Create blank white HD menu background

How can i do this in Encore CS5? I have reviewed the selections in the library, but i cannot figure out how to do this. I often use the blank HD selection which gives me the black background. Is there a way to transform this to a white background?
thanks.

Double click  that menu to bring it in to your blu-ray project.  Press Command-Shift M (or the PC equivalent) or click the "edit in Photoshop" button to bring it up in Photoshop.  Double click the layer to make it editable (and not just a locked background).  Fill with white or whatever colour.
With that layer selected, choose Flatten Layer, to turn it back into a locked background.

  • E530 blank white screen, mainboard + display replaced .... ?!

    Hi,
    my E530c had a visit from half a bottle of beer last november.
    I immediately unplugged it, opened it up to dry a few days and got it clean with isopropyl alcohol.
    Everything except the display ran just fine, perfect graphics output (Intel 3000 integrated) over VGA/HDMI.
    The screen just shows a blank white screen (LED background working as well).
    I gave it away for fixing to a local store. In the past 6 month they replaced the mainboard and tried an other display. Result: same issue as before. So I cancelled the contract and got my E530 (with new mainboard, old display) back.
    As I couldn't believe this exchanged mainboard had the exact same issue as the (presumably) water damaged, I ordered a new display myself... still just the blank screen.
    That the mainboard got replaced I know for sure, took pictures before giving it away.
    What else could be the problem, display cable?
    Power indicator, microphones and webcam are working.
    I tried to test the continuity using a multimeter but it is nearly impossible to hit these tiny pins with the test points.
    Anyone an idea what else there is left to try? Maybe a hint, where to get a cheap replacement cable (Europe/Germany)?
    Thanks a lot

    Is it just an isolated incident? Did you try restarting your com?

  • Spry Menu background is white in IE

    I've created a vertical Spry menu with submenus. The menu should not have a background color, so it should take the color of the image it's on top of. This looks fine on Safari (Mac) and Firefox (Mac/Windows), but on IE 8 (Windows), the menu background is WHITE. This makes it difficult to see the menu items. What can I do so that the menu background is transparent and does not show up white in IE?
    The site: http://chrysacupuncture.com
    I'm attaching index.html, my own css file, and the Spry css file.
    Thanks for your help.

    Actually, now that I look at it, I think one of your IE hacks might be malfunctioning:
    /* HACK FOR IE: to stabilize appearance of menu items; the slash in float is to keep IE 5.0 from parsing */
    @media screen, projection
         ul.MenuBarVertical li.MenuBarItemIE
              display: inline;
              f\loat: left;
              background: #FFF;
    This is the bottom-most item in your CSS file.  Notice the typo in the float:left and that it does indeed state a white background background:#FFF.  I don't usually put IE hacks external CSS, you might try moving it to the main HTML file and using IECC.  Place it in the header as you would if you had internal CSS:
    <!--[if IE 5]>
    <style type="text/css">
    ul.MenuBarVertical li.MenuBarItemIE
              display: inline;
              float: left;
    </style>
    <![endIf]-->
    I removed the background color altogether, but you may have to define one (I don't usually support IE5 so I'm not sure).
    If you insist on having this hack externally, you can try placing the background: transparent in the first item of your CSS:
    ul.MenuBarVertical
         margin: 0;
         padding: 0;
         list-style-type: none;
         font-size: 100%;
         cursor: default;
         width: 9em;
         padding-top: 80px;
         background: transparent;

  • How to change color of blank white background that shows before sites load?

    The trick used to be to place a line in a UserChrome.css file. There was an update quite some time back and it seems Firefox doesn't even use this file anymore so I'm right back to seeing these eye-melting blank white pages on my monitor for a brief moment and then Firefox loads whatever site/page I clicked on.
    Please tell me everybody isn't just living with this.

    We can't figure out why my friend doesn't have this problem. The only thing he has done is
    browser { background-color: #191919 !important; }
    in the userChrome.css . It works perfectly for him as it used to for me.
    Anyway jscher2000, that userContent.css seems to work. At least, it's definitely gotten rid of the white I see when I load a session. I think I'm still seeing a flash of white from casual browsing, but I'm not sure.
    It used to be that even with color toggle (changed site colors), I needed that background change in userChrome.css or else I'd have the white page. It doesn't work that way anymore for some reason. Now color toggle itself is changing the white page to it's background color setting (which is why I thought everything was still working).
    I'm thinking about reseting/reinstalling my browser. Not just over this but another problem I am having where the browser pauses for a moment after I save an image file.

