CP5: Roll-over hand not appearing on button

Ok - I have 2 different buttons and one the hand appears when the user rolls over the button and on the other it does not (even though I have the option checked in properties).
The two types of buttons I have:
1. transparent button over an image
2. text button
The transparent button over an image is the one having problems. I am not sure what I am missing - the button works, it goes to the correct place, but the hand that lets the user know to click is not coming up.
Thoughts?
Sarabeth

It sounds like you have inserted the image inside the button.  That is a viable approach, having the image inside each button on the over frame (only, not in the hit frame)... saves you from needs to use any code.  You make the button change color by cg=hanging its color in the over frame as well.
If you want to use actionscript for this, then you'll need to show what you have tried already.

  • Roll over images not appearing in a preview

    I've created a new project and have had had previous success in making roll over images/captions work but now nothing in this new project is appearing when I preview the slide, not the images or the roll over captions.  I'm using Captivate 6.
    Sorry if i'm not explaining it properly but I've only started using the program this week and have no idea about any of it.
    cheers
    Emma

    Hi Emma
    I note you said: Preview the *SLIDE*. And in that type of preview, all you will ever be able to do is to view when objects appear or disappear or move. Interactive objects such as rollovers will never work in the slide preview. You must preview a different way. (Project, Next X number of slides, From this slide, etc)

  • Flash Buttons- "Over" option not overlapping other buttons

    Hi,
    How do you make the "over" for buttons universally appear on top? When I made 4 flash buttons side by side, i am wanting to make it so that when you hover over one of the buttons a rectangle expands to show a description of that button- this rectangle should be large enough to cover over the other three buttons but for some reason the other buttons are still visible over the rectangle. I have made it so the top button layer is at the top and then the 2nd button underneath that so on...however when i hover over the 2nd button, the rectangle description box doesn't cover over the first button. How would I be able to make it so that the "over" rectangles are always covering all three other buttons?
    as you can see below, this is when i hover over the second button, the rectangle isnt able to cover the first button.
    Please is there a solution to this? I am wanting it to work very much like when you hover over icons similar to rollover for websites.
    I appreciate anyone that can help.

    Yes for some reason in AS2 you can't use swapDepths() directly with Buttons—however most of us don't use buttons because they are so twitchy and weird.
    If you do want to use real buttons and you do want to swap their depths you can use this code:
    Button.prototype.swapDepths = MovieClip.prototype.swapDepths;
    You just need that once at the beginning of your code. It tells Flash that Buttons know what MovieClips know about swaping depths. I've used it in a few tests, but in general I don't use buttons. Instead I use MovieClips.

  • Sound will not export with video in only 3 scenes, but exports fine in other scenes for the most part. In the last scene the audio does export to video, but the this scene is a video that I imported with rolling credits. the rolling credits do not appear

    The above title should explain my problem, I have been working on this for a while and I am getting exhausted

    Why not post this in the iMove forum area?

  • How do I make a textbox appear in a PDF made in InDesign CC when the cursor rolls over another textbox?

    I'm trying to make a textbox appear in a PDF made in InDesign when the user rolls the cursor over another textbox, and I want it to disappear when the cursor moves off the first textbox. I've tried the following with various setting, and it's just not working for me.
    Display a different button on rollover
    You can create a hot spot in which clicking or mousing over an object displays another object. To do this, create two buttons, hide one of the buttons, and use the Show/Hide Button action to show and hide the target button.
    Create an object to be used as the source button. In the Buttons panel, click the Convert Object To A Button icon.
    Place the image you want to be used as the target button, and convert it to a button.
    Select the target image and select Hidden Until Triggered at the bottom of the Buttons panel.
    The image needs to be hidden in the exported document so that it can be displayed when the source button is moused over or clicked.
    Select the source button and create two different actions, one to show the target image and a second to hide the target image.
    If you want the image to appear when the mouse hovers over the source button, use the On Roll Over and On Roll Off events. If you want the image to appear when you click the source button and disappear when you release it, use the On Click and On Release events. In either case, use the Show/Hide Buttons action to display and hide the target button. See Make buttons interactive.
    Use the Preview panel to test the buttons.

    Here's more information about what I'm doing.
    1. create text box with a little text
    2. turn it into a button (Button 1)
    3. create another text box with some text
    4. turn this into a button (Button 2)
    5. check "Hidden Until Triggered" for Button 2
    6. For Button 1, select "On Roll Over" for Event
    7. For Button 1, click + to add Action and choose "Show/Hide Buttons and Forms"
    8. For Button 1, change icon next to Button 2 into eyeball (which I assume makes Button 2 visible on roll over).
    9. For Button 1,, select "On Roll Off" for Event
    7. For Button 1, click + to add Action and choose "Show/Hide Buttons and Forms"
    8. For Button 1, change icon next to Button 2 into crossed-out eyeball (which I assume makes Button 2 invisible on roll off).
    8. Export to PDF with modified smallest file size and include bookmarks and hyperlinks and include appearance for interactive elements.
    Both buttons are visible in the PDF, and nothing happens with roll over and off.

  • Making Roll over images from photoshop layout

    Hello Everyone,
    I am working on a website and I have sliced my parts of my Photoshop file.
    I have saved as a html with images as well!
    How would I amek a roll over image out of the buttons I made in photoshop and sliced?

    Best thing you can do is delete that HTML file from Photoshop and use the slices and build the code in Dreamweaver.  You will be much better off.
    The simplest solution is to save the 2 states of your button as 2 separate images then click on Insert->Image Objects->Rollover Image.  Then select your before and after image.  Just remember to upload the javascript file Dreamweaver creates during this process or it won't work online.

