Create a universe based on multiple existing universes

I have a BI 4 SP02 installed in Windows OS. I am using Information design tool to create data foundation to connect to multiple data sources. Instead of using multiple database connection, can I create a data foundation to connect to multiple universes. My intention is not to create new universe based on multiple databases. Instead, I want to combine two existing universes as one and create report from that. Is it possible to do? if so, may I know how to do that?
Thank you

Hi
If you want to combine two universes and make a report of it, it is possible by universe linking concept.
If you have two universes for example, then these two universes have to be linked by using any of these two methods.
1. Add link
2. Include link
Add Link : Complete reusing of an existing universe in the current universe.
Steps
1. File > parameters > link tab> Add link> browse for the universe> open > ok.
Then make the join between the common object.
Save and export.
Include link: Partially reusing of the existing in the current universe with few modifications.
Steps
1.File > parameters > link tab> Include link> browse for the universe> open > ok.
Hope it helps.

  • Is it possible to create universe based on multiple datasources

    Hi,
    I am using BO XIR3 version...
    My need is to create universe which dhould point to multiple database sources.
    I am aware the this can be achieved by creating universes based on each of these dbs and then using add query and merge dimension synchronizing data...
    Is there any better way then described above.
    Thanks,

    Hi Samunder,
           There is a concept called Linking of universes which allow you to link two universes and the final universe acts as if it was a single universe.
           You can get more details on linking universes in the Designer guide. But, this method is not suggested as there are many limitations and performance issues.
           But if the user wants a single universe rather than two universes you can go for this.

  • Universes based on BW: multilingual universes?

    Hi,
    we are using BO with SAP BW and have several universes for use with WebI and Xcelsius. It's necessary that the characteristics and key figures are avilable in different languages. I know the "Translation Manager", that comes with BOE a little bit - can I use it for universes based on BW? Do I have other possibilities (maybe directly in BW)?
    Thanks!

    You can go with "Translation Manager" from BO.
    Thank You!!

  • Create another BP based on an existing BP

    Hi Gurus
    For CRM 2007 I want to create a BP based on a the details of a BP selected by a user.
    How would this be done? I haven't found any useful threads on this subject.
    Thanks
    Panduranga

    Hi Panduranga,
    Stephen is very right about this - there is no way to copy a business partner.
    However, we have tried in the past to develop this functionality - and also the functionality to change the category after copying.This is some info that will help you while creating a copy program -
    1. The easiest way is to use APIs. Start by calling BUPA_CENTRAL_GET_DETAIL usign the BP number. THis will give you all the central data for the BP - e.g. name, etc. Now, merely feed the output of this module into the module BUPA_CREATE_FROM_DATA. This will create a new BP with the same data of the old BP.
    2. Now that the main BP is ready, you need to start copying the individual datasets - addresses, bank details, roles, Id, industry,etc. This is tricky - the ADD apis - BUPA_ADDRESS_ADD, BUPA_ROLE_ADD, etc can only create one record in a call. So, you need to first get the data of the reference BP using the GET_DETAIL api e.g. : BUPA_ADDRESS_GET_DETAIL, then loop at each returned record, and pass that into the correspinding ADD BAPI.
    3. Be sure to call BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT at the end to commit the data to the DB.
    I hope this helps you.
    Cheers,
    Rishu.

  • How to create a chart based on an existing report by passing variables?

    Hi,
    I have created a report (REP01). I've put a link on a column (table_name), on clicking it takes to another interactive report (REP02) that use table_name as filter.
    Now, I want to create a flash chart (Chart02) on this page of second report which refresh automatically based on the selection. I am running APEX 4.0.2 so flash chart is not an issue.
    My question is, how can I pass the parameters (table-name etc.) to the chart(chart02) so that it will refresh according to the criteria of the first report (REP01).
    Help is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Tarun

    In the first one I used the link functionality and pass parameter as IR_...
    But I can't see how to set them up for chart or pass them to chart.
    If you explain it how, it'd be helpful.

  • Can we create a monitor based on an existing rule in SCOM?

    We see the built-in rule "Collect Buffer cache hit ratio" under "SQL 2008 DB Engine". And it is apparatently a collect type of rules and by default it doesn't generate any alert if the buffer cache hit ratio is lower than our threshold. Is there any way we can create a custom monitor based on this built-in rules so we can get alerts for the low ratio?

    Sure, you should be able to author a monitor that looks at this performance counter (assuming it's a performance counter in SQL) and generate an alert if it's above a particular threshold. Essentially the new monitor would look at the counter independently
    from the rule that's there already....
    This does not answer the question if the Collection rule is not based on a Perfmon counter.  One such example is Total messages in queue for the Microsoft Message Queuing management packs.  What I would like to do is set a static threshold based on
    the data already collected by the "Collect Total Messages in All Queues" rule.  This rule is based on a script, not a perf mon counter.
    Is there a way to monitor the data that has already been collected with a static threshold, without building a separate collection rule and monitor?