  • Blank white background (no underlying grid) so i can remove grey lines

    i am sure this has come up before but i wasn't sure how to search for an answer.
    when i leave my spreadsheet alone for awhile it seems like the spreadsheet will show with a blank white background - no grey lines showing the underlying grid - and this view has let me see that there are some cells where i /accidentally/ have thin grey lines where they shouldn't be (it should just be blank). the problem is that if i click in the spreadsheet it automatically shows the grey /underlying/ grid and then i cannot see the thin lines.
    is there a way to get rid of the underlying grid temporarily so that i can get rid of these?
    i looked in the View pulldown and i don't think i saw anything appropriate.
    thank you

  • Creating a white background

    Hello.  I am trying to create a white background in my images; eliminating shadows in the photos.  Currently, I am using the quick selection tool to wrap the image, then I'm clicking on the oval icon in the bottom right corner, and I'm clicking on curves, and moving the graph to the upper left to get a pure white background.  My question is there another way to use the quick selection tool to wrap the image?  I'm asking this because when I'm using the quick selection tool, it doesn't always cover the right areas of the image.  Is there a way to wrap the image at the pixel level to get a more accurate selection of the image, so other areas do not get selected when using the quick selection tool?

  • Image edited in Photoshop appears as blank white version in Aperture

    I am editing images in Photoshop this way: export RAW file to ACR for adjustment. Go back to Aperture and open the same file in external editor (PSD format). Then I select the ACR version, paste it into the Aperture export, flatten, reduce to 8-bit, and save.
    This works fine as long as I choose 8-bit in ACR. But when I choose 16-bit and go through exactly the same process, I end up with a blank white image in Aperture. The edited photo won't display at all.
    Any ideas why this is happening?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    <...>
    Here's the thing. When I try to go through the steps
    in the action "manually", I am not able to paste the
    ACR version into the Aperture PSD. What happens is I
    choose select all, then copy, then close the ACR
    version... and then when I go up to the "Edit" menu
    to select "paste", it is greyed out. I can't for the
    life of me figure out why this works in the action
    but won't work when I go though it myself.
    Finally, I tried re-opening the white file from
    Aperture "in external editor" and it opens into
    Photoshop white as well. In the layers palette the
    original image (the exported version from Aperture,
    not the one I adjusted from Photoshop) is clearly
    visible in the background layer, with one all-white
    layer on top. I imagine this is very confusing... I
    hope you can make sense of it!
    The last part actually made the most sense to me...
    It really seems like just as you are noticing in the manual operations, something is going wrong in the process of selecting the ACR image and pasting it into the exported PSD. That all-white layer is a giveaway that something in the pasting process is going wrong in the action, and basically just creating an all-new layer that has nothing in it. My guess is if you remove that all-white layer and save the file that returning to Aperture would show you the background image from the file.
    I am not sure what could be going wrong there except that it could be the process you are trying does not work well with CS, and needs CS2 to work properly. I have not tried the whole smart object approach posted earlier so I am not really sure of problems that may arise.
    Have you thought about batch-converting your RAW files in Photoshop ACR to 16-bit TIFF files and importing them instead? You'll still get the same degree of flexibility in alterations you can make to the images. You can even edit these TIFF masters directly in Aperture through the Finder without going through Aperture, if you want to save a little space and avoid the creation of a new version for some Photoshop work.
    You can also import 8-bit TIFF files as well but if you plan to do any alterations it's really better to work with 16-bit images from the start as it gives you the maximum ability to work with tones in an image without posterization.

  • Blank white System Preferences window

    Hello all,
    I purchased a secondhand G5 for the purpose of having a second internet station at home (I do most of my work on a late 2008 MBP but we've got multiple people here who like to use the Internet at the same time). When I set up this computer, it was hooked up to an old flat screen monitor (bought when they first came out) the HD was wiped clean, Leopard was installed, the internet was set up and working and everything seemed good to go. However, I wanted to get into the system to change the monitor resolution setting since the type/icons were a little big for my taste.
    When I pulled up System Preferences, I got a completely blank white window. This happens every time System Prefs is launched. I can click on this window where normally icons would be, and things seem to happen (the window changes size) but it remains completely white. Moreover, all of the pulldown menus from the top menu bar also are blank white. I can move my mouse down in the File menu where Quit would normally be, and I can click on it and System Preferences quits. If I quit out of System Prefs, the Finder and other software windows act normally. When I log into System Prefs again, same blank white window, same problem.
    This blank white window thing also happens with Preview, but I have not noticed it with any other programs on the system (yet).
    Here's what I've done to troubleshoot:
    Discarded appropriate systempreferences.plist file in the User>Library>Preferences window, also appropriate file in User>Library>Caches. Emptied trash and rebooted. Same problem.
    Reinstalled Leopard, 10.5. Tested, same problem. Upgraded with combo pack to 10.5.8, tested, same problem.
    Swapped out video card for a known working video card, tested, same problem.
    Swapped monitor for known working new monitor, tested, same problem.
    Am I missing some other .plist or similar file that should be discarded? Has anyone experienced anything like this and been able to solve it? Would this be due to software issues, or some kind of hardware issue? Because I can't see System Preferences, I can't create a new user account and discard the old one to try and resolve any software issues, my only choice is to do a clean install (which I have done to no avail).
    Help? I'd appreciate any guidance. Thanks in advance.
    Raji