  • I'm trying to find code that has a seek bar roll over effect as HULU and YouTube.

    Hi
    The seekbar roll over will not just show the NetStream.time but also has the frames screen shot.  I've searched several sites but no clear answer yet.
    I'm using actionscript 3 in FLash CC and can also use Flash Builder.

  • Button doesn't appear until rolled over

    I have a form button (
    http://mermapillar.com/shop_onesies.php)
    that has a rollover state using another image. My problem is that
    the button does not display until it is rolled over.
    Do I need to force the 'Active' state of the button to appear
    immediately upon loading the page? How should I do this?

    If you want to use Flash for navigation, consider this -
    1. Some people don't have Flash installed - what do they do?
    2. Search engines don't parse Flash links - your site will
    not be spidered
    3. Screen assistive devices don't parse Flash links - what
    will those users
    do?
    4. DW cannot maintain links within a Flash movie, so if you
    move or rename
    a linked file, your navigation will break - what will you do?
    It's usually a very bad idea for these reasons...
    Which button?
    What is this?
    .style5 {
    font-size: 96px96px96px96px
    And why the extraordinary height -
    .oneColElsCtr #container {
    width: 840px;
    background: #FFFFFF; /* the auto margins (in conjunction
    with a width)
    center the page */
    border: 1px none #000000;
    text-align: left; /* this overrides the text-align: center
    on the body
    element. */
    height: 1900px;

    To make sure that all required media is in the library contain the project you need to "Consolidate media"  see:  http://help.apple.com/imovie/mac/10.0/#mov882dee351
    You can then copy the library to your laptop with the Finder and open it with the same version of iMovie.  The last phrase is important since Apple has made changes in the project format several times even between minor updates of iMovie 10.  Earlier versions may not be able to read the library and later versions (not possible in this case) may cause the project to be updated so that it is no longer readable by the desktop version.   iMovie on the laptop will not at first find the copied library - you will have either to double click on it or File - Open library - Other and navigate to its location.

  • Buttons/MC on timeline don't appear until mouse roll over in browser

    Hello all,
    I am experiencing some weird behavior with some moveclips and buttons on my video player; (as2)
    http://websites.danielnwilliams.co.uk/crankmedia/
    I have created a video player that has the scrubber/playpause button actually move with the position in the video. There are other links that appear when the main video is at a certain point. There seems to be 2 problems with it which I cant figure out what is going on...
    -1st is that the scrubber is actually linked to the timeline (where the buttons are on) with the follwing code;
    MovieClip.prototype.scrubbb2 = function (x)
        var f2:Number = Math.round (this._totalframes * x);
        this.gotoAndStop (f2);
    For some reason the timeline starts from when the video is buffering, so its all out of sync with certain points in the video. But when you move the scrubber, the timeline seems to 'snap' into place and then all the videos line up. What have I done wrong here?!
    -2nd is that the link buttons will not appear unless the mouse is over the flash video player on the webpage. If your mouse is out of the video player nothing appears when its meant to. as soon as you put the mouse cursor into the flash player the links (that are meant to be visible) appear instantly. Is there a way to make them always appear on time?!
    Any help is greatly appreciated
    Cheers
    Dan

    yes, you can use, add and remove cuepoints in as2 but that's not what you should do for a scrubber.  you should use the metadata event to determine your flv's duration and use a loop (eg enterframe), to update the scrubber's position based on the duration and the netstream's time property.
    when your scrubber is dragged, delete the enterframe loop and use the seek() method to direct the stream to the correct point.
    you'll use a little algebra control your scrubber's position based on the netstream's time and you'll control your seek parameter based on the scrubber's position:
    // to determine the seek time given the scrubber.dragbar position:
    paramF(scrubber.dragbar,0,0,scrubber._width-scrubber.dragbar._width,duration);
    // to determine the scrubber.dragbar position given the netstream time
    paramF(scrubber,0,0,duration,scrubber._width-scrubber.dragbar._width);
    function paramF(mc:MovieClip,x1:Number,y1:Number,x2:Number,y2:Number){
    mc.m=(y1-y2)/(x1-x2);
    mc.b=y1-mc.m*x1;

  • Menu's photoshop buttons not rolling over

    Hello all,
    I have created some layered buttons in photoshop. All is well, they roll over and work lovely in simulator but when I create a build and open it in the Macintosh DVD player the rollovers dont roll!
    What am I doing wrong?
    As always thenks in advance
    Matt

    Repeat after me: DVD is not Flash, DVD is not Flash, DVD is not Flash...
    The majority of DVD players don't have the option of rolling over as the majority of DVD players don't have a mouse attached to them.
    Layered menus use a behind-the-scenes trick to do their work, involving a series of normal menus connected with auto-activating buttons. However, you wouldn't want buttons to auto-activate with a simple rollover in a software DVD player. Therefore, software players require two clicks for layered menus: one to select (which actually just triggers the auto-activating button and hops to the "selected" menu layer), and another to activate.
    Yet another reason not to use layered menus, IMO.

  • Over State and actions not working with buttons in Flash cs4

    Hi - I am working on a Flash file and some of the buttons in the document are not working.When I test the movie the hand cursor appears when I hover over the buttons they don't change colour (as specified in the over state) and the actions don't work. Not sure what is going on here as I created other buttons in the same document the same way and they work fine. Thanks in advance.

    If you remove the code from the buttons do they react properly to a mouse over interaction?
    What is the code that is in place?
