Create database connection with Mysql

Hi, all:
inside JDeveloper, i try to create a database connection for Mysql (third party
JDBC driver). I input all needed parameters into
JDeveloper database connection dialog, and test connection, the error message
says 'Unable to find driver org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver". The jar file contains driver
is listed in system classpath, and Mysql and MM-Mysql JDBC driver are tested with
other applications and there is no problem.
So, what i should do to create such a connection ??
Any help will be appreciated. thank you in advance.
kevin.

The connectio URL could look like this:
(leave the User-, Password-, and Role-fields, in the tab before, empty)
Java Class Name: org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver
URL: jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/test?ultradevhack=true&?user=myuser&?password=mypassword

  • Slow database connection with mysql

    ThanksHi,
    1. Are you opening and closing the database connection ,During inserting every record from data file?
If so, please avoid opening closing connection for each query execution.
Because , opening and closing the database connection is a time consuming one.
You should open all the required database connections, before you use them or use
Database connection pooling if your application is sucah a big one.
    2. Try PreparedStatment instead of Statement. Because Prepared statment query is
compiled and stored into Cache. so if you are executing the same query again and again, the compiled query will be picked up from cache, by replacing with new
    parameters
    3. Check the logic you used to pick record from datafile and insert into database .
    4. Check your RAM size , if you installed database and jvm on same machine.
if so , increase your RAM size.
    thanks,

    Hi,

Which databases are support by this Netbeans DB-Client?
    Thank you
    Best Regards

In general, NetBeans db client should work with any jdbc client database/driver.
Are you able to connect to the database from outside the ide (using a standalone java program)?
You may also want to take a look at :

  • Connecting with mysql

    hello
how can i create a connection to mysql and postgresql databases in jdbc. without using odbc.
    thanks.

You need to use a different driver. I assume you're using the jdbc-odbc bridge driver.
For mysql, get the mm.mysql driver at http://mmmysql.sourceforge.net/
    For postgresql, go to http://jdbc.postgresql.org/
I've only used the mysql driver, so I don't know the details of how to use the postgresql one.
In general, you will have to do the following:
    1. download the jar file and put it in your classpath
    2. change the connection url string to conform with the format in the driver documentation.

  • Create database connection for oracle ver.8.1.7.4 unsucessful

I trying create a database connection with jdeveloper 11g to db oracle ver.8.1.7.4, but the connection return error "Test failed: Unsupported Oracle database version". I selected connection type: "Oracle (JDBC)" and initially selected driver: "thin", after exchange to driver: "oci8", but return error: "Test failed: no ocijdbc11 in java.library.path". Created on menu > Tools > Preferences > JDBC driver options a new driver: "some.jdbc.Driver" pointing to Driver class: "some.jdbc.Driver", library: "oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver", class path: "c:\...\oracle\jdbc\lib\ojdbc14.jar".
Tried to create with this driver with the option "Generic JDBC" pointing to this driver created and using jdbc url: "jdbc:oracle:thin:@//255.255.255.255:1521/ServerId", but return error: "Test failed: Driver class not found. Verify the Driver location"
Now, i don´t know to do!!!

    John,
i have the data corporate in this DB in this version. I have already tested with the oracle JDBC driver: "ojdbc14.jar" and works in the "Eclipse" IDE, but i want to use with jdev, understand? Can i test only with this jdbc driver if i set "generic JDBC"?, because if i set "oracle JDBC" this driver is pointing to oracle 11g driver. Is there a "step-by-step" to set this correct procedure? I cannot set "oracle JDBC" of list because the driver class is disabled.

    Please help. thanks
    regards
    Rodrigo

    Hi ,
For creating a WebAnalysis database connection, please make sure you do the following :
    1. Verify if you have Essbase client installed on the WebAnalysis server.
    2. Check if the path of adm drivers are mentioned in the system environment variable -> PATH entries.
    3. Try giving the Essbase server name instead of the cluster name when attempting to create a connection.
    4. The error 1003 means it doesnt seem to create a connection with the server and while attempting it fails.
Make sure you have all the parameters mentioned correctly in the server details.
To get detailed information on what is causing the problem, make sure you stop the WebAnalysis service and start it from console .

    Hi Juanje,
I'm afraid I don't have an answer but we also wanted to do the same thing since there should be no reason for users to know the database details. We tried to insert values into the table you mentioned but found that there was a problem with the encryption of passwords (there are PL/SQL functions to encrypt/decrypt but they did not work).
We were told that no official interface or utility will be available to do this, so if anyone else has successfully managed this we would be very interested.

    Hi,
Maybe your connecting directly after the listener starts, wait a while then try to connect again, if this problem still occurs, check the SID of your Connection settings, it maybe incorrect.

    A few facts:
    1. You NEED to have the JDBC driver jar on the Java classpath
    2. You don't NEED to have the jar on the Windows classpath
    3. You don't NEED to 'override' the Windows classpath - you can just append the JDBC jar to it
Just use #3 above - edit the Windows CLASSPATH environment variable and add the JDBC jar to it. At it at the start and follow it with a semicolon. Or at it at the end AFTER adding a semicolon.
Or specify the CLASSPATH on the command line when you launch Java. Use the '-cp' or '-classpath <class . . >' options. Just type 'java' at the command line to see the list of parameters that can be used.