    Well, at least we are seeing some light here. I forgot about Safe Mode! When I started up into that, I can see the System Preferences windows just fine... it's no longer white, and I can select what I need and make changes.
    However, I have done permissions repair from every possible angle (both from HD and DVD), I have reset the PRAM, and I still get a blank Sys Prefs window on normal startup.
    The only thing suggested here I have not tried is replacing the PRAM battery (since at the moment, I don't have one). That will be the next angle of attack but I'll have to wait to get one in.
    Other than the battery, could this be some kind of peripheral or software conflict?
    This is bugging me! I mean really.... it's just an Internet station, but one does want things to work properly nonetheless!
    Thanks for the help so far.... ! It has been useful.

  • Blank white window?

    Since upgrading to Mountain Lion I'm experiencing several weird problems that center on opening folders and windows.
    First, frequently when I double-click on a folder to open it the new window is completely blank -as if it were an empty folder. But underneath it shows the correct number of items in the folder -you just can't see or interact with them. Likewise, there is a scroll bar at the side, but it won't move. This happens about one in five times I try to open something, and can happen to any folder (not associated with any specific folders or nests of folders).  My workaround for this is to close the folder and then invoke the Get Info command. Then the folder will open properly.
    A related problem comes when I move or copy folders. About half the time the action finishes, but the folder icon retains the new little progress bar and plus sign configuration. I can open the folder and its contents, but the icon won't go to its normal image until I (again) invoke the Get Info command.
    The third issue which may or may not be related is that now when I use the back button in Safari I sometimes get a blank white page. At that point the back/forward/refresh commands are useless. I have to use the History Menu to go back, or open an entirely new window.
    Is anyone else having these problems?? Any solutions?
    Thanks!

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
    Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
    While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
    Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
    After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
    *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
    Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
    Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
    Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
    Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
    The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    *Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
    Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
    After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

    Use the uninstaller provided with the Sophos software. You can uninstall CUDA via the preference pane. Be sure you remove the com.nvidia.CUDA extension which is located in the /System/Library/Extensions/ folder. Not sure if Fan Control has an uninstaller so you will have to do it manually:
    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
    Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
    Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
    Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
    Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
    Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
    If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
    Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
    There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
        1. AppZapper
        2. AppDelete
        3. Automaton
        4. Hazel
        5. AppCleaner
        6. CleanApp
        7. iTrash
        8. Amnesia
        9. Uninstaller
      10. Spring Cleaning

    Be sure to remove your two Login Items. Finally do this:
    Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
    Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
    When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
    Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks
    OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
    OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
    OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
         Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
                     if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Some of my photos in iphoto turn blank (white) when I tried to edit the size like zoon in and out.Can someone help me on this?

    Some of my photos in Iphoto turn blank (white) when I tried to edit the size like zoon in and out.Can someone help me on this?

    As a Test:
    Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
    Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • When I open safari I get a blank white screen.

    When I open safari I get a blank white screen. When I open top sites, and choose google, the screen is still blank, with the search bar at the top a quarter full. If it does open, it suddenly becomes unresponsive and returns to that blank, white screen. I'v tried everything I can think of, but nothing works.
    On a side note, everything from mail to iphoto to word works - just not safari. I'm using a mid-11 iMac 21.5"i5 running on mountain lion.
    Also did I post this in the right place? I'm new to this.

