CPO-Web Service Queries

Hi All,
I am trying to start a process using web service.
I want to know,
1. How to get Task waiting for inputs of a user by web service.
2. How to get instance id of a process .
3. What is process start point ID or Name.( which is one of the parameter to start a process by web service ).
4. What is get-output variables by web service.

I agree with Warren -- you should be able to go to design center, but for a customer reference point.... here are some answers.
1. How to get Task waiting for inputs of a user by web service.
[SHAUN]: There is a web service for Task @ http://<CPO HOST>:<Web Service Port>/WS/TASK?WSDL which has Create/Update/View methods. I have not used it before so I'm not sure the exacts. Look to the NorthBound Web Service guide for help. It's on cisco.com in the documentation area for CPO.
2. How to get instance id of a process .
[SHAUN]: There is an exposed property if you are looking in the process itself. When you start a process via Web Services, you get the ID as an output. What are you trying to accomplish? Again look to the NBWS guide.
3. What is process start point ID or Name.( which is one of the parameter to start a process by web service ).
[SHAUN]:
If you configured a start point in your process, then you can send that in a web call, otherwise remove it as it would be optional.
4. What is get-output variables by web service.
[SHAUN]: If you use the processinstance wsdl (or http://<CPO HOSTNAME>:<WS PORT>/WS/ProcessInstance?WSDL there is a "GetOutputVariablesFor<PROCESS_NAME>" that you can use to get the output of variables once the process is complete.

  • Apach AXIS Web Service Queries

    Hi All,
we are thinking to use Apache AXIS Web Service. We have few compatibility queries for Axis Web Service
Does it support complex types (i.e. Array of Java Objects if my web service returns)? If yes do you have any documentation?
How do we convert SOAP fault into Application specific exception?
    How to encode SOAP messages?
    Ideal size of SOAP messages?
Let me know if you require more information.
    Thanks
    Chintan

I've just looked into this a bit more and discovered that AXIS will use log4j provided that an implementation of log4j is on the classpath of the server or client. Like I said before, what I would do is provide an implementation of log4j on the classpath and then provide a log4j.properties (or xml) file in the classpath.
    From the docs:
Axis includes a preconfigured log4j.properties file in axis.jar. While this is adequate for basic use, any complex project will want to modify their own version of the file. Here is what to do
    1. Open up axis.jar in a zipfile viewer and remove log4j.properties from the jar
    2. Or, when building your own copy of axis.jar, set the Ant property exclude.log4j.configuration to keep the properties file out the JAR.
    3. Create your own log4J.properties file, and include it in WEB-INF/classes (server-side), in your main application JAR file client side.
    4. Edit this log4J properties file to your hearts content. Server side, setting up rolling logs with fancy html output is convenient, though once you start clustering the back end servers that ceases to be as usuable. Log4J power tools, such as 'chainsaw', are the secret here.
If you want to remove logging altogether you can try just removing the log4j.properties file from the axis.jar. I wouldn't recommend this though and I have no idea what affect this will have ...

  • How to add a new filter in an existing web service method (BIWS - WEBI document)

Hello Experts, we have 7 web service query's connected to a dashboard. Basically it is one WSDL URL and 7 Get Methods...Web service queries are BIWS (via WEBI document instance). There are filters setup for each of these web service methods.
Recently there was a request to add 2 new fields to the webi document and also the 2 fields need to be included as filters in the 7 methods. I know there is an option to edit the method, but when i edit the method, i cannot find the 2 new fields in list to set as filters. Can anybody help me understand how to add filters to an existiing web service method? I do not want to delete the method and republish the block as web service.
Any help will be great and points rewarded.
    Thank you
    Ann

    Hi Ann,
The reason you are not able to see any of the new columns as a option to select in your web service block is because when you have published that block, they were not present. Add these two new objects in your block and publish it again. You will be prompted for duplication content. Select the highlighted block for duplicate and now you can see the new added objects in the filter option. Update and this will overwrite your published block. Please note, web services do appear to behave weirdly when used with dashboards so I request you to please try it in a separate test report first.
    Hope that helps.

  • General queries related to implementing the web service

    Hi all,
I am new to web services, so I would like to get some of the queries solved which I am facing as of now.
    - If in a function of web service, there are three parameters defined, in which one is input parameter while remaining others are output parameters, then from the client invoking that web service has to provide only the input parameter as an argument or all the three arguments should be provided?
    Please let me know.
    Thanks

I really can't say about the input / output parameters. My guess is that you can't really have ByRef output variables, because the web method call is marshalled into XML and you only get a reply in XML based on the return type of the web method. What I'm trying to say is: only use the method's return value to receive output. Create complex Objects that can be mapped to XML to do that.
The way to call the web service from java is to parse the WSDL document for the web service and see what kind of input messages the web service requires and what type of output messages it produces.
As far as I know there are two ways to parse the WSDL.
    1) If you know the location of the WSDL during development you can use it as an input to tools like wsimport in order to create a Service Endpoint Interface.
    2) If you only know the WSDL location during runtime, you have to parse the document either by DOM/SAX etc either by using libraries such as wsdl4j
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/wsdl4j
    I hope I've helped.

