependant jars in application lib folder, if not found then it checks at classpath.
So this might casuse a problem.
If no luck after doing above steps, then i would suggest to ask the DBA, does DB goes down frequently? and show him that error. Because the error is pure say's SID is not up and running.

My guess is that the security settings on your router and iPod do not match.
For a test, change your router so there is no security.  See if you can connect and get to the Internet. If that works, set up the router with security and use the same settings for the iPod.

  • Fail to connect on Citrix with Limited User but succeeds with Admin user

On one of our customer's installations which is on a Citrix server, the users cannot connect to the database when they are Limited users. But if the same user is promoted to Administrator it can connect.
The Application uses ODP.Net to connect. Other tools in the installation that use ODBC works for limited users.
The OracleConnection.Open method throws an exception without an error message.
    The stack trace is:
at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException.HandleErrorHelper(Int32 errCode, OracleConnection conn, IntPtr opsErrCtx, OpoSqlValCtx* pOpoSqlValCtx, Object src, String procedure)
at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleException.HandleError(Int32 errCode, OracleConnection conn, IntPtr opsErrCtx, Object src)
    at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection.Open()
On the server we have installed Oracle Client 10.2.0.1 where the .Net provider also is installed (otherwise it would not work for the admin user either).
Anyone who has a clue on why this strange behavior happens?
    / Nils

That was a known issue in 10201, and should be resolved by patching the client up to 10204. You do that by applying the database patch to the client, and you can get the 10204 database patch on Metalink.