    Read this whole message before doing anything.
    Back up all data.
    Quit Safari if it’s running. Then select
     ▹ Force Quit…
    from the menu bar. A small window will open with a list of running applications. Safari may appear in that list, even though you quit it. If so, select it and press return. Close the window.
    Step 1
    In the Finder, press the key combination shift-command-A to open the Applications folder. Select the Safari icon in that folder and press the key combination command-I to open the Info window. There’s a checkbox in the Info window labeled Open in 32-bit mode. Uncheck it, if checked. Close the Info window and the Applications folder.
    If Adobe Flash Player is installed, select
     ▹ System Preferences ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
    and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
    Hold down the option key and select
    Go ▹ Library
    from the Finder menu bar. Delete the following items from the Library folder (some may not exist):
    Caches/com.apple.Safari
    Caches/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess
    Caches/Metadata/Safari
    Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginHost.plist
    Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess.plist
    Saved Application State/com.apple.Safari.savedState
    Leave the Library folder open. Try Safari again. If it works now, stop here. Close the Library folder. If you still have problems, continue.
    Step 2
    Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it:
    open $TMPDIR../C
    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
    Quit Safari again. Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). A folder should open. If there's a subfolder with the name "com.apple.Safari", delete it, even if it's empty. Quit Terminal. Close the folder. Launch Safari and test.
    Step 3
    If Safari still doesn’t work right, quit, go back to the Finder and move the following items from the open Library folder to the Desktop (some may not exist):
    Cookies/Cookies.binarycookies
    Internet Plug-Ins
    Preferences/com.apple.Safari.LSSharedFileList.plist
    Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
    Preferences/com.apple.Safari.RSS.plist
    Preferences/com.apple.WebFoundation.plist
    PubSub/Database
    Safari
    (Note: you are not moving the Safari application. You’re moving a folder named “Safari.”)
    Try again. This time Safari should perform normally, but your settings and bookmarks will be lost. The default set of bookmarks will be restored. Delete them all.
    If the issue is still not resolved, quit Safari again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were, overwriting the newer ones that may have been created in their place. You don’t need to replace the files you deleted in step 1. Stop here and post again.
    If Safari is now working normally (apart from the lost settings), look inside the “Safari” folder on the Desktop for a file named “Bookmarks.plist”. Select
    File ▹ Import Bookmarks
    from the Safari menu bar. Import from that file. Recreate the rest of your Safari settings. You can then delete the items you moved to the Desktop.
    Note: This step will remove your Safari Extensions, if any, and their settings. If you choose to restore them, do so one at a time, testing after each step to make sure you haven’t restored the problem.
    If you don’t like the results of step 3, you can undo it completely by quitting Safari and restoring the items you moved or deleted in that step from your backup, overwriting any that were created in their place.

  • Can I take a frame from my project and use it as a custom menu background with CS4 and its Encore

    My project is edited in CS4.
    I moved it to Encore CS4.
    I don't want to use any of the supplied menu templates in CS4 Encore.
    I was hoping CS4 would be all I needed to create custom menus using scenes from my project.
    My question is: Can I take a frame from my project and use it as a custom menu background with CS4 and its built in Encore or do I need some other element from the Adobe catalog to make these custom chapter menus and sub-menus?
    Thanks Jim

    OK, I'm back. Here are my steps for creating Custom Menus with PS, En and PrPro:
    In PrPro, move the CTI (Current Time Indicator) to the desired Frame. Check Frames on either side, with the Program Monitor’s Magnification to 100%, or maybe even 200% (you’ll need to scroll, but get a really clear picture). You want the clearest Frame in that area. With AME, in CS4, you’ll want to Export that Frame as .TIFF, or .BMP. I use .TIFF for this.
    Now, for a caveat. When you Import this Exported Frame into Photoshop, be sure to check the specs., especially the PAR. You may have to use Image>PAR to adjust this to match your Project’s specs. Or, all might be perfect - just check this out.
    Now, at this point, I choose the Library Menu, Blank, so that everything is setup. One can create the Menu from scratch, but careful attention needs to be paid to the exact naming conventions. At the very least, unless you’ve done this dozens of times before, use that Blank Menu, or similar as a guide, so you get things done, as they must be done.
    Using that Blank Menu, just drag the Layer from your Exported Frame to your Menu image. It will appear above the black Background.
    Add, or manipulate your Button Layer Sets, as is required, keeping them together. Remember that Button #1 will be the Button Layer Set, that is lower down in the Layers Palette. This can play a roll with Button Routing, back in Encore. Lower Button Layer Sets will have lower Button numbers.
    Now, I always rename my Button Layer Sets, keeping the required characters - just changing the name. I also do all of my Button text in PS, and make sure to turn OFF Sync Button Names.
    When done, Save_As .PSD, and then Import_As_Menu into Encore. Note: if you start with the Blank Menu, you can choose Edit in Photoshop, and then when done in PS, you just need to Save, and it will update in Encore. This is a personal workflow choice. I do the Edit in Photoshop route, but it is not necessary. One just needs to Import the resulting .PSD into Encore with Import_As_Menu, so that Encore does all the things that it needs to and recognizes the .PSD as a Menu.
    When deciding what to base your Menu on, remember that you can "populate" your Menu with Buttons from the Functional Content. I’d suggest studying these Assets, and picking the ones that work best for you. You can still alter/edit those back in PS, so you just need to "get close."
    Pay special attention to the required naming conventions. You cannot deviate from those first characters in the Button Layer Sets. They MUST be followed.
    If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