  • Queries regarding creating Web Services in Oracle EBS 11i[Workaround found]

    Hi,
We have an E-Business Suite 11i installation(11.5.10.2). In our implementation we are using some of the public APIs to insert & update data in EBS tables. Earlier this was done by calling the required PL/SQL procedures through dblinks.
Now, we need to do the same by using Web Services. That is we need a Web Service which can be invoked from a different application(SAP) and the Web Service in turn will call the APIs.
I am new to Web Services/SOA and as far as I could understand from reading the documentation, we need the following:
    1. Install Oracle 10g Application Server with BPEL Process Manager ONLY(Oracle AS Adapter will be installed as part of BPEL PM. The Oracle AS Adapter will connect 10gAS to EBS)
    2. JDeveloper to create and deploy the BPEL process.
I have a few questions here:
    1. Are the above two points the only prerequisites for what I want to achieve? Do I need to install anything else?
    2. How do I expose the created Web Service? I mean how will the 3rd party application invoke this Web Service?
Answers and/or links to helpful documents awaited.
    Regards,
    -Sujoy
Found an alternate and more cost-effective solution. Turns out that the SAP PI/XI engine can use JDBC to connect to the Oracle DB. SAP PI/XI will host the Web Service and will internally access the API through a JDBC connection.

    Hi Helios,
I had checked the note that you are referring to before posting here. It did provide me with a start but otherwise it wasn't a great help (also some of the links are broken) . Since I am quite new to this...I am not sure whether I am proceeding in the right direction. An example/tutorial is what would be pretty useful.
    Thanks anyway!

  • Creating web services from queries

    Hi experts,
Does anyone know if it is possible to turn a query designer query into a web service? If so where can I find out how to do this?
    Thank you!
    Regards,
    Ale

    Ale,
first make sure you carry out the steps a to e outlined in
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/d8/3bfc3f8fc2c542e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
This creates a generic Query Web Service.
In order to run it with your own query, try the following steps:
    1. Activate the services:
    - Go to SICF
    - Click on the Execute button
    - Drill down to default_host -> sap -> bc -> srt -> rfc -> sap
    - Every node in this path has to be displayed in bold black font. If a node is grey, right-click it and select "Activate Service" from the drop-down menu
    - Underneath the "sap" node you will find "QUERY_VIEW_DATA". Also activate it if necessary.
    2. Test your web service
    - Go to WSADMIN
    - Drill down to SOAP Application for RFC-Compliant FMs -> QUERY_VIEW_DATA  -> QUERY_VIEW_DATA
    - Select Web Service QUERY_VIEW_DATA
    - Click on the buttom that looks like a screw clamp (Web Service Homepage). This should start your browser and you are required to log in.
    3. Running your query
    - You should now see details about your web service (Query_View_Data)
    - Click on the "test" link at the top
    - Click on the link "GetQueryViewData (test.types.p1.GetQueryViewData parameters)"
    - Now you see all input parameters for this web service. Fill out the following:
Infoprovider: (name of your query's underlying IP)
Query: (technical name of your query)
optional: ViewID: (name of your saved query view)
    4. Execute
    - Clicking on the "Send" button should now execute your query and you will get the result back.
    - For implementing a web service client, have a look at the WSDL file which you can see by clicking on the "Overview" link and then on the WSDL link
    Hope this helps,
    Dennis
    Please assign points if useful.

  • How to consume a web service provided by third party system from SAP system

    Hi Friends,
Could any of you provide me a clear picture on how to consume a web service from SAP system and is provided by a third party system?
Do we get an URL to create a client proxy for consuming the web service?
    Thanx in advance,
    Ram

    Hi Ram,
of course you cannot supply the WSDL URL. Inside the WSDL (just view it in your browser) you find (usually but not necessary) towards the end something like
    <soap:address location="http://www.weather.gov/forecasts/xml/SOAP_server/ndfdXMLserver.php"/>
which is the actual adress of the service.
An example service can be found here:
    <a href="http://www.weather.gov/xml/">National Digital Forecast Database</a>
    containing the WSDL URL at
    <a href="http://www.weather.gov/forecasts/xml/DWMLgen/wsdl/ndfdXML.wsdl">this address</a>.
You might also want to browse for the amazon webservices which allow you to embed queries against amazon into your application.
    have fun,

  • Sharepoint 2010 search service from C# web service and Powershell - passing credentials to search