  • Creating smart album based on multiple albums

    Hi,
    I would like to create a smart album based on the ratings of the photo and based on more than 1 album. Is this possible? because when i do try to base the condition on more than 1 album, no photos in my smart album show up.
    Thank you.

    crouton800:
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. No, that won't work A smart album can only search one album to display a specific rating photo in that album. That is, the criteria would be Album is A and rating is 5 star with the "all" selected.
    That's because the All or Any criteria prevent you from trying to find only the 5 star photos in Album A and B. If you use the "all" criteria you'll get no hits and if you use the "any" criteria you'll get all of the photos in both A and B.
    Also you can't have a smart folder, only a smart album.
    What you need is for the following criteria to be invoked:
    Album is A and rating is 5
    and
    Album is B and rating is 5
    and that can't be done with the present application.
    You can get around this limitation by assigning a unique keyword to every photo in Album A, B and future albums in that folder. Then do a a smart album with the criteria:
    Keyword is "xxxx"
    Rating is 5 star
    and have the "All" selected.

  • Creating merged output based on multiple layers.

    I have a file with 4 different layer groups. One layer is a shading layer applied on top of every layer. The other 3 layers contain I'd like to be able to automate/script it so that one layer from each group can get merged into one exported tif file, ideally named by the title of each layer (ie 01Blue-02Green-03yellow.tif).
    Right now I select the layers I want to use, then apply a custom action that exports it to tif. I have to rename the file after. Its very laborious, and I make now & again I make a mistake about which layers were selected.
    I'm currently running CS4
    Thanks!

    Jess,
    As my understanding of what you want:
    I made a psd with the following layers (from the bottom up) background (white), blue (a layer with something blue on it - layer name "blue"), green (a layer with something green on it - layer name "green") and finally red (a layer with something red on it - layer name, you guessed it "red"). The script will then save out layers, red, blue and green as TIFFS with the layername as the filename
    This script will work but it assumes a couple of things:
    1, the top layer is your shading layer,
    2, the background is included.
    I wasn't sure if you ment "groups" as in a number of things or layersets (layer groups) so those will get exported but will be blank
    // tiff export with shaded layers
    // use at your own risk
    // call the source document
    var srcDoc = app.activeDocument;
    var numOfLayers = srcDoc.layers.length;
    // main loop starts here
    for (var i = numOfLayers -2; i >= 1  ; i--)
        //var tempLayer = srcDoc.activeLayer.name;
        var tempLayer = srcDoc.layers[i]

    app.activeDocument.close(SaveOptions.DONOTSAVECHANGES);

  • How to create a campaign based on a template using the REST API

    Hi CodeIt-ers,
    I'm using the REST API to create campaigns in Eloqua 10, all works well except for 1 thing: I can't seem to create a campaign based on an existing Campaign template.
    Based on the documentation on REST API - Accessing Campaigns I've tried using "sourceTemplateId" (code snippet below) but that did not do the trick.
    Does that functionality simply not work or am I missing something?
    Thanks!
    Ferry
    $campaign_data = new Campaign();
    $campaign_data->sourceTemplateId='442';
    $campaign_data->folderId='1137';
    $campaign_data->currentStatus='draft';

    Hi Richard,
    Unfortunately no. I reached out to support, they informed me "sourceTemplateId" could not be used to create new campaigns based on a template, instead they advised to use the "Elements " property as shown in this example: Eloqua REST API - Create a Campaign with a Segment and Email
    Thanks

  • Multiple Universes (based on SAP BI Query) & single WebI Report

    Hi,
    We build OLAP Universes on SAP BI Queries. One of the ways to consume multiple universes in a single WebI report is to "add query" from another universe into the same WebI page / another WebI tab for the report.
    Is there a possibility to pick and choose fields from different Universes (based on SAP BI Queries), into a single WebI report ... of course respecting their technical linkage.
    regards,
    Rajesh K Sarin

    Hi Ingo,
    We have created multiple subject Area Universes (based on SAP BI Queries). Is there a possibility to select a particular object from one of the Universe and another object from another Universe into the same grid eg. Notification Number from Work Management Universe (SAP BI Query based on Customer Service Data Flow / Multiprovider) and Invoice Number from Invoicing Universe (SAP BI Query based on Invoicing Data Flow / Multiprovider). Common aspects for both of these could be say a Customer Account Number.
    As per my understanding, we cannot do this if we have created Universes on SAP BI Queries.
    Nearest possible option is to display two tables on the same WebI report - one from Work Mgmt Universe and other from Invoicing Universe.
    Please guide.
    regards,
    Rajesh K Sarin