    Good morning everyone,
I really need your expert help about the following issue. I ve developed a web service in C#. Its core code has a Powershell script inside which makes a call to SharePoint 2010 search service to make some search queries, and returns some URL of some files.
In Powershell code I make connection to SharePoint search service using the Farm Admin account. This system works, but given results are not filetered by the user using the web service (I remember you I m using the Farm admin account in PS code)
How can I use user account to make some queries ? How can I filter search results by user ? In Powershell code I put username and password of Farm Admin account and I know them because I m the farm administrator, but
what about if I want to pass Powershell code some other user credentials ? Of course I cannot know his credential ..  Can I do it , in which way ?
Any help is really appreciated !
    Gae

Hi Gae, if you are using web services, you shouldn't need to add a SharePoint DLL to your project. I would advise against using C# -> PS -> Web Service Call -> PS -> C# if you could go straight C# -> Web Service -> C#.
Anyways, back to the matter at hand. Do you know what type of authentication your SharePoint server is running? Is it direct NTLM, NTLM over Kerberos, Claims, or something different?
The following article provides the various types of impersonation available in SharePoint:

  • "Unable to load URL" - SQL Server 2005 DB Web Service Connection

    Hi ,
I am using XCelsius version 5.0.0.99 to create dashboards connecting to SQL Server 2005.
Find below the details of the steps -
    1. Created a web service within SQL Server 2005 database.
    2. Copied the WSDL URL.
    3. In XCelsius 2008 -> Data Manager -> Web Service Connection, pasted the URL in the WSDL URL input box and clicked "Import" to import the methods. At this point I am getting "Unable to load URL" .
Am I missing any step ?
Any suggestion would be highly appreciated.
Note : I have tested the web service by using it in a ASP.Net project and works fine.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Error :unable to Load URL occurs" because Crystal xcelsius only support single schema web service created from Query as a web service and Flynet tool available in xcelsius 2008.
    The reason:

  • SOAP, Web Service Interaction using Flex 2

A Web Service exists on the local computer. It is a .NET
Framework web service (SOAP) running under IIS. It commences with a
demand for three parameters. One fills in the form and presses a
button on the form and is returned an XML file with vital data
necessary for future web service transactions that will involve
SQL-form queries and XML responses. Actions that Flex 2 is required
to perform: 1) submit a URI and receive a form, 2) POST a response
to the form and receive an XML file, 3) submit a query, 4) reformat
an XML file to remove irrelevant data and to make a Flex 2 data
provider happy so that a chart can be displayed. I assume Flex 2
can do all these things and it is just a matter of knowing how.

Your description is a bit confusing. The webservice in
question has a single method that takes three parameters, and
returns a FORM? What are the three parameters, and what, exactly,
    do you mean by "form".
When I hear "form", I usually think of an HTML form with text
input fields, comboboxes, radio buttons, etc. But, in general,
properly developed webservices do not return UI elements (such as
text input fields, comboboxes, and radio buttons). They are
typically only used as a communication method in the model layer,
where they return datasets or process responses. And the view layer
(in this case, Flex) is responsible for building any UI elements
that collect data for the interaction with the webservice.
But, okay, let's say, for some odd reason, this webservice
returns a form (as I am thinking of the term). What format is this
form in? I personally can't think of a readily available method
that could display this form with a Flex app, but maybe I'm missing
something. Or is it that, by "form", you mean something completely
different, like a second method in the webservice that receives
posted data? What is actually returned in your step #1?
Step #2 is a cinch. Simply create an HTTPService tag (or in
script, create URLLoader and URLRequest objects) in your app that
posts the appropriate data to the appropriate webservice URL with
the appropriate method. In the callback handler function for that
webservice call, a (properly formatted) XML response will be
converted automatically to a "Flex-friendly" data object, which you
can easily parse apart to build your SQL as necessary.
Step #3, again, where do you submit the query to? A third
method in the webservice? If so, it would be just like #2 above.
And the response data would, again, be automatically converted into
    a Flex data object.
Step #4 would probably be accomplished more by manipulating
the Flex data object rather than any reformatting of the XML.
Simply loop through the object and remove irrelevant children/data.
Then set a bindable variable to the cleaned data object, and have
your chart bound to that variable.
There are many many examples on the web. Just search for
'flex "mx:HTTPService"' or similar. And take a look through
LiveDocs for [Bindable] for step #4.

  • How to access and display a Web Service from a WSDL in JSP or JSTL ?

    Dear All,
We need to access a Web Service which is hosted as WSDL How to access a WSDL file from JSP or JSTL, parse and display the SOAP response in JSP page.
Any simple example or URL as reference to an example will be useful for me.
It seems io tags of jakarta is able to send soap message, but how to display it in JSP.
    Yours,
    Sankar.B

    Dear Sir,
Yes. I would like to know more about the Forte and how to consume WSDL file from JSTL. The following are my querirs.
    1. How to connect the declared JNDI from a JSP page. i.e: the Datasource - ex: booksDS
    2. We connect the Tomcat server using JNDI as jdbc/scott. But, if I give jdbc/scott in JSTL as datasource={jdbc/scott}, we could not able to connect. We use the following code in a JSP page to connect the DB from a JSP page. (Its quite easy to modify, so we use the connection in a JSP page.)
    3. How to Consume a WSDL url from JSTL. Ex: If there is a URL : http://localhost/ws/MathService.asmx?wsdl OR http://www.xmethods.com/test/BabelFish
    4. How to display the result. We tried via SOAP from io taglib of Jakarta, but gives us an SOAP (it also looks like xml) response. But, how to use the value from that soap response in IE client thru JSTL/JSP.
    5. Whether this JSTL tool will be available with Forte Enterprise/Community Edition. If so EE, whats the price.
Please Reply Immediatly. We tried, trying, going to try to display a wsdl response, but not able to display in IE thru JSP/JSTL. But, weve tested the www.gotdotnet.com examples of asp.net web services, we are thru. Its quite easy it seems in .NET. But, we feel whether even there is not even one example in JSTL/ Java Web Services Dev. Pack to utilise a web service in full cycle. The example which uve given is thru servlets. We dont use servlets. Cos, its very easy to edit JSP pages, instead of compiling the serv. and using it.
I hope ull reply for all the above queries, since ur from SUN.
    Expecting your fav. reply.
    Yours,

  • Creating a LOV based in a Web Service

    Hey guys...
I need to create a Lov based in a Web Service Result, but in always getting the same error:
LOV query is invalid, a display and a return value are needed, the column names need to be different. If your query contains an in-line query, the first FROM clause in the SQL statement must not belong to the in-line query.
    Queries that I'm trying:
    Original Query:
    select extractValue(value(t),'/*/imgLocation','xmlns="http://oracle.ovs.api/types/"') "imgLocation"

    table(xmlsequence(extract(xmltype.createxml(c.clob001),'//getAllTemplateResourcesResponseElement/result','xmlns="http://oracle.ovs.api/types/"'))) t
    where c.collection_name = 'P1_GETALLTEMPLATERESOURCES2_RESULTS'
    Other Query that I tried:

And I tried creating a view, but I dont know where I have to put this.. Maybe in another process?
    create view as
    select imgLocation, imgName from (
    select extractValue(value(t),'/*/imgLocation','xmlns="http://oracle.ovs.api/types/"') "imgLocation"
    , extractValue(value(t),'/*/imgName','xmlns="http://oracle.ovs.api/types/"') "imgName"
    from wwv_flow_collections c,
    table(xmlsequence(extract(xmltype.createxml(c.clob001),'//getAllTemplateResourcesResponseElement/result','xmlns="http://oracle.ovs.api/types/"'))) t
    where c.collection_name = 'P1_GETALLTEMPLATERESOURCES2_RESULTS')
    Thanks

    Fox,
I'd start by adding column aliases D and R to the query and see if that helps.

  • Web Service receives no data from Stored Procedure call.

Issue: When calling a Stored Procedure from a Web Service no data is returned.
Lead up: I can call the SP 100 times a day for 3-4 days then for some reason the Web Service no longer get the data from SQL. I have ran a trace and I can see the SP running though all of its steps and returning the data, but the Web Service
    is not getting it.
    Fix: None yet.
Work around: Before the Web Service calls the SP, I am sending an SP_Recompile to the SP in question. For now this seems to have resolved the issue.
    Detail:
    1. SP is querying data from another DB on the same server.
    2. SP is storing query data in Temp Tables.

    Hello,
Does your Stored Procedure have parameters? If so, the issue may be cause by parameter sniffing. Please refer to the following blog about Paraemeter Sniffing:
    http://www.sommarskog.se/query-plan-mysteries.html
The recommended fix for most situations is to not use parameters directly in queries, but rather store them into local variables and then use those variables in the queries.

  • Excel Function to query BW using Web Services API

    Hello,
I need to write an Excel function as an .XLA that will do the following:
It will be invoked like any other Excel function. E.g. =GetCost(param p1, param p2)
This function queries an InfoCube and must return a single numerical value for the Cell in Excel that the function is used in.
I have never done anything like this before. I have done a decent amount of reading to discover the best way to attack this. It seems like the best way to create this functionality is to:
    1. create a web service in a BW function group with a function module that is RFC enabled.
    2. I'm thinking the function module will use native SQL to query the InfoCube and pull the value and then somehow pass this value to a web service.
    3. The value in the web service will be accessed through it's API in Excel/VBA.
I am not sure if this is best way to do this, or if it is even possible to do it this way. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I am heading down the right path and possibly direct me to a tutorial or other information that would aid in accomplishing this. I have yet to find some type of proof of concept from beginning to end on how to do something like this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