  • Can not create Webi report on a Universe based on Bex Query

    Hi,
    We are using BO XI 3.1 (FP 3.4) with SAP integration Kit (same Patch Level) with SAP Authentication. We have a Universe based on a bex query and its connection is set to use SSO.
    We have say two SAP users U1 & U2. Now "U1" is able to create webi reports but when we Logged in as "U2" and try to create Webi reports or try to refresh reports created by U1 it through an error ...
    The database error text is: (CS) "Error on NumResultCols" . (WIS 10901).....
    As per the "Authorization" section in BusinessObjects XI Integration for SAP Solution Installation Guide we have provided this users with all the mention autherizations.
    Any words over this will be highly appreciated.
    Regards,

    It is highly probable that this is due to missing authorizations on the SAP BW side (not talking about the authroizations which are directly related to the BO/BW integration). I would recommend to ask your SAP Basis team to do a security trace while you are accessing the reports with the user, who gets the error. THey should look for failing authorization checks.

  • Steps to create a Universe based on Bex query

    HI Gurus,
    I am (first time ofcourse) creating a Universe based on a Bex Query. I searched on SDN to find steps to craete a universe on top of Bex query and found a document written by tej Trivedi and found other threads also which explains all the steps.
    I understood from his document that in case of OLAP Universes the Structure pan would be empty. And I will not see joins etc..Is that true?
    How can I make sure that I will see data?
    Regards

    Hi,
    I believe this is a cross post from here Re: BEX Query Objects dont show in Universe  ?
    So i will put my answer again:
    Hi,
    If you can select your BEx query,  but the 'universe outline' in the webi query panel stays blank (i.e no available objects in the webi query panel)  then you don't have enough rights (authorizations) on the BW -side.
    to prove it, try using a sap_all profile in the universe connection .
    regards,
    H
    p.s. there is a large section on the required authorizations in the Admin guide.  Also a note covers it :  Note      1585948 - No objects are visible in the query panel when creating a report using Interactive Analysis or BI Launchpad

  • Wrong date format when creating a universe based on a MS Analysis cube

    Hi,
    When creating a universe based on a MS Analysis 2008 cube the date objects from the cube are created in the universe with CHAR format when it should be DATE format
    I have tried to resolve the issue by modifying the date object in the universe with MDX but with little success.
    I wonder if it is an error in the cube and that it actually should be possible to get the correct date format from the cube when creating the universe automatically in the universe design tool.
    The date object is organised in a hierarchy.
    Any ideas? - both to resolve the issue by using MDX in the universe object properties or in the cube.
    The universe design tool is version 4.0 SP2 patch 5

    Oh I knew I was missing something. Ok version 2.
    I think in general this approach would work. I assumed you are starting from 1 and resetting to 1.
    There should be error handling and so forth that is not here. Probably some details need to be tweaked.
    So the key thing here AFAIK is to put the sequence reset in an autonomous procedure. Exactly how to do that may need to be modified.
    PS this version has a bug. After the reset needs to change the increment of the sequence back to 1.
    and I left that out. oops!

  • Create universe based on SAP ERP (ECC 6.0)

    Hi experts,
    I have a short questions which is hopefully easy to answer.
    Is it recommended, if I want to create a universe based on the SAP ERP System to directly connect to the underlying database or should I use the Data Federator to connect to a universe?
    I have no data warehouse and I dont want to craete one. I`m using BO Edge BI 3.1 and ECC 6.0.
    First I only want to build a universe with one data source (ERP). I know that if I want to join several sources I must use Data Federator or Data Integrator.
    Can anyone help me with this question?
    Thanks al lot and have a nice day
    Daniel

    Hi,
    As I said this is the only way to build universes on SAP ERP (ECC 6.0).
    This application is currently a prototype but it is planned to deliver an official support of SAP ERP (ECC 6.0) by Data Federator in the coming weeks.
    Data Federator will be used for both XI 3.1 and BI 4.x to access SAP ERP data: this access will be provided only for the XI 3.1 release, we also plan to support it in BI 4.1.

  • Syntax for creating Dynamic Time Filtersin Universes based on SAPBW

    Hi there.
    My customer has a requirement for having a series of dynamic filters available in a Universe Based on a Bex Query.
    In the Univers the BO report Developper will be able to choose from different filters to make the appropriate query for the report,
    The filters can have names such as:
    last_14_Days
    Last Year
    This Year
    This Quarter
    Last Quarter
    And so on
    @Select(Time\CalenderYear/Week) BETWEEN to_char(sysdate-28,'YYYYWW') AND to_char(sysdate-7,'YYYYWW')
    This syntaks is sort of showing the logic they want, but what will the syntax be to make it work in a Universe based on SAP integration Kit ?
    Best Regards Ingrid

    Hi Ingo.
    Thank you for your quick answer.
    Do you know if this is planned for future versions ?
    Can you please explain what you mean by Range Variable ?
    Do you have any good excamples of how this can work in a dynamic way ?
    Best Regards
